I’m very bitter that their “Berlin” doesn’t look like Berlin at all. You already know just by the café they’re in: that could be anywhere but sure as hell not in Berlin! Have you ever seen a café in this entire city that has... wallpaper? Matching furniture? Windows??!?!

Oh God that distorted voice of Ben on the phone so we don’t know it’s him is so unnecessary. They could have done the scene without adding the voice of the person on the phone.

The fact that the first time we see off-island Ben is in a vet clinic gives me the strong headcanon that he always wanted to become a veterinarian and now being off the island he’s finally able to #live his dream.

And he’s back at it with that Voice. Which is hot but... really... you still know it’s Michael Emerson.

episode 4 – Eggtown:

I cannot believe that’s a title of a LOST episode

“So here we are just like old times except I’m locked up in a different room and you are more lost than you ever were.” – fuuuuuck him up Ben!!!

episode 5 – The Constant:

Fjsjfjggs this episode is one of the best ever!!! (as Desmond episodes usually are!!!)

From all the sorta-stand-alone episodes this is by far the best.

I remember the first time around I didn’t like Michael that much until that episode came and I was like “woah, fuck yeah Michael, I miss this guy so much!” which is great because in every rewatch I did since I could appreciate him so much more

And yet here I am also supporting Sun for wanting to kill Ben. This show really fucks with my moral compass. But then again… Benjamin fucking Linus is my fav character so what moral compass are we even talking about?

Worry Watches Lost: Part Eleven and into second hiatus - Erm... Umm... Right...

Ok, so I have just finished season 4 of Lost and right now my brain is doing a very good impression of a hamster in a wheel getting nowhere, and I’m in that ‘there are literally no words’ state. However, I shall endeavour to find some words. It’s quite interesting because prior to watching the last episode I was going to make another post asking ‘Who the fuck is Jeremy Bentham?’ but I decided it would be easier to just watch the final episode and then ask all the questions. 

So, here goes:

Questions:

How the fuck did Locke get off the Island and why is he calling himself Jeremy fuckin’ Bentham?

Is Richard Alpert immortal and if so, why the hell isn’t he the all-powerful leader of the Others?

There are more, but I’m literally too brain-frazzled to think of them right now. 

Theories:

Locke had to move the Island for whatever reason and it kicked him off like it did Ben. Ben said that people who move the Island can’t come back to it, but since Locke is now dead, that might not be an issue. 

You know I said Locke had been replaced by a robot alien replica? Or that he was dead and the thing walking and talking and being Locke was not in fact Locke? Yeah, I’m keeping that in mind.

Charles Widmore was Ben’s predecessor as leader of the Others and had to move the Island, and it kicked him off like it did Ben. Now he wants to get it back by any means necessary, although fuck knows why.

Jin’s still alive. Mainly because I refuse to believe he’s dead. 

Observations:

How anyone bought the story that Aaron was 5 weeks old is beyond me. Babies grow fast when they’re little and he’s clearly older than five weeks and is coming up for the three months mark.

Desmond’s still on the favourite character list - Charlie (RIP), Claire (I will never give up on you my precious sweetheart), Hurley (you need a hug), Sayid (you really need a hug) and Desmond (you have Penny to give you hugs so you’re gonna be fine). 

I also really like Frank and I’m so glad my instincts were correct about him.

Behind Locke and Ben, Jack is now at the top of my least favourite character list. His possessiveness and jealousy continues to be a huge red flag behaviour but the icing on the cake for me was when he said that Sawyer chose to stay on the Island and acted like it was a betrayal, after Sawyer made that sacrifice to make sure Jack got to the boat safely. Oh boy, Jack, you fucking blew it there. You’ve been going down in my estimations for two seasons now and I really don’t think you can sink much lower, because if you go lower than Ben or Locke you’ve really done something irretrievable.

I don’t think Sawyer will ever be on my favourite character list but he is off the least favourite character list. He’s really grown on me these past couple of seasons.

I am marginally calmer than I was before regarding the Claire and Aaron situation, but that’s only because I’ve had time to cool down. Aside from the sideways which is a nice catch all deus ex, two things are giving me hope. Hurley said that Jack was not supposed to raise Aaron. True, that says nothing about Kate raising him alone, but I think that ultimately Jack and Kate will end up together, which gives me the tiniest sliver of hope that means Claire will get to raise Aaron. Secondly, the dream of Claire telling Kate not to take Aaron back to the Island. I’m getting a tiny spark of hope from that sequence.

It has been interesting watching the villain dynamics change, from the Others being the villains to Charles Widmore and co. being the villains. I can’t remember the essay I read on primary and secondary antagonists and protagonists, but it was something to do with three parties having conflict - a primary protagonist (the castaways), the primary antagonists (Widmore and co.) and the secondary antagonists (the Others), who are aligned with the primary protagonists against the primary antagonist but are also opposed to the primary protagonists for different reasons... Anyway that’s the situation we’ve got here with the Others and it’s really interesting to watch develop.

I cried like a baby when Desmond and Penny were reunited.

So now I’m into hiatus for a while until I have time to sit down and watch season 5 and 6. I’ve learned my lesson and I will be watching them one at a time on separate weekends, unless I’m ridiculous enough to try and do them both together because yolo. Still just going with the flow and not trying to understand what’s going on, but still unable to stop myself coming up with ridiculous theories and even more ridiculous fanfic ideas...

episode 15 – Across The Sea:

You know… it gets really hard to sympathise with Jacob after this episode. Not that I ever sympathised with him but… he just seems like the annoying dudebro in your modern literature seminar that just won’t shut the fuck up
