I'm suddenly very worried about what happened to Jin Guangyao’s hand. The one Lan Wangji cut off. Did they remember to toss it in the coffin with the rest of him? Did they suppress it separately? Under the same mountain? Somwhere else? Is there a random very tiny coffin covered in runes out there? Did Nie Huaisang collect it and stuffed it in one of the walls of the sabers hall? Does it count as an adequate replacement for Nie Mingjue's legs? Probably too small? Did it escape in the commotion, and they had to send the juniors to deal with a Mo village type of situation once again? is a homonym of Guangyao 光耀 (which together means brilliance/honour/glory)

IS A HOMONYM OF guang yaozi 逛窑子 WHICH MEANS TO VISIT A BROTHEL????? NOTE THAT THE zi 子 IS THE SAME 子 AS IN SON?????

this is on purpose. right??? we all knew this man named his son a backhanded compliment (by using the suffix guang instead of the Jin generational zi, and by the fact that it’s a homonym for glory). BUT DID HE NAME HIS SON AN OVERT SLAP IN THE FACE ALSO

(homonyms don’t quite work like that in mandarin but I talked to my teacher about how she named her kids and she said people often do use “homonyms” (same sound different tone different character/meaning) to layer meaning onto names)

Thinking about the juxtaposition between how Cql!JGY acts and how he Acts™️. He does 'I'm small, I'm unthreatening, I'm helpless, I'm scared you'll hurt me 🥺' very well when he's being threatened by Nie Mingjue, by Jin Zixun, by anyone with more standing or power than him.

But when someone he cares about is being immediately physically threatened, suddenly self preservation is a foreign concept. He jumps in front of Huaisang at Lan Summer Camp, he takes a sword in the chest for Mingjue. When he hears that the Cloud Recesses are being burned down, he goes to find Lan Xichen while critically injured.

Sure you're harmless and weak and cowardly and so therefore not a threat. Just...the delicious, delicious juxtaposition of who he is and who he can allow himself to be.
