Could I have an allergic reaction after using Essential oils?
Introduction
Essential oils have become extremely popular in recent years due to their numerous medicinal and aromatic characteristics. These natural compounds from plants, flowers, and fruits have been utilized in conventional medicine and aromatherapy for generations. While essential oils are generally regarded safe when used correctly, allergic reactions are possible. In this post, we will look at the dangers of allergic responses to essential oils and how to utilize them properly to reduce the possibility of side effects.
Essential Oils Explained
Essential oils are extremely concentrated liquids taken from plants' leaves, blossoms, bark, stems, and roots. Extraction processes can vary, including steam distillation, cold pressing, and solvent extraction. These oils contain the natural compounds responsible for the plant's fragrance and other therapeutic properties.
Allergic Reactions to Essential Oils
While essential oils are generally safe, they are potent substances that can lead to allergic reactions in some individuals. An allergic reaction occurs when the body's immune system identifies a specific component in the essential oil as a foreign invader and responds by releasing chemicals like histamine. This can result in a range of symptoms, including:
Skin Irritation: Contact dermatitis is one of the most common allergic reactions to essential oils. It might cause redness, irritation, or a rash on the skin where the oil was administered. This might happen anywhere between minutes and hours after application.
Respiratory Symptoms: Inhaling essential oil vapors or using a diffuser may trigger respiratory allergies, leading to symptoms like coughing, sneezing, wheezing, and nasal congestion.
Eye Irritation: Some essential oils can irritate the eyes, causing redness, itching, or watery eyes.
Gastrointestinal Distress: Ingesting essential oils, which is not recommended without expert guidance, can lead to nausea, vomiting, or digestive discomfort.
Systemic Reactions: In rare cases, exposure to certain essential oils can lead to systemic allergic reactions, causing symptoms like hives, swelling, and anaphylaxis.
Common Essential Oils Known to Cause Allergic Reactions
While allergic reactions to essential oils can occur with any oil, some oils are more likely to trigger sensitivities due to their chemical composition. It's essential to be cautious when using the following essential oils:
Citrus Oils: Oils like lemon, orange, and bergamot contain compounds that can increase sensitivity to sunlight, potentially causing skin reactions.
Lavender Oil: Despite its popularity, lavender oil may cause skin sensitivity in some people.
Eucalyptus Oil: Although eucalyptus oil is known for its respiratory advantages, it might cause respiratory allergies in certain people.
Tea Tree Oil: This oil is used for its antiseptic properties but can also cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
Cinnamon Oil: Cinnamon oil is potent and can lead to skin irritation or allergies, especially when used in high concentrations.
Avoiding Allergic Reactions
To reduce the risk of allergic reactions when using essential oils, follow these guidelines:
Patch Test: Before utilizing a new essential oil, do a patch test by applying a diluted solution to a small area of skin. Wait 24 hours to check if there are any bad responses.
Dilution: Always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil (such as coconut oil or jojoba oil) before applying them to the skin. A normal dilution ratio of essential oil to carrier oil is 1-2%.
Quality is Important: Choose high-quality, pure essential oils from trustworthy providers to eliminate the possibility of synthetic additions or impurities that might cause allergic responses.
Personal Sensitivity: Be aware of your own sensitivities and allergies. If you have a history of allergies or skin sensitivities, use essential oils with care.
A qualified aromatherapist or other healthcare provider should always be consulted before taking essential oils.
Consult an Expert: If you have concerns or are unsure about using a particular essential oil, consult with an aromatherapist or healthcare provider.
Conclusion
Essential oils provide a natural and holistic solution to a variety of health and wellbeing issues. However, it is essential to be aware of the possible hazards of allergic responses that may occur as a result of their usage. While these reactions are relatively rare, understanding how to use essential oils safely and responsibly is key to enjoying their benefits without complications. By following proper dilution methods, performing patch tests, and being mindful of personal sensitivities, you can incorporate essential oils into your daily routine with confidence and peace of mind.

What Is It Like in a *Posh* Moroccan Hammam? 🫧
When I say "posh," I mean upmarket hammams in a wealthy residential areas, not hammams in hotels. This post is about authentic hammams used by wealthy Moroccans, not ones aimed at tourists.
Decor
One of the first things you'll notice in upmarket hammams is that the decor is far more elaborate than in basic hammams. Decor will of course vary from place to place, but to use the example of the hammam next to my great-aunt's place in Casablanca I always make sure to go to:
The walls in both the main washroom and the sauna room are made out of blue and white marble in a traditional zellige pattern. There are also ornate sinks jutting out of the walls also of blue and white marble, whereas in basic hammams there will just be faucets. The sauna has long benches made of marble across the length of each side of the room, and the massage tables are slabs of heated light grey marble.
Regardless of the individual decor choices of each hammam, each building will always be spacious, with high ceilings and curved arches.
Ambience
Upmarket hammams feel luxurious, but understated, focusing on relaxation and subtle elegance rather than opulence and "wowing" people.
The lighting will normally be natural, but if artificial lighting is used it will be subtle and non-intrusive. Whereas in basic hammams it will be bright and practical, and in tourist hammams it will be dim with lighting coming from lanterns and candles (ambient, but not practical for visibility).
Although some may have private areas, authentic hammams in wealthy areas will generally follow the tradition of communal bathing.
As they are located in residential areas rather than tourist hotspots, and as they are a lot larger than basic hammams, they don't feel overcrowded and the experience is more intimate.
Services Offered
Upmarket hammams offer more services than basic hammams, but unlike tourist hammams, all the services are based in authentic Moroccan traditions, whereas in hotels the hammams offer a blend of the basic Moroccan services (sauna, sabon beldi, etc) and services similar to what you'd find in Western spas.
Authentic services you will find in upmarket Moroccan hammams include:
The usual sauna, cleansing with sabon beldi, deep exfoliation and ghassoul clay masks you'll find in every hammam in the country
Massages with argan oil, ghassoul clay, jasmine oil, amber oil, olive oil, honey, or herbal compresses
Herbal steam baths with tabrima, eucalyptus, lavender or mint
Rosewater and orange blossom water rinses
Henna treatments (it's not just used for temporary tattoos but has benefits for the skin and hair)
Facials with products like argan oil, sweet almond oil, honey, and saffron
Foot baths with herbs, oils, and/or milk
(Services will depend on each individual hammam)
The treatments are all high quality by staff who really work for their money. The attendants will scrub off absolutely every bit of dead skin on your body, and I have honestly never been as thoroughly massaged as I have been in these hammams.
Relaxation Lounge
In basic hammams, you just put your clothes on and leave after adjusting to room temperature, but in upmarket ones, you relax in the hammam after towelling off.
After you're dressed, the staff will lead you to another room. To use the hammam local to my great aunt as an example again, the relaxation lounge in this one:
Is full of white chaise longues, one facing another so that you can chat with your companion. They each have a low table in between them, on which a staff member will put down a silver tray, which will have a lit candle which will also have ghassoul clay integrated into it. There will also be glycerin preserved rose petals scattered on the tray, and of course refreshments - a bottle of cold water (much needed after all the heat and steam) and refreshing peppermint tea in a floral cup and matching saucer.
In other upmarket hammams they might have leather couches or armchairs instead of chaise loungues, regular candles without the clay, and Moroccan mint tea instead of peppermint herbal tea, but they'll all follow the same format.
Would I Recommend Trying One of These Hammams?
If you want a luxurious but 100% authentic hammam experience, absolutely! Although hotel hammams are surely fun with their swimming pools, etc, if you want to really experience true Moroccan culture and feel classy while you do it, I'd recommend finding one in a middle or upper class residential area.
They're also inexpensive if you're on Western wages - the one I described in the post is €4 for entry and €15 for a massage, and pretty much all similar hammams will be in that general wheelhouse. Whereas I have no doubt that the ones in hotels are way more expensive - the tourist price vs the local price.
Tips For Going to Authentic Hammams
Whereas in hotels the staff will speak multiple languages, in ones the locals use usually they'll know just Darija and French, maybe basic English but there's no guarantee. If you know French it will be fine, but if not get a Moroccan friend to accompany you.
Shave before going. The attendants will only exfoliate you if your skin is hairless, as the kessa glove can more effectively remove dead skin and impurities without hair in the way, and with smooth skin there's no chance of the rough gloves tugging on your hair and causing your skin to become irritated. The subsequent skincare products applied to your body will also be easier to apply evenly and will be better absorbed. If you haven't shaved beforehand they'll just give you a razor.
You can buy toiletries like soaps and towels, but it's also acceptable to bring your own.
Don't be afraid to get naked. Moroccan women strip down to their panties. Nobody will look at you, everyone is concentrating on bathing (wearing your bra or swimsuit is honestly more likely to bring attention to you than going topless as that's how people will know you're a tourist). You'll see many different body types and all ages in the hammam, so don't worry about being judged if you have stretch marks, extra weight, etc
Men and women bathe in separate areas or buildings, so don't worry about the opposite sex seeing you. You might occasionally see a mother taking her young son with her (as in, toddler age), but never older boys and men.
You can talk and laugh, but don't shout or giggle loudly or anything. It's meant to be a relaxing experience for everyone, and as the rooms are so spacious, loud noises will carry across them.
The massages are really thorough, so be prepared. I've been massaged everywhere from the insides of my ears to my privates in these hammams. If you have anywhere you'd rather they don't touch, communicate it with the massage therapist before getting your massage done, as the norm is to massage literally everywhere.

Twilight Saga Headcanons - What They Smell Like
Requested by: no one
oOo
The Cullens:
Carlisle takes great pride in his grooming, but tends to go for scentless soaps because some of his patients have allergies. Always somehow smells a little like disinfectant when he gets home after work. He somehow smells very ancient, like incense and a scent you might discover walking through an extremely old and dusty church.
Everything about Esme smells delicate. Her favorite scents as a human were floral and light, like lavender and rosewater. Definitely has an aroma of perfume that trails after her, though she doesn't wear any.
The only way to really describe Edward's scent is clean. Icy cedar, fresh snow, and oranges. It's a pure, subtle scent.
Rosalie's scent is arguably the most powerful. It isn't strong, but it's enticing. It's like warm Tennessee Whiskey and dripping honey - a scent that's designed to seduce and draw you in.
Emmett would absolutely smell like Axe body spray if Rosalie would let him wear it - she doesn't. It stings EVERYONE's noses to an insane degree. Overall, though, Emmett smells like warm velvet, like a blanket you've just pulled out of the dryer.
Even after all this time, Jasper still carries the faint scent of gunpowder. There's something about his scent that stings, like mint and eucalyptus.
Alice smells like salt and coconut, like a sweet and windy beach day. She also carries a light scent of sparking ozone, but it's so faint that sometimes they all forget that it's there.
oOo
Wolf Pack:
Sam assumes he smells so much like food because of the many hours spent in Emily's kitchen. Sam is warm honey mixed in with steaming oatmeal; fresh bread and maple syrup.
Jared used to smell like leather because of the jacket he always wore to school, but that was destroyed years ago when he phased. It's an extremely manly scent mixed with vanilla and amber.
Paul's scent is very warm and spicy, a natural and earthy woodsy musk, like the soil after a heavy rain. It can tingle your nose, but it's still very attractive.
Surprisingly, the one who smells most like the outdoors is Embry. His whole body is tied to the scent of patchouli and pine; it's a very nature-based scent.
A lot of Jacob's scent is mixed in with how much time he spends around cars, so you'll get a whiff of rush and metal and probably motor oil, but it isn't unpleasant or off-putting.
Tobacco is the leading scent for Quil, which he assumes is because of his grandfather. He also smells very much like ginger and cinnamon.
Though she's never been a big reader, Leah smells like old books and paper. It's a bit of a dusty scent, but goes well when mixed with her favorite vetiver lotion and body wash.
Seth has a very bright and welcoming smell, like cinnamon sugar or a freshly baked pie crust. It's a smell you somehow always associate with your childhood, but you can't put your finger on exactly why.

Tips for my girlies in university and early work
I decided to make this post based on what has made my life easier these past few years. Every woman wants to cultivate beauty; make themselves put together, be taken seriously, and find a partner who is equally yoked if you're into that. As an old tumblr girl shifting in and out of the scene, I wanted to make another tip post like the old times that's accurate to what helped me.
A lot of the older/retired girlie's where amazing advisors, however one thing that created a barrier was that they were were endowed with large wealth and their society paved a path for them, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, I love to see it actually. I wanted to make a post looking back to what has helped me make my own steps to now be able to utilise the old girl's advice as it was supposed to.
Hair
Learning a basic blow out is necessary. If you're starting out, you don't need all of the fancy brands, and you'll notice that technique is what differentiates the quality of a blowout. Get a good round brush that conducts heat well, mid range but reliable (Babyliss) blow driers, flat irons, and curling rod. Invest in a heat protectant too. Sweet talk the hair dressers and ask where they get their stock from. Get yours hands on some pro hair sheers to get your own trims and layers going.
Silk scrunchies and pillow cases are an underrated and feminine must-have. I'm a lazy girl who always has a silk press if my hair is out and I can get away with collapsing onto a silk pillowcase with no head wrap and still manage to have a lovely style in the morning. I would say order these from a small business. Many girls have businesses dealing with small textile projects like scrunchie packs and average size pillow cases, support them! :)
Learn to do your own cornrows and invest in a half wig especially if you're busy with classes and don't have time for the whole round brush ordeal.
Don't be scared of wigs, and don't be ashamed of not having enough time to pull off a dazzling natural masterpiece. There's a reason why wigs are in high demand from women of all races. People are all over busy. You can start with a natural synthetic and move on to better hair.
I learnt the art of hair when I was 15, so I've been doing it for a while. However, because of this, I can tell you the importance of having a lovely crown on your head. I have received hundreds (not joking) of compliments from years, whether my hair was real or fake, and that shows how important it is for a first impression.
Nails/Feet
Don't forget to take care of them. Walking all the miles, wearing the mandated courts, sitting in one place. You will indeed develop calluses, perhaps even athletes' foot and hyperpigmentation from a lack of circulation.
Get yourself a basic pumice stone or a scrubber and use them when need. Massage yourself as well to maintain mobility and flexibility.
If you can, get yourself an affordable gel set. It might seem a bit expensive, but it'll save you the time and money of the upwardly costly nail appointments. You'll find out when you get up and socialise more that what tops the cake of classy is a glossy basic nail. Natural nudes and whites are always a go to.
Scent
Scent connoisseurs are going to absolutely hate me for this, but girlie's, if you can't get that Jean Paul Gaultier or Baccarat Rouge, get the damn arabic fragrance. Back in high-school when me and my girls were starting up, setting ourselves apart and getting invited to important places, Lattafa was our favourite. Social media is currently finally going crazy for them. (The African/Arab girls got them first 🤭.) I loved my floral Haayati with a mix of Zakra (other brand, heavy masculine oud tones for my peace of mind), and my best girl loved her gourmand Yara and her vanilla oils.
I love to talk about fragrance because it talks first for you. Nothing is better than a delicious light smell accompanying your presence. It shows you hold yourself to some esteem.
Skin
Face Essentials - gua sha stone, gentle cleanser, exfoliating cleanser or serum, sunscreen, thick moisturising butter, anti fungal or bacterial essential oil, lip moisturiser, clean cloth.
These will help you start out on a basic level to having healthy looking skin. Exfoliating is very important towards a glow. When you're stuck working with a bright light in your face, soaking up the harsh morning air full of car exhaust, sweating as the hours go by - what will make the difference is making sure that you get rid of that excess dead skin every 3-7 days.
Gua sha is amazing for getting rid of the stress if you clench your jaw during moments of stress. Say you have to present an assignment or address and debate a crowd, that takes a tole on the jaw and the facial muscles. Using a gua sha is great for ironing those knots and that tension out.
On the topic of massage, spas can be unaffordable at times, time is could also be a problem. Get into a habit of using every minute you have. That 5 minutes that you sit and doom scroll on tik tok, take out a wood tool, grab a moisturiser, and press those muscles to release built-up tension. Taking care of the vehicle you have is so important. Your body and mind are separate but complimentary. Take care of her, and she will take care of you. Don't forget that every second, she's pumping the blood that facilitates your social meetings and work hours.
When it comes to body, get yourself exfoliating mits or an abrasive rag. Once again, exfoliation, exfoliation, exfoliating. It's great for blood flow and circulation as well as moving your muscles and tissues that may be constantly seditary from a desk.
Dry brushing is something I also swear by. Once again, absolutely wonderful for circulation and waking the skin up.
Get yourself a foam roller... I press such an emphasis on these tools that stimulate the muscles because we often forget how much our bodies are taking multiple hits from working. Joint issues are something that's prevalent when you're a working girl, coming straight out of high-school and going into the world outside the home of your care taker. Roll those legs out, release that back into the grooves. It makes a world of difference!
Clothing
I loved to dress like a blank canvas back in my early days when I decided I want to make something of myself. Nothing beats good denim pants and a white t-shirt. Especially when you're starting out and want to begin establishing outfits for everyday, you'll notice the blank canvas approach will prevent you from looking crazy on crazy days. Stock up on 3 white tees, white and blue jeans, yoga pants, well fitting good quality skin tone lingerie, a belt, a watch, some fake pearls, black or white dress, a ring and a necklace and my all time favourite, a pair of shades.
Ugh, I can't get enough of combinations like this. I grew up and was educated by women who followed this but fancied it up with a bold Goyard St Louis, a 3 stone engagement ring with a gold band, a local pure and heavy polished silver bracelet and some Loro Pianas. Absolutely gorgeous women, who knew how to constantly present themselves as nothing less than reliable, stylish and beautiful.
You might say that, 'Omg Lilly, that's so boring', that's not the point here 😂. As a green girl with a good head on your shoulders, you're going to get a lot of new opportunities. Whether it's internships, parties, socials with the girls or the guys, dates, fund raisers, club representative workshops, you're going to be expected to show up well and put together. Say you have a social evening at a club house, in the morning you have an internship and the next day you have to manage and represent your society. Those 3 white shirts paired with a rotation of basic bottoms and versatile shoes will make things a lot easier for you especially if you're starting out in a foreign country where you don't know what is to be worn exactly.
Makeup
Those who have known me are well aware that I'm a retired goth girl and was killing it with the cut crease and James Charles tutorials back in the day. Makeup is something that has seamlessly became part of my life. Unfortunately or fortunately, I grew out of that creative phase and started wondering what actually makes my natural features and face pop. What presents me as healthy, bright, and hyper-feminine (in contrast to the basic clothing)
I came up with the recipe of 'Biology' makeup. Blush because it signifies healthy blood flow and interest in the person you're interacting with. Healthy full eyebrows, non-matte evenly toned skin with naturally bronzed dimensions. A healthy hydrated pink lip. Some extras are a little liner to enhance the eye, flirty lashes from carefully applied mascara and/or lashes and some depth and glitter to draw attention at the eyes.
Very basic, very safe, very attractive, very reliable. This is a routine that can be executed within 8 minutes.
Moisturiser -> sunscreen base -> full coverage foundation or concealer watered down with sunscreen to make it more glowy and allow the natural dimensions of the face to peer through->bronzer/darker powder-> semi heavy blush combined with some loose banana powder to calm down the concelar-> light wing-> lashes-> wipe the lips and eyebrows-> fill both in and end with a natural colour applied to both.
Inspo below
E.T.C
Other important notes:
Yoga, cardio and pilates to maintain mobility, lubricate those joints, crack those bones back into place. Sweat is amazing to get those toxins, lose a bit of unnecessary weight, blow off steam, improve skin health, get your blood pumping and much more.
Save your money, all these things are meant to make life simpler for you so you are in a place where you are investing into things that are truly important like rent, food, tuition, remittances, dental work, medical aid, insurance, etc till you have someone who could assist with that :)
Remember to keep a balanced diet. Oh lord, when I went out to a new country, thank god I was young, but I became close friends with the local McDonald's and knew all of the door dash delivery men by name. Please, for the love of God, buy your fresh food and meal prep. The temptation is so real after a long night, to drop a bunch of pounds or euros on a quarter pounder and some zinger wings but it will not nourish you to survive another active day with decent cognition and drive. Especially if you were living alone and stressing out about making your own path, don't feed the delivery demon. You'll lose useful money, and mess your hormones up.
Instead to reward yourself, buy your place some flowers. If you want to eat go to a restaurant which serves whole food. Buy some new fancy stationery, party, get a spa or cosmetic treatment that you've been wanting, travel or take a train to somewhere scenic! Perhaps I'm too harsh but addiction to quick fixes is real when you first drop into a state of independence whether it's financially or physically. Don't abuse it by splurging. Understand moderation through strict monitoring then after a while, go get that Wingstop or whatever after knowing how to access real food and that it's an affordable and doable option first! (me and my guy friends literally never ate any real food for a month straight while gallivanting in Europe because we were so codependent on Taco Bell and used our lack of knowledge of the city as an excuse to take the easy way out 🤣.)
If you can do something really well, make a mini business out of it.
Network, network, network. Ask questions, ask for opportunities, get numbers and business cards.
Self defense starter kit (Google it according to the laws of your nation)
Lastly, make friends, call family, volunteer at an animal shelter every now and then to remind you of what love is 😂 because in the fast paced assimilation into new environments, you do forget and only notice when suddenly you're sadder than usual, and have anxiety during basic interactions.

ghoul perfume associations pt. 2 (halloween edition)!
halloween ghouls! a little bit murderous, a little bit monstrous. is the slight scent of blood from the perfume or did the ghouls just get back from a hunt? who knows.
(i thought it would be fun to make a Halloween/fall edition of the ghoul perfume list I made before, so here it is! for most of these the first scent is a little bit out there, and the second is more wearable/lighthearted.)
cw: themes of death and injury, a lot of talk about blood and murder
Aeon
Notes: clean linen, lavender, marshmallows, blood. Aeon smells clean and gentle, but that cleanliness is tinged red and metallic on the edges.
Perfumes:
Plutonian -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Soapy cleanliness sullied by blood and ashes.”
Sleepy Ghost -- Poesie Perfume
“Haunted by insomnia? Let this friendly ghost lull you to sleep with the blissful combination of marshmallow and lavender. You’ll be dreaming in no time!”
marshmallow pillows sprinkled with natural lavender essential oil and absolute for sweet dreams
Aether
Notes: amber, wood, blood. Aether smells warm and golden, resinous and a little bit spicy, like the ideal fall day spent lounging in front of the fireplace. But every so often you catch the edge of something that smells suspiciously like blood…
Perfumes:
Blood Amber -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Slivers of warm, pulsating blood forever crystallized in golden amber resin.”
The Dead Rise -- Poesie Perfume
“I did not sleep well, though my bed was comfortable enough, for I had all sorts of queer dreams. There was a dog howling all night under my window, which may have had something to do with it; or it may have been the paprika. — Jonathan Harker’s journal”
dark roasted coffee beans spiked with fresh cardamom pods, cubes of brown sugar, ambroxan, cedar
Alpha
Notes: leather, smoke, spices, rot. Alpha smells aggressive and dangerous – and he is. Of all of the ghouls, Alpha is the most likely to admit to his hobby of hunting unsuspecting Abbey visitors for sport.
Perfumes:
Eau de Ghoul -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Dessicated skin coated in blackened ginger, cinnamon, and mold-flecked dirt, with cumin, bitter clove, leather, and dried blood.”
Hellfire -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“A scent celebrating Sir Francis Dashwood’s Order of the Knights of St. Francis of Wycombe, also known as the Hellfire Club. A swirl of pipe tobacco, hot leather, ambergris, dark musk and the lingering incense smoke from their Black Mass.”
Cirrus
Notes: dark fruits, musk, metal. Cirrus smells alluring enough that you can almost ignore the way her nails are a little too sharp, her smile a little too wild. Her idea of flirting is offering to help you hide a body, and you’re not sure she’s joking.
Perfumes:
The Enterprise of the Night -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Inspired by the opening pages of Circle of Blood. The scent of vice and darkness: flashing neon, oil-tinged petrichor, fading perfume, smeared lipstick, and the faintest touch of gunpowder residue.”
The Witch Queen -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Wild plum, red musk, tuberose, calla lily, heliotrope, pimento, ylang ylang and beeswax beneath a dark haze of sinister purple-hued incense smoke.”
Cumulus
Notes: florals, sugar, poisonous chemicals. Cumulus smells sweet, sugary in a way that gets stuck to your gums and makes your teeth ache. She has the face – and scent – of an angel, but something about the way her eyes follow you makes you uneasy.
Perfumes:
Shelley, Byron, and Keats -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Uncompromising idealism, haunted romanticism, fatal ennui, and a heady amount of scandal and vice: red roses and pale carnation with a draught of laudanum, smears of opium tar, a hint of absinthe, and mercury ointment.”
Tiny Phantom -- Poesie Perfume
“You see it there in the glass, a tiny phantom - a glimpse of white in an otherwise dark room. But there’s no need to scream, and there’s no need to faint -- the thing in the darkness is you.”
innocent pink roses, marshmallow buttercream, pale white musk, antique mahogany
Dewdrop
Notes: dark fruits, smoke, ash. Dew smells like the remnants of a house fire that may or may not have been set on purpose. He smells like if you knew what was good for you, you wouldn’t let him out of your sight.
Perfumes:
Djinn -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Myths surrounding the Djinn paint them as many things: benevolent champions of mankind and slaves to mad sorcerers, malicious incubi / succubi and energy vampires, or malevolent harbingers of madness and disease.”
The scent of black smoke, of crackling flames, and smoldering ashes.
Silent Hill -- Spirit and Venom
“The combination of foggy air, deep fire smoke, dark pomegranate, and hints of overturned dirt and honey. Welcome to Silent Hill!”
Ifrit
Notes: black tea, brimstone, incense. Ifrit smells dark and clinging, slinky in a way that sets you on edge. He smells like going to sleep and knowing you won’t wake up.
Perfumes:
The Chapel -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“In the center of the room, a groveling figure is crouched before a woman draped in purple-black clerical robes. The woman’s eyes are filled with righteous hellfire, and she extends a hand in benediction to the man who has fallen prostrate at her feet. He murmurs, “Libera Te Ex Caelum”, and she gestures for him to rise. As he gets to his knees he winces in pain and moans in a strange expression of ecstasy, and you see small horns growing from his skull.”
Black incense, bitter wine, brimstone, bile, and blood.
Darkness -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Bottled gloom; the essence of oblivion. Blackest opium and narcissus deepened by myrrh.”
Mist
Notes: water, herbs, blood. Mist smells herbal and cold, like the transition of fall into winter. She smells a little bit sweet, a little bit metallic, a little bit dangerous. Her scent reminds you of rain so heavy and cold you can barely take a breath.
Perfumes:
Frostbite with Polar Bear Attack -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Slashes of sleet punctured by a coppery gout of blood.”
Villa Diodati -- Poesie Perfume
“A stately house on the edge of Lake Geneva, ringed by Swiss Alps so picturesque they look painted on the sky, in 1816 Villa Diodati hosted a group of travellers whose time there would forever be marked in history. As storms raged outside, in its candlelit rooms Mary Shelley conceived of her mad scientist and his iconic monster. Down the hall, poor Doctor Polidori (who was hopelessly in love with Mary and possibly Byron), was penning a little story that would inspire another little story. Bram Stoker’s Dracula. You may have heard of it.”
pungent wild rosemary and fresh balsam pine, crystal clear lakewater, dry, dark vanilla
Mountain
Notes: greenery, earth, poisonous mushrooms. Mountain smells like crushed leaves, like little brown mushrooms, like the change in the air when the calender hits October. He smells earthy and damp, as if he spent the day digging holes… for plants, of course. Right?
Perfumes:
Sinister Groundskeeper -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“A menacing figure in grassy overalls and mud-flecked boots, with a wheelbarrow full of sharp yet rust-stained implements. At least, it looks like rust…”
Clods of moist soil, crushed dandelions, and the coppery clove-tang of dried blood.
Death Cap -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“A lethal poison bundled up in a dainty, innocent little package that was oft times found in ancient witches’ flying ointments and astral projection balms. A warm, soft, ruddy scent, earthy and mild.”
Nimbus*
Notes: peach, rose, blood. Nimbus smells sweet – slightly earthy, slightly metallic – but overwhelmingly like peaches that are so ripe they fall apart in your hands. She smells like the thorn bushes that shrikes impale their prey on – but there aren’t any corpses in her garden. Probably.
Perfumes:
Sentence First, Verdict Afterwards -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Off with her head: white roses, tea roses, climbing roses, blood red roses, and a cluster of thorns, blood-spattered and sword-sharp, with clove bud and tobacco flower.”
Astaroth -- Fantome
“Ripe peaches, pumpkin flesh over a bed of red musk, honey cakes drizzled with white chocolate, & roasted pistachios.”
*i headcanon nimbus as a earth/air multi
Omega
Notes: wood, amber, ink. Omega smells like the ghost of a once-warm sitting room. He smells like amber, like polished wood, like seeing something out of the corner of your eye and feeling watched for hours afterward.
Perfumes:
Quintessence of Dust -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“The passing: beeswax and smoke, yellowed paper and well-worn leather books, droplets of spilled ink, faded incense, blood-tinged salty tears, and the metal of the knife that skewers that illiterate zombie philistine’s portrait.”
Parlour -- Fantome
“Parlour is an atmospheric fragrance that is inspired by a 19th century Parlour at the height of the Spiritualism movement. Conjuring the dimly-lit rooms filled with dusty spirt boards, sweet wood, and magic.”
A darkly polished mahogany rapping table, spirit boards, sweet rosewood chests, burning incense, and a hint of vetiver
(i have this one and i love it sm, it's the best woody scent in my collection)
Rain
Notes: seawater, ozone. Rain smells like the ocean right before a storm: murky, almost-sweet, hair-raising. He smells like swimming in deep water and feeling something grab your ankle a little bit too tight for you to believe that it was just kelp. But it had to be, surely there isn’t anything else down there…
Perfumes:
Cthulhu -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“A creeping, wet, slithering scent, dripping with seaweed, oceanic plants and dark, unfathomable waters.”
Circe Individiosa -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Salt-spray dotting an azure cove, its waters swirling with noxious poisons and venom drawn from dreadful roots: a cascade of blackcurrant and crystalline blue-green waters infused with theriac accord, bruised henbane accord, white gardenia, pear, cedarwood, emerald mosses, tuberose, and bitter almond.”
Sunshine/Stratus**
Notes: summer fruits, spices, smoke. Sunny smells like the end of summer, right as it turns into fall. She smells like roasting marshmallows, like sticky heat, like biting into a late-summer strawberry and finding it rotten inside.
Perfumes:
Tongue Wall -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Fleshy and fruity: guava musk, slick strawberry lip gloss, and blood-tainted digestive juices.”
Zombie -- Possets
“You really need a big dose of toasted marshmallow and oude, a bit of burnt stick, and the unmistakable fragrance of the crisp autumn air. The obvious combination, wouldn't you say? Resinous and foody at the same time. Smoky, sticky fun.”
**i headcanon sunny as a fire/air multi
Swiss***
Notes: smoke, musk, patchouli, blood. Swiss smells like darkness so thick that there could be something right in front of you and you would have no idea – or maybe right behind you. He smells like earthy resin, wine the color of blood, and curling smoke. Something about his scent leaves a metallic tang in the back of your throat.
Perfumes:
Dead for Filth -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Raw Patchouli, opoponax, and a coppery dry blood exhale.”
Nosferatu -- Black Baccara
“A rustling of leaves appears before the footfalls as a group of pale vampires emerge from the autumn darkness. They bring with them the aroma of archaic earth, deep red wine, tobacco smoke, and red roses.”
dark patchouli, deep red roses, aged red wine, dirt, tobacco smoke, and fireplace embers
***i headcanon swiss as a fire/water multi
Zephyr
Notes: dust, ozone, dry rot. Zephyr smells like a house long abandoned: dusty, faintly sweet, a little bit like rotting floorboards. It’s a scent that draws you in as much as it pushes you away – like a haunted house that has become so lonely, it will do anything to make you stay.
Perfumes:
Yorick -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
“Grave dirt, bone, decay, angel’s trumpet, and moldering scraps of shroud: the essence of finality.”
Attic Ghosts - Paranormal Perfumes
“Attic Ghosts is an antique, timeless Victorian mansion. The house on the hill. Flickering lights in the hallways, shadows in the windows. Footsteps. Apparitions. A locked door to the attic.”
dusty wood, chestnut, smoke whisps, vanilla absolute, orange blossom, rose petals, jasmine, vetiver
if you got this far, thank you for reading! this one was SO fun to make, i hope y'all like it too. (and as always i would love to talk more about this/hear other people's thoughts!!)

What They Smell Like
Jake:
back on Earth he grew accustomed to the many scents of ongoing pollution; so one of the ways to help cover up the pungent odors was with Axe body spray
Now Na’vi he wears his natural musky scent, deeply earthy, like freshly fallen rain
He enjoys his bathing rituals on Pandora due to the rich minerals in the waters, doing wonders for the hair and skin
He smells quite fresh usually, unless busy with Olo’eyktan duties so he freshens up
His kids have no problem teasing him to tell him he stinks (even though he doesn’t. They’re just being kids)
Neytiri:
she favors the floral scents, having been apprenticing under her mother for many years now she makes her own salves, tonics, body oils and perfumes
mostly consisting of Kllpxiwll (lionberry) Paywll (an aloe like plant), and sometimes banana fruit from eating it
The scents she wears she writes down for kiri because of her interest in flora and fauna as well
Neteyam:
it’s no secret the eldest sully is well kept and put together physically, but he also takes great pride in his personal hygiene and care
usually smelling like fresh white musk, and Tumpasuk (red-orange berry) he smells sweet and earthy
learning to press oils together for his braids, he opts for the Tumpasuk as its potent serum helps to maintain a healthy scalp and shine
he and Lo’ak have seen the lab guys use human hygiene products like shampoo, cologne and soap that he sometimes see Lo’ak use
he was given some old cologne from norm that he took a liking to called “dolce& gabbana light blue” although he can’t pronounce it, it smells incredible
Lo’ak:
usually out in the forest causing trouble with spider, he’s adapted to more loose hygiene ways, until spider and him went to the lab to see all the human things that spider has to use when he goes back to the base at the end of the day
Lo’ak took a liking to one of the guys’ axe body spray but spider made him throw it out because “only douchebags wear that”
his fascination with sky people objects has him opting for more chemistry related smells like old spice
his way of smelling clean is now carrying old spice deodorant wherever he goes because he’s paranoid of stinking
Tuk:
Tuk absolutely adores her siblings and does her best to mimic them in many ways
she has taken a liking to both the healing ways of her grandmother and some of the human products
she loves the scientists who constantly give her packs of Hubba Bubba Bubblegum so she usually has a pack of it on her at all times
she smells sweet like bubblegum from her endless supply, and the Healing Rose oil Neytiri made for her to put in her growing braids and to moisturize her skin
Lo’ak has on occasion brought back a green apple scent 3 in 1 body wash she liked when they visited the lab too
Kiri:
constantly exploring the forest and learning of the healing properties from her grandmother she has mastered the art of making her own shampoos, body exfoliants, balms, and cold pressed oils
she spends much time in the grass, smelling fresh like rainfall and sweet like the flowers around her
one of her favorite plants is the Lily Pad Tree, the leaves produce a sweet smelling flower she presses into oils and perfumes, along with the citrusy smell of the Pineapple Plant
her favorite pastime is making shampoos and cold pressed oils for her friends and family as gifts
Bonus! my oc Tani:
it’s no secret the lifestyle of an aspiring hunter like herself is rigorous and action packed, but on her down time she thoroughly enjoys spending time with Kiri learning how to make the products from scratch like balms, salves and even body butters
her favorite scent is a combination of Kllpxiwll (lionberry), musk, and the spicy smelling nectar from the Txumpaywll (Scorpion Thistle) although a deadly carnivorous plant, the nectar can be harvested and used for eating and making natural perfumes, pressed oils and more
she takes pride in changing her braids every month, using handmade shampoos and oils to keep her hair and scalp healthy; usually using the Healing Rose oil Kiri and Neytiri make together for her
her favorite fruit is the banana fruit, which has a thick calcium rich skin that can be ground and mixed into a rich body butter one of her coveted products
felt like dropping this as a little treat:) as a thank you for following me and reading my work. all flora and fauna mentioned are real plants that are on avatar wiki. I have take some artistic licenses with their uses and such. but it's actually 95% canon.

@salenrooz BET YO
im a SUCKER for scent headcanons i dont even care if its weird
jimmy/saul: k so separated the two for obvious reasons. saul absolutely smells like the worst male cologne in existence. like it’s so strong to the point where it just smells like chemicals. jimmy on the other hand? idk he looks like a clean linen bastard. like it would make sense if it was like the opposite right? like i feel like he doesnt smell like anything, like he smells like fresh laundry and the nail salon he has his office in yknow?
kim: ok ok ok so. kim grew up in what im assuming to be wasn’t the super cleanest house? like pet smells, cigarette smoke, dirty dishes and takeout boxes left on the counter. and i feel like when kim grew up she wanted to become her own person and that includes the way you smell. so i feel like she smells like rose petals, the muted smell of like,,an office filled with paperwork, you know what im talking about, please you have to, and cigarette smoke, because no matter how hard she tries, a part of her will always be stuck in the past.
mike: bruh ok uh like clean laundry, but more muted??? like an old man who lives alone, and he sits in his chair all day watching movies, but he also smells like motor oil and gunpowder and soil. kaylee always thinks it’s just because he goes on hunting trips, and no one ever thinks that it could possibly be because he’s out working for a drug kingpin every day.
howard: like lavender and burts bees hand salve. please i know thats weirdly specific but i dont know what else nails the whole “living natural” more than burts bees and lavender. also slightly like chlorine. though, near the end, maybe more like restless sleep, coffee, and salt.
gus: heres the thing. it depends. i think gus has become very very good at catering himself differently depending on who he’s around. so, if he’s just “gus the los pollos restaurant owner” probably just like old spice shampoo and deodorant. simple. humble. but if he’s “gustavo fring drug kingpin visiting madrigal hq/ cartel connections” then he’s probably wearing just the right amount of cologne, like bergamot or teakwood, something citrus-y.
nacho: like motor oil and leather from working in his dad’s shop, but i feel when he’s at home or if it’s like just him it’s a lot of floral scents, mostly from the girls, but also partly his own doing. not that he uses perfume necessarily, but he’ll light a candle to get the weed smell out of the air and it’s almost always some type of flower. usually rose, or gardenia or something not too overpowering, but still nice. mostly he just smells good, but like,,,not in a comforting way, in a hot way. yknow?
lalo: it’s been like. 2 months and im not over how this bitch would smell. ive said it once and ill say it again, i have and will never meet lalo salamanca because he isn’t real, but the way he smells gives me dysphoria bc you know it’s really good and vv masculine. his grandfather used to burn palo santo because he claimed it helped with headaches. lalo never saw any merit to the claim, but he liked the smell, so when his grandfather passed away he nicked the rest of the burning wood and now his own house just kind of constantly smells like palo santo. has a tendency to use really woodsy scents when it comes to like shampoo and stuff, and he usually smells like spices or cooking oil or something. good god i love him i wanna give him a hug.
chuck: i felt bad leaving him out. chuck smells like plastic and gasoline and like,,,a library in a really weird way. im not saying its good or bad, im just saying it is. kind of probably constantly smells like somethings burning but its not. its just the wires he recklessly tore out of the wall.
bonus!
skyler white: there needed to b more women in this post ok brba and bcs are really bad for the bechdel test and it makes me mad!!! anyways, i think skyler would smell good yo! like god dude idk like she smells comforting in the same sense that your mom was comforting as a kid, and she smelled like home yknow?
lydia rodarte-quayle: the same paper scent kim has but stronger. also like herbal teas and cinnamon. and coffee. shes not one to like douse herself in perfume or whatever, but i dont think shes beyond indulging in an expensive fragrance yknow what i mean? lydia smells good but also you can tell she’s rich when she walks by you.
#better call saul#jimmy mcgill#saul goodman#kim wexler#mike ehrmantraut#howard hamlin#gustavo fring#nacho varga#lalo salamanca#chuck mcgill#skyler white#lydia rodarte quayle#better call saul headcannons

SnowBaz Tea: SSCoNE 2024
As part of our 2024 event, we had a tea party at The Bookworm in Omaha. I was tasked with deciding which teas we would be having. And by "tasked with," I mean I took this task on myself without asking despite the fact that @shrekgogurt was in charge of food. But at least it was still related to an activity, which I was in charge of, right?
Anyway, I, along LavenderSprinkles and RynMar (neither on tumblr, but both on AO3), spent a lot of time looking at different teas for the best SnowBazzy options to have at our tea party. We had to narrow it down to 3, but I found so many good options, I didn't want them to go to waste! And I didn't get a chance to talk much about the ones I did decided on, either.
For now, I'll just discuss the teas we did choose. The tea house all of these blends come from is my absolute favorite: Friday Afternoon Tea (Whoa, I just discovered they're on tumblr! Hi @friday-tea!). It is a queer latine owned and operated small business that specializes in creating blends inspired by your favorite fandoms. It has been called "The Gayest Tea Shop on the West Coast" by Cosmopolitan Magazine: a title that the owner and employees proudly carry. No, they don't pay me for this. I just really freaking love their tea and the community they strive to create. So who else would I go to for our SnowBaz tea party?
French Cookie
Ingredients: Black tea, almond, orange peel (replaced with lemon peel to avoid an allergy in the group), natural vanilla and almond flavoring
Fandom Blend? No, house blend
Representing: Simon
This tea can actually come as a black tea, a rooibos, or an oolong. I had originally planned for rooibos to make sure we had a decaf option, but once I found Small Lady, I went back to our tried and true favorite black tea base.
This is one has been a long time coming. Back when I first read the series, LavenderSprinkles and I spent all of our free time thinking about the characters. At one point I asked her, "If Simon were a tea, what tea would he be?" She immediately answered "almond rooibos." (Though in my opinion, it's a better fit for what Simon would actually drink than what Simon would be. Either way, it's Simony). It wasn't until planning for SSCoNE that I realized (and she confirmed) that she was specifically thinking about French Cookie. Since the original discussion, LavenderSprinkles has started getting the black tea version for iced tea in the summer, and it's delicious, so we knew it would work great for the tea party. I think I'll have to go back and try the rooibos version again, though!
Derpy Hooves
Ingredients: Black tea, white tea, marigold, natural vegan cream flavoring, bergamot oil
Fandom Blend? My Little Pony
Representing: Baz
I knew I wanted a floral tea for Baz, and Derpy Hooves delivered! I hadn't had it before and it was so good, at least for a floral tea lover like myself. And bergamot oil? Obviously.
I had no idea what fandom this was from when I picked it. Once I realized it was My Little Pony, I just about died. My first thought was "Baz would be horrified!" After a moment, though, I decided that Baz would secretly know all about MLP becuase of his sisters. Ever since I started thinking about what the crew would wear to see Barbie (omg, a whole year ago???), I've had a headcanon that Petra is a total horse girl.
There were sooo many good Baz teas, but a lot of them were very... unusual. For the tea party, we figured a tea that would be appealing to lots of people would be the better choice, so I picked a more moderate flavor profile, but I am very excited to talk about some of the other ones I found in a future post!
Small Lady
Ingredients: Rooibos, sour cherry, strawberry, pink peppercorn, sugar star sprinkles (removed because of potential soy allergen), pink lustre dust, natural black cherry flavoring, bergamot oil
Fandom Blend? Sailor Moon
Representing: A Lady Ruth Tea Party
I mean. Sour cherry and bergamot oil alone are Simon and Baz. Add in the pink, the glitter, the black cherry, the strawberry, the sprinkles and tell me you don't have a Lady Ruth creation on your hands. And yes, I said glitter! Unfortunatley this didn't come through at the tea party. I think the tea bags I put the loose leaf in didn't allow for the glitter to escape. But I promise you it's adorable and that glitter makes it through all but the finest grained teabags and steepers. When I brew it at home, it is sparkling.
This was the most commented-on tea at the party (in a good way), and it makes sense! It's fun and fruity and light and can be as gay as it wants. It can even be extra gay, as a treat! (Seriously, you could order this and ask them to add glitter of every color or rainbow sprinkles or something.) (They might charge extra if you get really wild -- I'm not sure.)
Bonus Tea: AO3
Ingredients: Oolong tea, aloe vera, orange peel, osmanthus, natural orange flavoring, natural cream aroma
Fandom Blend? General fandom
Representing: All of us weirdos
We ended up not getting this one for the tea party because it's so orange heavy (an allergen for some), and taking out or substituting the orange would just not be the same. But when I tell you I squealed when they revealed this blend for the first time! Unfortunately, I forgot to get some before it went out of seasons, so I will eagerly await its return next year.
That's all for now. I will have at least one more post with some of the runner up teas, but I have a feeling this might become a series with how many teas are in the (always growing) Friday Afternoon Tea catalogue alone.

What shampoo do you guys use?
"We use different ones because we have different hair and scalps. . .I've been using &honey Melty Moist lately, but I'm always trying different stuff to see what's any good and check out what's trending or what could be the next big thing. "I don't have a huge hair care routine though--scalp massage, hot water rinse, shampoo maybe twice a week because my hair's so thick I've gotta do it way too often, rinse, deep condition or maybe throw on a hair mask, rinse cold, dry a little with a towel, blow dry and brush out. Done! I My hair's always got a nice floral scent to it, usually because I top it off with a bit of hair mist once I'm done--but the usual shampoos and conditioners and stuff I use are flower scents."
"I try different products too--my scalp gets dry easily just like the rest of my skin, so I have to find things that work well without aggravating it and without leaving too much residue which means a lot more experimentation than you would think. That also means I don't shampoo my hair very often at all--once a week, sometimes less. I've been trying out Rossano Ferretti's Dolce for a little while now. "My hair care routine is a bit more involved than Kurossa's. I start with a scalp massage too, but I brush it out thoroughly afterwards. Both will help loosen dead skin and product buildup from your scalp to make it wash out more thoroughly. If I have a lot of product buildup or it's gotten especially dirty somehow, I use a pre-wash oil too. I never shower in hot water unless I'm absolutely filthy, only slightly warm or cold--hot water dries out your skin and hair and washes away your natural oils!!--so whether I rinse or shampoo it's the same temperature, but I try and wash my hair in warm water when I condition so I can put on a plastic shower cap and give the moisture time to seep in. If I'm not using a leave-in conditioner then I wash it out with lukewarm water once I've finished with the rest of my shower. Once I'm out of the shower I let my hair air dry as much as possible--I'll do a very light, pat-dry with a towel if it's dripping wet still, but once it's dried a little bit and it's damp I put in some hair oil, put on another cap, do the rest of my skincare routine and get dressed, then style it. It's a bit of a complicated procedure, but I manage to save time since I can do so much of my other daily prep while waiting on it."
"I do not envy you. I would hate to have to spend that much time working on my hair."
#Anonymous#answers#present: romeo#present: leo#((anon i don't know anything about haircare or skincare or anything like that LMAO i hope these answers make sense))#((leo's hair looks thick and romeo canonically has issues with his skin being dry and as someone with dry hair and scalp. . .i gave up lol)#((i cba to spend the time and money and effort on trying to get hair that i would like to have. i just accept my hair as it is haha))#((anyway i spent like. two hours on this response and then tumblr's app crashed or closed on its own from an update or something ))#((and i had to redo the whole thing but i couldn't remember all of it but i think this i smost of it? it's 6am gonna try and sleep again lo#((i don't even fully know that those products match their hair lmaoooo))

5 essential oil use in daily life for massage therapy, Aromatherapy
Many people nowadays prioritize leisure and well-being in today's fast-paced society. Amidst the chaos of daily life, essential oils emerge as versatile and natural tools to achieve moments of serenity. This article embarks on a journey through the realm of essential oils, uncovering five remarkable options that can elevate your daily life through the wonders of massage therapy and aromatherapy. But first, let's delve deeper into the captivating world of essential oils.
The Essence of Essential Oils
Pros
Natural and chemical-free.
Versatile applications, from massages to diffusers.
Aromatherapy offers emotional well-being benefits.
Cons
Requires proper dilution before skin contact.
Quality is paramount; opt for pure, therapeutic-grade oils.
1. Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender oil stands as the Swiss Army knife of essential oils, boasting a multitude of benefits that extend to both massage therapy and aromatherapy:
Pros
Eases stress and anxiety.
Induces restful sleep and relaxation.
Exhibits remarkable soothing properties for minor skin irritations.
Cons
The potent scent might be overwhelming for some individuals.
2. Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint oil is your gateway to revitalization and mental clarity:
Pros
Effective in alleviating headaches and migraines.
Relieves muscle tension, invigorating the body.
Acts as a sinus-clearing agent and enhances focus and concentration.
Cons
Its intensity might be too much when used undiluted.
3. Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Eucalyptus oil serves as a breath of fresh air for both your body and mind:
Pros
Clears nasal congestion, facilitating effortless breathing.
Excellent for soothing muscle pain and discomfort.
Combats cold and flu symptoms, promoting overall well-being.
Cons
It is not suitable for young children or individuals with respiratory sensitivity.
4. Chamomile Essential Oil
Chamomile oil brings tranquility and serenity to your daily routine:
Pros
Mitigates anxiety and stress, promoting emotional balance.
Soothes skin irritations and inflammation.
Encourages a peaceful night's sleep, aiding insomnia sufferers.
Cons
Individuals with ragweed allergies should exercise caution when using chamomile.
5. Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil stands as your loyal companion in the realm of skincare and beyond:
Pros
Effectively treats acne and blemishes, fostering clear skin.
Boasts natural antiseptic and anti-fungal properties.
Cleanses and refreshes the scalp, promoting healthy hair.
Cons
It is best used in moderation because it may be drying to the skin and scalp.
Using Essential Oils in Your Daily Routine
What is the best way to use essential oils?
Massage Therapy: Dilute a few drops of your favorite essential oil with a carrier oil like jojoba or sweet almond oil. Engage in targeted massages to alleviate muscle tension or pamper you with a full-body massage to unwind after a long day.
Aromatherapy: Embrace the tranquility of aromatherapy by investing in a high-quality diffuser or oil burner. Add a few drops of your preferred essential oil to the water and let the aromatic mist infuse your space, setting the stage for relaxation and rejuvenation.
DIY Products: Tap into your creative side by crafting natural products like body scrubs, bath salts, or room sprays using essential oils. These personalized creations not only enhance your self-care routine but also make thoughtful gifts for loved ones.
Skincare and Hair Care: Enhance your everyday grooming rituals by using essential oils into your skincare and hair care regimens. Enhance the efficacy of your moisturizers and shampoos by adding a drop or two of your chosen oil, reaping the benefits of their therapeutic properties.
The Fragrance of a Fulfilling Life!
As you embrace the incorporation of essential oils into your daily life for massage therapy and aromatherapy, you open the door to a world of transformation. Whether you seek relaxation, vitality, or relief from everyday challenges, these five essential oils can serve as your trusted allies on your path to wellness. Remember that the quality of the essential oils you select is critical to realizing their full potential. So, make wise selections and immerse yourself in the enchanting scents that lead to a more harmonious and blissful existence, one drop at a time.

I started thinking about what Zelda would smell like, and here's what I've come up with for the three girls.
Ocarina of Time Zelda - She smells of various flowers due to the amount of time she spends in the Royal Gardens. The prominent flower is likely Rose, but I like to think there would be other floral notes like Sweet Pea or Gardenia. There's also traces of almond as well, which would be a nod to her liking of sweets and baking, and parchment because she spends so much time either reading or working on documents.
Twilight Princess Zelda - Her scent would undoubtedly be lavender and vanilla, which is one of my absolute favorite scent combinations. An alternate would probably be traces of tea, such as chamomile, and parchment as well (because similar to OoT Zelda, she spends a bulk of her time either reading or working on royal documents).
Hyrule Warriors Zelda - When out fighting alongside the Hyrulean Forces, she has a more earthy scent of pine and cedarwood from her increased time out in nature. When back in the castle, she smells more of herbs (such as rosemary and sage) with bergamot due to the bath oils and perfume she uses.

Soo about art history! Well I studied a lot about applied art history - I really hope that's the right word but it's like furniture and stuff as well around architecture, sculpted and painted art (boii oh boi I really don't know the English terms sorry!!) And that was really interesting and I love learning more bc there's always so much more to know! I think my studies mainly focused on being able to put dates on art pieces and sort them into a time period - but also.. random funny artist stories my beloved XD Also for my thesis I had a look at Soviet war memorials so that's up my alley as well!
Hbu? Do you have any fav periods/genres/artists? :3
ooh applied art history sounds great! i wish my courses covered more architecture and practical crafts like furniture, it's pretty centered on painting and sculpture for the most part. and Soviet war memorials?? damn that's such a good topic, and hey hell yeah, congratulations on writing a thesis!!
and YES i do have favourites, putting it below a read-more sdkfgh:
RIGHT so my favourite movement is absolutely Impressionism, i love the depiction of light and the painting style of lots of small distinct brushstrokes is Such a wonderful effect. i'd have to say Claude Monet is one of my all time favourite artists, i especially love his sunsets:
Impression, Sunrise, 1872, oil on canvas, 48 × 63 cm, Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris
Also really like his snowy landscapes, and how he paints water, as well as his colour choices! it's not really displayed in these paintings, but in a lot of his more natural landscapes- especially the floral ones- the colours are so vibrant :D
Train in the Snow, 1875, oil on canvas, 59 x 78cm, Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris
The Magpie, 1869, oil on canvas, 89 x 130cm, Musée d'Orsay, Paris
The Water Lily Pond (Nymphéas), 1904, oil on canvas, 90 x 92cm, private collection
The Bridge at Argenteuil, 1874, oil on canvas, 60.5 x 80cm, Musée d'Orsay, Paris
Similarly, I really like J.M.W. Turner, particularly for his dramatic seascapes and his paintings of ruins! Some favourites would be:
Fishermen at Sea/The Cholmeley Sea Piece, 1796, oil on canvas, 91.4 x 122.2cm, Tate Britain, London
The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons, 16th October, 1834, 1934, oil on canvas, 92 x 123cm, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia
Melrose Abbey, 1822, pencil and watercolour on paper, 19.6 x 13.3cm, private collection
and these are some more things I've studied that I ended up really liking!
Edouard Manet: he was So controversial in nineteenth century Paris it's ridiculous, and i found it fun to look at all the layers of constructed identity in his works! Most well known for Olympia.
Chez le père Lathuille, 1879, oil on canvas, Musée des Beaux-Arts Tournai
Caravaggio: LOVE the horror and detail and drama of his works, third life enjoyers might like all the beheadings skjfhdg. highly recommend looking into this guy's life story and historical context because he. man. he sure was a character! it's also hilarious to read about how hated he was for painting in a naturalistic style. (and. the murder but honestly it seems like they hated his painting more)
Saint Jerome Writing, c. 1605-6, oil on canvas, 112 × 157 cm, Galleria Borghese (one of the tamest of his works skjdfh)
Hiroshige Utagawa and Katsushika Hokusai: had a unit on Japanese print making and !!! i hadn't known much about print as a medium but Holy Shit it's so versatile and the works by these artists are just stunning! want to look more into print for sure :D
Utagawa Hiroshige, Plum Garden, Kamata (Kamata no Umezono), in One Hundred Views of Edo, 1856–59, woodblock print, 34 x 24.1 cm, Brooklyn Museum
Awa Province: Naruto Whirlpools, in Famous Places in the Sixty-odd Provinces, 1855, woodblock print, 36.5 x 24.4 cm, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Hokusai made SO MUCH work but his most famous work by far is:
Katsushika Hokusai, Under the Wave Off Kanagawa, in Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, woodblock print, 1830-1832, 25.7 x 37.8 cm, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City
Gothic architecture: haven't gone into much depth with architecture, really liked what i learnt though, and the round arches, ribbed vaults, and tall windows with stained glass are beautiful.
St. Francis Xavier Church, c. 1840, Amsterdam, Holland
and thank you so much for the ask!!! i'd love to hear more about anything art history related from you (or anyone else!), as specific or in depth as you like :D

Does the LIs have any preference for scent? What kind of scent they like and dislike?
The Physician enjoys the smell of rain, especially walking through the forest while or after it is/has been raining. The smell of earth is soothing to her. She only dislikes decidedly bad smells, and even though she dislikes them, they barely even make her flinch - she's extremely used to all sorts of smells, due to interacting with sick people a lot, and a bit desensitised.
Aubrey often wears rose perfume, so that's a scent that he likes a lot. It feels luxurious to him. He absolutely adores the scent of frankincense, too - it's a bit exotic to him. He doesn't like the smell of greasy food, even though he likes the flavours from time to time.
Vesa's absolute favourite scent is lilacs, and she also loves lavender. She also highly enjoys the scent of a variety of alcoholic drinks - absinthe, brandy, and so on. Pipe smoke, too - she has gotten used to it, after working in a lounge, and it feels very familiar to her. She doesn't like the scent of seaweed too much. She grew up close to the sea, but she never got used to that particular smell.
Narciso enjoys luxurious scents. Perfumes and scented oils. Especially either sweet or spicy ones, preferably with some richness to them. He also enjoys the scent of tea. He dislikes the smell of smoke. Even though the warmth of a fireplace is nice, the scent makes him dizzy.
Roswhen absolutely loves floral scents all in all. The smell of nature brings them joy. They don't like scents that smell too artificial and unnatural. It might very well give them a headache.
Elan loves the scent of cinnamon, cardamom, and other scents that are spicy yet on the sweet side. There is something pleasant, homely, and nostalgic about them. He also loves the scent of wood - that, too, is familiar and cosy to him, since he worked in the forest. He doesn't like the smell of alcohol; if he would drink something strong to calm himself or such, he would hold his breath.

Ghoul scent associations pt. 4 - Imaginary Authors edition
Imaginary Authors is one of my favorite perfume companies, and I recently got samples of their entire collection! Of course, my first thought was to apply that to the ghouls. So here that is!!
Some of these are ones that I used on other lists that I still agree with, but most of them are new. Also, as is the nature of using a very limited number of options, not all of them fit perfectly, but I did my best, and I think like 90% of them fit very well.
Usual warning: This might look weird on mobile, but it should be good on desktop. Apologies, I'd fix it if I knew how.
Aeon: TELEGRAMA – Imaginary Authors
Talc, lavender absolute, black pepper, teak, amyris, vanilla powder, fresh linens
Telegrama is a very powdery, peppery, gentle lavender scent that fades into soft vanilla. If it was a color, it would be a gray-purple so pale it almost looks white. It’s comforting but not childish, classic but unique. It smells like Aeon’s particular brand of simple comfort.
Aether: Blend No. 83 – Imaginary Authors
Dark chocolate, sugar cane rum, Arabica coffee, velvety foam, benzoin, musk
Blend No. 83 is a sweet, musky, chocolate-coffee scent modeled after an espresso martini, but it isn’t as gourmand as it sounds. It settles into a dark musk with the suggestion of coffee and chocolate. It’s grown-up but not at all boring, just like Aether.
Alpha: BULL'S BLOOD – Imaginary Authors
Geranium, Spanish rose, patchouli, black musk, tobacco, sandalwood, bull's blood
Bull’s Blood is very musky, smoky, and spicy, and comes on strong enough to knock you over. However, it’s also very sweet, and dries down to more of a smoky-sweet almost-floral. It’s not too serious but has an almost shocking intensity to it, and is potentially polarizing – like Alpha. If it was a color it would be dark burgundy.
Cirrus: SAINT JULEP – Imaginary Authors
Sweet mint, tangerine, southern magnolia, bourbon, grisalva, sugarcube
Saint Julep is a very sweet, realistic gourmand with notes of mint and tangerine in the foreground and bourbon in the background. Despite being lovely in a very straightforward way, it’s dimensional and grown-up, which reminds me of Cirrus, and has light, minty notes that remind me of air as an element.
Cumulus: FOX IN THE FLOWERBED – Imaginary Authors
Jasmine, tulips, frankincense, wildflower honey, pink peppercorns, silver thistle, alpine air
Fox in the Flowerbed is a very pretty, cloying, sweet jasmine and honey scent that makes me think of a field of wildflowers high up on a mountain. This scent is sweet and sticky but also light in a way that reminds me of Cumulus. If it was a color it would be pale blue.
Dewdrop: A CITY ON FIRE – Imaginary Authors
Cade oil, spikenard, cardamom, clearwood, dark berries, labdanum, a burnt match
This is very smoky and woody in the beginning, but it fades into a sweet berry scent. It really does smell like fire and matches. It reminds me of spending all night next to a bonfire. It’s almost overpowering at first, but sweet underneath, just like Dew.
(Also, this was one of the fragrances that solidified Dew's scent for me. All the other ones I've picked for him are based on this lmao)
Ifrit: O, UNKNOWN! – Imaginary Authors
Black tea, lapsang souchong tincture, orris butter, Kyoto moss, musk balsam, sandalwood
This is a very subdued, powdery black tea scent. It’s musky and dark, very mysterious, and somehow not at all gourmand. It’s dark and faintly smoky in a way befitting of a fire ghoul, with the black tea scent that I associate with Ifrit. If it was a color it would be a gray so dark it’s almost black.
Mist: FALLING INTO THE SEA – Imaginary Authors
Lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, lychee, tropical flowers, warm sand
Falling into the Sea is a sweet, citrusy, tropical scent that has a balmy, sandy, coconut background. It smells like a tropical beach on a perfect day. If it was a color it would be the shade of teal that super-clear water is. I typically associate greener, more aquatic scents with Mist, but this fits a different interpretation of her. Mist in a very good mood, maybe.
Mountain: CAPE HEARTACHE – Imaginary Authors
Douglas fir, pine resin, western hemlock, vanilla leaf, strawberry, old growth, mountain fog
Cape Heartache is a gorgeous, sweet pine and strawberry scent. It’s very forest-y without being too atmospheric, and it smells like the fantasy version of a lush, foggy old growth forest. It feels very slow, peaceful, and grounded, and is a mix of masc and fem, which reminds me of Mountain. (Also I smelled this for the first time and absolutely fell in love with it, which I kinda did with Mountain too lmao) If it was a color it would be the silvery green of evergreen needles.
Nimbus/Aurora: SLOW EXPLOSIONS – Imaginary Authors
Saffron, rose absolute, leather, apple, benzoin, cashmeran, Arpora night market
Slow Explosions is sweet and fruity with an earthy element from the leather. It’s pretty and almost delicate until you register the deeper, more grounded notes, similar to the way Nimbus seems dainty at first glance but decidedly is not. Overall lovely. If it was a color it would be glowy yellow-orange.
Omega: MEMOIRS OF A TRESPASSER – Imaginary Authors
Madagascar vanilla, guaiacwood, myrrh, benzoin resin, ambrette seeds, oak barrels
Memoirs of a Trespasser is a very woody scent with a little bit of smokiness and vanilla. There’s also something a little bit animalic. It reminds me of a late 1800s adventurer type with lots of maps and wooden chests full of interesting things. It’s sophisticated and mysterious with a sense of worldliness that fits Omega.
Rain: EVERY STORM A SERENADE – Imaginary Authors
Danish spruce, eucalyptus, vetiver, calone, ambergris, Baltic sea mist
This scent smells like a rocky coast, lined with evergreen trees and blanketed in mist. It’s cold, multifaceted, and surprisingly magnetic (like Rain). I don’t usually like aquatics but this is beautiful, it's one of my new favorites from Imaginary Authors. If it was a color it would be dark greenish-blue.
Sunshine/Stratus: IN LOVE WITH EVERYTHING – Imaginary Authors
Raspberry, citrus pulp, coconut palm sugar, Madame Isaac Pereire (rose), sandalwood, tropical punch, stardust
This scent is very raspberry/fruit punch heavy with a sandalwood undertone. It isn’t overwhelmingly sweet, but it’s very fruity. It’s Miami-in-the-80s themed and that definitely shows. It’s playful, fun, and sweet-but-grounded, just like Sunny. If it was a color it would be magenta.
Swiss: A WHIFF OF WAFFLECONE – Imaginary Authors
Vanilla, salted caramel, Saigon cinnamon, heavy cream, sandalwood, orgeat, scoop shop
This scent is a gourmand with a woody background. To me it smells like burnt sugar, heavy, clingy sandalwood, vanilla, and sweet spices. It’s more mature than the notes would lead you to believe. It isn’t the type of scent I usually associate with Swiss, but I can see it fitting an alternate interpretation. Maybe quint/fire or true multi Swiss. However, it does have the sweet, intense, almost smothering qualities I associate with him. If it was a color it would be the very light gold of slightly caramelized sugar.
Zephyr: YESTERDAY HAZE – Imaginary Authors
Fig, iris, cream, tonka, tree bark, walnut bitters, orchard dust
Yesterday Haze is a smooth, creamy but dry, slightly sweet scent. It smells sort of antique, but not outdated. It’s sophisticated and very pretty, like Zephyr, and has the dusty, powdery feel I associate with them.
(One of my absolute favorites from IA, for what it’s worth)
Thank you for reading!!
