Rosy: My husband was told to remove these videos in order for his account to go back to normal. This list includes videos of the IDF stealing rugs, riding stolen bicycles, and dancing in celebration of the destruction in Gaza. Meta says they go against their "guidelines on weapons" but I'm sure Israel is pressuring Meta to remove posts that make the IDF look like the a-holes they are.
Caption: Straight up CENSORSHIP!
akbarpirani content can't be shown to non followers anymore. Meta told him if he takes down these videos, they will restore his account reach.
Why dies Meta want these particular videos down? There's no use of weapons in them.

This is so disgusting. @Meta keeps shutting down fundraisers meant to keep people alive - actively starving people. Follow all the Ibrahim For Gaza accounts below, give 💸 whenever you can, and amplify their message - Gaza deserves to live!
Repost from @essssraaa
•
Meta unexpectedly shut down our main account @ibrahimforgaza with no warning or explanation.
This account is a mutual aid humanitarian account focused on documenting our many mutual aid projects on the ground. This account was built up with the intention of increasing our reach in order to support our people surviving this catastrophe we are collectively experiencing. Meta’s censorship directly impacts our ability to fund our projects and support our people. Meta is complicit in the our people’s destruction and we demand that our account be reactivated.
We need your help! We need you to:
✊🏽 tag meta and bug them continuously to reactivate our account. Email them, DM them, tag them, do all the things! Tell them to reactivate our accounts @ibrahimforgaza, @ibrahimforgaza2, and @ibrahimforgaza3
✊🏽 take a moment to give a gift today:
✊🏽 help us get eyes on this!

Friends, I just wanna mention that my Instagram is severely suppressed because 99% of my stories are about Palestine. I noticed months ago that my engagement is nearly non-existent. As in, 10 views on a story, 10 likes on a post, etc.
Anyway, screw meta, screw Isnotreal and Free Palestine byotches and follow me there to engage more with Palestine content just to spite them.
In spite of everything they’re trying to do to block our voices, I just see their actions as the pathetic floundering of someone who’s lost so badly yet doesn’t have the self respect or dignity to accept it 💅😌

The @palestinaemportugues (https://t.me/palestinaemportugues) page has been inaccessible for several hours. Before being censored by Instagram, this page already had more than 20 thousand followers, and its publications reached hundreds or thousands of people daily.
This is the latest in an extensive list of pages that have been deleted or whose publication reach has been greatly limited by Instagram and Facebook. The silencing of pro-Palestinian voices makes Meta one of the biggest accomplices in the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
We reinforce the appeal to our followers to follow us here on Telegram and on our website: http://guilhotina.info

I made a comment on an Instagram post some minutes ago, it was immediately taken down. I made the exact same comment in the same post some minutes later, and I removed only the two tags I've used previously. The comment is still up.

Meta has engaged in a “systemic and global” censorship of pro-Palestinian content since the outbreak of the Israel-Gaza war on 7 October, according to a new report from Human Rights Watch (HRW). In a scathing 51-page report, the organization documented and reviewed more than a thousand reported instances of Meta removing content and suspending or permanently banning accounts on Facebook and Instagram. The company exhibited “six key patterns of undue censorship” of content in support of Palestine and Palestinians, including the taking down of posts, stories and comments; disabling accounts; restricting users’ ability to interact with others’ posts; and “shadow banning”, where the visibility and reach of a person’s material is significantly reduced, according to HRW. Examples it cites include content originating from more than 60 countries, mostly in English, and all in “peaceful support of Palestine, expressed in diverse ways”. Even HRW’s own posts seeking examples of online censorship were flagged as spam, the report said. “Censorship of content related to Palestine on Instagram and Facebook is systemic and global [and] Meta’s inconsistent enforcement of its own policies led to the erroneous removal of content about Palestine,” the group said in the report, citing “erroneous implementation, overreliance on automated tools to moderate content, and undue government influence over content removals” as the roots of the problem.
[...]
Users of Meta’s products have documented what they say is technological bias in favor of pro-Israel content and against pro-Palestinian posts. Instagram’s translation software replaced “Palestinian” followed by the Arabic phrase “Praise be to Allah” to “Palestinian terrorists” in English. WhatsApp’s AI, when asked to generate images of Palestinian boys and girls, created cartoon children with guns, whereas its images Israeli children did not include firearms.

Dean complimenting fellow queer people on their game
Bonus inverse, trying to out-game someone to vicariously flirt for/with your presumed-but-not-at-all-straight friend who has no game whatsoever:

Saw the director of Addicted Heroin Thailand had posted this on his Facebook account:
This man looked at the show that was the tipping point of the first big anti-gay censorship wave in China in the 2010s, and decided to remake it and intentionally self-censor, just to see if he could attract the "Chinese BL is superior because it doesn't rely on kisses or NC scenes to show the emotions" audience to Thai BL?
I am so mad about this.
#addicted heroin th#addicted heroin thailand#addicted heroin the series#bl meta#fandom meta#honestly i don't care if this is justifcation after the fact or if it was what he set out to do#either way this rhetoric horrifies me#What a deep misunderstanding of the importance of the series we have had from China during this period#for pushing against censorship rather than voluntarily enforcing it where it doesn't exist#also what disrespect to the source material and the original series#to imply that the physical affection between the characters cheapens their romance or their acting in some way#and honestly i can't get over how utterly his plan has backfired#because the censorship itself has been the biggest barrier to me enjoying or recommending this show#typed so that i can stop thinking it

The timing was ironic.
The Breach’s production assistant logged into Instagram on Friday to share a graphic asking readers to subscribe to our newsletter and bookmark our homepage in case Meta and Google cut off other pathways to our work.
Instead, she saw an error message. She clicked on our Instagram profile and saw another error message, the one that has been popping up on the accounts of other media outlets. “People in Canada can’t see this content,” it said.
All of The Breach’s posts, including a recent infographic exposing the climate harms of Canada’s 2023 wildfire season and a story summary about Quebec tenants fighting back against bad policy, were gone.
The Breach is an independent news outlet, funded mostly by readers, that operates as a non-profit. We produce investigations, analysis and video content about the crises of racism, inequality, colonialism and climate breakdown. Thousands of new readers discover The Breach on Instagram, Facebook and Google every month, or use those platforms to share our work. [...]

MXTX: so the story starts with the main character's death. Then we unravel his story and how he tried his best but had to resort to fucked up methods in order to create real change and save lives, how society supported him while it benefited them and then turned on him when it was convenient, how his complicated social status of being gentry-adjacent was intrinsically tied into every decision he made AND how he was judged before during and after those decisions, how he experienced abuse and abandonment and support and love, saved lives AND killed people. He sacrificed everything but never compromised his ideals once, and it got him killed.
MXTX: and then we close the story on the death of this other guy, who we're also shown having gone through ALL THAT SAME STUFF, except this guy compromises every single time and that ALSO got him killed.
MXTX: neither of them were killed because it was "right" to, or because they were "evil", but because those with power in society were done with them. Their past actions were used to excuse their executions, and it's kinda fucked up actually, wouldn't you say?

Why Ao3 is the way works and runs is so important to fandom
We got ourselves a new fanfiction purge in fanfiction website going on. Wattpad (which unlike Ao3) makes it's money via selling fanfiction via Ads and thus have to work (and to an extent were already working under before this) under Capitalism ideals of what is "profitable" and "unproblematic" introduced an AI flagging system and has flagged, shadow banned, and deleted some works over there the last few days. In other words increased moderation tools has caused a purge on fanfictions over on Wattpad due to being labeled "problematic". Masterpost on the summary of things from the r/Wattpad subreddit
If there's anything people take away from this is 1.) This is why and Ao3 was made. To preserve fanfictions no matter if they are labeled "problematic". 2.) Ao3 Donation Drives aren't the evil certain people make them out to be and help sites run free from a worry of money and censorship letting writers and readers focus on the art of writing. 3.) AI tools as they are now are too unrefined to use en masse, and come off more as lazy and cutting corners for corporations, business owners, and individuals who want to save money.

loook i get why the idea of riding the "anti/pro" fandom disk horse makes people gag a little in their mouth and try to opt out entirely, but here's why i went from feeling exactly the same way to taking a firm profiction stance. I've been meaning to make this post for a while.
~10 years ago, I posted a fic for the first time and it got its own harassment campaign. The fic wasn't even sexual, and wasn't going to be (it remains incomplete). It was accurately rated T on fanfiction.net. Anyone in the Fairy Tail fandom will understand this: I literally got harassed for writing a "Lucy leaves the guild" fic💀.
After many nice comments, someone left a pretty nasty one. Hurt, I messaged them back. They acted super attacked that I'd responded (lmao) and after we argued, threatened to "rip my shitty story apart in the comments section" if I responded again. I told them "go ahead lol."
They went ahead.
Now know that it was a relatively small harassment campaign, but at the time, it was devastating. Right around then, I wound up in the hospital. After I got out, I went to excitedly check my fic, and found several reviews saying things I wouldn't repeat to my worst enemy. I was suicide-baited more than once, told "thank fuck you finally abandoned this shitty story, dumb cunt," stuff like that.
There were several accounts involved, and I can't say for sure, but I suspect at least a couple different people were involved, though probably at least half of it was one person.
All the other comments were screeching about how I hadn't updated, mostly. "NO UPDAAATEE WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS TO MEEEE??!!!" was one that stood out after I'd been miserable in a hospital for an extended period of time.
Idk what people think is going on when FT fic authors write this trope, and frankly I don't give a fuck. Because while I was partly writing the story out of some young, cringe feminist rage, I also did genuinely have a real story I was compelled to tell. I was inspired by another, popular fic I loved which used the trope to talk about how trying to shoulder our burdens alone really just hurts both ourselves and everyone who cares about us.
My own story was ultimately going to have similar themes, with more focus on strength, what it means, and in what contexts earning and having it actually matters. In retrospect, no wonder I wound up in hot water, because at the time "Lucy vs. Strength vs. Misogyny" was the FT fandom's Designated Nonsensically Activist Debate™. But that's partly why i wanted to write about it; engaging with the fandom had gotten me thinking about it 🤷♂️
Not too long after that, FFNet oh-so-benevolently granted us the ability to delete comments from our own stories (they never took my reports seriously at all, afaik). I deleted all or most of the harassers' comments (may still be a one or two up, and i'm fairly sure there's a couple comments defending my fic from the harassment) without saving screenshots, which I really regret now. I was just so mortified and full of self-loathing about the whole thing that i wanted to forget it completely. Something that had brought me joy at a very lonely, vulnerable period of my life had turned so negative, and i couldn't even tell the people closest to me about it without being made fun of for writing anime fan fiction.
I didn't understand why this happened at the time, but--after a period of trying to forget/bid out of it all with a slight anti lean (a common approach I see people use, and one which I'm not proud of adopting)--I just had to figure out What the Fuck Even Happened There. And I'm telling you, after years of reflecting, wrestling with both sides, and educating myself, that this "status quo of harassment" culture which pervades fandom goes way deeper than you think and comes out of a way darker well than you probably realize. An astonishing amount of this is, quite literally, TERF shit and evangelical shit.
Trying to be in fandom and take a stance of, "Anti/Pro shit? Ew, I'm Not Touching that," is like swimming in a heavily polluted river and being like, "Poison? Cringe. Not me lol."
You might be lucky enough to be in a less-polluted part of the river (AKA a relatively non-toxic fandom, in which case good for you!)...but tbh this rhetoric and peer-signalling will still seep in.
I can't stress enough that pro-fiction, AKA "proship", is the normal, leftist-about-art-and-sex opinion. Pro-ship is against all the horrible things you're against; in fact, pro-ship isn't trivializing real trauma by equating it with fictional trauma, or trying to apply literal evangelical/radfem solutions--which are proven not to prevent or help. Profiction/proship is literally just saying, "Fiction is fiction, reality is reality, and the two don't have a 1:1 relationship. And historically, trying to censor just things we've decided are bad has done nothing but get LGBTQ+ and POCs censored. Therefore, depictions of illegal things shouldn't be censored." That's it. "Proshippers all ship problematic ships," is a brazen lie. Many of them share other fans' disgust for those ships, they just don't believe in censoring fic authors over it.
It is also taking a stand against harassment because--and I hope my own story has helped drive this home--as with all groups who adopt ingroup/outgroup thinking, antis are defined by their tactics, not actual stances on real, serious issues. What happened to me was absolutely a result of anti, "it's okay to 'bully out' anything I just don't like" mindset pervading fandom. In a way, this was the mindset's final form. They didn't even feel the need to cite a reason the trope was "bad" or "wrong"; it annoyed them, and they viewed their own feelings as a valid enough pathway for policing to go right ahead and do so.
In the interest of offering solutions instead of just bitching about problems, I might make a "how to know if you've bought into these types of views"-type post sometime. Also might come back to this and provide some sources/citation.
