I started a piece of art today which is based on some plant species* that I think would be good to colonize Tim in @gunpowder-tim’s headcanon of the Persephone Tim headcanon; so it’s art based on a headcanon of a headcanon of a headcanon 😅 [sweat simle emoji].

It’s gonna take a long time I think, but I am planning on posting it here even though it’s just gonna be plants and no Tim (because I am much better at drawing these little doodle plants than drawing people).

*so the art is basically of real species we have on Earth, but I maintain that they wouldn’t have the same plants on the City, so in my brain his plants are just similar to these ones.

Skyclan Reborn: Chapter 1- So that’s what dreams are made of...

He knew it was a dream because the colors were wrong…. And also he could fly. The sky, which at this point in the summer should have been dulled slightly by the intense sunlight and dry heat, was instead the vibrant cobalt of a winter morning. The grass was green as if it had just sprouted, and flowers from all four Seasons mingled oddly.

But Sky cared less about that. He was more  interested in the fluffy tailed squirrel nibbling on a nut a few tails away. In the bright sun and complete lack of cover, Sky would have been spotted many moments before, but this was a dream, and he was in charge.

With a quick wiggle to build up some momentum, the tom leaped. He landed empty-pawed and face to face with an apparition. Sky had heard the term ghost before, from the cats who hung around the graveyard, but this thing wasn't exactly what they had described. It was translucent, like the heat waves off the pavement during high noon, vaguely cat-like in shape. It's eyes however were clear, bright yellow.

“Greetings Sky.”

The white and grey tom sighed. “Oh come on…. Again?” It was a recurring dream, one he suspected was due to whatever prey he ate or activities he did before going to sleep. He found it annoying but bearable. After it said it's fill it usually just dissipated. But this time, It seemed more urgent.

The thing did not respond to his comment but continued to speak, almost hurriedly.

“You are destined for great things. You, descendant of Cloudstar, must rebuild and remake the fifth clan. Without you the four cannot survive leafbare.”

Sky snorted. “Yeah sure, thats not cryptic at all.”

The comment seemed to agitate it, and for the first time in all the iterations of the dream, it began to move. Every time Sky had seen it, it had been stationary, never moving, he had assumed it could not.  Although it appeared to walk as a normal cat, in reality the  thing never touched the ground, but instead glided a whiskers length above it, and moved through the grasses like a quiet breeze. It was unnerving, and Sky arched and  backed up on instinct. But as soon as he moved, the creature accelerated. Sky turned tail and bolted, eyes wild with fear and ears pressed to his head, but he could feel the heavy presence of the creature just behind him, wailing.

“The clans! You must save the clans! Only you can--”

Sky woke with a startled yelp to a stinging pain on his rump. Although it was late at night the constant twilight of the city streets crept into the little hollow in which he slept. He blinked at his tortoiseshell mate, whose claws were still lightly embedded in his skin. She pulled them out and gave her paw a casual lick.

“What was that for?” he whined. Shiloh was a more than capable she cat, but also brutally practical.

Her ears swiveled sideways in annoyance.

“You kicked me in the gut in your sleep. You could have hurt the kits…. Thankfully you did not.”

The tom started, blue eyes widening with a moment of concern. He had almost hurt his kits? A prickle of embarrassment tugged at him as he watched his mate’s wary face. She probably wondered if it had been deliberate. Many toms had been known to fall to their inner voices, which whispered for them to kill kits. But it rarely happened with a tom’s own kits, at least not intentionally. But seeing her wary stance, Sky's ears wilted slightly and he glanced at her sheepishly. “Sorry. I was dreaming about the thing again, the uhh spirit. It was telling me about the clans.”

The she-cat sighed. Her attention diverted.“Did you eat squirrel again?”

“.....Maybe?”

She rolled her eyes. This was not the first or even the fifth time this same conversation, or well, a similar one, had played out between them.“Sky, you know what those do to you,” she said, exasperated. “I don't understand why you keep eating those things. I'm almost certain the forest squirrels eat weird mushrooms.”

“I know, Shiloh…. I’m sorry.”  He shuffled closer to her and gave her an apologetic lick to her brindled ear.

Her body relaxed and she smiled at him ,murmuring as he began to groom her more thoroughly. “The little ones are fine,  although they are  excited now, moving and twisting around.” Shiloh gave a short gasp. “Oof. We have at least one strong kit, I'll bet they will out eat the both us.”

Sky paused in his grooming to look over her body, which had filled out from both the kits and his efforts of steady hunting. She was so beautiful, and he wondered daily how he had managed to ever catch her eye. “How long?” he asked.

She looked thoughtful for a moment before answering. “About half a moon. We will need to start looking for a nest soon.”

Sky nodded and resumed his task of bringing both his mate's and his own fur to a shiny cleanliness.

“You know,” Shiloh murmured a few moments later, “ The clan thing isn't a bad idea.”

The tom paused halfway through a lick, his tongue still halfway out his mouth. He pulled it back in before he said, “Wait… what?”

“I said,” the she cat enunciated very slowly, “That the clan thing was a good idea. Honestly, even though I don't necessarily believe in spirits or omens or whatever you would call that thing, I do believe that one's innermost desires make themselves clear. You keep having the same dream, over and over, and I think that means you really want it.”

Sky nodded. “I suppose so,” he said, “But that would be a lot of work, especially for a heavily pregnant she-cat.”

Shiloh flicked him him with her tail. “Oh please, if anything you've said and the rumors I've heard are half true, a clan would be safer for me and the kits. No having to constantly worry about disputes over food, or someone finding the nest while I'm out, or a rogue Tom coming through. We would be safe, surrounded by cats we trusted, and we could raise our kits in relative peace. If we can figure out that supposed code that they go by, we can make a name for ourselves as…. As a safe place for cats.”

As his mate spoke, Sky became increasingly excited. She was right of course. The possibilities, the benefits of safety in numbers were obvious. But he knew there were concerns he would have to anticipate and his excitement dampened a bit. “I'm not so sure that other cats would go along with it. It has barely been a cycle since Scourge and his nasty gang fell, and for most cats, he and his group are the only example of a united front and a ‘Blood Clan.’  I dont think demanding prey gifts for protection or stealing young kits is what we want everyone associating with our group.”

“Well, we will just have to go about differently.” Shiloh said. “Besides it's not like everyone believed Scourge and his group were legitimate. There are still stories of the other clans around and plenty of cats who feel vulnerable enough they would be interested. Probably even enough kittypets who would be drawn by the excitement of living like their ancestors.” She said the last sentence with a sarcastic bite. Most cats knew kittypets were naive, some bordering on childish, because all they had ever known was fullness and contentedness. Though there were always exceptions, but many of those disliked being called kittypets for those reasons.

But Sky wasn't paying attention to that, instead he was thinking through everything that needed to be done, how he could do it. “Okay,” he said with with a sly smile and a flash of teeth,” First we need a base of operations, then we need to figure out how we are going to recruit and what we are going to tell other cats. Especially cause of all the weird different rumors about the clans. So like, what the rules are and how to join and what training cats need.”

Shiloh nodded along with a quiet little smile as he listed each thing.

Sky rattled on. “Then we need to figure out who we are going to recruit. What are our standards? We don't want any who are too violent or untrustworthy. Should we recruit a bunch of younger cats? But then we'd have to train them….” He continued until he realized Shiloh was asleep, and then stopped, nuzzling back into position and falling asleep curled around her.

Okay Im just gonna put my thoughts in one post so here we go:

(Under the cut, cause there’s a lot, but to summarize: I love Hartley and Andy, the Flash’s science is absolute bullshit, and that’s mostly it, but I also just skipped around to the parts I cared about, ie none of the stuff with Iris because frankly, I don’t care)

- god i hate the science in this show. velocity doesn’t “transmute” into vibrations, what does that even mean? and then everything just turns into the speedforce and I wish that stopped being the show’s macguffin for literally everything

-  wait...i thought that no one remembered the pre Crisis timeline. Why do Ralph and Cisco sound like they don’t know why Hartley hates them. I dont get this

- also “right hand man” like...I saw stuff and I know he’s his boyfriend but like I also saw that same clip before I started watching and is it not painfully obvious? like...come on??

- Also whats the Frost storyline and are they getting her and Ralph together? Uhhh...I don’t hate it necessarily but I’m very confused

- Okay okay why do they think this shit will work I swear they just throw sciencey terms into their dialogue and pretend it means anything like...Light and helium come into contact literally always. HELIUM IS IN THE SUN FOR FUCKS SAKE THATS HOW FUSION WORKS WHY IS THIS EVEN AN IDEA LIKE IF YOU WANTED TO REALLY ENERGIZE HELIUM THEN USE X-RAYS OR SOMETHING I SWEAR

- ugh someone please pay the science budget over there, this is infuriating

- also how does everyone know everything? why does Hartley just have thermal conductivities memorized? I’ve been studying chemistry for the past four years and I don’t know that because honestly, helium doesn’t have interesting chemistry going on anyway? also this show acts like “scientists” just automatically know all science stuff and that’s not true? I can’t tell anyone anything about bio or physics, and I’ve been working on a team that builds a car but I still know barely anything about engineering. Like...what?

- HARTLEY KNOWS because of course he does. seriously though, why do they think they hide their identities well? tbh i think the entire city just doesn’t tell them because they want their local superheroes to feel better about themselves

- Andy, sir, your face is too adorable. I’m very on the fence about his dialogue in the last scene cause it really is only there to bolster Barry even though tbh that feels unearned on Barry’s end in my opinion, but I love the man. but also why did they blur out the kiss at the end like COME ON YOU COWARDS

- (meanwhile, over on Legends, they literally use True Love’s Kiss between John and Des as their midseason climax like just saying, this is why Legends is the best show)

Okay I don’t care about the main plot now that Hartley is gone so I think I’m done. This is what happens when I don’t watch for multiple seasons and then just pop in to see Andy

Oh! and I saw stuff floating around here about the writers generally not dealing well with the writing of the effects of trauma, and how they just sorta screw Hartley over in general on that front in terms of never actually giving him stuff in which he has to work out the long term effects of everything that’s happened to him. I agree, I just didn’t mention it up above because, frankly, my standards for this show are already really low, so it’s not like I expected any better. It’s already really damn bad and I’m sorta beyond caring at this point

QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?

one of my favorite scenes is actually really depressing XD but i really like the small part of a scene after cosima beats joreal and velver passes by her looking for her. https://tapas.io/episode/974705 something about the illustration on this page is so expertly crafted. like, you can just take one look and see cosima is in shock and kind of dead instead, and the fact its conveyed in such a brief and brillaint way amazes me.

in the meantime, another scene i liked was in the elven court where velver did manipulative mumbo jumbo towards nocturne by playing to her fears on being the proxy for chaos. that was just some beautiful a-ok emotional stake driving right there. though i do wonder how much of it was on purpose or if velver was being a jerk. but i like the fact that i dont know for sure because it keeps velver as a bit enigmatic

another scene im fond of is when nocturne she tells Chaze "nope you gotta figure out how to get yourself out" after freeing him. Chaze has some really great expressions. But i also like the story itself turns my expectations on their head by having Chaze really actually mostly figure out how to escape himself.

speaking of head turns, and not so much a scene, but i like that cosima orchestrated her own escape from the brothel and noped out. like im used to stories where the protagonist misbehaves only a fraction (like explore the brothel after being told no dont do that). but cosima just nopes out of there and heads for home, which is a fitting reaction for someone her age.

oh yeah i forgot about that moment in the larger scheme. but that was a really great moment. and again, kind of a more realistic reaction in a sense. cause i think those sorts of things are what ppl expect if they get told theyre the chosen one.

QUESTION 2. Throughout the comic, Velver seems to be up to his own sorts of goals. What do you think Velver’s goals even are? Are they personal, or is this the will of the supposed Church? What do these goals have to do with manipulating the elves to war with the merpeople? What outcome do you think people are hoping to achieve by starting it? Who is Kader, and what’s their intent with Cosima/Riga? Do you feel Velver is loyal to Kader, or is Velver playing the field to achieve his own ends? Lastly, how does Velver know Jorel, and why did Jorel call Velver a traitor?

i will try and tackle the last one first. i feel as if velver must not have always been part of the church by the fact hes a traitor. instead, he joined the church later when he saw the people he was with were "evil." though personally i feel like jorel's group wants to stop the prophecy a different way versus what the church is up to? but this is mostly based on the fact i cant necessarily picture jorel as part of this so-called church

i could be wrong and its totally opposite and the hunters dont realize velver is a double agent who hates the church

im gonna go out on the limb and say i think velver is playing both fields and trying to decide for himself what the best outcome is. and that while he's doing kader's bidding for now, he ultimately is after something else that makes following kader necessary.

i definitely also feel that kader is definitely for sure evil. cause something about the breaking of strings and velver's reactions makes me pretty sure they're a tyrant. XD which makes me pretty sure that they actually dont care about light beating the dark. they just want cosima's powers to do cool power things. maybe take over a kingdom

Okaaaay, hiiii. Busy week, didn't get all the way through "Destiny", but very impressed by the German origins here. Gonna scroll up and make random remarks now.

Re: The scene after the dead parents, yeah, that whole section somehow rang really true, the whole "my parents will be so annoyed I don't want to have to deal" morphing into the "what is even my life now". Also, kudos on illustrations in general.

Velver's an interesting cookie. Joining up later makes sense, particularly if that made him a "traitor" to some. I feel like he's his own agent, rather than working for anyone else... not necessarily that he's trying to engineer the best outcome either, just that he thinks he has some role to play, prophecy wise.

Namely that which one of them is good/order or evil/chaos hasn't necessarily been decided yet. Velver's pegging Cosima for the former, but it could be the other girl, so he's goading her too.

OH, hmmmm... what if Velver and Jorel were originally the rebirth of order and chaos, and they messed it up, so now it's up to the women? How old are they anyway?

QUESTION 3. Many of the events of the comic come about for one reason: Cosima and Nocturne are destined to fight according to a prophecy and past precedence of their past selves. Do you think The Origin Story about Riga and her sister is true, or do you think there’s some critical information missing from it? Do you believe the prophecy is destined to come to pass, or are Cosima and Nocturne going to find a way to avoid fighting each other? Why do you think Cosima was kidnapped as a child but not Nocturne? In present times, what do you think will happen when Cosima catches up with Nocturne? Do you think Cosima will learn to control her powers inherited from Riga better, or will they ultimately be her undoing? What about Nocturne? Will she overcome her own issues regarding the prophecy?

i dont think that old. but i mean i guess its possible. though they must of messed up real bad cause neither velver or jorel killed each other.

so im saying it now cause of that flashback cosima had at some point (which i dont remember where). i think this is one of those situations where what ppl believe is a lie. someone else hurt riga and someone kept turning the new incarnations against each other. and eventually it devolved into a myth and such, as myths tend to do

Yeah, there has been some interesting flashback/imagery stuff. Like when she reached for someone, and the image shattered and it was Velver (if memory serves).

I wonder if Cosima's friends have a role to play too. Maybe in a big twist, it was really one of them.

Speaking of though, the plot has been very clever in rolling out it's cast. Gradual enough to come to terms with each new character, but teasing others that end up with bigger roles later on. I'm reminded of an early scene when Velver was spying on Cosima - and Nocturne was spying on him. Layers.

I imagine it scans differently too when you're seeing it as it comes out versus binging, but I felt like the pacing was done well for the cast.

on the side topic of nocturne, i feel like left to their own devices she and cosima wouldn't fight it out to the death. instead theyd be all sister bondy bond, have some tea, etc. so i think for sure its not they themselves who bring the prophecy to pass, its the plans of others who try to grab at the power and turn them on each other. but i also think cosima and nocturne will be obstinate and keep hugging each other screaming no

I'm not so sure about that. Mainly because they might not always have control over their bodies. Like when Cosima went crazy on Jorel for self preservation. Could happen again with unintended consequences.

Nocturne probably also resents Cosima for growing up without so much responsibility, maybe also for having actual parents who aren't apparently trapped in crystals.

QUESTION 4. Among the larger threads rests a plethora of other possible curiosities to be solved. Who exactly were Cosima’s parents? Were they working for someone from the beginning, or did they somehow get wrapped up in everything? Who are Cosima’s friends considering they lament that their comfortable lives have changed since Cosima left? Who is Jorel, and why are his orders to kill Cosima? What is the deal with the elves trapped in crystals? As far as the plot goes, how might the Hunters affect what’s going on in general? What about Chaze? Will he be able to stop the war, or is his destiny meant to be something greater than that? In general, what are your theories for the future? What do you think or want to see happen?

Maybe, yeah... also that mention of having the same problem in another 10 years makes me think once again that if the battle doesn't happen the spirits move on again. Or something.

Yeah, maybe the elves in the crystals had a disease? So it's like suspended animation? Because it was mentioned that there were fewer elves than merfolk.

Or maybe they just couldn't make enough food for the city, so this means fewer mouths to feed. Swords apparently grow in the crystals, but I guess vegetables don't.

hmmm from the phrasing i feel like the implication is more that nocturne will kill riga? and kader will have to wait a decade for riga to be reborn again so they have to restart the kidnapping process. but i could be wrong.

As to the future, I really don't think I can call it. Too many moving pieces. I also wonder a bit if maybe the Circle's hiding elements of the prophecy, accidentally or otherwise.

Ahh, I see... no, that's possible. Doesn't necessarily negate the Velver/Jorel reincarnation issue though, maybe the host doesn't need to die.

Incidentally, just want to shout-out here too for the translator. I noticed the comic's originally in German, and gets translated. Can't be simple coming up with the terms like for the "virtual loop" forest.

(Maybe the original German prophecy got translated so many times it's being misinterpreted. )

Okay, final theory. In a massive plot twist, Cosima's cat app saves the day. All the outside world needed was technologies to unify the different groups.

QUESTION 2. Victoria has come to Port Arbores due to a letter she received from her mother. Now, she is intent on meeting Amaranth Sinclaire, the most powerful person in the town. Why is Victoria so determined to meet this person? Who exactly are they and what do they have to do with Victoria’s mother? Will meeting this person help Victoria find her mother or is something else going on?

It could just be as simple as "go to Port Arbores and find Amaranth Sinclaire" being in the letter

though i don't think vicky is the type to just follow instructions blindly...

i know some of the blurry text in that letter mentioned someone named owen being killed and that there is some cursed blade and something about vicky's duty because shes the firstborn

yeah to be fair there is a question of how much vicky knows/how skilled she is. i mean she didnt know a ghost from a spirit and didnt think to assume it was a spirit when she couldnt banish the sylph

2: Well, determination being the drastic nature of the letter itself. "Who" Other than the most powerful being but considered mom seems to be missing due to following up on an ancient artifact of (their?) family's that was stolen. If anythng I'm more curious how important Vicky's mother is to not only know Sinclaire - but know them enough to send her kid with a 'letter' and expect any sort of resolvement other than a laugh and hand wave to dismiss. Not sure how it'll help but I am curious where it could go. :D

I didn't necessarily pick up that they couldn't see what was going on, thought it was more a matter of "that old chestnut, why's the girl so freaked out", but the expressions were fun, particularly that last one was like "waitasec".

QUESTION 3. The world of the comic is heavily invested into magic, from familiars to sylphs to rune magic. Are there any particular aspects of it that caught your eye, whether visually or written wise? What about it caught your eye? Alternatively, what aspects would you like to learn more about in regards to how the world’s magic works? Lastly, are there any theories you have related to the magic (i.e. how the glamour spell hides the supernatural aspects of the whole town, why Icarus disturbed a sylph, etc.)?

3: Visually I do like that the effects do seem to have affects based on what they are doing. With the Wisp acting as the "visual guide" we saw the affect in the eyes in particular which I did enjoy. Then slap on the Sylph's elements just barely being visible because air critter. Then Eleven is floating around (which I'm curious how many can actually see her reviewing some of these panels lol)

I feel like the results of it can't always be controlled. Hence why there was concern over what Vicky was trying to unleash in helping out, why the cat distrubed the sylph to get Vicky "Where she wanted to go" (ie- to a powerful guy, even though she was just thinking hotel), and how the touching of an object (in the start) can have binding effects.

Hee. So, back to the idea of learning more about magic, I'm curious about how the two different classes differ. And how much power is needed to do stuff, like cloak a cat from cloak a city, because it seems like that'd be an effect that would contantly need to renew itself, versus a one-and-done kind of thing.

Is it timed, and they recast before it runs out? Is there some pool of energy?

Omg that reminds me of a fun historical fact that old mirrors didn't show vampire reflections because they were made of silver - which was a pure metal, thus wouldn't work for an 'undead'. But modern mirrors are aluminum, which means reflections should work for Vampires and just- hhhhhHHHH the fun chaos of that.

QUESTION 4. The story opens with a strange tale that is heavily implied to be related to Cortez and Eleven, the ghost blade. Is there a hidden meaning in this tale that relates to the plot at large? Does the tale have something to do with Sinclaire or why Cortez is the Strayer of Port Arbores? What other questions or theories do you have in regards to Cortez?

my running theory about the opening, going off the assumption it is cort and eleven, is that they found blade, eleven touched it and died/got absorbed into the blade (hence why ghost blade), and cort was like "omg this is my fault i will work for all eternity to free you"
