It's so weird that in angel s5e2 they do a little flashback to Spike's blaze of glory moment in the last episode of Buffy... but they leave out Buffy saying "I love you". It's such a blatant omission, the ONLY omission from that scene, that it feels totally deliberate and kind of dishonest. Considering a lot of the Spike and Angel moments in S5 revolve around their jealousy and rivalry towards each other, and a LOT of that is to do with Buffy like... Why would you leave it out? It's a pretty big moment for Spike's character in general.

As far as I recall they don't even mention it, they just mention the fact that Spike and Buffy have had a lot of sex compared to bangel's ONE disastrous time (that they remember) but it does kind of cheapen it for Spike. A big motivation for him not leaving LA could have been him not wanting to hold Buffy to her words, since he clearly doesn't believe that she loves him (even though she does, as per Whedon). He presumably thinks she only said that to make him feel better in his final moments, because she wouldn't have to actually follow through on her words. Which is sad. But it makes much more sense as a motivation than the weird 'it cheapens my moment of glory' excuse like since when does spike give a shit about that

TMA x DBD part two: how Charles Became.

As I said in part one, Charles could have easily been an avatar of the Lonely, but I thought I could find something else that fit, especially since in this case, Charles didn't quite feel alone as he died, even though Edwin wasn't there.

There are cobwebs in the attic, and that doesn't shock Charles, but there are a lot of them. Charles doesn't mind spiders, and he has bigger things to worry about, mainly, freezing to death, so he finds a blanket pinned down by a think book and folds himself into a corner, bringing the book with him, hoping to distract himself at least a bit.

There's a spider on the window frame above where he sits, and he honestly feels a bit relieved as it scurries down and sits on his knee on top of the blanket.

The book is nice, in a morbid sort of way.

It's a story about a soldier from the first world war. He thinks he's dying, bleeding out from his arm, when he sees an impossible door. Impossible because he's on a battlefield and because it is distinctly the door to his childhood home.

The soldier goes through the door, in the end, and Charles doesn't remember if it takes him back home to die or if the soldier was just seeing things, because when he looks up, the door to the stairs looks different,

He could swear it looked just the door to his bedroom back home.

Charles stumbles to his feet, the spider on his knee climbing up to hold onto his shirt instead. He presses a hand against the door, and it's warm, like the room beyond it has a nice fireplace going, and Charles barely hesitates before twisting the knob open.

If he was just seeing things, feeling warmth that wasn't there, maybe he was in worse shape than he thought, but he stepped through the door anyways, the spider jumping from him, spinning a web that slowly lowered it to the ground as the door shut firmly behind Charles.

Every now and then, I think about The Simpsons RPC and how there's an occasionally a spike of Simpsons muses that inevitably crumbles away and leaves me waiting for the next short lived Simpsons RPC Renaissance

It's a bit tragic that the Totty + Karamatsu duo fell out of favour in the anime (though they seem to have a lot of interactions in the manga???)

They're foils of each other in such particular ways, almost like sokudo but with special interests lol. Whether it comes to fashion, how they appear in public, punching the eldest, the cool/cute spectrum, down to how they approach life (no plans vs. making calculated moves to climb the social ladder), they'd be so fun.

I've also been thinking about how Totty is not immune to getting his hopes up (samples, my guy skit) and misreading social cues so they fit his expectations. He's so similar to Karamatsu in such a humbling way LMAO.

And then there's the Subversions! Much like with the Choro + Kara duo, we've SEEN Karamatsu play the straight man to Totty, though for likely different reasons (aka where Totty calls out Karamatsu for being outlandish and not conforming to societal rules, Karamatsu tries to ground Totty in situations where he can probably feel a disturbance in him — In true "empath well attuned to those he's close to" fashion)

i do love canon amy & rory but god, does some part of me wish they really had gone with the idea of the doctor picking up a child as a companion (and then later, that child’s best friend with a huge crush on her.) with the rest of the season really not changing at all, except now it’s amelia pond with an angel in her head killing her and lost alone in the woods. it’s little rory who dies and is forgotten and becomes a toy soldier. if this is going to be a fairy tale, then let it be one. children have never been safe in fairy tales.

for context the new season is being partly animated by wildbrain i think. flying bark is still working on the show but probably due to all the other projects they've been working on like the atla movie the animation is off.

its understandable that people are upset. lmk has some of the most consistently dynamic and lively animation ive ever seen, and going from that to ok animation kinda sucks. as a culmination of a lot of what the series has been building up to people were inevitably going to be disappointed

at the same time people shouldnt harass animators. like ever. no amount of trying to petition or anything will change the s5, people are just trying to do their job and theres no probably no major changing to the finished product by now. and theres still a lot of that lmk charm in there, and we haven't even seen the whole season yet to judge it. flying bark is still working on it, and even if the animation never reaches the peak of the old seasons it still has the same writers so at least the writing has the chance to live up old standards. idk though we'll just have to wait and see

Anyway I think Shou has a habit of showing genuine appreciation and love for Ritsu that leaves him confused every time about what it means <3 (I rambled more about this in the tag if you are curious hshhs)
