I hear this talked about all the time on here, and I'd like to look into it.

Many sources on autism in adults repeat one another, so I will primarily use this one (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326841).

This beginning line of the article immediately draws my attention:

"Autism symptoms in adults may include difficulty making conversation, social anxiety, and limited interest in only a few activities."

To be brief, this description is applicable to Goemon. While the "social anxiety" cannot be verified other than his tendency for shyness, "difficulty making conversation" and "limited interest[s]" are present within Goemon's character. He is exceptionally quiet, speaks very formally even among friends, and has limited interests pertaining to being a samurai.

Thankfully, this site conveniently provides a list of autism criteria. I will be adding a point to every trait Goemon possesses.

"Common signs and symptoms of ASD [autism spectrum disorder] in adults can include:

difficulty making conversation (+ 1 )

difficulty making or maintaining close friendships (+ 1 )

discomfort during eye contact (+ 1 )

challenges with regulating emotions (+ 1 )

Out of the list of 19, Goemon reliably meets 10 traits [the list in actuality should be made smaller, as we have no way of knowing whether Goemon has social anxiety/trouble understanding facial expressions/the other internal traits].

Something that stuck out to me were the "discomfort during eye contact" and "challenges regulating emotions" points, because there is a scene in Lupin III: the First dealing with exactly this.

Goemon is made to leave behind Zantetsuken to allow a passage for his friends, and upon learning what he must do he explodes in anger. There is also a scene where the other characters question him, and he looks to the ground, looks back up quickly, and looks back to the ground.

Goemon also heavily relies on routine, with having a strict training schedule and wanting to know the specifics of a heist beforehand. There is a scene in Part 1 where Goemon storms off after Lupin is late to their meeting and Lupin announces Fujiko will now be joining their heist, and although it was written with misogynistic overtones it is autistic in nature; Goemon wants to meet at a set time, follow the preorganized plan/routine, and gets disproportionately angry towards seemingly small things.

There are many other scenes applicable to this diagnostic criteria, but I have to assume that you know a reasonable amount about Goemon to evaluate this yourself, otherwise we'd be here all day.

So, does Goemon have autism? I do not know for sure, as he isn't real. But it is very likely.

FURBY (2023) Glowing ears fromed from gradual absorpsion of antenna. More advanced communication and higher level of conciousness. Beak continues to shrink and eyes continue to enlargen.

FURBLETS (2023) Smaller subspecies, exchanged bioluminescence for higher range of motion. Can fold ears over body for protection.

Happy spooky month! Here's my obligatory Halloween profile picture. I'm a few days late, as usual. But I'll have the actual Halloween drawing(s) done in time... I hope.

Originally I wanted to draw Galacta Knight as a witch, with little eensy Meta here as his familiar. However I wasn't able to work out a witch design I was happy with, and that wasn't agonizing to draw with his horns. Still a fun little concept!! Maybe for a future Halloween...

I still wanted to do something magic related, and from that I got magician. It doesn't match the spooky vibe, but I think it's Halloween-ey enough!! It's the shitty costume bought the day before the Halloween party, how does it get more Halloween than that? And it still allowed me to have Meta as a stupid little creature, so really, I think I still won.

As a bonus, concept doodles of the magician ft. the inexplicably skimpily dressed assistant!

My fav thing about TAZ is that any aspect out of context sounds fucking bonkers.

Like, in the balance finale there's a scene in which Garfield (who is very specifically never described visually bc most people imagine him as like. The Lasagna Cat. Who in this universe is the most powerful warlock in the realm and also has a hobby of cloning people, which is great for the one character that got forced into haunting a mannequin) is summoned by an alien spaceship that runs on the power of friendship so he could beat up some flashing balls. In D&D.

And that was just. Such a normal scene in the narrative. No one blinked an eye. I would like to bow down to Griffins clear unmatched talent for making me feel such big emotions over ridiculous shit like a goddamned umbrella or a regular ass pair of jeans or the idea of a taco recipe.

I have never felt cuteness aggression to the level I feel whenever I see Damian (WFA) Wayne. That is a tiny guy, that is a feral kitten, he fits the same amount of terrifying aura that batman has in his 6'4 creature of darkness body in a tiny baby form, he's still learning to be a child and not a weapon, he's kind of an asshole but in that kinda sad way when you remember that he's like 10 and has blood on his hands.

My brain just hit an old hyperfixation (is this what it's called? I hope I used the word right) and oh dear am I losing my mind now. I need to write a story I think. About this one old guy. He's unhinged. There's so much information about him and yet not enough. I want to explore his character so much. He's definitely a criminal - at least he was one - and I'm 95% sure he can do actual real magic, and he's a musician and an artist and an actor and a magician and a philosopher and a traveler and a conman and so much more and also I think he's some kind of immortal. Maybe he just has a VERY long life. It's strongly implied he was a pirate at some point of his life. He started a cult by accident several times. My conspiracy theories about him include him being a secret god.

He's also a freaking round blue raven. Someone save me from my mind.
