They wanted to spend time with me too. C:
We are a happy little family, and I am glad they accept me even though I lack the serpentine features they share. It took Sakura a while to not see me as just a scary creature, and now a fun but sometimes startling friend. With time I think she'll trust more. Especially now I've realized she recognizes a hand signal as "the hognoses twitch" and learned how to tell her in her language I am friendly.

#I am not sure if other hognoses would recognize this hand gesture as “a Hognose twitch” too#but when I do it she has a look like she understands#and will usually relax a bit#and often come closer#not every time but more often than not#perhaps my prior communication encouragement has helped#she might be more actively trying to understand my communication attempts as well#but it would be interesting to see how other hognoses reacted#Scoria has absolutely no reaction because she already trusts everyone#she has lived a life without any reason to distrust and is by nature the truest soul in existence#I think she thinks she might be human too? At least she sometimes does things to mirror me and doesn't do snake things.#I can't remember if she has ever done the hognose twitch#she just watches her sister do it every time she greets her and is like “Well okay that is a you things but I love & accept you regardless”#Sakura doesn't accept one twitch and we're friends#every time she and her sister are apart for more than a few moments she does it again#and every time she hasn't seen me for more than a few moments she requires the hand gesture to communicate my intentions#before any sort of interaction#I wonder if I am learning snake etiquette#it sure feels like it lol#Sakura is doing the proper serpentine greetings#(perhaps even doing them more than most as I have little basis of comparison)#and she sees the rest of us as heathens#not communicating properly#she just sighs and accepts this is her family and repeatedly tries to teach us proper manners and formalities

Hey there! I read both Reprogrammed and Decoded and was blown away. Unfortunately (sorta), my odd little brain had one little question that was burning from the end of Reprogrammed till the end of the story: what about the Wild Kratts Kids? How did they react to Chris's disappearance/return? I know if I were 8 and my teacher (i guess thats an okay metaphor? maybe?) randomly disappeared for 3 months and came back 10 pounds lighter with dozens of new scars and white hair in their early twenties, I'd be a little torn up/curious. How would Chris feel about showing up on screen in front of a bunch of kids in his state? Would he...wear a...hat...or something...? I don't know, just thoughts lol
They never told the public that Chris was missing (Didn't wanna scare the kids or give the Villains the knowledge that they were vulnerable)
And being out in the most rural parts of the world, it's not uncommon for them to go months without any sort of public appearance. For now, Martin is handling any sort of press alone until Chris is ready to be back in the public eye.
But of course they still run into a wild kratts kid every once and a while.

Seeing people say that we never see the Doctor and Ruby talking for more than 30 seconds makes me think 73 Yards and Dot and Bubble has just clouded their memories because the first four episodes of this era are almost nothing but the Doctor and Ruby talking and bonding.
Yeah, the Doctor-lite episodes meant we haven't had as much lately, but so many are going on as there's been none at all, as if every episode before 73 Yards was like Rogue where they were mostly separated in their own plotlines.
#doctor who#dw#fifteenth doctor#ruby sunday#ncuti gatwa#millie gibson#and don't get me started on the tardis bookends discourse#that argument lost all credibility when the same people insisted the ending of rogue be moved to the tardis#for no reason other than they wanted it in the tardis#it was exactly the type of scene they said the season was lacking#but didn't count because it wasn't in the tardis#same as with boom#one of the reasons they don't do tardis scenes at the start and end of every episode is because they get rather repetative#if you started rogue with the doctor and ruby in the tardis it would just end up being a repeated of the devil's chord#they decide to do bridgerton and get all dressed up#we don't really need a scene explaining why they're there#it is built into the whole show that they are just roamers#often randomly showing up in places and trying to have fun#for them going to a regency ball is no different than going to a club is for most people#wildest one was someone complaining why they were in wales at the start of 73 yards#they argued that because we didn't get a scene in the tardis we had no idea if being there was intentional or not#but that is irrelevant#the tardis often just lands in random places and the doctor and co have no idea where they are until they step outside#so many episodes start with them stepping outside and going “where the hell are we?”#everything that could've been said in the tardis was said outside it#there was no need to split that between two locations#especially when one actors time is limited#this all feels tied into the ongoing discourse about shows being longer#which many say is to it in more character beats#but honestly just feels like a hunger for more content

Out of all the characters, I think (post-series) Xie Lian is the most likely to actually survive flying at supersonic speeds and could theoretically get the actual "boom" if not the colour
(Hua Cheng, on the other hand, would be more than happy to supply the rainbows)
Wei Wuxian is the most likely to ATTEMPT it and inevitably blow himself up in the process (the only thing going boom here is Jiang Cheng's patience)

I don’t like when people ask how many books you plan to read/have read this year one because I think that’s a weird relationship to have to books and two because I think even reading a chapter or a portion of something is valuable. this is especially true with non-fiction but even with fiction I think any amount you read, even if you don’t read the entire thing, is not a failure or ‘incomplete’
#I read basically exclusively non fiction and every page I read is beneficial like I’m always learning something#like my relationship to reading is often extractive and utilitarian because of school and research#but that extractive process doesn��t require reading the whole text like 99.9% of the time#I’ve only read a third of Orientalism for example but like I have a good grasp of Said’s core arguments and concepts#and like part of how I finished authoritarian personality (a 1000 page book) was by skipping & skimming sections#like the whole is not always more valuable than its components#and also like ‘I read this book to complete it’ is not an insincere way to engage with a text but I feel like it’s limiting#if that’s your primary approach to reading. Like you read a book just to say you read it#& also more petty but I think that if your argument or thesis only works if people read 100% of your book then you’re doing a poor job#of getting your point across#again obviously it’s valuable to read and process whole complete texts not dismissing that but like#I don’t find a lot of inherent value in reading a book just to complete it u know
