if you enjoyed likes or reblogs would be amazing! feedback is appreciated also requests are open!!
You never thought youâd feel safe in someoneâs arms again.
After what your last relationship put you throughâthe bruises, the fear, the exhaustion of doing everything aloneâyou didnât think love could be gentle. That it could be kind. That it could be anything other than survival.
Then Se-mi came along.
She was never loud in the way she loved you. She didnât demand things from you, didnât make you feel like you owed her something just for existing. Her love showed itself in soft gestures, in quiet moments, in ways that made you realize just how much you had gone without.
Like tonight.
You sat on the edge of the bed, fresh from the shower, the scent of your shampoo still lingering in the air. A towel draped over your shoulders as you absentmindedly ran your fingers through your damp hair, feeling the knots you didnât have the energy to deal with.
Before you could sigh in frustration, Se-mi was there.
âLet me,â she murmured, taking the brush from your nightstand. She climbed onto the bed behind you, her legs bracketing yours as she gently gathered your hair. The first stroke was careful, deliberate. No tugging, no impatienceâjust the slow, rhythmic motion of the bristles smoothing through your hair.
You closed your eyes, leaning into the sensation. No one had ever done this for you before.
âYou okay?â she asked, her voice quiet.
You nodded. âYeah⌠just not used to this.â
Se-mi hummed in understanding, continuing her slow work. âYou should be,â she said simply. âYou deserve this.â
Your chest ached at her words, at how easily she said them. Like it wasnât even a question.
After finishing, she set the brush aside and kissed the back of your shoulder. âCome on, letâs get you dressed.â
You let her help you into your clothesâsomething that once would have made you feel weak but now only made you feel cherished. She smoothed your shirt down over your skin, adjusting the hem before pressing a kiss to your forehead.
When you were with your ex, you had to be strong because no one else would be. But with Se-mi, you could just⌠be.
She held your hand when you went out together, never pulling, never leadingâjust grounding you. She paid for things without hesitation, not to control you, but because she wanted to. And when you were at a party and your chest started to tighten from the noise, she didnât ask questions.
âDo you wanna leave?â she always whispered, her fingers warm against yours.
And no matter what, no matter where you were, if you nodded, she would take your hand and walk you out the door like it was the easiest decision in the world.
Because with Se-mi, it always was.
Love wasnât supposed to be something you survived. It was supposed to be something that held you, that made you feel safe.
And for the first time in your life, you truly believed that.
Because Se-mi loved you in all the ways you had been denied.
And she always would.

some angsty jatp headcannons
because if i have to think about them, you have to cry with me; itâs simply equality â¨đđâ¨
the phantoms canât sleep. itâs a side effect of death they hadnât anticipated - sleeping is for your physical body to rest and reload. no body = no sleep
at first it didnât bother the boys, they did all the things 17 year olds wanna do when they have literally no limits, especially at night - they went to an 18+ rock concert, stayed up and watched the sun rise together, went to a bar, explored a strip club for like 5 minutes (they immediately realised that it was a lot mustier and more depressing than theyâd hoped)
soon they just kind of resorted to the comfort of their, now julieâs, garage at night time
luke took his couch, reggie took the untouched vintage bathtub in the back, and alex took the attic
thatâs when they realised how much they missed sleep
alex stared at the stars through the sunroof that was still attached to the garage roof - the small square in the ceiling that had made the attic feel as big as the sky above it and lulled him to sleep when he was alive, now only amplified his anxieties.Â
the stars seemed to taunt him about everything that was taken from him - if felt so much stronger than it did when he was with julie, alex and reggie.Â
it was all so invasive; how he didn't get to go to college, or share a beer with his dad on his 21st birthday, or see his little sister graduate, or perform as headliners at a sold-out arena, or see the love in his parentâs eyes ease back when they looked at him, fully accepting him for who he was. he didnât get to live a life that was fulfilling and complete - a life where he got to achieve his dreams and feel completely whole, completely happy.Â
all of it seemed to add weight to his head and knock the air out of his lungs. he had to cling to his jeans to try and get his fingers to stop trembling. the fact that the crippling sadness he felt was the only thing that made him feel alive and real again made him want to smash a hole into his drums.Â
itâs what he wouldâve done if he was alive - but death had stolen when he could play from him too. so he just sucks it up and continues looking at the cloudless sky, tears falling from his eyes and hand gripping his still heart
luke was never one to do much thinking, and if heâs being honest, he still tries not to do it, his motto is always to take it easy and be rad enough to just chill and rock outÂ
but ever since he saw his parents again, he couldnât stop playing the different ways he couldâve gone back home to them the night after the orpheum
he just wants to so desperately turn back time and replace the police sirens that his mom heard for the familiar reeling of his bike wheels and just see the relief set into his mom and dadâs face
he doesnât talk about it to anyone, but the image of his mom ageing 30 years at the message of her dead son is something he can envision so well that it just haunts him now
every time thereâs a quiet moment when he hangs out with the rest of the band, every time he closes his eyes, every time he strums the last note on his guitar - he canât help but feel the weight he burdened his parents with
he tries to rationalise his death, tries to convince himself that death is unpredictable, unexacting and impatient, that thereâs no way he couldâve known
but all he ends up feeling is the crashing guilt heâs been carrying with him for the last 25 years
reggie never really talked about his family that much other than joking about his parentâs failed marriage
but when itâs 3am and all he can hear is the grasshoppers and the swaying wind outside, he canât help but think about his brothers and sisters
he hopes that his elder brothers stepped up and slept with his younger twin sisters when his parents were in a screaming match in the next room. he desperately hopes that in the past he couldnât live through with them, his brothers played sinatra on their grandfatherâs old beat-up vinyl that always lulled his sisters to sleep, muting the arguments he stayed up to when he was alive
he hoped that his brothers went to college and found love like theyâd always joked about. he so desperately dreamed that they had kids and didnât get too sad when they remembered how badly reggie had wanted little nephews and nieces, he prayed, to whatever deity or god that was watching over his family, that they were living happy and full-filling lives
and the last thing he hoped for was hidden away in the deepest and darkest part of his mind. a part of him couldnât help but wish that the death of their child knocked some sense into his parents - to keep fighting, to keep hoping in themselves and their relationship - to see the best in themselves and their marriage that reggie had always seen
but really he knew better - his fantasies of a healed family was fractured in the truth that his death wasnât as important or nearly enough to fix his broken family
so the three of them began to dread nightfall, tried to keep themselves as busy as they could to avoid the inevitable
but soon, they realised that ghosts had ghosts to deal with too

Iâm on the team - pt 2
Summery: you start training with the guys and Suga gets concerned! ďżź
Pt 1 Pt 3 Pt 4
TW: over binding
âDrop your hips a bit more (y/n) Noya said, helping me with receives, heâs a really good teacher! They all are! Itâs been about 2 weeks that Iv been on the team and Iâm learning really fast! Asahi and Tanaka have already declared me a super threat in spiking! And Tsuki has been helping me with learning blocks (although he isnât a great teacher)! Kageyama has been working with me on my jump serve and has taught me the basics of setting but with him and suga around thereâs really no reason for me to learn it! Iâm still a beginner but everyone says Iâm learning quick!
Iv gotten pretty close with the guys over the past two weeks! I hang out a lot with Tsuki and Yams since there in my classes and I find there dynamic super fun! And Suga has already become like a big brother to me! Theyâve all been really awesome about making sure Iâm comfortable with everything, I just started using there locker room today cause I finally felt comfortable enough with them!
Practicing has become like my life! Even when Iâm not with the team Iâm doing whatever I can on my own! I want to make them proud, I know me being on the team must have taken a lot of convincing and I know itâs going to be hard on them so I want them to know they didnât make a mistake taking a risk on me!
âOk itâs getting late! Letâs all clean up and get out of here!â Daichi yelled, I hadnât even realized how dark it was! I was so focused on working with Noya on my receives.
âGood job today (Y/N)! In no time your gunna be game ready!â Noya said jumping around
âOh I donât know, Iv just started!â
âOh come on kid! Your picking up so fast! Although I would give some credit to your senpais for teaching you!â Tanaka said wrapping an arm around me and smiling like an idiot.
âYeah yeah! My wonderful Senpais, who thought me everything.â
âExactly what you say when you make it big!â Tanaka laughed
âOh but donât forget to put emphasis on us!â Noya added
âYeah! Yeah! Add on especially Tanaka and Noya!â
âThe best senpais ever!â
âThanks it thatâs the perfect speech!â Tanaka announced âyou should write that down, wouldnât wanna forget it!â
I just laugh at them moving to help clean everything up.
After we clean up and change everyoneâs walking to there houses panning yo stop for mean buns that the third years said theyâd buy for everyone. The more excitable ones walking ahead with most of the (more responsible) second years walking with them. Me Tsuki Yams and the third years walking behind.
âHey (Y/N) I was wondering what the things you wear on your chest is?â Suga asks kinda suddenly.
â oh um itâs called a binder, it helps flatten my chest!â
âOh I didnât know they had something for that! Thatâs super cool!â Sugaâs always been interested in my gender identity, asking questions and such! Heâs always super respectful about it too, just wanting to understand my situation.
âIâm sorry about all the questions Iv been meaning to do some research on my own but classes have been killing me.â Suga laughs!
âOh no itâs all good donât worry about it.â
âAre we supposed to be doing research!â Asahi asked nervously.
âNo no! You really donât have to! Really!â
âJust make sure you tell us if we do anything wrong (Y/N)â Daichi asks like the good leader he is
â I will! I promise!â I say reassuring both of them that they donât have to be nervous.
Tsuki moved his arm around my shoulders
âHeâs to scared to correct anyone, lucky heâs got me to call them out.â Tsuki says passively walking faster making me and yams catch up to him
âYou and your stupid long legs!â I say basically jogging to keep up with him, and he slows down so I can keep up.
And we keep waking and talking, mostly about class and planing day to study together fun an upcoming test like weâve been doing since I joined the team and became friends with them.
The next day before I get to the gym Sugas standing outside stopping me.
âWhatâs up Suga?â
âCan I talk to you about something real quick.â
âSure what is it, is something wrong?â
âNo, no! Well I mean, I did some research last night. And I remembered you told me that you wear a binder, so I looked it up! But I um well I found out that your only supposed to wear it for 8 hours and your not supposed to work out in it, and weâll if you put it on before school and then donât take it off during practice, your breaking both of those.â
âI-I donât know Suga, I donât like not wearing it.â
âI know you donât like not wearing it but you can overwear it either, itâs not safe!â
âI agreeâ a voice says from behind me, I turn to see Tsuki looking at me disapprovingly.
âI donât know what to tell you guys, Iâm not going to stop wearing it!â
âWhy donât we get you some binding tape for sports and see if you like it. You donât even have to send it to your house if you donât want your parents seeing it, we can send it to mine if you need.â Tsuki says seemingly having thought this out already.
âI donât knowâ
âI know itâs hard, but itâs unhealthy to overwear.â
âOkâ I say looking down.
âTake it off before practice, you can wear one of my shirts, itâll be bigger on you.â Tsuki says walking into the gym.
âI know itâs hard (Y/N), well I donât know, I could never understand.â
âThank you Suga.â
âOh itâs really no problem.â Suga says putting his hand on his neck laughing nervously.
We both head inside seeing that Tsuki put one of his extra shirts in my locker to change into.
We get to practice a bit late but Daichi doesnât say anything, giving Suga a look, I assume they talked about this before.
While weâre practicing (Noya still working with me on receives) takeda suddenly rushed into the room seeming super excited about something. Everyone stoped.
âWeâve been invited to a training camp!â
An: thank you guys for reading! Iâm super excited for the next part!!! Ready for training camp!!! Let me know if you wanna be tagged in future parts!!! And please send in any requests!!!

advice for getting blood drawn, especially if you have trouble
I'm a phlebotomist, and it's very common for my patients to have various histories with venipuncture. Some have a phobia of needles, or of blood. Some get dizzy and/or black out. Some might have veins that are difficult to access. Some people might just want to know more. So I wanted to make a post to help.
Tip #1 - You can always ask for someone else.
If you aren't comfortable with the person drawing your blood, for ANY reason, you have the right to request someone else do it. If they missed on the first try and you don't want them to try again? If they seem rude or disrespectful to you? If you just get a weird vibe from them? Ask for someone else.
There's a couple situations where, in my opinion, you should ALWAYS ask for someone else:
You have dark skin, and the phlebotomist comments that it's hard to locate your veins. That's not how it works, finding the best venipuncture site is done by feel, so if anyone says this they're either doing their job wrong, or trying to use your skin tone as an excuse for their having difficulty. Trouble finding a vein can happen with any patient.
You're having blood drawn (via a new poke, NOT an IV being put in or used) and a nurse is the one doing it. Nurses outrank us, yes, but they are not anywhere near as practiced in drawing blood, and quite frankly most of them aren't very good at it. (Idk if this is different outside the US)
The person drawing your blood doesn't listen or brushes you off when you explain that you have a history of wooziness/fainting.
To be clear, someone else won't necessarily be available 100% of the time, especially because of the current pandemic. But most of the time it should be doable.
Tip #2- Communicate and keep track of what works
A lot of the time, patients feel guilty about "making a fuss" or "giving us trouble." Even sometimes patients who don't require anything special, but look away from the needle, think they're being difficult- probably 1/3 of patients can't watch it! But even people who DO need something extra, we are fully equipped to provide that additional care, it's part of our job and no trouble whatsoever.
Things you should communicate:
"I've fainted or almost fainted from getting blood drawn before" / "I'm feeling dizzy" Even if you're an outpatient, places will usually have an extra supportive chair/recliner to put you in so you can stay safe, crackers and juice to help get your blood sugar back up, and/or a quiet place you can rest for a little afterwards.
"Can you talk to me and distract me?" / "Can I ask you some questions to soothe my nerves?" Yeah, sure, I don't mind at all. I can't promise that I can answer all the questions, some might go to your doctor or nurse, but whatever makes you feel better.
"That SERIOUSLY hurts!" Any pain should be mostly gone after the needle stops moving. If it still hurts while the blood is flowing, especially if it's an electric kind of pain that radiates down your arm or hand, tell the phlebotomist to remove the needle immediately, because it's likely touching a nerve. I don't mean to scare you, this is rare, and when it does happen there's usually no ill effects other than extra bruising, but obviously we don't want the needle there.
"I'm on blood thinners / am a hemophiliac" Ideally the phlebotomist should ask you, but they might not, especially if you're young. NSAIDs, especially aspirin, do count as blood thinners at any dosage, so if you took some for a headache you should mention it. Don't worry about it, we draw from tons of old people who are on thinners, we're used to it, it's just good to know.
"I have difficult veins, but last time they got it from right here." Everyone's body changes from day to day, so your veins might not be the same as before. But it's good to remember the place that has been successful, it can save a lot of time and sticks. (Scar tissue especially can make it hard to feel which veins are still accessible, which means IV drug users can be hard to draw from, but when they know exactly which veins are good, it's no problem!)
"Before it took more than two people to find the vein" / "They had to put a hot pack on me to bring the vein up" / "My veins roll a lot" Related to the previous bullet, it's common for people to say they have difficult veins, but it's only useful if you're more specific. A lot of people think they have harder veins than they do.
That said, don't insist that we use a butterfly or pediatric needle. You don't have the training to determine what kind of needle we need to use. Butterfly needles are expensive, and in many places they're in short supply, and we have to ration them out. Additionally, using a needle that's too thin for the strength of the blood flow can damage the blood, which can ruin the sample. Most adults do absolutely fine with a normal straight needle, whether it hurts depends on the skill of the phlebotomist, and on luck. If you insist on a butterfly when you don't need one, you might end up with the kind of butterfly that's actually a bigger needle than the straight needle.
Tip #3 - Be hydrated
There's not much else to say here. Unless you're about to have surgery and you're specifically not supposed to drink anything, it makes things much faster and quicker if you're well-hydrated. Eating is also good, but a lot of blood tests are fasting ones, so make sure you're okay to eat beforehand or the tests might be pointless.
Well, I think that's all! If anyone wants to add on to this, feel free, especially anyone who can compare and contrast with advice for patients having IVs put in!

âPapa!â Margaux screamed, racing across the airport to Owen, the blond boy scooping up the nearly four year old and spinning her around when she reached him.Â
âMaggie! Iâve missed you so much.â Owen exclaimed, pulling his mask down to pepper her cheeks with kisses, causing Margaux to giggle loudly. âWhereâs your Daddy?âÂ
âRight behind you.â Owen spun around to find Charlie standing there, clearly smiling at him despite the bandana that covered his mouth, and Owenâs heart skipped a beat at how good Charlie looked in the early morning sun streaming through the airport windows.Â
Meanwhile Charlie was thinking the exact same thing, admiring how attractive Owen was, especially when he was in his dad mode. He really understood why girls had such a weakness for cute boys with cute kids when he saw Owen with Margaux.Â
Charlie stepped forward, pulling Owen into a tight hug and Margaux whined in complaint at being squished between her dad and her self declared papa. They pulled away from each other, both boys fighting to hide their slightly flushed cheeks.Â
âIâm hungry.â Margaux whined, and Charlie was snapped out of his heart eyes daze, his whole focus back on his daughter.Â
âLetâs get some food into you before our plane leaves then eh.â He replied, and Margaux nodded happily.Â
Feeling bold Owen grabbed onto Charlieâs hand, lacing their fingers together. It wasnât unusual for them to do this but it was the first time doing it when they were well known enough that someone might recognise them. But neither of them really cared. They were just happy to be back together again.Â
-Â
The minute they arrived in Hawaii they were met with fans. As much as he loved meeting the fans Charlie couldnât help but sigh slightly as he tried to protect Margaux as much as he could.
It wasnât that the fans didnât know about Margaux, because it was a well known fact that he was a single dad, it was more that he wanted to keep her away from the spotlight. She hadnât asked for her dad to become a well known actor, and she didnât deserve to have her life changed because of it. He was determined to give her the most normal life possible.Â
Eventually they made it to the villa house that they were staying in while in Hawaii, and after throwing their bags into their rooms it was time to have a bit of fun.Â
âSwim time swim time!â Margaux sung, running laps around the living room. Kenny chuckled at the small girl, looking up at Charlie who was following closely behind her.Â
âIt seems like only yesterday she was a tiny two year old who cried every time you left her side.â He said, and Charlie smiled fondly, sitting down on the chair next to Kenny.Â
âSheâs growing up too fast.â He agreed. âI canât believe in less than 24 hours time Iâll be a dad to a four year old.âÂ
Margaux tripped on the tiles, landing with a clatter, her bottom lip jutting out. Charlie jumped up, but before he could even think about moving across the room Owen was by Margauxâs side, helping her up and pulling her into a tight hug. He whispered something in her ear and Margaux giggled loudly, her fall already forgotten.
Charlie smiled softly at the scene, his heart filled with love for both the blond boy and his little princess.Â
âDaddy.â Margaux called, snapping Charlie out of his daze.Â
âYeah baby?â He answered, finally making his way across the room.Â
âCan we swim now?â She asked, grabbing onto his leg. Charlie subconsciously ran his hand through her soft curls. Â
âOf course we can.â He replied. Margaux glanced up at Owen.Â
âPapa too?â She questioned.Â
âPapa too.â Charlie agreed. Margaux peered past him, her gaze landing on Kenny.
âComing Uncle Kenny?â She asked, and Kenny laughed, standing up.Â
âComing Little Gillespie.â He replied.Â
Margaux smiled contently, taking both Charlie and Owenâs hands to pull them outside towards the pool.Â
She really did have every single one of them wrapped around her little finger.Â
-Â
Dinner that night was special, as it was supposed to be Carolynnâs last day on the island. They decided on a joint party for her last night, as well as celebrating Margauxâs birthday a day early.Â
They had headed to a tiny restaurant near their villa, and Charlie had allowed Margaux to pick whatever she wanted from the menu, not that it mattered because she chose chicken nuggets and chips anyways.
The meal was nice, and before they knew it they were arriving back at the villa. Jeremy, Carolynn and Kenny all excused themselves for bed, and Tori settled into the couch, flicking the TV on.Â
âBath and bed time baby.â Charlie told Margaux, and she pouted but obeyed, following him into the hallway.Â
âHey Char, can I ask you something?â Owen asked, trailing behind the father daughter duo, and Charlie stopped, letting Margaux run ahead to their room.Â
âAnything.â He smiled.Â
âDo you mind if I share your room? I know the other bed was meant to be for Margaux but-â Owen started, playing with his fingers slightly.Â
âShe can share with me.â Charlie cut him off. âBedâs all yours.â Owen looked up, his eyes widening.Â
âReally?â He checked.Â
âOf course.â Charlie smiled. Owen grinned, throwing his arms around Charlieâs neck.Â
âThanks Char. I just didnât really want to sleep alone.â He admitted, and Charlie squeezed him tight.Â
âAny time.â He told Owen, and the blond boy pulled away with a smile, before heading off to the room he was originally going to stay in to collect his bags.Â
Charlie entered the room that he and Margaux, and now Owen, were sharing, finding his daughter already snuggled into one of the beds, still wearing her dinner clothes. Charlie sighed, moving to pull her out of the bed. Owen entered the room, bags in tow, and Margaux looked up at him excitedly.Â
âPapa! Are you sleeping here?â She questioned. Owen placed his bags in the corner before answering.Â
âI am Miss Maggie.â He said, and Margaux cheered.Â
âYou donât mind sleeping with Daddy?â Charlie checked, and Margaux shook her head, jumping up to throw her arms around Charlieâs neck.Â
âNope! More cuddles!â She stated. Charlie laughed, picking her up.Â
âExactly right. Now, itâs bath time.â He said, grabbing Margauxâs pyjamas as she clung to him.Â
âBye Papa!â Margaux called as Charlie moved to leave the room. Owen waved.Â
âBye Maggie!â He replied, matching her enthusiasm. Charlie couldnât help but smile.Â
Margaux was so lucky to have someone like Owen in her life. They both were.Â
-Â
âDaddy! Wake up!â Margaux screamed, jumping on top of Charlie. He groaned, squinting as he looked up at his daughter.Â
âWhat time is it?â He mumbled. Owen sat up in his own bed, grabbing his phone to check the time.Â
â4:47am.â He informed Charlie, his voice thick with sleep. Charlie tried to ignore how sexy Owenâs morning voice was, instead focusing on his daughter.Â
âMags itâs too early to be awake.â He told her. Margaux pouted, flopping down on top of him.Â
âDaddy, itâs my birthday!â She exclaimed. Charlie smiled, kissing her cheek.Â
âI know baby, happy birthday. Now can we sleep for a little bit?â He tried. Margaux thought for a moment.Â
âOnly if Papa comes here too.â She decided.Â
Charlieâs eyes widened slightly, eyes fixed on Owen as the younger boy sleepily slid out of his bed with no hesitation, and into Charlieâs, snuggling into Charlieâs side the minute he laid down. Margaux squirmed her way under the covers, squishing herself in between the two of them.Â
Charlie shut his eyes in an attempt to get back to sleep, but it was no use. He opened his eyes again, staring up at the ceiling, as Margaux slept soundly next to him.
His mind was racing, noticing every single little place where Owenâs warm skin was in contact with his. It felt like he was on fire.
âStop thinking.â Owen mumbled, and Charlie turned his head to see Owen staring at him, his eyes half shut with sleep.
âHow did you know?â He questioned. Owen gave him a small smile.Â
âI always know. Whatever it is, just ignore it for now. Get some sleep, itâs gonna be a big day.â Owen whispered. Charlie paused for a moment, just staring at Owen in the dim light from Margauxâs nightlight. Even half asleep in the almost complete darkness of the room Owen still looked gorgeous. Charlie swallowed.Â
âYouâre right. Thanks O.â He replied.Â
âLove you.â Owen yawned in response, his eyes shutting again. Charlie smiled softly, moving his hand to brush a bit of Owenâs hair off his face.
âI love you too Owen.â He replied, despite the fact that the younger boy was already asleep. He pressed a soft kiss to Owenâs head, and lowered his voice to no more than a whisper.
âMore than I probably should.â
-Â
After what felt like no time at all Charlie was being shaken awake again.Â
âDaddy is it time to get up now?â Margaux questioned, sitting on his chest. Charlie yawned.Â
He reached over and checked his phone. It was just after 6:30am.Â
âOkay we can get up. But weâre gonna leave Papa to sleep a little bit more, okay?â Charlie compromised. Margaux thought for a moment before agreeing. Charlie grinned, sliding the both of them out of the bed careful not to wake Owen. Once they were out of the bed Charlie lifted Margaux up, placing her on his hip. He pressed a soft kiss to her temple. Â
âNow. Letâs go make some birthday pancakes.âÂ
-Â
âHappy birthday Little Gillespie.â Jeremy sung, entering the kitchen with Carolynn close behind him.
Margaux grinned, her mouth full of pancake.Â
âThank you!â She exclaimed, her words muffled by her food. Carolynn stepped past Jeremy, moving to place a gentle kiss on Margauxâs head and whisper to her. Margaux grinned before looking up at her father.
âHey Daddy?â She spoke. Charlie made a noise in response.
âYeah?â He said, flipping pancakes onto a plate for both Jeremy and Carolynn.
âDo you think the birthday fairy could found me here?â Margaux questioned, her eyes full of hope. Charlie couldnât help but smile, not even bothering to correct her words, as he placed the pan down.
âShould we go find out?â He asked. Margauxâs eyes widened in excitement.
âYeah! But first we have to get Papa.â She decided. Charlie nodded.
âYou wanna go wake him up? Tell him we made him some pancakes?â He asked, and Margaux grinned, already sliding out of her chair.
âOkay Daddy!â She replied, before rushing out of the room. The room fell silent for a few moments before Carolynn cleared her throat.
âSo Charlie...â She raised an eyebrow. âHow long have you been in love with Owen?âÂ
Charlie choked on his coffee.Â
âIâm sorry, what?â He spluttered. Carolynn grinned.Â
âYou heard me.â She said. Charlie hesitated.Â
âIâm not-â He stopped. âI-âÂ
He groaned. There was no use denying it if clearly he was obvious enough that his friends had figured him out.
âSince filming.â He admitted. Carolynn cheered.Â
âYou owe me $20.â She told her husband, who glared at Charlie.Â
âYou just had to admit it, huh?â Jeremy shook his head, and Charlie shrugged, a small smile on his face.
âAdmit what?â Owenâs voice came from behind them, deep from sleep, and Charlie took a sip of his coffee to try to distract himself. Owen always looked good but in the early morning light, his hair still a mess from sleeping, he looked ethereal. Charlie bit his lip to stop himself from staring.
âNothing important.â Carolynn replied, and Charlie shot her a thankful look.Â
âCan we see if the birthday fairy visited now?â Margaux sighed, clearly impatient. They all laughed.Â
âOf course baby.â Charlie told her, standing up. He grabbed the plate of pancakes he had made for Owen, handing them to the younger boy as he passed him.Â
Margaux lead the way to the living area where Kenny and Tori were already sat waiting, squealing with excitement when she saw the small pile of presents on the table.
âThey came!â She exclaimed, and Charlie couldnât help but smile, ruffling her hair affectionately.
Margaux settled down on the couch as everyone spread out around the room, and one by one she opened the presents, eyes widening with excitement at every single one.Â
Charlie had gotten her a few dolls that he knew she had been wanting, plus some new clothes, books and other toys.Â
Jeremy and Carolynn had gotten her a small paint set with a Frozen paint by numbers.Â
Kenny had gotten her a tiny version of the Sunset Curve shirt that the cast had all received.Â
Tori had gotten her a little lilac tutu.Â
Madi, Jadah and Savannah had sent their presents, some handmade earrings, little stud versions of the ghost drawings that Carolynn had created from Madi, a small pair of overalls from Savannah, and a colouring book from Jadah.
But her absolute favourite gift had come from Owen, a tan coloured bear from Build-A-Bear that he had dressed like Luke, and the clothes to change the bear into Reggie, Alex and Julie if she wanted to.Â
After hugs all round the group decided to go their own ways, with Kenny heading off to spend the day relaxing, and Tori, Jeremy and Carolynn going to the beach to sunbathe since Carolynnâs flight had been delayed.Â
âWhere do you want to go today birthday girl?â Charlie asked, as he and Owen collected the pile of gifts to move them back to their room.
Margaux frowned in thought, the bear still grasped in her arms.
âHiking.â She decided, and Charlie laughed. She was definitely his daughter.
âYou sure? We can do whatever you want to do.â He checked. Margaux nodded, her attention focused on her new clothes that Charlie had placed on the bed to fold later.Â
âIâm sure.â She said, reaching for the Sunset Curve shirt and overalls. âCan I wear this?â
âOf course you can.â Charlie agreed.Â
âIâm gonna have a quick shower.â Owen said, grabbing some clothes out of his bag. Charlie nodded, focused on helping Margaux change out of her pyjamas into her new clothes.
âDo you think we can have some time tonight just you and me?â Charlie asked once Margaux was dressed, moving to grab her hairbrush and some hair ties.
âYes please Daddy.â Margaux agreed, sitting on the edge of the bed as Charlie sat behind her.
âWe could go get dinner just the two of us, and then come back here for birthday cake.â He suggested. Margaux frowned, clearly thinking.Â
âIs it chocolate cake?â She asked after a moment, and Charlie paused from brushing her hair to kiss the top of her head.Â
âYouâll have to wait and see.â He teased. Charlie finished tying her hair up into two little space buns, not quite proper buns but as close as he could get with her shortish hair.
âI hope itâs chocolate cake. I love chocolate cake.â She giggled, standing up on the bed and turning around to hug her father. Charlie wrapped his arms around her, a gesture that was so safe and familiar.Â
âMe too baby, me too.â He agreed. Margaux snuggled her head into his shoulder.Â
âIs Papa coming hiking?â She questioned. Charlie grinned to himself.Â
âDo you want him to come?â He asked. Margaux didnât even hesitate.Â
âYes.â
âThen Iâm sure heâd love to come.â Charlie assured her. She pulled away. looking him in the eyes. Charlie had always loved that she had gotten his eyes.Â
âDo I ask him?â She said, eyes wide. Charlie struggled to contain a laugh at how serious she looked.Â
âWhen he comes back, yeah.â He nodded.Â
âWhen who comes back?â Owen asked, re-entering the room. Margaux jumped up, throwing herself at the 20 year old. He lifted her up with no hesitation.Â
âAre you gonna come hiking?â Margaux asked, her bottom lip jutting out in a pleading way.Â
âOf course I am. Wouldnât want to miss spending time with my two favourite people.â Owen grinned, kissing her nose causing her to giggle. Charlieâs heart skipped a beat at the declaration that he was one of Owenâs favourite people.Â
âYay! Can we go now?â Margaux turned in Owenâs arms to face her father. He nodded, standing up from the bed.Â
âShoes, and then we can go.â He said, and Margaux squirmed her way out of Owenâs arms to go find her running shoes.Â
Charlie exchanged a look with Owen, the both of them thinking the same thing.Â
It was going to be a long day.Â
-Â
Hiking with a just turned four year old was exhausting, even despite them choosing the easiest possible trail so that she wouldnât have any issues.
It was fine at first, Margaux excitedly looking at the plants and trying to spot any animals in the trees, but after about twenty minutes she got bored and tired, and Charlie and Owen spent the rest of the hike passing her back and forth between the two of them.
Finally they made it back to the villa, and after a quick stop for lunch Margaux was recharged and ready for the rest of the day.
âCan we swim?â She asked. Charlie nodded.
âWeâll go and get changed, and then we can go in the pool for a while until we have to get ready for dinner, okay?â He suggested.Â
âOkay Daddy.â Margaux smiled sweetly.Â
-
After quickly changing into their swimmers, Charlie, Margaux and Owen ended up in the pool, Jeremy and Carolynn lounging nearby.Â
They swam for a few hours until Margaux got thirsty, and with a promise of apple juice she and Charlie climbed out of the pool leaving Owen to go sit with the Shadaâs.Â
Charlie walked inside the villa, finding Kenny sat at the kitchen bench reading while Tori lounged on one of the couches, staring at her phone.Â
âWhy donât we do cake now, so that you donât have to worry about rushing home?â Kenny spoke up, as Charlie manoeuvred through the kitchen to get the apple juice out, Margaux clinging to his chest like a baby koala.Â
âThatâs a good idea. Do you want to do your birthday cake now Mags?â Charlie asked his daughter, pouring her some apple juice. She sipped on the juice, looking up at him with wide eyes.Â
âYeah!â She exclaimed. Charlie smiled.Â
âOkay, can you go get Papa, Aunty Care and Uncle Jer for me?â He asked, placing her down. She nodded eagerly, handing her cup of juice to him before rushing outside to where Owen, Jeremy and Carolynn were still sat.
Charlie grabbed the cake out of the fridge and placed it on the bench, before putting the four candles in, and grabbing a lighter.
âHave you seen my camera Kenny?â He asked, and Kenny just pointed to the end of the bench where the camera was sitting. Charlie smiled gratefully, grabbing the camera.
âWant me to take photos?â Tori offered, and Charlie nodded, handing her the camera.Â
Margaux re-entered the room, Owen and the Shadaâs following close behind her, and when she reached her father he lifted her up. Kenny took the lighter, lighting the candles on the cake and together they sung Happy Birthday to Margaux, Tori snapping photos as the four year old blew out her candles.Â
Charlie held Margaux close to him as Kenny divided the cake up, thankful that he had such an amazing family to spend his little girlâs birthday with.Â
-
When Charlie and Margaux made it back to the villa after their dinner that night, the newly four year old was ready to fall asleep. Charlie carried her to bed, silently thanking his past self for deciding to give her a bath and do her birthday cake before they went to dinner because now all he had to do was change her into her pyjamas.Â
He changed her quickly seeing that she was almost asleep, and tucked her into the bed.Â
âDid you have a good birthday baby?â Charlie asked softly, settling down next to his daughter.
Margaux just nodded in response.Â
âThatâs good.â Charlie ran a hand through her curls. âGoodnight baby girl.âÂ
âBig girl.â Margaux mumbled sleepily. Charlie smiled, leaning down and kissing her head.Â
âYou might be a big girl now but youâll always be my baby girl.â He whispered. âI love you.âÂ
âI love you too Daddy.â Margaux replied, her eyes already shut and her arms wrapped tightly around her new bear. Charlie stood up slowly and headed to the door, leaving it open a crack for a little bit of light to shine in.Â
He paused for a moment, just taking in the reality that Margaux was already four years old, and that she was growing up too fast. With one last look at the door he made his way down the hallway and outside to where he knew Owen was waiting.Â
âSheâs asleep.â He announced, flopping down on the outdoor sofa next to Owen.Â
âIâm not shocked, sheâs had a big day.â Owen replied, handing Charlie a cold beer that he had clearly gotten for him. Charlie took it thankfully, taking a large swig.Â
âCan you believe that sheâs four already? It feels like she was only just born and I was waking up to find out that her mother was gone and that it was only me and her. It was terrifying at the time, but looking back I wouldnât change it for the world.â He rambled. Owen rested his head on Charlieâs shoulder and Charlie wrapped his arm around the younger boy, pulling him closer.
âYou should be proud of yourself Char. Youâve done an amazing job.â Owen complimented, snuggling closer to Charlie as he took a mouthful of his beer.
âYou think so?â Charlie questioned. Owen nodded against his shoulder.
âI know so.â He sat up. âMargaux is the most well behaved kid Iâve ever met, I donât think Iâve ever seen her misbehave once in all the time Iâve known her. Sheâs an amazing kid and itâs all because she has the most amazing father.â
âThank you.â Charlie whispered, suddenly realising how close Owen was to him. He could feel Owenâs warm breath on his lips, and he found himself leaning in, the urge to kiss Owen overtaking his entire being. His lips brushed against Owenâs ever so slightly, but before they could properly commit to the kiss they were interrupted.Â
âHey, weâre gonna play...â Toriâs voice came and they jumped apart quickly. She trailed off, eyeing them carefully. âWere you two about to kiss?â
Charlie cleared his throat. Owenâs eyes widened.
âUh... no?â Owen lied. Tori shot them a suspicious look but clearly decided against pushing.
âRight... well weâre gonna play Cards Against Humanity if you want to join us.â She told them, before turning and heading back inside. Neither Charlie nor Owen moved, the silence was deafening. Finally Owen spoke.
âSorry.â He muttered quickly, before standing up and rushing inside. Charlie groaned, watching him leave, the feeling of Owenâs lips still lingering on his own.
âFuck.â He sighed, downing the last of his beer before standing up to join the rest of the group inside.
He would have to deal with the Owen situation later.

I know you posted it days ago but you said something about wanting to rant about either karl or his fanbase and its been itching at my brain. Ive no clue whats happening or what is happening at all cause no one seems to be making clear points?? Or explaining anything?
Obviously you do NOT have to talk about it im sure it might be a sore point to rant because people can get SO needlessly rude to others over it. But if you want to idk explain? Just rant? Im definetly curious what it was over or about.
The "you dont need to talk about this" is amplified by the fact i am DAYS late and you are probably over it by now.
okay hi yes im happy to talk about this but i think i should preface with two things:
1) even tho it may seem like im biased towards him or being very defensive of him im actually a super casual karl viewer and the only reason i am super defensive of him sometimes is bc we act a lot alike irl and that is mainly because of our neurodivegency. when i say a lot i mean we share traits like "annoying" stimming (jumping around, making loud noises, repeating the same phrases until everyone is sick of hearing them), the difficulty reading situations, the very obvious issues with volume control and not just bouncing from subject to subject to subject as we fucking please. basically anything you've seen karl do on stream that is Very Neurodivergent ive done the same in my own way which is why i get defensive when i see people calling him annoying or saying they dont like him, usually for these types of reasons. that being said, when i say im a very casual karl viewer, i fucking mean it. i usually only watch him when he's streaming with other ccs i like or when he's doing chill alt streams bc even with the annoying donos, he's pretty relaxing and comforting when he's just fucking around by himself and he isnt trying to get as hype as he would on a main channel stream. so yeah, it may seem like im biased and sure, i guess i am on some level, but it's not coming from a place of me hyperfixating on him or me even loving him as a cc, it's coming from me being a neurodivergent who likes him just enough to get upset when i see people basically being casually ableist towards him.
2) i dont have all the facts or even a great understanding on what the fuck has been happening recently with his "drama"...mostly bc he talked about it on his priv, which im not on, and people are gatekeeping the tweets, as they always do, and basically making you "dm to see them" (which is already a problem in and of itself bc apparently in these tweets he said he didnt want them being ss and shared, yet they are being shared thru dms over and over and over again like. at that point just stop withholding the information and post the fucking shit, you clearly dont care that he said "dont share"). additionally, most of the threads ive seen on this situation havent actually explained the initial issue, just talked about his apology (a lot of people have said "it's bad" but havent said why and with no screenshots ((i havent asked for someone to dm me them and i still havent seen them posted, which is mildly surprising, but incredibly frustrating at this point)), i only have a few basic details i can actually assess it on) or they talked about the initial issue in very vague details so um. excuse me trying to explain this now, but ill try and make it make sense with how little ive actually pieced together.
(oh, also, here's my first rant about the ableism in this fandom which is way more broad. this is a pretty different rant from that one, but they're both pretty big reasons why i hate this fandoms treatment of karl)
so basically the problems started with mr beast being apart of a charity stream that donated either to autism speaks or to a similar company, im unsure on that part. im also unsure on if the people participating in the stream actually knew of this or not bc, from what i remember, the money was being donated to a separate organization that was like. under the bad company or some shit like that, idk how stuff like that works and also i read about this shit months ago bc this originally happened months ago and just sorta came to a head recently.
anyways, i think karl was supposed to be apart of this stream but pulled out of it right before (that or these were two separate streams and karl was supposed to participate in the first but pulled out while mr beast did both?? idk. regardless karl did not actually participate, just mr beast). from there people started doing the guilt from association bullshit they always do, this was also doubled by the fact that the chris being racist stuff came out sometime around then and basically he got dragged all over twitter for "being ableist" and "supporting racists" and i cant remember if he actually apologized when this originally happened or not. i vaguely remember him apologizing about something back then but i genuinely dont know if it was this or something else.
basically that died down eventually, a good chunk of people unstanned him but him and honktwt didnt end up getting the lovely lil technotwt treatment and they still havent yet, surprisingly. good for them honestly ajsksk
but now we get to the past few weeks and apparently something happened with him "laughing at someone saying the r slur" (it was mizkif, i believe), specifically when it was directed at other people, which is a big yikes, obviously, but when karl was called out for this a lot of people kind of. made this into a situation that it wasnt bc um. basically karl didnt laugh at it, he gave a few nervous giggles, as people often do when in a situation like that (and karl specifically said he does this in the one part of his apology tweet which i did stumble upon, although it wasnt the important part of the apology thread bc why would it be) and people fucking crucified him for it. they quite literally dragged a neurodivergent man for supposedly "laughing at the r slur" when he can literally reclaim it and also he was just nervous laughing.
and this is where the situation just gets really bad because they. basically forced him to admit that he was autistic on his priv to apologize for this. i havent seen the screenshots of him saying this, but i saw people discussing it and i am frankly so fucking pissed about this because sure, it was a bad situation, and i understand people wanting an explanation, but an apology? for a neurodivergent man nervous laughing at a slur he can reclaim? and then forcing the man to admit something he literally said in that tweet he didnt want people to know which is why people were being so gatekeepy about it while also LOUDLY discussing the situation, as if that wouldnt drive MORE PEOPLE to look for screenshots and ways to get ahold of this information? and then people had the audacity to call it a "bad apology" when they had quite literally just violated his privacy by forcing him to admit something that he shouldnt have needed to share in the first place if he didnt want to, which he didnt.
and this is why im so pissed off. karl is already constantly picked at and made fun of and called annoying for his neurodivergent traits, things which he literally cant help, things which are generally harmless, and now he was forced into a situation where he can now be further picked at and made fun of and called annoying bc they forced him to admit something private instead of just understanding and accepting that he had been nervous laughing at someone using a slur he has definetly been called for his neurodivergency.
tldr of my thoughts: yes i think karl needed to address this situation, it definetly looked bad, but twitter stans have this sense of entitlement with their ccs and because of that, they consistently take it way too far and harm the people they claim to care about so dearly. we've seen it happen time and time again with dream, but this is the first time ive seen them basically force someone to out themselves to make their apology "valid" and most of them still seem to not want to accept it anyways, which just makes me feel bad for him bc now that info is out their and people are just disregarding it to continue "holding him accountable".
anyways, i think that's all i can really say on this topic rn tbh, if anyone else knows this situation better please feel free to lmk clarifications and ill add them in since, like i said, i know fuck all thanks to twitter being so goddamn hush hush about the important details while simultaneously being the loudest mfers about how much they hate karl now instead of just fucking unfollowing and moving on.
thanks for the ask and im sorry if this is confusing!! i just think this is one of those weird situations where like. i think karl deserved some criticism for what happened and how he handled it or at least he shouldve been asked to address it but that just. isnt what happened, at all. he was harrassed. karl got harrassed and because of that he handled this situation even more sloppily than he probably wouldve and exposed private info about himself that he didnt feel comfortable doing and it just. fucking sucks tbh.
#shit self#asks#karl jacobs#discourse#fandom critical#mcyt fandom critical#dsmp fandom critical#ask to tag#ableism#only reason im even saying what he said in those tweets is bc this situation literally makes no sense otherwise and basically everyone on#twt already fucking exposed this shit to people in and outside the fandom by bitching#long post#bangerz

(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9) (Part 10)Â (Part 11) (Part 12) (Part 13) (Part 14) (Part 15) (Part 16) (Part 17) (Part 18) (Part 19) (Part 20)
Jason clutched his right side as he gasped for a long breath of the cold, rainy air surrounding him. Everything hurt and he could barely move enough to text Dick that he was down. He would hold and add pressure to the stab wound sitting directly on his waist, but he could feel the blood seeping through the gaps in his fingers as he held it. His hands were covered by the blood and he was losing it fast.
He wasnât going to walk this off by any means, he was going to need Dick to go get him and bring him back to the hospital wing of the Batcave because he couldnât move and he felt his eyes drooping as he waiting and tried to keep his breathing in check, while Dick was scrambling to go get him.
There would be a few questions he would have to answer to Y/N. Not even just Y/N, to Lian, his Goddaughter, who he was planning on seeing in the morning since Y/N was going to a dance competition, or at least he thought she was.
But in that moment, so many memories flew back into his head, the hopelessness as he sat there for a few seconds, bleeding out after the explosion that Joker had set off on him. And then the minutes in the Lazarus Pit as he drowned himself back to life, the water filling his lungs as he cried and screamed. But no one came.
This time, however, Dick came.
Dick swooped his baby brother up and onto his back and he tried to run to the Batmobile as fast as he could, knowing time was of the essence for saving Jasonâs life. Jason had broke off from Dick for a few seconds before this moment, and it was the only thing Dick was worried about. That Dick had said to come back to him, alive.
In the car, Dick put his hands on Jason's gaping wound, trying to press his hands into it as well to slow the bleeding, the Batmobile had the ability to drive itself, and Dick thanked whatever God was watching that it did. Jason was struggling for breath at this moment, and Dick was terrified.
âYouâre going to be oaky, Jase. I swear. Please. Donât die on me, it feels like yesterday that I got you back,â he leaned into Jasonâs face, âNot again, please,â Dick begged and begged as he rushed Jason to Alfred, who was waiting to operate on Jason.
--------------------------------------------
Y/N woke up as always, this time, without a text from Jason. She thought nothing of it, thinking he was safe in his house with his loving family. She went to go get coffee to kick start her day, and A/N wasnât in the kitchen. She, still, thought nothing of it, since A/Nâs lover was over the night before and she had to turn up her music to ignore the sounds coming from the other side of the house. She sent Jason a quick text,
Good morning, Jay. I hope you slept well.
And she returned to her room, coffee in hand, to write some quick little stories about what she had placed in her journal. Not many of the ideas in there were able to be built off of, but she still tried her best with every idea she had, to see if it could be something more.
It normally never was, but it was always something she craved. The ideas of writing a book always enticed her, but she never thought she was talented enough to do so.
She heard her roommateâs door open and then the front door as A/N waved off her lover. It was a quiet Saturday morning, and Y/N loved that as she dove further and further into her work, immersing herself in the story of two lovers who were destined to meet after one moved to the hometown of the other to pursue criminal psychology.
She couldnât get her mind off of Jason. They hadnât even known each other for a week but she knew he was worth her time. A few hours passed by from when she sent the first text.
---------------------------------------------
Dick held Jasonâs hand as he was hooked up to many different machines, he could breathe on his own, but the IV and the blood bags were hard to keep Dickâs eyes off of. If only I had been watching a little closer, he thought.
Jason fumbled in his pain-induced sleep, moaning and groaning as he did so when he opened his eyes to find a worried, sleep-deprived and very rough-looking Dick at his bedside, to which, Dick collapsed on Jason in a hug.
âThank God,â Dick breathed.
âWhat... what the fuck.... what the fuck happened?â Jason stuttered, like a blanket of sleep and drugs had limited his mobility and brain function.
âI donât know, Jase. Thatâs what I was hoping youâd tell me, but then again, your blood alcohol level was suspicious.â
âI... I didnât drink... drink that much.â
âNo, you didnât. But you did drink, who was with you?â
âI donât... know.â
âI think you were roofied so they could get the upper hand on you. You almost died, Jase.â
âCome...câmere,â Jason managed to say, and when Dick came to him, he moved on of his hands onto Dickâs cheek, âBig... big annoying... big little annoying brother.â
âShhhhhh, little wing,â Dick comforted his little brother, âYou werenât supposed to grow that much taller than me,â he laughed, âDickhead,â he laughed again, then sighed, and stepped back from Jason to pace back and forth, he was stressed, âI told Roy-â
âWill.â
âWill, sorry. I told Will that you wonât be able to see Lian today, he asked what happened, he might drop by.â
âHe should... shouldnât have to... see me this... this way,â Jason said, eyes pooling with tears, âNo one... should.â
âDonât know how weâre going to explain this to your little girlfriend.â
âOh... Man... I like... I like her.â
âI know you do, and thatâs an issue when youâre high as a kite in a hospital bed, bleeding out, Jase,â Dick tried to explain, âEspecially when she doesnât know youâre Red Hood, dumbass.â
âOh,â he said.
âI know, Jase. If it was me and Barbara didnât know, I wouldnât know what to do,â he sighed, âHavenât even met this girl,â he laughed.
âItâs... itâs only been... 5 days,â he stuttered.
âand 3 back-to-back, multiple hour, spanning days, worth of dates. You donât do that with someone you donât think should meet your family.â
âYouâre... stubborn.â
âAnd youâre my brother. It doesnât take blood to exhibit the same traits.â
âThe meds... are... are wearing off.â
âDo you need more?â
âNot... yet,â he struggled with his words, âPhone?â
âI mean, yeah I can give you your phone,â Dick said as he went to go unplug and hand Jason his phone, realizing that Y/N had texted Jason he said, âGuess you have someone who wants to know where you are more than Will does.â
âWill cares,â Jason said as he took the phone and read Y/Nâs text,
I guess it isnât morning anymore, huh.
Well thatâs on me for texting you at 6 in the morning after I know youâve been working late.
And Iâm going to see my Goddaughter today, so Iâve been sleeping in to preserve energy for her.
Canât forget that sheâs what, 1 year old? Girl must have a lot of energy.
Her nameâs Lian, and yeah. Sheâs a ball of energy.
He said as Lian and her dad, Will, formerly known as Roy, walked into the hospital wing of the Batcave. The secret wasnât hidden to the little girl yet because she couldnât remember a lot. But, she sure did recognize her Uncle Jay when she screamed her name.
Will brought his daughter up and put her beside her Uncle, and she cuddled into him, he would hold her back.
âHey... Will.â
âYou look like shit, Jaybird.â
âI feel... feel like shit.â
âYouâre also talking slow, bud.â
âDrugs... do that... Will.â
âAt least youâre not dead, I have no idea how Iâd cope or even explain that to Lian.â
âShe... she has your... eyes.â
âSheâs growing into my nose too.â
âYour nose... looks like shit... on your face.â
âOkay, dickhead. Youâre bedridden but yeah, attack me like you used to, Iâll just pull the plug.â
âLian... would hate you... you for that,â he groaned as he said it.
âDo you need more drugs? I can tell Dick,â Will asked.
âYeah... I think-â
âDonât worry about finishing that, Jaybird. I got you.â
------------------------------------------------------
The wet ground surrounding the house Y/N lived in was a representation of what she considered, the bad things, washing away from her life as she got to know Jason more. She wished they could talk more that day, but she did not want to take away time from him and his Goddaughter. Family matters a lot to Y/N, so a thought like that just seemed selfish for her to think when she knew that little girl needed him.
She didnât think he got injured or anything from the Office, it was a safer place than the fuckin Wayne Manor hallways. She texted Artemis,
So, youâre Wallyâs girlfriend, and Wally is Dickâs best friend? Am I hearing you right?
Thatâs basically the intertwine we have here, yes.
So once youâre in this family, youâre IN, huh?
Nervous?
Not a chance.
The thrill of flipping off pap hasnât left you yet?
Does everyone know about that? And yes, itâs still massively fun to do.
Wally says Dick is the only one who doesnât think its that funny.
Lame.
Câmon now, thatâs my best friend, but yeah, thatâs pretty fucking lame.
Youâre the fun best friend, then. You see the fun in making a fool of the pap.
You know it.
Artemis knew of what happened on patrol between Jason and his unknown attacker. Dick had told Artemis to distract Y/N from wondering why Jason seemed drunk, if he seemed drunk. The extents they went to to hide the fact that they were the vigilantes protecting the city, they didnât know if she was going to be able to keep the secret.
Jason would talk to her after that message,
That storm last night was terrible.
I wish that we were together when it happened. I hate lightning.
Well, you were in Cali.
Did I not tell you? My competition was cancelled because the entire country is fucked with weather.
Oh. That sucks.
Do you want to spend the night here?
---------------------------------------
Do you want to spend the night here?
Jason stared at that text for a while. He did, he wanted to spend the night with her, but he was in pain, hooked to machines, with obvious wounds and bandages. He couldnât spend the night with her.
I canât. Iâm in Metropolis with Will and Lian. Can we reschedule?
Of course we can. As long as you make sure we actually get to spend the night together.
He asked Dick in that moment, âHow... how long... long til I heal?â
âDepends. Youâll be okay-ish in 5 days, but in 7-10 we have to take out your stitches if youâve been taking care of them,â he said.
âThat... that long? Damn.â

My prompts
So I have written some prompts that you can ask to use. I will continue to add more. The ones that have italics or look like 'this'Â can be anyone's dialogue. I just added it so you know it's not only one person talking. To ask, you can just request the number of the prompt/s you can ask for multiple prompts, but please don't add too many. The ones that have a period at the end of the numbers, don't mind that. That's for me to remember something. Okay, anywho, take your pick :D. Remember you don't have to request one of these, you have your own idea, that's good! I'll be happy to write it! If you have a certain gender you want the reader to be don't forget to ask! You can also request me to add prompts to the list too! Okay so here's the prompts :)
1 "Oh no."
"What is it? What happened? Who died?"
"I think I just felt an emotion."
"You have GOT to be kidding me."
2 "Excuse me. I have to go make a scene."
3 "They're like a hurricane in human form."
4 "Fix it."
"It's a ransom note: I don't care about grammar!"
"There is no excuse for bad grammar."
5 "What does the little blinking light mean?"
"It means... wait blinking light?"
6 "What letter comes after 's' in the alphabet?
"T?"
"Ooh, yes please!"
7 "Why is there a magical portal in the bathtub?!"
8 "I love you from the bottom of my heart, but I don't trust your cooking. Stay out of my kitchen."
9 "We can't have a crisis- my schedule is already full..
10 "How long have you been standing there?
"Longer than you'd like."
11 "Small fire! I said to set a small fire! This is not small!"
12 "I want to go home."
"And I want to go to the moon. It ain't happening, sweetheart. Time to accept that."
13 "It's really not that complicated."
14 "Close the door."
15 "It's three in the morning."
16 "Why are you helping me?"
17 "Just trust me."
18 "What are you thinking about?"
19 "Someday you'll thank me for kidnapping you?"
20 "Who sent you here?"
"I wasn't sent here... if anything, it was an accident."
"Made by whom?"
"Myself, I suppose."
"You sent yourself here on accident?"
"Well, I certainly didn't come here on purpose..."
21 "I just want to be happy."
22 "Can I sleep over? My parents are fighting again."
23 "Why won't you let me help you?!"
24 "You know we make a pretty good team."
25 "You're a horrible liar."
26 "You're freezing. Come here."
27 "I'm saying that because I care about you!
28 "Sing me a song please.
29 "I can explain./!"
30 "Come here."
31 "The real treasure was the memories we made along the way."
"I almost died!"
"Ah yes, that was my fondest memory."
32 "They're crying, what do I do?"
"Go comfort them."
"How do I do that?"
"Start with hugs."
"With what?"
33 "Somehow you don't even have to open your mouth to make my head hurt."
34 "Stop waking me up in the middle of the night."
35 "Any shorter and you'd probably fade out of existence."
36 "I fixed you breakfast. I know it's just a bowl of cereal, but it's the only thing I can't burn."
37 "You just gave off the impression that you want to murder everyone you look at."
38 "It's not my birthday."
"It's definitely your birthday."
"Give me a calendar and I will prove it toâoh. Never mind. Happy birthday to me."
39 "Bold of you to assume I wouldn't just summon a trans-dimensional entity to help me avoid all my problems."
40 "I'm not human. I never was. So, why are you expecting me to act like one?
41 "Everything here can kill you, but I can do it most efficiently."
42 "They took my wallet. Yes, just my wallet. Well.... maybe my passport too."
43 "I don't think of you as a protector. More like a friend."
44 "You deserved that."
45 "Shh, shh. You were dreaming."
46 "I won't leave you behind."
47 "You should be in bed."
48 "What's our exit strategy?"
"Our what?"
"Oh my god, we are all going to die."
49 "Oh my god, you're taking up the whole bed."
50 "I could keep you safe, they're all afraid of me."
51 "I trusted you!"
52 "I know your secret."
"You're gonna have to be more specific there, buddy. Which one? I have a lot of skeletons in my closet."
53 "Who gave you that black eye?!"
54 "Everyone keeps telling me your bad guy."
55 "Why? Because I don't want you to get hurt, that's why!"
56 "You're scared of that, aren't you?"
57 "Come on, when have my calculations ever been wrong?"
"Well-"
"Shut up, that was one time."
58 "Enjoying the view, sunshine?"
59 "While I do enjoy the silent treatment, I wasn't aware I had done anything to you."
60 "I think that's enough."
61 "They deserved it."
62 "What... is this?"
63 "You can't be serious!"
64 "I'm not sorry!"
65 "Who are you?"
"Oh sweetheart, I'm your worst nightmare."
"Wait a minute. Your that guy that tripped over my shoes on the bus this morning and said thank you-"
66 "Just because I'm helping you doesn't mean I care, your death would be a minor inconvenience. That's all."
67 "You owe me."
68 "Don't make me come in there."
69 "Don't touch me."
70 "That wasn't funny."
71 "I am fully convinced you never graduated kindergarten."
72 "Am I doing it right?"
73 "For God's sake! Who have you killed now?"
74 "Do you even know how to fly this thing?"
"Normally, I'd lie and say yes, but considering the fact that I almost flew us into that building, I'm going to assume you know the answer."
75 "What are you doing?! Don't eat it!"
76 "Feel free to admire me."
77 "You're insane!"
"I know! Isn't it great?"
78 "You don't know a thing."
79 "The truth is I never loved you."
80 "Is this a game to you?"
81 "Stop yelling at me."
"I'm not yelling at you! I'm just... being abnormally projective in the vocal region!"
"Otherwise known as yelling..."
82 "Don't ever forget me. Please?"
83 "I screwed up."
84 "You're my regret."
85 "No, sir. I am not underestimating the kidnappers. YOU are understanding my grandmother."
86 "Stay away from the llama."
87 "No one visits my grave anymore... wait. I don't even have a grave!"
88 "Tuna shamed."
89 "Well, I can scratch that off my bucket list."
"Who puts getting arrested on their bucket list?!"
90 "I-I can't stop it. I'm sorry..."
"It's okay, it's okay. Just breathe. You don't have to be sorry for anything. I got you."
91 "What am I supposed to tell my parents? 'Hi mom and dad, I ,snuck out past curfew, almost died, discovered I can teleport, and now I'm joining a gang of superheroes.'"
"Maybe don't use the word 'gang'."
"You think that's the part they'll have the most trouble with?!"
92 "Give me the wallet or I shoot."
"No."
"What do you mean no? I'm serious, I will shoot you."
"Let me repeat myself. No."
"Um... okay I guess."
"Aren't you going to shoot me?"
"I don't know. This hasn't happened before."
"Well, until you do, wanna grab a bite to eat? I'm starving."
93 "Watch me."
94 "I thought you were dead."
95 "You're never going to let that go, are you?"
96 "Was that supposed to hurt?"
97 "You have to leave right now."
98
"I love you."
99 "I hate you.
100 "I didn't catch your name."
"I didn't throw it."
101 "How long has it been since you last ate something?"
102. "No, don't look at me!"
103. "How many marshmallows can you eat?"
104 "Why did you kick so much in your sleep? Are you constantly dreaming about soccer?"
105 "Destroying lives, one person at a time."
106 "Why exactly do you need chloroform at 2am.
107 "Just breathe."
108. "STOP EATING MY LASAGNA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!"
109. "I don't understand why you should feel the urge to do that."
110. "I trust you."
"Wow, that incredibly... stupid of you."
111 "You broke my heart and all you can say is sorry?"
112 "You can't really blame me can you? You can only blame yourself."
113. "You keep painting me as the villain."
"Because you are the villain."
114. "Who could ever love someone like you?"
115 "I never stood a chance, did I?"
"That's the sad part - you did once."
116 "I've missed this."
117. "Who are you to tell me how to live my life?"
118. "Are you going to yell at me too? I guess I do deserve it."
119 "I don't want to have another surgery."
120. "Quit touching the IV."
121 "I was going to say something mean about them, but decided against it."
122 "How do you like raisins? How do you feel about a date?"
123. "Are you going to stand there or are you going to kiss me? I'm tired of lying to my diary."

Hidden Scars

Chapter 14
Your ears still ring when you feel a sudden weight pressing against your chest. With the forehead pressed into your sternum, Miranda's breath is hot and hasty through the thin layer of the shirt youâre wearing, and her blunt nails scratch your sides where she grips the fabric.
âWhy did you follow me?â She growls in your chest, jaw clenched. Her voice urgent, angry, scary, and you feel compelled to give an answer. âWhy?â
âI donât know!â You reply sincerely, pressing yourself even more into the wall behind your back, as if youâre trying to put some distance between the two of you, while, in reality, you donât crave anything but her closeness.
You draw in a long breath when she pulls away, falling on her haunches and then sitting beside you on the mattress.
âIâm sorry.â She says. Itâs a feeble mumble, so soft and confused, in fact, that you even question if youâve truly heard those words or made them up in your mind. âIâve doomed us both.â She chuckles bitterly.
âYouâre sorry?â You query, raising your eyebrows.
Miranda sighs sharply, lolls her head back, blue eyes glued to the ceiling, perhaps focused on the rhythmic and unchanging spinning motion of the air vent.
âStrangely enough, theyâll keep picking on you.â
âBecause they think Iâm easier to break than you.â You snort, matter-of-factly, wrapping your arms loosely around your knees. Sighing yourself, you rest your chin there, your gaze drifting off on the small creases on the floor. âAnd theyâre probably right.â You add with a whisper.
âNo,â again, Miranda chuckles bitterly; but sheâs not just that: this time, she sounds even sad, âitâs not that.â She pauses.
You contemplate the idea of lifting your head in her direction, asking what she means, but in the end, you decide against it.
âBesides,â she clicks her tongue, and this time you canât help tilting your head just slightly, catching the snide, yet reassuring glee in her eyes, âI want the pleasure of breaking you for myself.â
Despite the whole situation, your lips curve into a smile.
âIâll try my best.â
There are a few minutes of silence then, both grounding yourself on the rhythmic buzz of the vent - or so you think - and finally, you stretch her legs, mirroring her pose, your shoes banging together before you move away, fearing that even that little contact is too much, right now.
You draw a small intake of air and scoff. âYou know, itâs weird to have a man picking on me and you rushing to my defence, for once.â Thereâs a broken smile tugging at your mouth, but even if youâre trying, itâs impossible to hide the shadow of amusement behind those words. After all those months youâd consider this a small victory, if somebody were to ask.
Miranda smirks, you can see her looking at you with narrow eyes.
âYouâve established already that I care; in the ally, before all this. So donât pretend to be surprised. â She states softly, without much engagement. âIâve made you able to defend yourself, but one simply cannot become perfect over a few weeks of training, and nobody can outdo a bullet. Besides, I canât just let them waste my work now, can I?â She cocks her head, bares her sharp teeth. âThe rest was-â she pauses, broods a little, then shrugs, âtoying around.â
You know sheâs talking about sex. You know sheâs talking about the kisses, the teasing, you know sheâs talking about all the tension she used to build, only to blow it off with a fight, of weapons or limbs, of anger or lust. You would never complain about that, never deny you liked that peculiar, thrilling relationship that nobody could ever put a label on.
âI know.â You nod slowly. âI just happen to suddenly wish that⌠I was more than a plaything?â
Miranda snorts.
âYou werenât supposed to fall for me.â She bites hard on one of her nails, tugs the splinter off and toss it across the small room.
âYouâve made that quite clear already.â You sigh.
Honestly, there isnât much you can do or say right now.
Resting your head against the wall, you close your eyes for a few moments, anchoring yourself to the feeble sound of your own breathing. You want to curl up in that filthy mattress and fall asleep for days, but you also want to know what will happen next - if she thinks youâre going to survive, yes, but most of all, what's going to happen between the two of you. Whatever you had has shifted now, and not just because you said that you loved her, but because youâre both trapped in a cell, waiting.
âIt wasnât supposed to go like that-â Miranda inhales sharply, and the tone of her voice - low, husky, sad even - makes your frown. âItâs not your fault.â
What is she even talking about? Everything is your fault: from letting her kidnap you that distant night, to being currently in that situation, without knowing youâll ever get out in one piece and alive.
âMiranda?â You call, turning your head slightly in her direction.
âI told you that you made us vulnerable, but you just sped up the process.â She murmurs, her gaze stubbornly fixated in the corner between the wall and the ceiling. âI had plans.â She breathes out, and the words seem heavy when they leave her mouth. âI just wasnât ready, not yet- because I wasnât sure you-â
âPlans?â
âMh.â She nods once, her head is low. Her curtain of dark, tousled hair hiding her face from you. âYou asked me if we could disappear-â
âWe?â You echo, cocking an eyebrow.
Her breath hitches; Miranda gasps, and as if sheâs been awoken by a dream, she blinks, clearing her throat.
âItâs complicated.â
âWas it ever easy with you?â Despite the tension, you chuff out a chuckle.
Miranda lifts her head, the hair part on each shoulder, revealing her expression: she smiles; itâs a small one and itâs broken, but itâs there.
âI get agitated when things donât follow my timings.â She breathes out slowly and by the way she clears her throat you can feel itâs not easy, for her, to confess such things that surely she considers a vulnerability, or weakness, and perhaps, judging by the turns of events, they really are.
You start to believe that you being kidnapped by Victor wasnât just your fault, that maybe she has something to do with it too. But then again, no, everything was going fine before you decided to let your heart speak.
âMiranda, look- Iâm sorry. I really am.â You sigh heavily. âI just needed to- I donât know- tell you. It came out, like I couldnât keep it inside anymore.â
âI did ask you, though.â Miranda replies with a bittersweet snort. âYouâre so obedient, so eager to please⌠that when I asked you to speak up, you just had to answer me.â
Unconsciously, your head moves into a slow nod.
Sheâs not mocking, but sheâs not praising you either. Just like most of the time, you donât know what to think.
You swallow through a dry throat, drawing your thighs to your chest and hugging your leg to rest your chin on top of your knees once again. The position gives you comfort.
âAnyway, youâre right: I canât take it back.â You mumble. âI canât because I canât, but also because I- donât want to.â
Miranda chuffs out a chuckle. Before you can even register whatâs happening, her hand has gripped the collar of your shirt, and sheâs tugging you to her with surprising strength. Caught off guard, you can only let out a pitiful yelp when she collides against your mouth and pecks a kiss on your lips.
It has nothing to do with lust, nor passion: itâs similar to the first one ever, when she hovered on you, eyes blue and sparkling, fangs bared and dangerously close to your face, asking insistently if youâd ever leave.
You haven't left her then, you haven't left the apartment when you got the chance, and you wonât leave now, not even to shy away from something you should regret saying but you donât.
Her breath fans your lips when she parts from you, and you search her face, her eyes, but she has them close. Her grips loosen.
âIâll get us out of here, mâeudail.â She blows against your mouth.
âYou said it already.â You feel her lips tugging into her smile against your own, but it doesnât bring you any relief: if anything, a dull pang to your heart.
âI know.â

Oooh yeah the first time I was playing as a female mc because I wanted to romance ava and I usually go male mc if I want to romance a man and female mc if I want to romance a woman (and I think there was one book with where mc could be non-binary so I picked that one but I didn't finished the book), and Stacy's brother felt Hetero⢠in a way, like Hollywood ish (? Honestly like cinematographicly bad hetero) but I ended up really loving Andy too, and Stacy felt a little flat but also I really liked her potential, like go crazy girl, and the mom issues.
Apart but holy shit you're 10000% right about that teacher like who inmediately threatens expulsion just like that for something not violent ??? And to an honor student with way too much on his plate ??? Obviously it would have been bad with any student, but you have literally the reason of why he's doing it and as a teacher HE LITERALLY COULD HAVE HELPED WITH IT ??????? Like something teachers can't really help students because it's a family thing only or is a financial struggle or etc but it was literally because of school (and his family, but the teacher could have heloed him with the school part)
(Identity thief anon (also I go by any pronouns ahhshs))
ur valid! that's lowkey what i wish i'd do (picking female MC if my fave LI is female and the other way around, i mean) but unfortunately i always go into the stories blindly having no idea what i'll find </3 so i cant really do that doiajdiosa and then i get attached for the MC i picked so i feel bad about changing their gender/name/appearance when i replay. so what i usually do is that i pick a male MC when i get the option because A- u don't always get the option, so i end up being male half the time and female half the time either way; and B- i feel slightly more comfortable with a male identity than a female one. like i'm still nonbinary and i wouldn't consider myself male aligned or within the gender of Man, but like... when i first came out i went by any pronouns but then because im afab everyone was like "cool, she/her only it is" so i was like fuck that and stopped using she/her. so i feel slightly more comfortable with a masc MC and end up going with that
there's also the fact that it always feels slightly genderfucky to have a male MC because choices is so sexist and also always writes the stories assuming ull pick a female MC, even when they give u the option not to. so when u pick a male MC he's very like not toxically masc and some things they add to make a QuiRkY MC that are very white woman and would feel annoying are actually kind of subversive for my black and brown male MCs. so like another win for queerness /j
ILITW MC in particular i feel has HUGE nonbinary vibes like no reason at all he just does <3 maybe it's just that for once the male clothes for ILITW actually fUCK. i wanna dress in that goth outfit <3 so gorgeous ugh. i love him even tho he's a fucking dumbass
also there's a book where an MC can be enby? worm? ive only ever read one book in choices with any enby characters at all (america's most elligible, books 2-3) but they weren't even a LI which is disappointing cuz they were a billion times superior to any of the LIs. sorry america's most elligible LIs fans
also oh connor IS the epitome of white cistraight man even when u play as a man tbh, like he was just so cistraight to me daouhdsaojdasij he kind of annoys me but also i forget that he even exists until he shows up onscreen and choices starts trying to push me into his lap and i'm just like, ugh, not again
and yeah i think i feel a similar way about stacy. i don't dislike her as a character and i don't feel like she as a character felt flat, her growth was very interesting and i loved seeing her start to challenge her mom like YESSS GO GIRL GIVE US EVERYTHING, she just felt flat as a LI to me ig? like idk i didn't feel chemistry between her and my MC personally, but also like, stacy girls are valid u know
right exactly. like i don't think ppl really understand that a school that doesn't drive people to cry during finals week and feel absolutely crushed by having to be there and that makes ppl feel like they're stupid, not enough, and overwhelmed IS IN FACT POSSIBLE and actually pretty easy to make when we stop treating students like statistics that will get the school more clients/funding (depending on whether it's a private or public school). and like as a teacher getting my degree in brasil it just feels completely surreal to me that anyone would see a student who's so overwhelmed by the amount of extracurriculars and responsibilities he feels like he has to take that he starts taking drugs to help his performance despite it affecting his health, and see that as like... something morally reprehensible? like it is bad that it happened but it's not the student's fault, what's morally reprehensible are the circumstances that led to his decision, not his decision
and like it is very much a systemic problem, more and more kids are taking focus pills to be able to survive the pressure of school and have a shot at a future, either on their own or because we are actually medicalizing not existing to be productive. and if it's a systemic problem then the fault is at the system?? and like holy shit i legit don't understand why choices gave us options like being like "it still isn't enough" when lucas gets rid of his pills, what do you mean it isn't enough??? enough for what??? to FORGIVE him???? for something that only hurt himself??? for something that is very much a systemic problem and therefore NOT HIS FAULT????? literally what the fuck even is this, lucas doesn't have to "make up" for a single thing, he needs to be HELPED is what he needs
like idk i know that the school system in the US is...... extremely backwards lmao which is not a term i like to use because it usually implies imperialistic views but the US is the height of world imperialism so like actually idc. brasil has a pretty progressive constitution and as a teacher my whole education was focused on being critical of the school system, particularly the productivity obsession, and drilling into us again and again that we aren't supposed to just be teaching subjects, we are also supposed to be teaching how to be a citizen, be a critical human being, work towards building a better future, and learning and growing AS A PERSON to be healthy and happy are values of the school system
like that's easier said than done when schools are under insane amounts of pressure by companies in practice to be productivity-driven, and most teachers who actually want to do a good job end up having to live at the edge of the knife and constantly fighting back outside pressure, but at least it is very much a mandatory part of our education to become teachers and also like literally part of the constitution. so i just... i can't fathom reacting the way mr cooper did? like as a teacher i felt BETRAYED, i felt like he shat all over my profession because that is the opposite of what we should be doing, this is a kid who needs help
and just like hOLY SHIT HE DID NOTHING WRONG, what are you punishing him for??? it's not even a like, stealing bread to feed your family situation, because what he did HAS NO VICTIM OTHER THAN HIMSELF, and therefore HE IS THE VICTIM NOT THE CULPRIT. he doesn't have to repent or atone or answer for a single fucking thing, he didn't victimize others, he doesn't have to apologize, there's nothing to punish him fOR??? like i don't believe in punishment anyway cuz im a prison abolitionist but doDAUSDJADASIJDAS???????????? HE DIDN'T. HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG. WHY IS THIS WHOLE GAME ACTING AS IF HE WAS IN THE WRONG. OH MY GOD
it's like saying that someone needs to be forgiven for self harming????? like how is it that someone has been hurt continuously until it led them to hurt themselves and then they have to? make up for it to a bunch of other ppl? my god it makes me so mad and i genuinely don't understand the logic, like usually when i see someone doing fucked up shit i can see the logic but i don't agree with it, but this time i genuinely DON'T SEE THE LOGIC. my USan friends said it was because he was technically doing drugs but like i legit still don't understand
anyway any school that drives a student to do something like that needs to rethink their entire curriculum and the psychological effect it's having on kids, because lucas is 1- not even the first one according to mr cooper; 2- even if he was, that'd be the only one who got CAUGHT; and 3- even if there was really only one singular student who went tHIS far, i doubt the others weren't feeling that same pressure and dealing with it in other similarly unhealthy ways
i know that's probably easier in brasil than in the US even if it's by no means easy here because here at least in public schools the curriculum and political-pedagogical plan has to be agreed on by the school community (teachers, parents, students, workers, and anyone who lives in the area of the school) and it's updated every year, so like, you have more means to do something to change the school in a deeper way, altho of course that still has to mean swinging the rest of the community, but still. but at the very least he could have looked for counseling for him? tried to find a way to take some of the workload off his shoulders? given him some more time on assignments? motioning for all the clubs he was the president of to have co-presidents so he was less overwhelmed?
like there was just daodsao he could have done so many things and he justs DIDN'T he chose to not only punish him instead but quite literally THREATEN HIM WITH DEATH because that's what calling the police on a latino student over a drug charge is. like he might've survived but the possibility that he would fucking DIE was very much there, and i know choices didn't think of that because they'd rather die than think about the racial implications of anything but holy fucking shit. and im not even getting into how mr cooper is BLACK because then ill just start biting people like thanks for putting that threat on a black character's mouth choices. if u need me ill be foaming at the mouth
anyway SORRY god why is it that i always get to the salty part within 2 seconds of joining a fandom i promise that i actually like it lives and the way they handled most of their plot, i genuinely think it's a very well written and actually worth ur time story but i just doadosaida like i said particularly as a teacher in the context where i'm being taught, plus with all my political beliefs, i just can't let it go aaaa
also ty for telling me ur pronouns! idk if i assumed them at any time, i don't think so but i might have done so without realizing and if i did im really sorry. also sorry for the gigantic salty reply daojdsaojdaisjsajdoadsaodasj rip me i never shut up

ooh ask day! are you working on any of your own writing at the moment? what excites you about it? is your writing similar to your prompts in any way? or do the prompts fulfill something else for you?
mainly im working on getting my first novel published, which you can read about HERE. otherwise, the sequel, an adult fiction project, and an urban fantasy type YA about a town called florida. in florida. Florida, florida.
Florida project, working title BORDERLINE, is the most in line with my general prompt vibe here. a little cosmic horror, bent reality, just generally odd.
I never write stuff based off the prompts, but I DO write prompts based off my own stuff, very occasionally. for me, writing prompts is like scales for a musician. keeps my brain well oiled.
*still taking asks, no requests please*
anyway, ive been working on Florida project a lot lately. have an excerpt:
Backpage:
Lin OâLeary was born and raised in the town of Florida, Florida, tucked away into a corner of the stateâs forgotten coast. All the locals know Florida is a strange place, rumored to stand on a borderline, where the veil is thin and mysterious forces wander alongside the human population. The daughter of Irish and Mexican immigrants, Lin knows you can only find trouble if you go looking for it, and like the rest of Floridaâs residents, lives comfortably alongside the supernatural. This is before Momoko Kasahara disappears into thin air, frightening the town of Florida into a new, ultra-cautious existence. Five years after Momoâs disappearance, Lin is seventeen, a highschool dropout now working at a convenience store, her once vibrant town still plagued by fear. The days drag by, mundane as they come in Florida, occasionally punctuated by unpleasant visits from Bo Kasahara, brother to Momo and full time asshole. Then, one fateful late shift, Lin sees the missing Kasahara twin standing in the aisles, gone as quickly as she appeared. Meanwhile, a stranger arrives from California, claiming to be a paranormal investigator hellbent on uncovering the mysteries of Florida, and suddenly Lin is faced with a choice. Be smart and keep her head down, or dive headlong into the strange mist that so often covers Florida, to rescue Momo Kasahara, and return her town to the way she remembers it.
1. 100% humidity feels like breathing underwater.
L I N
Florida ate Momoko Kasahara on the most miserable day of the year, and washed her down with a thunderstorm. A lot of other important things happened that day, but Momoâs disappearance overshadowed them all. Momo was the coolest girl in our class. She had shiny black hair that ran down to her waist. She liked to wear a different flavor of lip gloss every day of the week, and could sing in Japanese. I was on my way home from the beach when I saw the police cars in her driveway, and her twin brother sitting on the porch, painted purple in the twilight.Â
He shook his head, at me, slow, and all the sound seemed to drain out of the world. The flashing police lights distorted his face, as bright white clouds passed too quickly above us. The whole scene drove a stake of wrongness hard into my chest. Sometimes even now, I dream about it. Bo and I watching each other. The dead silence. The purple light. The too white clouds. And Momo, eaten. For the first time in my life, I was afraid of my own town.Â
My name is Lin Oâleary. I live in Florida, Florida, a nothing sort of place crammed into an extra forgotten corner of the stateâs already forgotten coast. Some days I can forget about Momo, and everything that happened in the hours before she vanished. Heff says Iâm good at keeping my eyes closed, even when theyâre open.Â
I really wish he were right.Â
2. Cloudy with a chance of hotdogs (haunted).
J U L I E N
I was standing in front of the worst building I had ever seen. Slab grey and full of sharp edges, additions had been slapped onto every side until it resembled an impossible puzzle piece. The front windows were crowded with signs for cold beer and hot food, but the glass itself was opaque. It was a convenience store from hell, a collection of stationary parts so nonsensical I was worried it might grow a few new alcoves if I blinked. Above the door, an unintelligible sign in complicated neon cursive flashed electric blue. There was a neon clock too, flickering wildly, just striking twelve.
I must have walked halfway across town, and as far I could tell this was the only place that sold food at all, let alone past three in the morning. Still, I couldnât bring myself to go inside. My stomach was a mess, and haunted convenience store hot dogs could only make it worse. I fished my phone out of my pocket, but the little service I had was, like the midnight clock above me, barely clinging to existence, my map application nothing more than a collection of beige squares. There was no one around. The sky was intensely dark, a pitch black blanket of clouds. Water hung thick in the air, the night time street so quiet I could almost hear beads of sweat sliding down my already slick face. No, there was nothing for it. I needed directions.Â
The bell above the door made a strange, flat sound as I pressed inside. If the building was weird from the outside, that was nothing to its interior. The shelves, tall and numerous, had been arranged like maze walls. The overhead lights were blinding, stark white, and every other tile on the floor was mismatched. Some were squares of carpet. The only thing really visible from the entrance was the register, a fortress made of dark wood and surrounded by lottery advertisements. Behind the counter, a girl was reading something intently. As I got closer, I saw it was the back of a box of oatmeal.
âHi,â I said, adjusting the duffel bag that had been crushing my left shoulder for an hour.Â
The girl nodded, but didnât look up. She had thin black hair, pin straight and chin length. Her skin was a warm, golden brown. Her shirt said something in miniscule writing, but my glasses were a little foggy, so I would have had to practically press my face to her chest to read it, which didnât seem like a great first impression.
âCan you help me? Iâm looking for the Fahrenheit Motel. I think itâs supposed to be around here.âÂ
Finally, she glanced at me.Â
âItâs just around the corner. See the glasses store across the street? Go straight past that and make the second left, youâll run right into it.âÂ
She pointed out the window, and I realized they were one way.Â
âWho built this place?â I asked.Â
She shrugged.Â
âWeâve had a lot of owners. Everyone adds something new.â
There was something off about her. Like we were talking, but mentally she was stillÂ
reading the box of oatmeal.Â
âIâm Julien,â I said, sticking out a hand. She raised her eyebrows before taking it.Â
âLin,â she said, with another small nod.Â
Her face was round, but her features were knife sharp. I wondered what she looked like angry. Maybe that was a really weird thing to think.Â
Not wanting to ask for a second set of directions, I wandered around the store for thirty minutes before returning to the counter with a gallon of chocolate milk and a bag of seaweed flavored potato chips.Â
âI canât believe you have these. I didnât think you could find them outside of California.â
Instead of replying, Lin held up the chocolate milk.Â
âThereâs no fridge in your room at the Fahrenheit. You know that right?â
âI was told on the phone⌠â I started.
âThereâs a fridge, but itâs in the lobby, communal. Kimmyâll drink this.â She gave the milk a little shake before scanning it. âJust warning you.â
âThanks,â I said, as she stuffed my things in a smiling shopping bag.Â
I paused on my way out.
âGoodnight,â I said, âOr, good morning I guess.âÂ
Lin stared at me, then glanced at the box of oatmeal and back.Â
âMorning,â she said, with a sigh.
***
I followed Linâs directions, and wound up at last in front of a long, low building sporting a vacancies sign. Even in low light I could see about a hundred sad looking plastic flamingos had been stuck all over the lawn, the bushes, even the gravel path that led to the front door. I had to pick my way around them on approach.Â
There was no one at the front desk. The reception area was lit only by the green blue light coming from an enormous fishtank that didnât seem to have any fish in it. As I approached the counter, I noticed someone had left the key to my room out for me, next to a scrap of paper bearing the wifi password. I picked up the key, old and brass, then watched the fishtank for a second, before turning around and experiencing heart failure.Â
A very old woman with wiry black hair was standing there in her nightgown, arms crossed and frowning at me. She didnât apologize for nearly sending me to my grave.Â
âIâm up. I can check you in properly,â she said, shuffling past me. âIâm Kimmy, but you can call me Miss Kimmy. You got ID?âÂ
I dug it out of my wallet while she opened a dusty guest book.Â
âThe reservation is for Julien True,â I said.Â
Miss Kimmy glanced at the ID I had just handed her.Â
âThatâs not what this says.â
âI know. Itâs a stage name,â I admitted, âeverything else is correct.â
She raised an eyebrow to herself, but didnât ask any more questions.Â
âNow listen,â she said finally, shutting the guest book with a snap. âIâll be honest, thereâs not much to do around here. Thereâs a bus runs to the state forest during the day, and the beach isnât going anywhere. If youâre hungry thatâs too bad for the most part, unless you feel like walking down to Mortonâs.â
âIs that the weird looking building? One way windows?â
âThatâs the one. Midnight Mortonâs, never closes. This late at night youâve got Lin at the counter, nice girl.âÂ
I donât know what I would have called Lin, but it probably wasnât ânice girlâ.
âThanks,â I said, glancing around for the hallway that led to my room.
I bid Miss Kimmy goodnight and lugged my things to Room 7, at the very end of the dark hall. Inside was simple, but stunningly clean, which I had in no way expected. The bed had a sunken spot in the middle, and there were a lot of paintings of tropical fish on the walls. Home sweet home. I changed into pajamas, and took a huge swig of chocolate milk before glancing at my duffel, still full of equipment.Â
It could wait. I was exhausted, sweaty, and more alone than I had ever been in my entire life.Â
3. Welcome to my grocery store how may I assist you.
L I N
âI want to drop out of high school,â said Roach.Â
We were sprawled out on separate tartan sofas, both angled towards the ancient television. It was after midnight, and the only light in the room was coming from the nature channel.
âNo you donât,â I said. âYouâre not even in high school.â
Roach was a weird little girl. Eleven years old, she wore oversized thrift store t-shirts, and big chunky glasses, and cut her own hair. I loved her the most in this world.
âYeah, but when I get there, I want to drop out. You did.â
I sighed.Â
âYouâre smarter than me. You have to finish school and work in a laboratory anywhere but here. Those are the rules.âÂ
Roach crossed and uncrossed her skinny legs without arguing. I knew she just wanted to hear me say she was smart.Â
We continued to watch the nature channel in silence. A documentary on the arctic ocean was playing, which I found devastatingly boring, but Roach was clearly glued to. I could hear dad snoring upstairs, a pleasant sort of nightly white noise, and tuned out completely until Roach clapped an inch from my face.Â
âJeez,â I started, pushing her hands away.
âYou were way out there. Itâs freaky.â
I had been practicing my zone out since I was Roachâs age. On my best day, I could have an entire conversation without hearing one word the other person said. Call it a life skill.
âYouâre doing it again!â said Roach. âDonât you have work soon?âÂ
That snapped me out of it. I looked at my watch.Â
âOh, yeah. Thank you.âÂ
I rolled off the couch as Roach sat back down with a huff. The arctic documentary was ending, and she picked up the changer to scroll through a long list of similar recordings. Roach loved animals, all of them, even fish that ate your insides, and grubs, and parasitic worms. Especially parasitic worms.Â
âDonât stay up too late okay?â I said, tugging gently on her massive ponytail. Roach got dadâs curly, reddish brown hair. I got momâs.
âMmhm.â
I glanced in the hall mirror to see if there was any food on my shirt. Then I stepped into the mosquito ridden, muggy Florida night, and headed to my shift.
***
You might be thinking: where does a seventeen year old high school dropout work after midnight? And the thrilling answer is: the grocery store, sort of.
You might be thinking: what?Â
But thatâs Mortonâs.Â
The sliding doors opened smoothly for me upon arrival, which was always a good omen. I straightened the newsstand and went to look for Barry.
My manager, a small, Dominican man who loved to party, was in the produce section with a woman I assumed was his latest girlfriend. He was chucking the moldiest vegetables into an open trashcan.
âOur fresh produce is a travesty,â I said. âWhen was the last time someone bought an eggplant here?â
âIâm thinking of moving the veg,â said Barry, âthey donât like the energy in this corner.â
Barry was constantly moving things around the small labyrinth that was Mortonâs. At least once a month he would take an hour long stroll from shelf to shelf, while I wrote down what was going where. I made a new map of the store for every big move.
âWhat are you guys up to tonight?â I asked, as Barry followed me to the register, bag of moldy vegetables in hand.
âDancing,â said his date, with an endearing round of jazz hands, as Barry broke into a stationary samba while he gave me a list of stuff to work on. He treated me to his own enthusiastic jazz hands, and a few notes of a Juan Luis Guerra song as he sambaâd in the direction of the door. As it swung shut behind them, I let the intense silence of Morton's wash over me. The fluorescent lights hummed gently. The food sat well behaved in slightly crooked rows. I turned my brain down to its lowest setting, and consulted my list.

For the character asks: Jon, Peter Lukas, Annabelle Cane? (giving multiple suggestions so you can pick one in case you get the same character twice in different asks)
very kind of you to assume i get many asks :') THANKS ill do all of them u_u
[Send me a character and i'll tell you...]
(under the cut bc i love talking and this got long lmao)
Jon
First impression
he's a uptight prick with obvious favoritism for sasha and tim and i love him so! much!!!!!!
Impression now
my poor little mew mew hm................I've got a complicated relationship w/ jon bc i love him a lot, but i loved s1 him the most, and literally everything else just makes me really, brutally, sad ;_; The way he tries so desperately to cling to his humanity and how other characters just call him by the title imposed to him makes me wanna cry
...also he just cares so much ;_; i cry
Favorite moment
probably his interactions with georgie at the beginning of season 3!!! From s5 id say when he killed not!sasha, it felt vindictive Ăš_Ăş
Idea for a story
Dhfhdh im p basic when it comes to him ngl, either jon/tim/sasha friends to lovers or jon and desolation!tim or *something*!sasha trying to stay as human as possible, together đ (or just any of them living and coping together in s4 n s5)
Unpopular opinion
Im just not a fan of monster jon, at all! He's not the type of character that i enjoy seeing having a corruption arc unfortunately!! It just hurts!!! (and this Is from someone that Loves corruption arcs!!!)
Also i really hate moth jon imagery??? For not particular reason, moths are pretty, but i still hate it u_u AND THE ASSOCIATION OF GREEN W/ JON (or the beholding in general!) I CANNOT STAND IT!! i know its bc of the tma logo but guess what! Its wrong! Purple jon rights!!!
ALSO ALSO the so called pining he had for martin just.... didnt felt like that at all! i have Many feelings abt this!
Favorite relationship
either georgie in s3, or sasha!!! i love how he always praises sasha in her research in s1 and even thought he's at his driest & sharp Trying-To-Project-Professionalism-And-Skepticism she still rolls into his office, interrupts him mid statement to banter w/ him abt pronunciation n stuff and its just Normal, like that speaks volumes of how comfortable they felt around each other! they were friends gdi! the moment he realizes she died and then everytime the not!them mocks him w/ her death makes me wanna break smth q_q
im not even gonna mention tim bc even though i love their relationship It đ makes međ very đ sad đ
non shippy and also staying strictly canon, i love his relationship with melanie!
Favorite headcanon
sometimes i think abt that one hc that hes really good with arcade games bc he lived near the coast and i smile bc thats cute :) also hes a trans man đđđ¤đđ
Peter
First impression
Mystery evil captain man!!! Fog?? I LOVE him :)
Impression now
I STILL LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! Hes an asshole and has a lovely voice and smile and hes not, hes not Dumb but also he's far from the whooooa evil lonely influence he think he is (played like a cheap fiddle). He also makes me sad in ways i cannot and wont describe, and its a shame that he died cuz he was the best part of season 4 đ rip you beautiful bastard man i still miss you </3
Favorite moment
"It has blood on it" "thats Leitner's too :D". Also when martin was angry abt idk, breekon? Jon going into the coffin? Cant remember, but peter was like I said id protect the institute, that guys not my problem ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Idea for a story
dfgdfg i have..... a petermart story that dealt with the different flavor of loneliness they both had, half smut half genuine meta of both of them and theorization on the branching of an Entity & how their powers manifested in other people...
basically, peter thinks hes hot shit when it comes to loneliness but gets overwhelmed when martin accidentally projects his feelings abt *fic's plot stuff* on him, its fun stuff!
Unpopular opinion
people either paint him like an absolute devil or an incompetent idiot and hes neither of them! hes an asshole who loves being an asshole but far from the worst monster in the show and he tried to do a clever scheme TWICE on his life and 1. while it was established that any of the rituals wouldnt work singularly the Silence was still a pretty clever attempt if it weren't for gertrude! and 2. well... he tried to manipulate someone petty and formerly supposed to be a web avatar, again not his fault, cant call him stupid for trying dfgdfg
i Do think hes kinda pathetic in some sense considering his backstory, but more out of personal pity than anything else
Favorite relationship
Canonically speaking him and martin! The pull and push of them was The best thing about season 4! Peter being a quite dangerous avatar and martin, beautiful and scared and kinda feisty, confronting him every chance he gets, peter doing his best to manipulate him and martin letting him believe hes succeeding (even thought, he is, partly). They're fascinating characters to have side by side
Favorite headcanon
Partly canonically speaking him and mikaele salesa :) they do bets together! They're lonely sea men! What else could you possibly want?
Also non shippy i like thinking abt peter's and simon's relationship but thats entirely non canon âĄ
Diversity wins! The heir of the lonely is a gay man!
Also I think as every rich household(?) the lukases had many paintings and peter as a kid saw the ones w/ sailing ships and imagined sailing far far away from his family. That and seaman aesthetic fucks, which is why he always has the same vibe going on as an adult. He does Not know half of the things he'd need to know to have a ship though but hey he's rich and thats all he needs
Annabelle
First impression
thats a horrible psychological experiment they're making there D:
Impression now
THATS STILL A HORRIBLE EXPERIMENT AND ANNABELLE DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER............. idk! she makes me sad in the same way jon (and to a degree, peter) does! to be a living puppet for the thing that traumatized you as a kid and that later kinda killed you / is the only thing keeping you alive, to be devoted to it scrambling to believe in a higher reason for all of it to happen bc to believe otherwise is............. anyway. i love her, and i feel so so sorry for her
Favorite moment
her "maybe ive never been to the beach" at the end of ehr statement (that i fully believe its bullshit but, yknow, i love that she adds that), most of her convos with martin, her "i told you this might happen" "you did, you did" with mikaele
Idea for a story
i think a lot about her having conversations w/ either mikaele (platonically) or sasha (shippy) and their different points of views and treat with her making her doubt the web a bit
Unpopular opinion
listen, listen, i know it sounds like im woobifying her i Know it but reading the scraps of her story how can i Not feel sorry for her? when the story framed her very similar to jon? the supernatural childhood encounter that gave them arachnophobia and the subsequential joining with an Entity against her will? the fact that both the story and the fans treat her like a spider woman always sat very very bad to me, and the fact that the story itself always framed her like a villain (considering All The Other Characters that get the benefit of the doubt) was extremely disappointing
Favorite relationship
her and mikaele!!!!!!! wish we could have seen more scenes of just the two of them!!!!!! *singing* he is her daaaaaad, hes her dad! boogie boogie boogie! (ok no but like... their offscreen friendship is my favorite thing of season 5 ;_;)
Favorite headcanon
Sigh i dont know...i still think she's scared of spiders which make her current existence harder but thats a sadcanon :/ umm...... i love the idea of mikaele and her cooking together from time to time! Mikaele showing her some plates he used to eat as a kid as he talks stories about his life :) and she listens and sometimes tells a story of her own! its been so long since he had a quasy normal conversation! its weird yet nice!
#i say the same phrase many times but basically best parts of s4 are hands down peter. lonely!mart. peter and martin. melanie's arc. thats it#best parts of s5 are jon killing the not!them. annabelle. mikaele. annabelle & mikaele. annabelle and martin. thats it#dhfjfj sorry half of these are a bummer but you asked me... characters i have a complicated relationship with... i love the three of them s#statement ends#THANKS i love... talking

Why Lose Hope?- Chapter 2
Chapter 1 , Part 1 of the All the Little Things Seem so Insignificant Now Series
Jim ran from the transporter, his crew behind him as he raced to reach the bridge. The transporter itself being broken from the strain of trying to deliver seven people to another universe.Â
He slid in his chair and lent forwards as if it would bring him closer to Bones. They'd somehow managed to get an image on the two versions of him in that universe and had been watching them for the entire ten hours he'd been gone.Â
It was bittersweet watching him. Bones' smiles were sour and his movements freaked from the weight of the possibility he may never go home. Yet he carried on. He cared for Leonard, for the animals and crops all while telling tales of his universe, his ship all those miles away.
"Scotty, tell me you've got some good news,"
"Well, Captain, it's fixable but it'll take an hour minimum," The pain was obvious in his voice. "The most you could do is watch for the time being,"
"Thank you, Mr Scott,"Â
He knew what that meant for Bones, another year until he could see anyone he loved again. Although he had spent the entire time with the other Leonard McCoy, perhaps he loved him? Did it count as self love when it was an alternate version of himself?
It had only been a few seconds for them, but when he looked back at the screen,a week had already passed. Spock had done the calculations, a year for them is an hour on the ship, a month is five minutes and one and a quarter minutes was a week.
Leo, their Bones, was sitting on the porch covered in a blanket. He'd taken ill quickly, their hypotheses had been that a planet with worse technology than they had, even regressing back before the third world war, would be less equipped to handle severe illnesses.Â
Leonard was sitting on the other side of the table with half a scarf hanging off his knitting needles. He was talking about something to do with their farm when Leo broke the calm, coughing and spluttering.
"Here," He handed him a glass of water. "Take a nice long drink and you'll be fine,"
Leo did as he was told and lent back in his chair, face a little paler from the exertion of his remaining energy. The weather had changed rapidly in the time he'd been away, everywhere was blue skies and sunshine.
"How about I give you something to take your mind off things?" Leonard asked, only getting a grunt from Leo. "When did you meet your Jim?"
The crew all turned to face him. Uhura giving an amused glance, Spock something actually questioning and everyone else seemingly on the verge of rolling their eyes.
"When d'you meet yours?"
"It was 2255, I was working on a starbase somewhere, a medicine focused one, and I rush over to see a young man, six years younger than me, trying to escape with an IV line in, bandages on, nasal cannula and osteocalcium cream on his legs. He was also on the verge of passing out and was politely yelling at the guard to let him leave," He looked at Leo. "That was when I met James T. Kirk,"
"Sounds pretty on brand for him," Jim tried not to be hurt by that statement, even if he knew it was true.
"I saw him pretty much every day for about eight months, he was recovering from a serious injury involving radiation, an explosion and some angry octosquidarians. Became quite a good friend of mine even when he got transferred out of the ICU. He left, of course, everybody did on that starbase, yet we still managed to keep in touch and when he had his own ship and needed a CMO, well there was only one man for the job," He said and smiled to himself.
There was something about his age, his grey hair and wrinkles that made his smile more heartfelt. Perhaps it was the knowledge that he'd had more years with his Jim, more loving moments and annoying mishaps. He had nostalgia in his eyes as he sighed and turned to Leo.
"How'd'ya meet your Jim?"
"On a shuttle to Starfleet Academy, I was being forced out of my place in the bathroom-"
"Bathroom?"
"I have aviophobia," He nestled into the blankets further. "Jim's face was covered in blood, he'd been in a fight, and I was kind of drunk and spouted all the ways we could die on the thing and how my wife took everything. Then when we landed I found out he was in the same student apartment as me,"
"He was little shit most of the time, but he's also my best friend and the love of my life,"Â
He stopped and stared out for a moment. Jim was glad, he couldn't take it anymore. It had only been a few hours without him but he knew it had been so much longer for Bones.Â
Part of him wondered while they were waiting for the transporter modifications if he'd even love him anymore. Ten years could change a lot in a person, he would know. He went into town and could've easily fell in love with a local, but he didn't. He still loved him and he still loved Spock.
Speaking of which, the other Leonard asked their Bones another question, "When did you realise you loved your Spock?"
"You remember how I had to resurrect Jim?"
Leonard nodded.
"Well, with Spock being a scientist in multiple fields, he could help me in making the serum. He took my place when I was on the verge of collapse from fatigue or hunger or emotion, and I ain't told anyone this, but I meditated with him on the little time I had off and it actually helped,"Â
Jim smiled at Spock at the image of the two. Bones probably complained that it was useless for an overthinker like him or about the sitting positions being too convoluted for his old joints. Spock had suggested they all meditate together, one of the few couple activities Vulcans were known to do.Â
"And when Jim woke up and I couldn't handle the pressure of caring for him and the tabloids calling me Dr. Frankenstein and the looks from all the other doctors and pharmacists and every other medic in the hospital. So Spock listened as I ranted and cried and-" He stopped and took a few deep breaths. "And I realised, oh shit, I think I'm falling for him,"
"Well that's very romantic. When did you tell Jim?"Â
"There was a mission involving loss, they made us see supposed ghosts of people we lost and Spock was determined to say he wasn't affected. But Jim invited him over and after a few hours of awkward silences and denying the connection we were feeling, we admitted our feelings to each other,"
"How about you?" He said.
"Spock had a thing, a Vulcan thing that meant he had to go home-"
"Pon farr?"
Leonard nodded, "Things happened, to survive we had to fake Jim's death, Spock didn't know but when he realised he was alive they finally admitted their feelings for each other. Unfortunately for me I realised I loved the bastards," He carried on knitting with a little more ferocity. "It wasn't until we found a giant space amoeba and Spock won our 'Who's going to sacrifice themselves for the sake of science argument' that I realised I should've told him,"
He chuckled to himself, "Well, we managed to save him, of course, and I took that as a sign and told them they had my heart. And apart from a little bump after the five year mission, we ain't never looked back,"
Jim and Spock smiled at each other. They'd visited Ambassador Spock and willed him to tell them his stories like children on Pesach. About peaceful Sunday mornings when he'd meditate and they'd secretly watch their Leonard get ready for church. And about many trips to Vulcan where the Ambassador would show them off like trophy husbands.
They could tell he missed his Jim and Bones, a nostalgic look always distant in his eyes and his house filled with the various photos and videos he kept on his PADD when he went through the black hole.Â
At the time, they didn't understand what that felt like, to miss someone with every fibre of your soul. But after watching their Bones survive years and years alone without them, they realised how strangely comforting such an ache was.
The screen in front of them sped up as time drifted on. Relative as ever. Jim took a deep breath as Yeoman Rand handed everyone coffee and settled back in his chair for a long few hours.
I've managed to put a few headcanons of mine into this, like old married mcspirk's habit of Spock meditating, Bones getting ready for church and Jim smiling goofily as he watches his husband get dressed in his sunday best. Also I made up a few things for TOS Mckirk's meeting but the main idea I got from memory alpha is that Jim got hurt in his pre-captain days and met Bones. I would very much like to see this meeting somehow.
This fic will get weirder quite quickly and the schedule I think I might go with is one chapter in the farm universe, one in one of the crew's universe's, back to the farm universe and one in the other crew's universe.
And finally, I added Yeoman Rand! I'm very much in the camp of "I'll add all the recurring characters in tos into aos because someone (JJ Abrams) didn't" so I hope you enjoyed her cameo!

Meta: Road to Recovery
OKAY SO
Yesterday, @ littleblackqrow made this excellent post about Qrow hitting rock bottom in vol 6, [< thatâs a link to it, my blog isnât always great with identifying that] which breaks down:
Him being forced to literally face the consequences of his actions in regards to drinking.
Him not dealing with frustration or lack of direction well.
The rising tensions of his interpersonal relationships, people starting to lose patience with and call him on his bs, especially as he gets worse.
How important his relationship with Ruby is and not wanting to put that at risk.
Beautiful. The good stuff. Go read it if you havenât.
But I also present to you another nuance that affected his descent and ultimate decisions: a complete blowout identity crisis.Â
This got long so Iâm going to try and separate it into phases.
I. Loss of Identity
"I gave my life to you because you gave me a place in this world. I thought I was finally doing some good."Â
When Ozpinâs secret is revealed, Qrowâs reaction is to believe his entire purpose for the last 20+ years was working towards something that was never really a complete plan and probably doomed from the start. None of it mattered: The work STRQ put in. His choosing the opposite side of his own sister. Losing Summer. All the spying, fighting. The whole idea of having huntsman to begin with and all the effort he put in to be one of the best. All of the things he didnât do instead.
In one fell swoop he loses his whole identity.Â
On top of finding out one of his most trusted people not only kept secrets, but lied to him - someone heâs likely stood up for and defended with bared teeth and is now finding out those other people were right. On top of what is still coming that has to be faced and all the lives in danger.
Ruby is right to be worried he won't take it well. Who would?
II. Rock Bottom
It's why even the apathy scene where he knows he fucked up isn't enough. The whole situation still feels hopeless. He still feels empty. Oh, and let's add on finding out his own hero and inspiration was one of the ones who gave up and ran away.Â
[Aside: When they were riding in the cart and Maria said âespecially when some of you are clearly stronger alreadyâ Iâm pretty sure that included Qrow. Look at him through her eyes! A huntsman 40+ whoâs dedicated his whole life to the occupation, and even though itâs clearly taken a toll and he struggles, heâs still out there fighting the good fight to the bitter end like youâre supposed to!! She canât be only talking about the young ones being skilled.]
So rock bottom hits.
But.
But.
"If you think you can keep up with us kids, weâd be happy to have you."
Eventually we have the scene where Ruby stands up to him and offers him a new place at her side.  Sheâs too smart for her own good. Even if itâs subconscious and intuitively, she knows what he needs. Mariaâs still there, too. Still means something to him, and she reinforces this idea, coaxing him to make better choices:Â
"Guess you didn't give her enough credit either."
The seedâs been planted, but he's still too stuck in his own head and guilt to see it yet.Â
III. Breaking Down and Building Back Up
This finally culminates in his breakdown when the airship abduction plan starts falling apart:Â
âEvery choice I've ever made has led me here, and I've dragged you along with me. Oz, myself, the others... We're responsible for the mess the world's in now. I shouldn't have come, shouldn't have let any of you come... What was I thinking?!âÂ
Hopefully, this hits a little bit different now. Itâs not just semblance-based guilt or even recognizing his recent failings. Itâs everything crashing down around him. Literally every choice heâs made.
But then Ruby absolves him. [wow look at what can happen when you actually talk about stuff.] She steps up as her own person and a full on leader for the group, and finally, finally frees him from everything up until now; even this self-imposed intermediate job of being the responsible adult. And then once more reminds him of who he is and that there is still a fresh start to be his own person. She uses his full name for a reason.
âWe could still use Qrow Branwen on our side.â
So he chooses to join the fight. Because of course he does.Â
Heâs Qrow Branwen.Â
The huntsman who does whatâs right.
IV. Staying Sober
So when all is said and done, and theyâre winding down from the battle, and he goes for a drink, it isn't just not wanting to worry Ruby that stops him. He canât even see her face. [Although, saying "just don't go giving me heart attacks like that again" aloud does, I think, finally cause the immediate flash of insight / irony that Ruby probably feels the same way about him, and is definitely a factor]. It's not even him confronting or atoning for his actions.
No, this moment is him making the transition from being Oz's spy (when it was all fun and games and he could get away with stuff because he was that good and worked alone), to realizing that if he's going to take on this new role as a committed support for RWBY + ORNJ (in a deadly war with uncertain and changing tactics, against an unkillable being), then, I need to be sharper. I need to be more present. I need to be a better me.
This is him looking right down the mouth of his flask and deciding for himself to leave it in the past with Ozpin and his own former identity, and to instead move forward and grow alongside everyone else.
Yesterdayâs post made the beautiful observations of Rubyâs expressions during this scene, but letâs look at Qrow.
[Iâm busy having a personal crisis, donât touch me.]
[Well, I guess itâs okay.]
V. Bonus Round
And let me point out that once more, at the end of the battle, Maria reinforces him, this time by validating his performance in this new standby and support function. [Which is also probably closer to what he was used to being in STRQ, and more comfortable for him.]
âYou weren't half bad yourself today, Qrow.â
This is self indulgent but IâM ADDING IT ON BECAUSE THIS SCENE BLOWS MY MIND, OK!! ALL WITHIN 40 SECONDS WE SEE:
Qrow being validated.Â
Qrow talking about his feelings.
Qrow accepting a compliment with poise.Â
Qrow genuinely relaxing and smiling.
BECAUSE OF MARIA!!!!
VI. Some extra asides
1. I think this all is part of why we see such a spike of bird form in vol 6 as well. Besides just making more sense than other battles maybe, since itâs something at a cliffside and tall forest, it's all he has left at that point. Ozpin and prior orders lost his respect. He lost the group's respect. He's already given the kids all the information he has. He's barely feeling useful as a huntsman. But here [man, the hope and pride in his voice when he says "you're not the only one who can get a bird's eye view" !!], here is this one thing that's special that he can still do and offer that no one else in the group can!! So he relies on it a little more than he normally would just to feel worthwhile.
2. SEE SECTION V - CLOVER YOU ABSOLUTE DOLT. Qrowâs already demonstrated all the things youâre trying to say he needs to work on. HEâS ONLY DEFLECTING AND FLUSTERED BECAUSE ITâS YOU SAYING THE THINGS!!! I donât understand how the ship isnât approached more from this direction instead of wanting Clover to be that development for him, but I always tend to handle ships differently I guess.
3. Expanding on that, Clover helped him have a fresh start with a new person to start feeling out this new self, and maybe work through some baggage. But I really think Qrow and this decision is stronger than to relapse much, if any, over the loss of him. I don't think he blames himself as much as some seem to believe either (yet another separate post), but even if he ends up with a bunch of guilt in vol 8, going sober was never about any resolution of his semblance or friend troubles. BUT at the same time stress is still stress so we'll see.
I feel like Nora running out of breath, bless you if you stuck with this the whole way.
#rwby#qrow branwen#rwby meta#rwby volume 6#long post#* behind closed doors = ooc *#* gotta look inside / a little introspection = character development *#* hey don't get mad cause i'm right = headcanon *#* legends and stories; some of them true; some made up = meta *

hi again dia! happy first day of december â¤ď¸đ i wanted to ask you what, in your opinion, are the 5 most underrated dcoms? i remember you saying before that you've watched all of them so i'd love to hear your opinions đ - đ
đđ
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH secret santa you are so good! asking me all the best questions đ
okay so i literally had to make a list of all the dcoms i consider underrated and then narrow down a top 5. theres lots of dcoms that i love, but that i think got the right amount of attention and care (like lemonade mouth and the teen beach movies, for example), so this list just focuses on ones that deserved more hype for their quality level.
5. The Cheetah Girls: One World (2008)
okay so even as i type this i feel like a hypocrite. i have only watched this movie one time. BUT i can acknowledge that its one of the most criminally underrated dcoms ever, tons of people didnt watch it simply because raven wasnt in it. thats why i avoided it as a child, and i didnt get around to watching it until i did my big dcom binge in 2016. and it was so good. theres a really long post floating somewhere around tumblr full of specifics on why its actually the best cheetah girls movie (my favorite is the second one purely out of nostalgia), so to paraphrase some points from that post:
its a solid example of cultural appreciation, rather than appropriation, as the girls go and learn about bollywood and indian culture together
the indian characters arent treated like props or unimportant sides, they get their own agency and storylines that are important
the songs are good!!!
basically this movie was overlooked and slept on even though in terms of role modeling and social value, and just like the first two cheetah girls movies it was important and impactful.
4. Sharpayâs Fabulous Adventure (2011)
okay so as someone whos very neutral and occasionally negative-leaning towards the hsm franchise (mostly bc its overhyped and not really representative of all dcoms), i was pleasantly surprised by sharpays fabulous adventure. this is another one that i know lots of people skipped right over and dont hold with as much esteem as the main hsm franchise, and that doesnt sit right with me.
i do not agree with the âuwu sharpay was the real victim in hsmâ arguments bc in their efforts to look galaxy brained the people who say that overlook the fact that she was a rich white woman who used her power and status to exercise control over opportunities that should have been fairly and freely available for all; they were not âmaking a mockery of her theaterâ in the first movie, they were literally just kids who wanted to try out a new school activity that everyone was supposed to be allowed to participate in; and despite allegedly learning her lesson and singing weâre all in this together with everyone at the end of the first movie, she literally showed no growth in the second movie as she fostered an openly hostile environment and favored troy so heavily that it literally cost him his friends, all as part of yet another jealous plan to take things away from people who already have less than her. she was NOT the victim in the main franchise, and she did not seem to exhibit any growth or introspection either.
and that!!! is why sharpays fabulous adventure was so important. in focusing on sharpay as the main character, they finally had to make her likeable. they did this by showing actual real growth and putting her outside of her sphere of influence and control. we saw true vulnerability from her, instead of the basic ass âmean girl is sad bc shes actually just super insecureâ trope (cough cough radio rebel), and this opened us up to finally learn about and care about her character. throughout the movie we see her learn, from her love interests example, how to care for others and be considerate. she faces actual adversity and works through it, asking herself what she truly wants and what shes capable of. and in the end, when she finally has her big moment, weâre happy for her bc she worked hard to get there. she becomes a star through her own merit and determination, rather than through money and connections. this movie is not perfect by any means, but it is severely underrated for the amount of substance it adds to sharpays character.
3. The Swap (2016)
okay i know im gonna get shit for this but thats why its on this list!!! just like sharpays fabulous adventure, its not perfect and definitely misses the mark sometimes, but it deserves more attention and love for all the things it did get right!
the swap follows two kids who accidentally switch bodies because of their emotional attachment to their dead/absent parentsâ phones. and while i normally HATE the tv/movie trope of a dead parent being the only thing that builds quick sympathy for a young character, they definitely expanded well enough to where we could root for these kids even without the tragedy aspect. we see them go through their daily struggles and get a feel for their motivations as characters pretty well. as a body switching movie, we expect it to be all goofy and wacky and lighthearted, but it moves beyond that in unexpected ways.
the reason the swap is on this list is for its surprisingly thoughtful commentary on gender roles. its by no means a feminist masterpiece, and its not going to radicalize kids who watch it, but it conveys a subtle, heartfelt message that deserves more appreciation. the characters struggle with the concept of gender in a very accurate way for their age, making off-base comments and feeling trapped by the weight of expectations they cant quite put their finger on. we watch them feel both at odds with and relieved by the gender roles they are expected and allowed to perform in each others bodies, and one of the most interesting parts of the movie to me is their interactions with the other kids around them. as a result of their feeling out of place in each others environments, the kids inadvertently change each others friendships for the better by introducing new communication styles and brave authenticity.Â
the value of this movie is the subtle, but genuine way it shows the characters growing through being given the space to act in conflicting ways to their expected norms. ellie realizes that relationships dont have to be complex, confusing, and painful, and that its okay to not live up to appearances and images. jack learns that emotional expression is good, healthy, and especially essential to the grieving process. one of the most powerful scenes in the movie comes at the end where, after ellie confronts jacks dad in his body, jack returns as himself to a very heartfelt apology from his father for being too hard on him; the explicit message (âboys can cryâ) is paired with an open expression of love and appreciation for his kids that he didnt feel comfortable displaying until his son set an example through honest communication. this is such an empowering scene and overall an empowering movie for kids who may feel stuck in their expected roles, as it sets a positive example for having the courage to break the restrictive societal mold. for its overall message of the importance of introspection and emotional intelligence, the swap is extremely underrated.
2. Freaky Friday (2018)
this is my favorite dcom, and probably my favorite movie at this point. ive always assigned a lot of personal value to this movie (and i love every freaky friday in general), for the message of selfless familial love and understanding. i know i can get carried away talking about this topic; i got an anon ask MONTHS ago asking me about the freaky friday movies and i wrote a super super long detailed response that i never posted bc i didnt quite finish talking about the 2018 movie. and thats bc on a personal level, i cant adequately convey all the love i have for this movie. so i will try to keep this short.
first lets state the obvious: the reason people dont like this movie is bc its not the lindsay lohan version. and i get that, to an extent, bc i also love the 2003 version and its one of my ultimate comfort movies, and grew up watching it and ive seen it a billion times. i even watched it a couple days ago. but the nostalgia goggles that people have on from the early 2000s severely clouds their judgement of the wonderful 2018 remake.
yes, the 2018 version is dorky, overly simplistic plot wise, a bit stiff at times, and super cheesy like any dcom. the writing isnt 100% all the time. the narrative takes a couple confusing turns. the song biology probably shouldnt have been included. i understand this. but at the heart of it all, this movies value is love. and its edge over all the other freaky friday movies is the songs.
on a personal level, the movie speaks heavily to me. i cried very early into my first viewing of the movie bc i got to see dara renee, a dark-skinned, non-skinny actress, playing the mean popular girl on disney channel. that has never happened before. growing up, i saw the sharpays and all the other super thin white women get to be the âpopularâ girls on tv, and ultimately they were taken down in the end for being mean, but that doesnt change the fact that they were given power and status in the first place for being conventionally beautiful. so, watching dara renee strut around confidently and sing about being the queen bee at this high school got to me immediately. and in general, the supporting cast members of color really mean a lot to me in this movie. we get to see adam, an asian male love interest for the main character. we have a second interracial relationship in the movie with katherines marriage to mike. ellies best friend karl is hispanic. and we see these characters have depth and plot significance, we see them show love, care, and passion for the things they value. the brown faces in this movie are comforting to me personally. additionally, the loving, blended family dynamic is important to me as someone in a close-knit, affectionate step-family.
but on a more general level, this movie is underrated for its skillful musical storytelling and the way it conveys all kinds of love and appreciation. in true freaky friday fashion, we watch ellie and katherine stumble and misstep in their attempts to act like each other. its goofy and fun. but through it all, the music always captures the charactersâ intimate thoughts and feelings. the opening song gives us a meaningful view into ellie and katherines relationship and the fundamental misunderstandings that play a role in straining their connection. ellie sings about how she thinks her mom wants her to be perfect, and her katherine sings about all the wonderful traits she sees in her daughter and how she wants her to be more open and self assured. this is meaningful bc even as theyre mad at each other, the love comes through. the songs continue to bring on the emotional weight of the story, as ellie sings to her little brother about her feelings of hurt and abandonment in her fathers absence. the song âgoâ and its accompanying hunt scene always make me cry bc of the childlike wonder and sense of adventure that it brings. for the kids, its a coming of age, introspective song. for katherine who gets to participate in ellies body, its a reminder of youth and the rich, full life her daughter has ahead of her. she is overcome with excitement, both from getting to be a teenager again for a day, and from the realization that her daughter has a support network and passions that are all her own. today and evâry day, the second to last song, is the culmination of the lessons learned throughout the movie, a mother and daughters tearful commitment to each other to love, protect, and understand one another. the line âif today is every day, i will hold you and protect you, i wont let this thing affect youâ gets to me every time. even when things are hard and dont go according to plan, they still agree, in this moment, to be there for each other. and thats what all freaky friday stories are ultimately about.
freaky friday 2018 is a beautiful, inclusive, subversive display of familial love, sacrifice, and selflessness, and it is underrated and overlooked because of its more popular predecessor.
1. Let It Shine (2012)
this is another one of my favorite dcoms and movies in the whole world. unlike the other movies on this list, it is not the viewers themselves that contribute to the underrated-ness of this movie. disney severely under-promoted and under-hyped this movie in comparison to its other big musical franchises, and i will give you five guesses as to why, but youll only need one!
let it shine is the most beautifully, unapologetically black dcom in the whole collection. (i would put jump in! at a notable second in this category, but that one wasnt underrated). this movie was clearly crafted with care and consideration. little black kids got to see an entire dcom cast that represented them. the vernacular used in the script is still tailored mostly to white-favoring audiences, but with some relevant slang thrown in there. in short, the writers got away with the most blackness they were allowed to inject into a disney channel project.
the story centers on rap music and its underground community in atlanta, georgia. it portrays misconceptions surrounding rap, using a church setting as a catalyst for a very real debate surrounding a generational, mutlicultural conflict. this was not a âsafeâ movie for disney, given its emphasis on religious clashes with contemporary values. it lightly touches on issues of image policing within the black community (cyrusâs father talking about how âour boysâ are running around with sagging pants and âour girlsâ are straying away from god), which is a very real and pressing problem for black kids who feel the pressure (from all sides) of representing their whole race with their actions. its a fun, adorable story about being yourself and staying true to your art, but also a skillful representation of struggles unique to black and brown kids and children from religious backgrounds.
on top of crafting a fun, wholesome, thoughtful narrative and likeable protagonists, let it shine brought us what is in my opinion the BEST dcom soundtrack of all time. every single song is a bop. theyre fast, fun, and lyrically engaging. âme and youâ is my favorite disney channel song of all time due to its narrative significance; i will never forget my first time watching the movie and seeing that big reveal unfold onstage, as a conversation and a plot summary all wrapped into a song. the amount of thought and care that went into the music of this movie should have been rewarded with a level of attention on par with that of other musical dcoms.
if disney channel had simply cared about let it shine more, it couldve spanned franchises and sold songs the way that other musical dcoms have drawn in success. i would have loved for a sequel that explored and fleshed out cyrusâs neighborhood a little bit more, and maybe dipped into that underground scene they caught a glimpse of. i wanted a follow up on the changed church community once cyrusâs father started supporting his sons vision. i want so much more for these characters and this world than disney gave them in just one movie.
for its bold, unabashed representation of blackness and religion, subtle, nuanced presentation of race-specific issues, strong, likeable characters, and complex, thoughtful songs, let it shine is the most underrated dcom.
and because i made a full list before i started writing this post, here are some honorable mentions:
going to the mat (2004)
gotta kick it up! (2002)
tru confessions (2002)
dont look under the bed (1999)
invisible sister (2015)

Hey so I saw you mention top surgery and was curious. I was supposed to be having top surgery this summer but thatâs postponed. I was curious how that went with chronic pain? Iâm scared about the surgical binder with my fibro and back pain. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!! (You can answer privately if you prefer)
ive actually been meaning to write up a big post on this pretty much since i had top surgery but still haven't got around to it yet so I'm happy to talk about it lol. ill go over stuff now n still aim to do a more in depth post later when im on my laptop (but writing this now bc i tend to forget everything haha). ill stick to the more fibro / chronic illness specific stuff & stuff i wasnt expecting rather than rehashing everything. apologies im on mobile so i cant put this under a cut
firstly, im sorry ur surgery got postponed! i know that must be gutting, so i hope it gets rescheduled asap & the time until then passes easily for u â¤ď¸
I had double incision with free nipple grafts on the 4th of september 2019 with Mr Miles Berry at the london wellbeck hospital. i think he did an amazing job and can't recommend him enough for his work! i think the last pics i took of my chest were for tdov, and ill rb them after i post this for reference. i didnt have drains at any point of the surgery
for ppl with fibro, i was told that the pain after surgery either tends to trigger a flareup, or be really easily manageable, and it's hard to predict which it will be beforehand. its best to prepare for a flareup and be pleasently surprised if u dont get one. for me, i had a flareup that sucked but wasnt too bad as far as flareups go
you'll probably get given painkillers. take them regularly. it's easier to treat pain preemptively. if u don't get given them (no idea how it works outside of the uk) id say def get codine and paracetamol. u can't take ibuprofen for a while
i woke up from aneasthetic freezing cold + in a lot of pain. apparently most ppl dont need the full dose of morphine, but i did. after that it was a bit better. i was just So Goddamn Hungry literally it's all i was talking about
that night in hospital was probably one of the most uncomfortable in my life. you have to sleep sitting up for like blood reasons, so my back pain was quite bad bc of it. moving around a bit and adjusting pillows helped. if u have anything that normally helps ur back pain bring it with u to the hospital, & dont be afraid to ask the nurses for help with it (even if they can just adjust ur pillows for u). i couldnt rly sleep much but distraction helps. bring ur phone + headphones. i did a few ask memes when i couldnt sleep
the first week from surgery was rly tough, the first few days especially. this was bc i still had to sleep elevated for a few days and i couldnt get comfortable. i was too exhausted to do anything but couldn't sleep and it rly started to get me down. then i got some sleeping tablets (just nytol) and that helped so much. i literally cannot recommend it enough bc the not sleeping properly made everything hard (and like esp because with fibro the whole pain/fatigue/depression cycle is so real). once i started sleeping better recovery became a lot easier, and the tablets made the awkward sleeping positions more manageable. if i had to give only one bit of advice this would be it
on that note, ik everyone says this but do get a V pillow. it helps u adjust to sleeping on ur back and if u sleep on ur side normally it means u can like lean slightly sideways on it which makes it sm easier. also this isn't even top related but they make good back pillows when ur watching stuff in bed even now
get urself some video games (if ur into them) and easy entertainment shows lined up for when u wanna have them. recovering from major surgery makes ur fatigue even more pronounced so ur not going to be able to do all that much, but having light entertainment ready to go stops u getting as bored. its also a good excuse to finally play/watch the things you've been meaning to for a while
go outside when u can. if u have a garden just walk around it. it helps with a lot of stuff, and idk about u but i always forget how much it does. even just helping u sleep better if u get trapped in a fibro fatigued-but-can't-sleep cycle. and it goes so far helping u feel human in the first week
the first week is rly hard for a lot of ppl - its frustrating to have all that pain and exhaustion and not being able to wash or change the binder, and with the swelling and bandages under the binder it doesn't really feel like there's much change, which all sort of adds together. i keep going on about this week bc it helps to mentally prepare for it - there's no need to dread it, you just need to remind urself how worth it itll all be and that the rest of recovery is a lot better than the first part, and in time it won't have seemed that bad. big picture stuff
when u get the chest reveal, everything's better. i didnt stop smiling. and when u put the post op binder on afterwards, without all the bandaging, u like feel for the first time how much flatter u are??? and its amazing. even with the swelling. and then u get to shower and u feel human again and its great. (ik some ppl have their post ops/chest reveals much earlier than a week, but 5 days to a week is pretty standard in the uk. mine was 6 days i think)
more post op binder stuff: i got given 2. the first one i woke up in after the surgery and wasn't allowed to take off until my post op, and the second one i got given at my post op to change into after i showered. After that i alternated every few days. whatever u get given, if u get less than 2 i recommend getting another one so u can alternate them (if u want help sourcing them hmu. ive also still got mine i need to give away)
the post op binders were actually a lot easier to wear full time than normal binders. they were like more stretchy, and stretchy the full way round (bc they dont have the compression bit at the front). i used to sleep in my normal binder every time i slept with my ex, and that hurt like a motherfuck sometimes. the post op binder was much kinder to my ribs
i had to wear the post op binder full time, taking it off like once a day to shower n let my chest breathe (and massage my scars once i started that). some surgeons arent that strict abt wearing it that long, but it really helps swelling, & bc i didnt have drains it was rly important to stop fluid buildup. ik quite a few guys in my trans groups who stopped wearing their binder fairly early and then got quite a lot of swelling so i didn't want to risk it & i wore it for the full 6 weeks. at some point (icr when but maybe at 6 weeks? bc my post op was at 8 weeks bc he was on holiday) i didnt wear it during the day and only wore it at night
all in all the binder didnt bother me that much. it was more comfortable than my regular binders and i just kinda got on with it. it was annoying tho and i was glad when i could stop wearing it. for me the most annoying part was that it was a full length binder (i always wore half length before) and the riding up at the hips was rly irritating. i actually quite liked sleeping with it tho it was a pretty nice pressure stim ahah
some post op binders r more comfortable than others. if u have to buy ur own, i rly suggest going with a proper surgical one (they arent too hard to find second hand for free or cheap, again im happy to help here) bc they're kinder to chronic pain. i know that having a comfortable post op binder made it all a lot easier for me. there are also lots of alternatives w lots of price ranges tho, so that's not ur only option
ok i think thats everything right now! sorry its so long, but let me know if u have any questions!!
finally: before i got top ppl told me that its honestly life changing, and i didnt realise how true that would be. literally every single aspect of my life is at least partially better because of it, and most of them drastically so. I'm really excited for you to get that for yourself, and im wishing u all the best for it đ
#and like i said ill post a more complete version at some point when i have time and my laptop#but dw that one ill be able to put under a cut#asks#long post#top surgery#fibromyalgia#is there a tag for chronically ill trans ppl?? i feel like there should be the venn diagram is pretty chunky#medical //#also its 2am as im writinf this lmao sorry if it doesnt make sense
