Adding onto this again bc it also bothers me. The catagorization of art styles is an insane concept to me. Im not talking about general terms like realism, cubism, plein air-- because art styles vary individually under those direct stylistic choices that serve as a broader category (usually with historical or medium-based context). Something I see on tiktok a lot is that this younger generation of artists that is rising up, while absurdly talented and well versed in many technical aspects of art that I can currently only dream of, are slotting themselves into pre-defined art styles. This fits back in with the categorization of people as aesthetics, but with art as expression.

There isn't anything inherently wrong with this on a moral level, and I'm really just ranting. But ranting is fine, idc anymore. It's worrying to see the term 'art style' change over time. When I was a kid, it was an individual thing- you really only copied it in order to better understand the technical aspects of another artists work. Being able to see someones art and dissect It's unique components so accurately that you can create something that looks recognizably like their style is a VERY hard skill, and Ill die before I claim that it is easy or a waste of time. My real concern is that art styles are becoming a 'pre-packaged' thing, for lack of a better way to phrase it. I notice that on platforms like tiktok where the names if these styles are big buzzwords, artists who don't conform their art into a 'pre-packaged' art style have a hard time gaining traction. This is very disappointing, as there are many artists on that platform making incredible and very distinct works that just aren't easily seen by the people who will appreciate them due to this problem.

Really fucking jarring because, like, what are they trying to say? I dont want to say I'm absolutely certain (because this is a really big accusation to just throw out without hard evidence) but I see a lot of these kinds of photos online where it's a picture of a conventionally attractive woman being infantalized with weird sexual undertones (See her expression, the angle of the photo, ect.) Again, not hard evidence, but there's a lot of shit online specifically to pander to pedophelic audiences without being "explicitly wrong." I can say for certain that Im not the only person who's noticed these kinds of pictures and been really put off by them. In this instance, I nearly scrolled past this because I assumed it was just one of those posts. Even stranger, if I'm right and this is done intentionally, then the message is "pedophiles support genocide." And that's a terrifying message to see online for a lot of very obvious reasons. One of the less obvious one's being that's Isreal doesn't belive themselves that they are justified, and are seeking the assistance of like-mind people (like-minded people being criminally disgusting individuals such as pedophiles, for example.)

I know this is a slightly off-topic rant that focuses more on pedophiles over the atrocities being committed by Israel against the people of Gaza and Palestine- but I think its at the very least something to take note of.

I love Devil Man Crybaby for its portrayal of Satan and sin. Often in media where Satan is portrayed in a human/semi-human form, their influence on others is either minimal or non-existent. In dmcb, Ryo brings out the worst in every character. He openly encourages Akira to hurt people and indulge in his most inhumane desires, knowing that Amon would make it harder for him to resist. It is his influence that, quite literally, causes the world's people to become violent and break down their societies.
