NEW updated furby speculative evolution chart!!! :] click 2 zoom in or read under cut
SHELBY (2001) Evolving throughout Paleozoic Era, mainly Permian Period. ~275 MYA. Related to clams and horseshoe crabs. Lives on coasts.
FURBY (1998-9) First appeard in late Triassic period. ~220 MYA. Similar to early mammals like Morganucodon, with Lystosaurus-like beak and reptillian parietal eye (infared sensor). Lives on sandy beaches.
FURBY (2012) Like some birds, evolved to have brighter colors in response to tropical environment and abundance of species. Ears are made of cartilage, and larger eyes as a result of having no natural predators. (It's literally called Furby Island).
BOOM (2013) Different coat patterns evolve through selective mating. Holes in ears for wider range of hearing.
PARTY ROCKERS (2013) Experimental subspecies with differing beak, ear, and eye proportions. Honestly probably boardering on extinction.
EMOTOTRONIC (2005) Emerged during early Cretaceous period. ~105 MYA. Similar to Repenomamus in size in order to compete with dinosaurs. Thick, leathery skin replaces beak, and forms toenails for rougher terrain. Lives in lush tropical forests.
FUNKY (2006) A selection of Emoto-tronics that developed brighter colors, and tails developed from selective mating.
CONNECT (2016) Antenna forms for advanced communication. Beak size shrinks to compensate for larger eyes, ears, and increased brain size. Almost like aliens.
FURBY (2023) Glowing ears fromed from gradual absorpsion of antenna. More advanced communication and higher level of conciousness. Beak continues to shrink and eyes continue to enlargen.
FURBLETS (2023) Smaller subspecies, exchanged bioluminescence for higher range of motion. Can fold ears over body for protection.

Hello! <3 how are you?! I love what you write, could you place an order for me, about bi-han's head cannons, Johnny cage, smoke and reptile from mortal kombat 1 meeting and falling in love and conquering an autistic reader or one with asperger's, I'm very curious about that already I have Asperger's and curiosity kills me a lot.
Sorry it took so long to answer your ask. Had to do some research first.
Mk1 x Autistic! Reader
Ft: Sub-Zero, Smoke, Reptile, Johnny
Note: I appreciate all the asks and requests yall. <3
Sub-Zero
He was never good at understanding others either, so you 2 were the perfect match for each other.
He probably met you through Tomas or Kuai Liang and didn't talk to you at first. But as time passed, he realized that you are just as socially awkward as he was. So he plucked up the courage to start a conversation with you.
He fell in love with your strength; you can't tell me otherwise. It's what he looks for in a partner. He also found your silence endearing and comforting. And as you two grew closer, you eventually plucked up the courage to tell him about your autism.
He didn't react that much since that didn't change how he saw you. But he now understood why you were so quiet and socially awkward, so he tried to keep you away from situations like that so you don't feel uncomfortable.
He isn't very empathetic either, so you two can relate pretty well with each other. Most of your time is spent alone with each other in silence and just enjoying the comfortable silence.
Smoke
He's a pretty social person, so he had a little trouble understanding you and your quietness.
You both met when Liu Kang introduced you to them and he obviously tried to start a conversation with you, but sensing your awkwardness and discomfort he stopped. Over time though you started talking a little bit with him which made him very happy.
He probably fell in love with your determination. Since you don't talk much he doesn't really know much about your personality but he saw your determination during missions as clear as day.
When you told him about your diagnosis, he was very supportive and reassuring that he didn't see you any differently. But he definitely does plenty of research about your specific type of autism and does his best to understand.
He tries to have you avoid social situations since he doesn't want to see you uncomfortable. Plus, he prefers your company over anyone else's so it's a win-win in his book.
Reptile
He doesn't really go out of his way to talk with other people or attend social events, but that doesn't make him bad at it. In fact, he's actually quite good at socializing.
You both probably met through Ashrah and he didn't really see your awkwardness as odd, he thought it was normal for people to be quiet when they first meet.
But then over time, he saw you were still quite distant despite having known him for a while. So he took it upon himself to start a conversation with you.
He probably fell in love with your voice, at least when he does hear it. He thinks it's the most beautiful melody in the entire realm and wishes he would hear more of it, but he also doesn't know if it's weird to want to listen to someone's voice.
When you tell him of your condition, he's kind of confused. Poor boy doesn't know what Autism is, so you'll have to explain it to him. When he eventually does understand, he's very understanding. He usually talks for you in social settings but doesn't avoid them entirely since his species are social creatures.
Johnny
He is the most social out of all of them, he's constantly going out to events and talking with everyone in the area.
You both met through Raiden and he warned Johnny that you weren't much of a talker. That didn't stop him from starting a conversation immediately. That's when he really saw how socially awkward you were.
So he laid you off for a bit since he thought maybe you were too shy to speak with him, but the longer he knew you, the more he noticed something off about your behavior. So he does some research and finds out you most likely have autism.
So he keeps it to himself but still tries to engage in conversation with you. He fell in love with your shyness, 100%. And he doesn't even need to do anything to make you that way.
Eventually, you tell him you have autism and he tells you he already knew. So now that you were comfortable with telling him that, he thought that meant you two were a lot closer now. So he tends to let you stay at home while he continues to socialize as he usually does, but he does it a little less often so he can also spend time with you as well.

Arthur James Nichols
Alias, The Joker
Little is known about the personal life of Arthur James Nichols before his initial crime spree as The Joker, where he and a clown themed art collective he had formed displayed extreme acts of vandalism across Gotham City disparraging the rich and famous, coining the catchphrase "just smile" which was written next to scenes of property damage. Initially viewed as a mere nuisance, things heated up when bodies began turning up with smiles carved into their faces. Unbeknownst to the general public, The Joker’s art movement had evolved to become a violently extremist philosophical sect prioritizing the spread of chaos and radical individualism. The movement began to grow with each incident, with crimes ranging from unlicensed parades and irritating pranks to shootings and bomb threats. Inevitably, the Batman vigilante got involved and began investigating these incidents, eventually uncovering The Joker’s hideout in an abandoned apartment building populated with his most radicalized followers. Upon discovering him on the property, Batman apprehended the wanted man and delivered him to authorities. His identity discovered, Nichols denied responsibility in the planning or carrying out of any of the murders or terroristic acts committed by his followers. With insufficient evidence, authorities were forced to release Nichols, who would go on to conduct several TV interviews about his movement before shocking the world by shooting variety show host Ozzie Loomis dead during a live interview for his show "Prankster". After his arrest, Nichols would claim that he shot Loomis as an act of political performance art, decrying Loomis' support for authoritarian talking points. Many have suggested that his actual motivation was likely related to the fact that Loomis would frequently lampoon The Joker and his followers during segments of his program, or that he took issue with Loomis' similar "Prankster" persona. Nichols was charged with first degree murder for which he was deemed unfit to stand trial and was admitted to Arkham State Hospital. Upon admission, Nichols was diagnosed with several disorders, including Bipolar Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Impulse Control Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, and an extremely rare form of Mosaic Angelman Syndrome that causes uncontrollable fits of laughter and habitual smiling with very few of the condition's more debilitating qualities. Considered an important research subject, all appeals by the state for transfer to a maximum security prison have been denied. Upon causing a major security incident, Nichols and several other inmates have escaped and are thought to be hiding out in the shadows throughout the city's districts. Citizens are advised to exercise extreme caution while on the lookout for a lean caucasian male with light brown (possibly dyed green) hair, clown makeup tattooed onto his face, large crooked teeth, and green eyes standing 5'10 ft tall, likely dressed in colorful, tacky clothing.

moments I should have known I was autistic
This one is a little different bc it indirectly resulted in my first time flagging autism as a thing I might have
Covid lock down in 2020 was really hard for several reasons, mainly not having any friends and not being able to leave the house. But once I finished the school year and made some friends online... I never before nor after have had a year that was better for my mental health and creativity. I organize my art chronologically in my computer and 2020 still remains as the single most productive year for my art ever, by file count. The majority of progress I've made in developing my fictional worlds and stories was made during lockdown, both in 2020 and 2021 throughout my senior year, which was a hybrid remote so I only had to go in 2 days a week.
I spent maybe 30 mins to an hour a day on Instagram looking at crossposts from tumblr. Seeing that I was relating to a very high concentration of queer and autism posts was what first caused me to begin questioning whether I might be autistic. I grew up in a straight, conservative household. I'm a cis female. And yet I observed and said at one point in 2020 "I relate more to the experiences of an autistic gay man than I do to the experiences of anyone in my demographic". I would joke that maybe I'm autistic, but didn't really do any research until the next couple years when I hit college. This was also when I started thinking I had ADHD, but it was 2 years until I got my diagnosis for that.
Looking back it makes so much sense. The reason why I couldn't relate to other straight neurotypical girls is because I'm NOT neurotypical, and I AM attracted to women. (I do not label myself as bisexual or date women for personal & religious reasons, but I do accept that as part of myself and I don't try to force myself to change.) I had spent 17 years trying to fit in with the normal kids and yeah, it was never going to work because I wasn't normal no matter how much I thought I was.
The reason why lockdown was so productive for me creatively and why I felt so healthy and at peace was because I didn't have to leave my house, which meant I didn't have to mask. Even on occasional trips to the grocery store, the building was so empty that it was quiet. I never had to suffer through sensory overload. My house was clean (never before nor after lockdown has my family's home ever been clean enough for me to function in) meaning I could cook in thr kitchen and hang out on the floor or in the livingroom with no sensory problems.
Even once I went to my senior year of high school, it was only 2 days a week in-person. I wore my mask and didn't talk to anyone unless I had to. The food was awful and working with clay in the ceramics class was difficult on a sensory level but as long as it was wet I was fine. They had remote work for us to do on the 3 days home, but I just did it on school days and did art and played minecraft on the off days.
My mental health was abysmal at the start of lockdown, so of course I suffered plenty mentally throughout. But I made SO MUCH progress.
Now that the world has gone back to normal, I'm back to struggling. It's hard to hold down a job because every job available to me isoverestimating. Going to the grocery store is overstimulating because there are crowds of people there. The roads are full of traffic, strangers try to talk to me or wear heavy fragrances/have body odor and stand less than 6 ft away. I can't take 5 days a week to rest, I have to work to pay my bills. If I don't work, I spend those 5 days wondering where my next source of income is going to come from. I sleep way too much, or at least at all the wrong times, because of how stressed I am at the end of every day keeps me awake late into the morning, and then I overslept because I'm exhausted. I used to live in a rural area but now I live in the city, at an apartment complex where it's never fully quiet. (My roommates and i are touring houses this week! Fingers crossed!!).
It seems like I really am disabled in the context of my environment.
I can function OK when I'm in school with no other responsibilities. I can function OK when I have a job and no other responsibilities.
I can barely function, or not at all, if I have school AND a job.
I function best when I have minimal responsibilitie's to fulfill outside of what I enjoy doing. Because I'm disabled. And the covid lockdown was an illustration of how I could function in an accommodating environment.

You’re welcome for the asks, got some more for you :)
1: do they give each other piggy back rides?
2: how often do they hang out besides at school? Everyday, once a week, etc
3: when Jake performs a wedgie on a goon does he pull the waistband up or pulls the part of the underwear underneath the butt up? Also I can see him pulling the underwear down causing Chris to cover his eyes XD
4: do they plus mar’i have any mental issues besides PTSD? Like OCD, autism, etc…
5: what was Chris’s relationship like with Jon & Kon when he first joined the family?
6: what’s their favorite thing to do in December?
1. Oh most certainly they will, especially after long missions and patrol nights should either of them be exhausted. Despite Jake’s insistence and the few exceptions he’s been able to, majority of the time, Chris is the one carrying Jake like that. Jake doesn’t mind it too much though, he’s quite used to it and if anything it’s as comfortable as when his Big Sis and Uncle Tim(my) piggyback carry him
2. About Every Once a week, mainly at their respective central city parks if crime rates are relatively slow or maybe even if they have their allowances saved up, at their local theme park packed with massive roller coasters, arcade games and snack stalls. Usually they go there for testing new dares in said roller coasters or if new rides are built and open. Plus also, numerous ride photos they post later online because it’s always fun to look out how much either they freak out or even not when in a coaster train going at 75 mph down 189 ft.
3. He always aims for the waistband as he has the strength to successfully lift the crook with even a single arm without any fabric being ripped apart. Plus while that sounds funny, even Jake knows a bit better than going that far with pantsing crooks. That’s more or less actually something Lian as Speedy would do with her arrows, courtesy of being trained be her dad.
4. As explained, Chris can reasonably be diagnosed with C-PTSD and Anxiety Disorder due to his past with his birth Father and all the horrors he had bare witnessed to even prior to meeting Clark.
Now as for Mar’i, she herself has so far not displayed major symptoms of mental disorders but is nonetheless researching on the subject so she can properly understand to the best of her abilities how it works and what are the best treatments when those conditions are active, so that she can be a comforting presence for a prison suffering a mental breakdown.
Then there’s Jake. Prior to his duel with Zsasz, he already exhibited some symptoms of social anxiety, especially prominent almost every single start of a school year which has new teachers, new potential classmates to meet, new expectations and an overall feeling of a differing crowds to try blending into from before, making it difficult for him to feel like he fits in.
Post Zsasz, though no doubt he exhibits symptoms of PTSD, haunted in his mind more so by the gruesome marks and wounds those poor orphans in that orphanage he investigate were left in, no doubt in his mind in betting that they actively suffered being their lives end. The fact many of those slain orphans were around his age range with 8 years at youngest and 12 at oldest, he feels a sense of survivor’s guilt and shame in that he feels he could’ve saved them had he only known. Couple that with how sadistic, cruel and diabolical Zsasz himself was in their duel with each thrust, swipe and twisting of that blade onto his then powerless self at that very duel, he perfectly then understood what those orphans had felt and likely would’ve died the same exact way had it not been for the timely intervention of his allies that moment (whether it be Chris in the revised version or his family in the original version as seen in my fic ‘Broken Wings’).
5. With Jon, the then 4 year old was curious and quickly ecstatic of having a big brother to be around, like having a brand new friend. Chris was very first was a tad nervous around Jon, afraid to hurt or scare him away with his background and where he came from. But over the course of the first few weeks of staying over, Chris started clicking with Jon all too easily as they bonded with numerous brotherly things they did together, helped along by Clark being there for the both.
Then there’s Conner, who first emerged at least in the timeline around when Chris and Jon were 7 and 5 respectively in the aftermath of the emergence and defeat of Doomsday (Clark himself actually survived this encounter but he was left in critical condition and taken to a hospital. However the press had claimed of Superman being killed in the process and Clark had lost his powers for a good while. It was in the period between this Doomsday encounter and Clark’s powers being restored did Conner, Steel, Eradicator and Cyborg Superman arise to fill in for his role).
Conner had thought of Chris like someone that embodies the awkward nature of his relationship with Clark, in that Clark was so quick to take in this unrelated child yet with him there seems being some sort of rift from the get go. Conner can understand where that rift comes from but it still annoyed him a bit. He didn’t wanna break Chris and Jon’s hearts though so he accepts looking over them whenever Clark, Lois and Kara were extra busy.
During these times they stay with him, mainly at Martha and Pa’s place at Smallville, he finds a sort of kinship with the boys. The fact they look up to him as a big superhero and are awe of his own tales of hero work while being all the cool certainly helps. Sure he twitches every time they refer to him as ‘Superboy’ instead of ‘Superman’ but it’s the thought and appreciation that truly counts. It’s about weeks of doing this and having the bond firmly in place when Conner begins to think of maybe….making these two as cool as him one day, as he’ll show them the right way of being a superhero.
6. Since both Hamilton County and Bludhaven can get a good amount of snow fall and frozen lakes that are available for skating, making snow angels, building snow replicas of Haley and Krypto and even some hockey on said frozen lakes with their siblings are what I envision Chris and Jake doing in December, let alone the winter

Heya, it's me again, I was wondering if I could please have a Demon Slayer and a MHA Class 1B Match-Up, if that's cool with you?
While most of the info from the last Match-Up is going to be the same, I will be bringing in a more detailed version of what I said before, as well as bringing in new info.
I go with He/Him pronouns and I would consider myself to be a Heterosexual, I am around 6 FT tall with Brown hair and eyes, etc.
I would consider to be a huge fan of many things that I would be interested in, with the 2 main examples being Marvel and Sonic, while I am recently getting into the God of War franchise as of late with Ragnarök just coming out recently. One of my favorite hobbies has been making photo edited profiles, making 3D wallpapers, and most of all, watching YouTube for either research on something I'm interested in like the Downfalls of certain YouTubers or Histories of Video Games/Movies/TV Shows, or just because why not like YouTube playthroughs, Try not to Laughs, etc.
I still do my best in terms of being an overall kind person, I'm honestly not really the greatest in communication due to my Autism, but I keep on trying to be a better person, as one of my goals in life is to still be the best person I can be, despite all the flaws I do have, like being lazy (and honestly, not really as stubborn as I used to be, so I am at least making progress) and can mistake things from time to time, I still, at least, try to be a better person for my friends and family.
That's pretty much it with the updated info, I hope you have a nice day and remember to drink water as your health is very important!
Hello again Mason! I can absolutely do another matchup for you. Thank you for your request! Sorry they're a bit shorter than usual; the people I've matched you with are more background characters so I dont know their personalities quite as well as other characters. Let's get into it!
In Demon Slayer I match you with...
You two would be a pretty quiet couple in both social and private situations but your personalities work well together.
Once Tanjiro helps Kanao realise that she can make her own decisions, she would rely on you a lot in her recovery.
I think she would be an avid YouTube watcher in a modern AU so time spent together watching your favourite channels would be a must.
Her favourite thing about you is your desire to become the best person you can. She appreciates that so much and she's definitely going to try and help you with that as much as she can.
You can both learn and grow as people together.
In Class 1B in My Hero Academia I match you with...
It was pretty close between Kodai and Pony Tsunotori but I feel like you would get along better overall with Kodai.
Another quiet one so that means time spent together will be pretty laid back, much like with Kanao.
Even if Kodai seems quiet to the point of cold sometimes, she does truly care about those that matter to her
I feel like if you get along well with Kodai, you'll get along well with the rest of 1B. Kendo will make sure to keep Monoma in line.
I feel like Kodai would enjoy watching you work on your 3D wallpapers. She'd find the process interesting.

[ ID: Various screenshots of The Guardian article titled "'An explosion:' What is behind the rise in [highlighted] girls [end highlight] questioning their gender identity?" Parts of the article have been highlighted by boygirljaden for emphasis.
The screenshots of the article read as follows:
"As the NHS reviews gender refferels, parents, clinicians and young people reveal the social, medical and emotional challenges they face. by Amelia Gentleman."
"'In the past few years, it has become an [highlighted] explosion [end]. Many of us feel confused by what has happened, and it's often hard to talk about it with colleagues,' said London-based psychiatrist working in a child and adolescent mental health unit, who has been a consultant for the past 17 years."
"The psychiatrist added: 'Often those [highlighted] girls [end] are children who are going through normal identity and developmental problems of adolescence and [highlighted] finding a solution for themselves in this way [end].'"
"Increased awareness may well be a factor. But most of the research in this field has been based on predominantly birth-registered males - not [highlighted] females [end].
"The Cass report explained that [highlighted] relatively little was known [end] about the gender dysphoria in [highlighted] girls [end], or the outcomes for those who retrieved treatment."
"Possible influences they cite include [highlighted] childhood bullying, sexual harassment and abuse [end] and the [highlighted] hyper-sexualisation of society, [end] or a child's early understanding of [highlighted] sexism, [end] making them feel it may be easier to live as a man than as a woman.
"Some believe the [highlighted] extended isolation [end] children experienced during Covid is relevant (for example, Google searches for 'top surgery,' double mastectomies, soared during this period)."
"But her views on social, medical and surgical transition evolved as she did more research. She said no when her child asked to speed up the process by going private, which would have allowed [highlighted] them [end] to start puberty blockers.
"'My [highlighted] daughter [end] has [highlighted] barely spoken to me for three years [end] because I haven't continued with the referral process. [Highlighted] Parents are in a very difficult position [end].'"
"Two years ago, a [highlighted] grassroots support group [end] started campaigning for [highlighted] 'evidence-based care' [end]. Called [highlighted] Bayswater Support, [end] it now represents the parents of about 500 trans-identified adolescents - and its membership is growing rapidly.
"The group says around 70 % of the children it represents were registered female at birth; 80 % experienced bullying prior to identifying as trans and more than [highlighted] 50 % had come out as lesbian, gay or bisexual [end]."
"A spokesperson said: 'Our members commonly described their child's trans identity as overshadowing factors such as [highlighted] poor mental health, neurodevelopmental conditions [end] like autism and ADHD, social factors like [highlighted] bullying [end] and [highlighted] not fitting in [end] with their peer group, emerging [highlighted] same-sex attraction [end], serious [highlighted] safeguarding issues [end] - and often [highlighted] puberty [end] itself.'" End ID. ]
Article can be found here (12 ft Ladder used to get past paywall).
Horrific transphobia from the Guardian, which is basically the only actually left wing newspaper in Britain. I feel sick.
Misgendering right off the bat.
Launching straight in with conversion therapy rhetoric.
Infantilisation of transmascs… and saying that being trans is just a phase caused by struggles with puberty…
Not even trying to hide the transandrophobia here, just straight up calling transmascs girls. Also… there’s plenty of research? WTF are they on?
Or maybe… people are just trans.
Using they/them for someone whose pronouns are not they/them is still misgendering, by the way. Also, you’re not in a difficult position. It’s not that hard to love and support your own child. That’s your job as a parent, and you failed. I hope this woman’s son is okay.
The legitimising of Baywater Support Group is strange because… they have zero actual credibility. Also, the fact that a large number of transmascs are attracted to girls makes perfect sense - the vast majority of cis guys are also attracted to girls? Why are they acting like this is some kind of damning evidence against the existence of trans people?
Or maybe, maybe, people are… just trans. God, I hate TERF island.

History
Born into slavery, Qizulth was taught to hide his Force-sensitivity once it was discovered. His mother feared what would happen to him if it was found out, so he did what he could to keep quiet about it. From a young age, he was forced to work in awful working conditions, mining with little more than primitive tools. It caused him to develop breathing, back, and hand problems by the time he was about thirteen.
His overseers discovered his Force-sensitivity when he lashed out at one of them for threatening his mother after she’d fainted; he started choking one of them, nearly killing the man. He found himself separated from his mother and escorted to Korriban shortly thereafter. He was only about fifteen at the time.
Soon apprenticed to Zash, there was a time he became incredibly arrogant and power-hungry with his newfound freedom, killing just for the sake of feeling in control. Upon finding companionship with Talos and Ashara, however, he mellowed out some - though he has remained dramatic and over-confident to this day.
After the events with Thanaton and finding himself on the Dark Council, Qizulth chose to release the spirits bound to him due to he, himself, knowing how it felt to be enslaved. He joined the Council at only eighteen/nineteen-ish, and it often caused him to easily get on the other Councilors’ nerves due to his energy, sarcasm, and inability to sit through a meeting.
Come Shadow of Revan, he often butted heads with his newfound Republic allies. He didn’t like working with them, and dragged his feet at every opportunity. It wasn’t until Ziost that he got the reality check he needed and started cooperating - they were all after the same goal, after all.
After Ziost, Qizulth returned to Belsavis without informing anyone of his whereabouts, in the hopes of perhaps confiding in Ashaa, or finding something hidden within the prison’s walls, for help dealing with the Emperor. One wrong turn and a malfunctioning door left him trapped in a stasis chamber; to the rest of the galaxy, it seemed he’d disappeared without a trace.
Allies of Barsen’thor Synnda V’ehsz (the Condemned, who he’d taken the side of and aided during the prison break so many years before) later got into contact with the Jedi about a lead: The Ruin, the starship of Darth Nox that had gone missing with him, was on Belsavis. Hidden in a dense part of the jungle and in bad shape, one of them had stumbled across it while hunting. Talos, Andronikos, and a small group of Jedi and Sith, proceeded to search for him and eventually found Qizulth frozen in time, freeing him.
He became a member of the Alliance shortly thereafter. He and Synnda became close friends, often chatting about ancient artifacts and cultures. Throughout KOTFE/ET, he was an important member of the Alliance, though into Onslaught he returned to the Empire for a time, reclaiming his seat on the Council. However, he couldn’t find it in himself to stay, and fight against those he once called friends, so he left once again. He ended up joining the Alliance’s ancient research/archaeology team.

Hybrid Screaming about Rats for an HOUR
(Ft. Bonus dog symbolism as well)
I mean, this is going to be about Mummy and Tad(and Jeff). Buuut I am honestly taking it as an excuse to scream about rats. And their symbolism.
I'll also probably have an aside about Jeff as well, but honestly... Since @shields-and-depthgauges-oh-my done her wonderful art-- And I am not over how happy Mummy is to see rats, among other little details. Let's get to analysing!
Sooooo--
First off, I'm going to talk about rats. Because here's the thing. I have fancies. And this is my TOPIC to scream about. No but seriously, back when I was writing WHMS/Winds Howl, Mountains Stand, I gathered an honestly ridiculous amount of symbolism and research for ratties. Which has ultimately kind of being left to the wayside, aside a small mention/use for my old Danny Phantom OC's revival.
Which yeah...
We're not here to talk about Snitch though. As much as I do want to talk about them, the only thing they're relevant for right now is "why rats?" Which-- is only turgently connected to this. Because let me talk about the symbolism and how that impacts how I feel about rats, along with why I think that they're telling in terms of how each character reacted to them when first seeing them in the movie. Beyond the obvious of that one comic's view on things-- how you treat the lowest but--
Which, I actually have some things to say about how Tad's less grossed out than one might think and his reaction is more to Tiffany's... but now is NOT the place.
Meanwhile Mummy's reaction-- yeah. "What's wrong with them anyway?". This is something that maybe would be better expanded on later, but-- that's the common associations at play. I'm sure if I just put down the word-- Rat a million negative things would race through your head.
Dirty, diseased, traitor, thief, liar, coward, spineless, bringer of death, disarray, destructive, vermin, pest, opportunistic-- etc.
BUT
Again, I own fancies. And I'm not alone in owning fancy rats. And if there is one truth I know that's probably universal. A rat's home is only as dirty as you let it be. And for a few of those prior descriptors-- they actually couldn't be further from the truth. Sure some are still certainly true-- but those are also not their problem as much as it's the issue of the world around and what it's given.
Rats are--
Some of the greatest little pets I've owned.
They are loving, curious, inquisitive, creative, almost too creative when you're trying to keep them out of something and they keep getting around your obstacles. Loyal-- rats do not abandon those who're family. They come back--
Rats are fertile, and considering their hoarding behaviour-- well, they stock up, they prepare, they can be symbols of wealth, ambition, expansion, intelligence and resourcefulness. The underground world(which how relevant is that one to Mummy) And yeah-- but then they have some-- rather surprising symbolism that I just... wish I could find the old sites I got this all from. But most of them seem to have vanished into the nether...
But you know one of the big ones I have on my list that I just-- wish I could source back.
Divine Retribution
Which, probably has something to do with the Black Death/Plague-- but I don't know really. Still!
Rats-- NOW--
How does this all relate to Mummy and why did I want to mention that reaction? Circling back a little bit late but-- Misunderstandings.
And how that relates a bit to Autism, being on the spectrum, what we are-- how Mummy presents himself verses what his truth really is... Weeeell-- Rats actually have a lot of symbolism that I personally think is telling when we match Mummy up with them. Like-- he shows a lot of the same things that rats are associated with in terms of creativity, intelligence(although not in the same way that most people recognize, but the dead tongues, languages) And just generally-- there's a lot.
Like, I would also again, like to think about the loyalty Mummy shows and how he is. And there's something in the Sacrifice scene I'd love to grumble about here regarding that, and ever Tiffany there-- with how it looks like they've come closer in the interim-- not just Tad staying and I just--
But that's neither here nor there, because there's another main thing.
Secrets, Underground World, Stealth
Mummy. Also something about hiding in plain sight. I mean-- how often do you even get a glimpse-- of rats even when you know they're there. Or have an idea of it.
I mean, barring a few places... which as an aside, I want to talk back again to another rat role and place that I think we here in the West-English Countries don't appreciate or understand the MAGIC of quite enough-- India's Karni Mata Rat Temple.
Rats are reincarnations. They're part of that, life, death, rebirth. Rats have their own sacredness. And considering in movie 2 we see them as I guess-- guardians in a way of a temple-- well yeah. But all of this stuff is more of an aside really to the main point and reason I am just-- delighted that rats are Mummy's implied favourites. Because yeah-- they're very misunderstood creatures that live such a short time BUT--
Yeah-- impact and there is a lot of symbolism he shares with them when you bother to look at ALL of it and not just full stop at the dirty side of things. Rats are secret keepers and just-- good beans. Also survival.
NOW--
Let's talk another side of things. In terms of all the animal companions for a moment, but more specifically I want to talk a little bit about how Tad and Mummy look to relate to animals verses humans.
Which-- I know personally-- with my Autism-- yeah, animals are much, much easier to deal with than humans in MANY ways. You don't have to try and work out what someone means when they say something, or any of the other puzzles. It's all really straight forwards. And no need to mask yourself at all. Something I'm sure both Tad and Mummy can appreciate--
Even if it does appear that Mummy is an extrovert, I mean, look how eager he is to get out, interact with people. Which that verses masking-- wouldn't blame him for befriending rats in that case since they always come in a group. Large clans/families-- which yeah-- Ratatouille got that RIGHT.
Meanwhile we have... Tad who's... rather more complicated, but at the same time not and really gets me screaming at him-- because he needs to TRAIN THAT DOG!
LIKE HOW EXPENSIVE?!
I have-- a whole other rant on Jeff's poor to none training level. But-- it can actually be summed up in how Tad is with him in general. Which is... in terms of the psychology in his relationship with Jeff. Because listen here. I had dogs. I've had dogs, chickens, my rats. Befriended cats but never gotten the full honor of owning one.
But--
I actually have some things to say about this-- and it's almost a guilty admission really but... When it comes to dogs and training, I can almost kind of get it. Jeff's lack of training is probably twofold.
1) It's damn hard to train dogs when you can barely train yourself. And 2) it's got to do with how Tad seems to be with Jeff, seeing him as part of the family and as someone who gets him. Which as an oxymoron is a bit about respect--
Although, that's... well, also something to do with Autism and projecting and I should probably make a whole proper rant about that in its own time, along with the FULL "Train yer dog" rant. Which yeah... Sooo instead I'll tie this off with our favourite doggy symbolism and talk about that-- re Tadeo himself.
Let's be obvious here-- Dogs are-- very often associated with dumb loyalty. Loyal but stupid. I mean, at least in American media-- which... not entirely wrong sometimes. Dogs are incredibly loyal. But stupid-- NAH--
Dogs are not as stupid as people see to like to portray them as. It's usually the people around them who're stupid and not paying attention or really working with the dog. Which-- I want to talk a little about Tad in regards to that, but it's kind of hard, since I am... not quite as enthused about it as with the rat rant and Mummy.
BUT--
Protection is the key theme here. His promise-- which leads to his assistance, loyalty resourcefulness... but for all the traits that Tad does have-- I feel like arguably his dog relations are in those lessons he has yet to learn from our favourite "man's best friend"
Communication, obedience, community. Stuff that Tad could arguably improve in. Also I do feel like, there's also some of his big heartedness and the empathy that could be improved, but that's less a lack of as much as he's kind of pushing that down-- and well-- a whole other issue.
Which--
Almost circles back to the mess of Jeff's lack of training.
Which-- dogs are boundless and seek things to keep them occupied. And they also seek leadership, which-- interestingly there's how I watch and view Tad-- and his relationships and he's very much a lost puppy when you look at how he follows around Sara-- which I have deeper analysis on that but--
Tad's... not really a leader as much as he tries to fashion himself as one and play the Hero.
AS A QUICK ASIDE--
While I'm on dogs, I just want to quickly give a shout out to Freddy for making me think he really hits their high points in the small meaningful moments and hints to more beyond just "comic relief" ALSO, Shout out in general to these movies for allowing the "comic" to have their moments where you can glimpse more beyond just that.
Loyalty, protection, communication, sensory perception, assistance, resourcefulness--
In any case yeah!
BACK TO MY POINT--
...Animals are... much easier to relate to a lot of times in comparison to people... and we've repeatedly seen that Tadeo has issues with people. Which feels weird really when he's the protagonist. And while Mummy definitely speaks as an Extrovert.
Like-- He's so eager to get out and be himself--
Tad is... a lot more complicated. Like, I am really, really this close to going back into my usual MBTI analysis rant for him, but-- Tad very much doesn't seem to actively ever really go out and talk to people outside their circle unless necessary. Which heeeey--
Again... Dogs are there to help you with communication, talking to people. Which makes me wonder about the pets and movie 3--
Which-- aside possibly nods to some of the deeper lore with Anubis. Which, let's not forget that he(they?!), also tended to the scales where Ammut is but--
DOGS are all about communication. Which is Tad's BIG issue. And it's not just in regards to how I point out the potential of him just taking the promise seriously and not communicating that. But-- Tad's... not good at communicating clearly with anyone. And we're not just talking in terms of people communication, bad listening and not trusting what people say--
And let's be real, still has a bit of lying issues-- but well... who in the modern world doesn't--
BUT
More, I want to return to Jeff and think about how generally one of the rules in Dogs, canine behaviour issues is... Dogs naturally want to have a pecking order/leadership to follow. And if there isn't a clear one they dictate that they are thus the leader.
Which indicates that Tadeo-- isn't really communicating clearly with Jeff and proving himself a leader... Which heeeey-- kind of hope this becomes more of an issue in movie 3, I really, really want something that forces him to come to terms with at least some of his issues.
COMMUNICATE DAMNIT, TRUST YOUR COMPANIONS.
Mummy, Sara, reign in Jeff and see that he needs you to be steady just as much as you seem to need him. And Tad does need Jeff.
FUNNILY ENOUGH
There are three characters who've proven they can gain some of Jeff's "oh leader" vibes.
Belzoni-- who seems to be able to rally, or at least lead him around a bit, and is looked to by Jeff here-- like Jeff sticks by them...
WHERE JEFF IS ON THE TRAIN FEELS TELLING AS WELL.
Like really?! Why is he not by Tad? But instead, he's following Freddy around on the train. And, minutely following scenes, still following and looking to him a bit. Which interesting.
And most interestingly, from the Facebook shorts, teasers... I'd say for this, it's a walk that's starting "strong". Which indicates that Mummy is also slowly gaining ground with Jeff and communicating in terms of leadership(and no wonder, with his experience).
NOT THAT IT SURVIVED THE WHOLE WALK BUT--
Yeah.
Please let movie 3 have Tad coming to confront this. Please. USE THE SYMBOLS YOU HAVE!
#THybrid Jones#Tadeo Jones#Animals#Mummy(Tadeo Jones)#Tad(The Protagonist)#Animal Symbolism#Freddy Marquez#Rats#Dogs#Honestly feels like a long rant of just screaming#That might go in circles-- but eyy#ALSO DON'T WORRY#Sara will get her own symbols rant eventually#Communication#Autism#Speculation

WWNRD? Or, What Would Nurse Ratched Do? Ft. Nurse Ratched
Cannabis Refugee, Esq. Advertising / Media / Cultural Conversation, Alternative Treatment, Capitalistic Patriarchal Medicine, Family / Friends, Marijuana / Cannabis, Other Autoimmune Diseases, Radical Feminism
October 31, 2019
Nurse Ratched was a sadistic, evil bitch at the time and would be that and a dangerously out of touch political dinosaur now. Please do not do what she would do. If anything, ask yourself WWNRD and then do the opposite.
Speaking with my mother recently made me sympathize with young smartasses and activists who are just waiting for the elder generation — the out of touch Baby Boomers and the Baby Boomers’ parents and kids by this point — to give up the ghost and die. A “dinosaur” or political dinosaur is someone whose philosophy and worldview are obsolete and rooted in problematic values and circumstances of the distant past. For example, as a young activist in my teens and 20s I remember thinking and saying that the world would be a better place once those who grew up with unregulated environmental pollution and legal institutionalized racism, sexism etc. died off because their environmental unconcern, racism and sexism were so entrenched that they either didn’t realize, agree or care what they were doing and being was wrong.
Welp. After being sick my entire fucking life with an undiagnosed autoimmune disease, and going on 8 years with a diagnosed one, I am having these same thoughts now about the older generation of Western medical practitioners and others who were born, grew up and/or progenated in a low-population, relatively unpolluted pre-nuclear world where lifelong serious, untreatable, incurable and progressive disease existed only in very small numbers and therefore where older people seem to believe and act as if chronic illness did not and does not exist at all.
To be clear, chronic illness obviously did exist in our recent and distant past, for example, natural uranium deposits are known to cause acute and chronic radiation sickness to those who spend time around it. And humans have likely always been struck down with genetic and congenital maladies that might not have outright killed them. But old/er people seem to have lived their entire lives without chronic illness, including autoimmune and immune-mediated disease, front and center in their consciousness or as a part of their lived experience and this does make sense: before, say, the 1940s and 50s the worst industrial (man-made ionizing nuclear) pollutants had yet to be widely dispersed and contemporary Western medicine did not, because it could not, routinely pluck seriously ill and/or nonviable neonates, infants and others from the brink of merciful, natural deaths. Today, seriously ill children and others are rather forced to live for years, decades and lifetimes with serious illnesses that do not outright kill them, because Western medicine will not allow it, but which Western medicine has yet to figure out how to treat, relieve, or cure.
Having researched chronic illness, primarily autoimmune and immune-mediated disease for going on 8 years now, it seems to me that, in stark contrast to the life experience and worldview of older people, young people today generally are very aware that incurable and progressive chronic illness exists. Over and over I see that young people today, at least young Western people, well understand and accept the reality of chronic illness much more freely than older people, and the implications of that are extremely dark. From what I can discern, this difference in worldview likely exists because young people are increasingly becoming seriously chronically ill themselves. Young people understand and accept the material reality of chronic illness because experiencing it personally as individuals and in their peer group they have no choice but to accept it.
And over and over I see that older people are generally ignorant about issues of chronic illness and that they have not experienced it either individually or in their peer group. Frighteningly, instead of recognizing their blessed ignorance and trying to remedy it, older people think that their personal opinion based on outdated and second- and third-hand pseudo-knowledge about chronic illness matters or affects the outcome. It doesn’t, but unfortunately many medical professionals, healthcare policymakers, paid and unpaid caretakers and the like embrace an outdated worldview that no longer applies in our post-nuclear, Western world, and thus do not or cannot fully believe the self-reports of, or even contemporary peer-reviewed medical research addressing, the experiences and needs of seriously chronically ill.
A few weeks ago, a day and a half into a migraine (I’m getting 4 day migraines now, yay!) I panicked over my migraine-related inability to work on my small business, pursue benefits, or do virtually anything as I was completely and totally incapacitated. In what I can only describe as a misguided and ultimately futile cry for help, bedridden, I called my mother to update her about the situation, whereupon she made some statements of position that were so ignorant they verily shocked me. Laying in the dark with a sleep mask over my eyes, and a puke bucket near my bed, what I heard uttered from my mother’s lips was so egregiously out of touch with accepted thinking that it frankly terrified me.
Attempting to explain to her how and why she was wrong exhausted me. Knowing that she was moved not an inch by my description of my plight — instead smugly maintaining her “position” throughout as if she were engaging in a political debate rather than considering an emergency communique — enraged me.
For example, when I told my mom that I had a new diagnosis of High Functioning Autism, or HFA, she seemed unsurprised but said I wasn’t autistic as a child because I was always “bright.” Okay. In her mind, my HFA-consistent and completely obvious lifelong deficits in executive function — think literal and figurative “housekeeping” — and social competency (including feminine roleplaying which also includes both literal and figurative housekeeping, fuck me sideways) had nothing to do with autism and instead were just me being a lifelong asshole, lazy, and a bitch. She always believed that about me and she never hesitated to tell me about it. But at least I was bright. But now, because I’m no longer a practicing attorney and a “success” and instead am struggling to maintain any quality of life as a seriously ill person with limitations, and I can’t maintain an illusion of physical health anymore if I ever could, I’m a lifelong lazy asshole bitch and a freshly minted unbright/retard on top of it. Also, there is apparently such a thing as adult-onset autism. Because she says so.
Of course, my mother’s opinion about HFA is irrelevant and obsolete where HFA-literate people today know that high-functioning autism — the bright, non-retarded kind — is a bona fide thing, that particularly HFA females are often not diagnosed until late/r in life, and that “brightness” or intelligence is often a symptom/feature of HFA and not the antithesis of it. Autistic Tumblr — or any young autism or chronic illness related social media site — would tear that political dinosaur a new egg-hole if she dared say something so ignorant patently false about autistics on that platform. And so they probably should if they wanted to expend the energy and if they thought it would help.
Yes, I recently discovered the dark corner of the internet known as Autistic Tumblr: young people creating content, commentary and community from the shared perspective and lived experience that autism and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) including HFA is real and has real, material effects on people’s lives. Often, those effects have nothing to do with being low-functioning, or unbright. Which is not to say that I find Autistic or Chronic Illness Tumblr a particularly sane or comforting place to be. As I recently learned myself, Autistic Tumblr is an upsetting, dystopian place where young autistics put great effort into and emphasis on “normalizing” and “validating” terrible things that rightfully should never exist at all: autistic and chronic illness related things like melting down, stimming and managing chronic fatigue, chronic pain, chronic gut issues and the like, because although most of them are much younger than me, due to their autism and (likely) related physical and mental issues they are extremely ill and can barely get through their day.
In fact, upon hearing and considering these self-reports, one might even speculate that physical and mental pain is what likely drives autistics’ trademark weird, antisocial and self-absorbed behavior, where they are in fact “bright” enough to communicate online at the very least (and often have work, school and social commitments) but are exhausted from insomnia, chronic pain and ME/CFS; anorexic because they can’t eat anything; are having infantile hand-flapping meltdowns in public or breaking into inopportune episodes of “stimming” behavior to soothe themselves and they can’t deal with people giving them the side-eye at school and work on top of it. Autistic young people are living in hell, utter hell, judging from their self-reports. Considering that vast and increasing numbers of young people are autistic, it seems likely that extreme physical and mental distress is normal for many young people now. Young people much more than old people seem to know this. People who care to put in a modicum of research know this.
To further illustrate, when I was attempting to describe my current limitations to my mother she completely dismissed me and said that when it comes to disability, one is either totally disabled or not disabled at all. Lest I misunderstand what she meant by that, she spontaneously clarified her statement to mean that if I have limitations I should be in a “home” and if I don’t need to be in a “home” then there is no reason I can’t act as if I’m not disabled at all. In other words, despite being demonstrably, seriously ill, I “should” be able to act/function as if I’m perfectly fine. Because she says so.
Of course, as I understand it, invalid “homes” are largely a thing of the past, at least in this country, having literally gone the way of the dinosaur. And many sick and injured people are, in fact, demonstrably partially disabled, where they are able to perform some activities of daily living and perhaps some higher level activities like bookkeeping and such but not all; accessing “services” to help partially and even very disabled people to live as independently as possible — and not institutionalized — is the way it works now. Partially disabled does not equal totally disabled, you sadistic Nurse Ratched, you decrepit fossil, nor does partially disabled mean not disabled at all. She then proceeded to disagree with me — and contemporary peer reviewed medical research corroborating thousands of years of human history and shared experience — that cannabis is an effective anti-inflammatory and is particularly useful in inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s. According to her, and based on nothing, pot isn’t an effective or necessary medicine for any condition, and it’s “merely” an effective pain reliever (!) and therefore is not actually medicine at all. Because she said so.
This ignorant, sadistic ideological fossil maintains her nursing license and continues to “care for” actual patients including sick infants and children. Whatever “caring” means to her, and people like her: assholes who rely on frighteningly outdated material on which to form and support their opinions on contemporary medical and social issues, including contemporary chronic illness that for whatever reason is increasing in incidence and prevalence. And particularly in our post-nuclear, radioactively contaminated environment, including the toxic, autoimmune uterine environment in which many of us spend our first 3/4 of a year and which is known to cause autism. While information on Crohn’s, HFA, medical marijuana etc. is easily Googleable, and appears to be widely known by young people, apparently my 67 year old nurse mother is waiting for the news to break via Teletype or otherwise didn’t get the memo.
Of course, if I was a partially disabled man and had a wife (or mother) to perform all my executive function tasks (including bookkeeping services for my small business) for me, no one would even notice I was disabled. If I were male instead of female perhaps my life wouldn’t be falling apart at all, and certainly the prospect of committing me to a nonexistent/extinct 1940s era invalid home because I can’t wait in line or consistently do my business and personal taxes anymore would have never been raised at all.

Week 11
Monday marked the start of ‘United Against Bullying’ anti-bullying week. Today pupils came in in off socks for odd-sock day, to represent that we are all different but all the same. We watched some videos explaining this and the pupils all seemed involved and engaged in the sessions.
In English and Maths I have still been working with my focus groups and planning tasks for the 4 pupils I am working with. I am really enjoying getting to know these pupils really well and giving them tasks based on the strengths and weaknesses which I have gathered from them. I can see that my focus pupils are making great progress and am prepared differentiated sheets for the pupils - something which works really well for a small group but would be hard to apply to a class of 30 pupils!
In the afternoon on Monday, I taught History and this was probably my most challenging lesson to date. The class teacher confirmed before the lesson that Monday afternoon’s are the worst to teach as the class does not focus AT ALL. I am not sure if this is because they are still in weekend-mode? The kids did not want to focus on the lesson and with Mr S out of the classroom is was even more challenging trying to control the pupils on my lonesome. The pupils in the class also started to have an argument between themselves, causing some pupils to cry. This was very testing and ended up having to remove some pupil’s from the classroom to settle them down.
I was supposed to teach RE after History, but soon realised that this would not be a great time for RE! Instead, I took the class out to walk the Daily Mile and let them blow off some steam. I think, in future, Monday afternoons should consist of a fun activity e.g. an art lesson.
Tuesday was a MUCH better day. Mr S started by teaching the class and English lesson. On the whole, the class DESPISE English and regard it as their least favourite lesson, but despite this the whole class were well focused and worked hard throughout the lesson. This signified the start of a great day, as I was independently teaching Science and RE in the afternoon, and the class worked hard and behaved well throughout each of these. I didn’t need to move any pupils down on the behaviour triangle! Both lessons were completed on time and all activities were finished, meaning that I could take the class out for the Daily Mile.
I attended a staff meeting this week about autism and inclusion - something very important as we have a few autistic children in the class. This is definitely something which I will be doing some research on to see how best to cater lessons to children with different needs.
Thursday was a hectic day as the class had Assessment week sprung on to them. I team taught Maths with another PGCE student, LM and then in the afternoon I independently taught History. I really enjoyed the chance to team teach with LM as it was a chance to see techniques she uses in the classroom. I observed that instead of saying ‘settle down’ or ‘quiet down’, she would ‘shussessh’ the class instead, something which I saw worked well - will be using this!
History went well as I had planned quite a fun and interactive lesson, having the pupils start with designing an Art piece, and having a History/Art crossover. The pupil’s seemed engaged and well behaved throughout.
Friday was another assessment day and I am assisting FT, a girl in 6S who is SEN by reading the exam questions to her. She told me after the assessments that she found them a lot more manageable and easier to understand because I read her the questions. After the assessment, the whole class was very restless and Mr S thought that it would be better to skip the ‘Big Write’ today and instead let the class play maths games as a treat.
Working with a class where so many pupils are SEN or very low ability has taught me that it is very important to judge the mood of the class and then adapt the lesson accordingly. If the class is unfocused and unwilling to work, it seems to work much better by letting the class do the Daily Mile or a fun activity and then coming back to the harder work once they have had a break.

Is autism linked to the environment?
Well...yes. Research conducted by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) has concluded that autism is likely affected by environmental factors, as well as genetics obviously playing a major role (Autism). Autism, or autism spectrum disorders, is defined as a set of disorders in the brain that affect development, learning, communication, and social behaviors (Autism). Symptoms can be different, depending on the person but is diagnosed by difficulty with socializing and communicating, as well as repetitive behaviors. It can lead to other conditions such as epilepsy or insomnia (Autism). These disorders affect about 1 in 68 children (Autism).
Through research, it has been determined that some environmental factors can play a role in whether a child has an autism spectrum disorder. NIEHS research has found that a child’s exposure to air pollution increases the risk of autism (Autism). A study conducted in 2011 found that if a child lived within about 1,000 ft of a freeway, he/she was twice as likely as a child who lives further away from a freeway to develop autism (Autism). A study in 2013 confirmed these results and associated the air pollution from the traffic with an increased risk of autism (Autism). Yet, the exposure to air pollution is only part of the issue; some of the children were more at risk to the effects of air pollution due to their genetic makeup and these children were the most likely to develop autism (Autism).
The environment within the womb may also point to an increased risk of developing autism (Autism). Mothers that have a certain kind of antibodies could affect the brain development of the fetus, which may lead to autism (Autism). If the mother has diabetes or is obese, the child has an increased risk of developing autism. Infections may also increase risk (Autism). If mothers take prenatal vitamins, especially with folic acid, there is a decreased risk of developing autism (Autism).
Another concern environmentally is exposure to contaminants, the public being especially worried about mercury (Autism). The primary way we are exposed to mercury is through fish consumption, though this organic way has not been found to be associated with autism (Autism). It was found that children with autism did not have higher levels of blood mercury than those without (Autism). The NIEHS is also looking at other contaminants like BPA, heavy metals, flame retardants, and more, but is still conducting research on these.
