Does Oral Health Affect Overall Health?
Tumblr media
Oral health is an integral component of overall health, and the connection between the two has been the subject of extensive research and discussion. Historically, dentistry and medicine were considered separate fields, each addressing distinct aspects of health. However, contemporary research has uncovered a significant interrelation between oral health and overall health, with evidence demonstrating that the condition of the mouth can have profound effects on the entire body. This article explores the answer to the question “Does oral health affect overall health” and the relationship between oral health and overall health.

HEALTH SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST! PRIORITISING HEALTH BEFORE EVERYTHING ELSE TO LOOK GOOD + FEEL GOOD.
Tumblr media
People always leave out the basics when it comes to trying to improve their looks. Prioritising health is so important before going in and tempering with your body. Your base is what you work with and you can definitely level up with what you've got naturally.
DIET
Your diet also depends on what your goals are. Someone who wants to build muscle will obviously eat differently from someone who just eats relatively healthy. So identify what your goals are and work your meals around that.
Here are some videos to give you a better insight: HOW I LOSE FAT AND KEEP IT OFF MEANS, WORKOUTS + EVERYTHING ELSE PROTEIN EXPLAINED, STRENGTH, MUSCLES, FAT LOSS & ENDURANCE HOW METABOLISM WORKS
Diet not only makes you feel better from the inside, but it also reflects on your outside. Your skin is a huge display of how you eat.
Tumblr media
When you consume junk food, it can show up on your skin as breakouts or dullness. Your skin is one massive organ which soaks up everything put onto it and reflects everything you put inside your body. Fix the problem from the inside before getting confused about why your skincare routine isn't working.
FITNESS
Again, your fitness will differentiate from your goals. So work out your goals and make a plan around that. There are so many forms of fitness, some more intense than others and with different results. Working out in general is good for you, our bodies are meant to move. So even if you don't have a goal, staying active is always recommended.
HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT WORKOUT PLAN
THE BEST WAY TO GAIN MUSCLE, SCIENCE EXPLAINED SIMPLY
Low-intensity workouts:
Yoga: Focuses on flexibility, strength, and relaxation through various poses and breathing techniques.
Pilates: A low-impact exercise method that strengthens muscles, improves flexibility, and enhances posture.
Walking: Simple yet effective, walking is a great way to improve cardiovascular health and boost mood without high impact.
Swimming: Provides a full-body workout with minimal stress on joints, making it ideal for people with joint issues or injuries.
High-intensity workouts:
HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training): Alternates between short bursts of intense exercise and brief recovery periods to maximize calorie burn and improve cardiovascular fitness.
CrossFit: Combines elements of weightlifting, interval training, gymnastics, and other exercises to build strength, endurance, and overall fitness.
Sprinting: Short, explosive bursts of running at maximum effort, often performed in intervals for cardiovascular conditioning and leg muscle strength.
Circuit Training: Involves moving through a series of exercises targeting different muscle groups with minimal rest in between, combining strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
These are just a few examples, but there are plenty of other workout styles out there to explore depending on your preferences and fitness goals. Walking every day is just a simple way to stay toned.
SLEEP
Sleeping is important for rest and recovery after workouts and energy-consuming activities. Sleep is needed for the brain to function, mood regulation and performance + productivity. Lack of sleep deprives you of all of these things, so getting your beauty sleep is absolutely needed.
School-age children (6-13 years): 9-11 hours per day.
Teenagers (14-17 years): 8-10 hours per day.
Young adults (18-25 years): 7-9 hours per day.
Adults (26-64 years): 7-9 hours per day.
HYGIENE
Upkeeping good hygiene is always needed anyway. Making sure you are clean (smelling good is a plus). Make sure you always wash your hands and take daily showers to remove any dirt on your body (clean those feet and your back well, don't forget them!). Taking care of your oral health must not be forgotten. Oil pulling and brushing your tongue for a healthy mouth. Make sure your hair is also getting the attention to keep it as healthy as you possibly can make it (this also depends on diet). Doing the extra things like spending time on your nails (making sure there isn't that stuff underneath them), making them pretty.
BODY CARE ROUTINE | FOR SMOOTH & GLOWING SKIN, TREATING KERATOSIS PILARIS, SHOWER ROUTINE
ENVIRONMENT
Having a stress-free environment is obviously the best to thrive in. But clearly not even being lucky enough to live like that constantly. So make sure you have that space to be on your own and have some alone time to really recharge. Keeping your space clean for a clear mind. Surround yourself with like-minded people and really set boundaries for those who prey on your mental clarity (energy vampires). Spending time in nature is one of the best ways to detach, rest time should not equal spending time on your devices. Let go and truly let yourself decompress. Mental health will improve how you carry yourself.
EMBODY YOUR POTENTIAL.

pretty privilege in academia
'pretty privilege' is the idea that people who are perceived as more attractive often receive more opportunities, attention, and rewards compared to those who are considered less attractive. this concept is not limited to social settings but also especially extends to (in) academic environments.
in academia, research has shown that physically attractive students tend to receive higher grades because they are perceived as more intelligent, even when their actual performance does not differ significantly from their less attractive peers. this bias can affect everything from classroom interactions to evaluations and recommendations, potentially influencing a student's academic trajectory.
the underlying reason for this phenomenon is the "physical attractiveness stereotype," which assumes that attractive individuals possess positive qualities such as intelligence, sociability, and competence. it leads to preferential treatment and better opportunities for those who are deemed attractive.
it's important to be aware of this bias and strive to treat everyone fairly, regardless of their appearance. while we can't always control how others perceive us, we can make a conscious effort to judge people based on their abilities and contributions rather than their looks.
now, there is no benefit in ignoring it - because it simply will always exist. instead, you can choose to take advantage of it.
why people take advantage of pretty privilege:
increased opportunities: leveraging your attractiveness can open doors to more opportunities that might not be as easily accessible otherwise.
positive perceptions: attractive individuals are often perceived more favorably, which can lead to better treatment and more support from your peers and instructors.
enhanced confidence: knowing that you are perceived positively can boost your confidence, making you more likely to engage and participate actively in academic settings.
competitive edge: in highly competitive environments, any advantage can make a significant difference. taking advantage of pretty privilege can provide an edge over others.
but you should never only rely on your appearance to get you further in life - it is only to play the same game.
if you're interested in enhancing your appearance, here are some tips to help you feel more confident and attractive. it's important to remember that beauty is subjective and varies from person to person, and self-confidence plays a significant role in how others perceive you.
skincare: have a daily routine (cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin. remember to use products suited to your skin type.) and apply sunscreen daily.
hair care: regularly maintain your hair, keeping it clean, well-trimmed, and styled in a way that suits your face shape and personal style. use conditioner and hair masks to keep your hair healthy and shiny.
oral hygiene: brush and floss your teeth daily to maintain a bright smile and fresh breath. visit the dentist regularly.
dress well: wear clothes that fit well and flatter your body shape. choose outfits that reflect your personal style and make you feel confident. dress appropriately for different occasions.
accessories: use accessories like jewelry, watches, and scarves to add a touch of elegance and build your outfits. ensure accessories complement your overall look without overpowering it.
physical health: engage in regular physical activity to stay fit and healthy. exercise can improve your posture and boost your confidence. eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to support your health and appearance. drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and glowing.
attitude: a genuine smile can make you appear more approachable and attractive. maintain good posture, make eye contact, and use confident body language.
social skills: improve your communication skills to connect better with others. show genuine interest in others and practice empathy in your interactions. charisma and behavior can make or break appearing attractive.
remember! enhancing your appearance should be about making yourself feel good and confident, rather than solely seeking external validation. what you find attractive and enjoy should come before what other people like.

Eyeless Jack hcs +ej x toby ship
BTW MY HEAD CANNONS FROM OTHER POSTS DO NOT CARRY OVER SO FORGIVE ANY INCONSISTENCIES IF YOU'VE SEEN OTHER ONES.
No ship:
🩵ej is pretty chill and gets along fine with everyone. If he has a problem he will keep it to himself mostly. This makes him well liked by most other proxies.
🩵he is a huge stoner. Almost annoyingly so. He makes it his personality sometimes. He spends a lot of time on the front porch. When proxies come home from missions. they will sit with him and talk about it/ vent. He never truly feels sober anymore. He's tried some harder stuff but not much.
🩵toby wanted to try and ej guided him through the process. Toby didn't end up liking it as much. He preferred the gummies while ej mostly Vaped.
🩵he has a soft spot for the kids in the house. It's not uncommon to catch him at a tea party with Sally. Tutu and all.
🩵this man cannot keep a piece of technology alive. His phone is cracked to hell even though it's new. Some of the screen has even come off. He gets viruses all the time trying to pirate movies on his laptop. Even his fitbit is destroyed. He doesn't even have a working charger most of the time.
🩵he has had to sew an elastic loop in the back of his pants so they stay up and fit with his tail. He loathes belts.
🩵he has schizophrenia. He is half blind and what little he can see, he would rather not.
🩵he wants snakes but toby wants rats and they argue about which one to get all the time. Toby said they can't have both because the rat would eventually see the snake eat and that would be messed up. Ej argues that it's the circle of life and that snakes were much cooler anyways.
🩵his ears are more like bat ears. He can hear very well and it makes up for his bad eyesight.
Ej x toby ship hcs:
(sorry I'm a little feral)
🩵ej isn't naturally a lovey dovey person and toby is super awkward. Neither of them are all that experienced. Their relationship mostly consists of staring at each other blankly.
🩵their relationship is not a secret but they don't do pda so it took the other proxies a LONG time to find out. When they find out they make a huge deal about it. Nina finding out was a disaster.
🩵they both borderline on ace. Overall they don't think about sex much. It isn't important to the relationship. Nina sometimes jokes that they are just besties at this point. They ignore any comments about their relationship made by nina
🩵ej didn't take care of his hygiene/ grooming/ clothes nearly as much until he and toby started dating. He doesn't want toby to think he's gross or anything. Toby would never think that though.
(This one is a little sadder than the rest)
🩵he spends half of his day worrying about toby and the other half smoking. Toby's mental health is a tad more severe and ej worries a lot. He has seen toby during a manic episode and it scared him so much. Jack makes sure to check up on Toby regularly without making it obvious to the other proxies. Toby doesn't seem as self aware as Jack.
🩵one time they were caught cuddling on the couch and watching a movie and were teased so badly that they don't even hold hands outside their rooms. They weren't all that into pda to begin with tbh.
🩵they both love caring for each other. Brushing each other's hair, wrapping their injuries from missions, running baths, picking out clothes. Mundane acts of care go a long way.
🩵oral hygiene is very important considering EJ is a cannibal. Ej brushes four times a day, has breath mints, ect. Toby won't kiss him if his breath smells like organs.

In the last fic you said about the habit of sucking her thumb. Maybe you could do something of wanda and Nat trying different things to get her to stop, pacifiers, chewies, ect and end it how you want

With all of the trauma that you had gone through thus far, one thing that you clung to like a security blanket was the habit of sucking your thumb. Wanda saw this as it happened but she acknowledged that it was normal for children your age to take part in such a coping mechanism so she didn’t bother interrupting your actions until now. She wanted to give you other ways to draw comfort from so that you wouldn’t become dependent on the action for so long that you can’t break it when you begin to lose your baby teeth.
Natasha and Wanda brainstormed different strategies to help you break this habit, knowing it was important for her dental health and overall well-being. Their first attempt you could call the gentle approach. Together they agreed that the next time they saw you take part in the action they would try to talk you out of it.
The opportunity first presented itself to Natasha as she was sitting with you in the common room watching cartoons. She sat next to you, her voice filled with warmth and understanding. "Sweetie, sucking your thumb isn’t healthy.  We can work together to break this bad habit. How about we find a special toy or stuffed animal to cuddle with instead? Whenever you feel the urge to suck your thumb, you can hold onto your new friend."
You nodded, your eyes bright with enthusiasm. Together, you searched for the perfect companion—a fluffy teddy bear named Benny. You clutched Benny close, finding comfort in his soft embrace. Though the thumb-sucking lessened, it still lingered as a deeply ingrained habit.
Sometimes it happened without you even realizing it, and other times, well, you just couldn't help yourself. Whenever Wanda or Nat noticed you sucking your thumb, they gently reminded you to take it out and explained the reasons why it's important to stop. They spoke about how it could affect your teeth and shared stories of other children who successfully stopped thumb-sucking.
“Y/N, detka, come here,” Wanda cooed as she gently took your thumb from your mouth and cuddled you into her side, “Do you remember what Nat told you about sucking your thumb?”
You nodded, recalling your earlier interaction with Natasha, “Natty say, no good” you answered
Wanda confirmed your answer, “That’s right, what can you do instead of sucking your thumb?”
You thought long and hard trying to remember what Nat had suggested, “uhm- OH! BENNY!” You exclaimed as you scooted off of the couch and darted over to grab your cuddly stuffed bear and then return to Wanda. She couldn't help but smile at your excitement to substitute Benny for your bad habit.
Some days it wasn’t that easy though, you preferred sucking your thumb over any substitution that Nat and Wanda offered up. Despite Wanda and Nat's best efforts, there were times when you became particularly stubborn and refused to stop sucking on your thumb. They had tried other things like pacifiers and thumb guards, but eventually they always found you using your thumb instead.
One evening when Wanda and Nat sat down with you to have a calm conversation about the habit. They explained the reasons why it was important to stop and how it could affect her teeth and oral health as they had before. Their strategy was to help create awareness for you anytime you had fallen back on the habit. Nat had read in a parenting book that increasing the child's awareness of the habit can help them recognize when they do it unconsciously.
However, instead of listening attentively this time, you crossed your arms and stubbornly shook your head, "No, I no want stop," you declared defiantly with your thumb firmly pressed against the roof of your mouth.
Wanda exchanged a concerned glance with Nat, realizing that their usual techniques might not work this time. They knew they had to approach this situation differently, with a balance of firmness and understanding.
Wanda took a deep breath and knelt down to your level, gently taking both of your hands into her own. "Y/N, we understand that you enjoy sucking your thumb, but it's important for your teeth and overall health that we find a way to stop. We love you so much, and we want to help you grow up strong and healthy."
“NOO, MAMA!” you screeched as you ran away from both Wanda and Nat and headed up the stairs to your room, quickly scurrying under the covers to provide a barrier from eyesight when they inevitably would follow you into the room a few moments later.
The two women could tell that you were overtired and lashing out because of it. They debated whether the fight was worth it or if they should just let you sleep it off. In the end, they decided to give you time alone to cool off before they trailed upstairs behind you. Gently knocking at the door, they entered the room to find you passed out under the covers in the fetal position with your thumb in your mouth.
As adorable as they found you, It was time for them to come up with a new plan, instead of making you aware of the bad habit and hoping you would break it purely by recognizing it, or distraction. It was time to turn it into a game.
During breakfast the next morning, Wanda and Nat brought up your poor behavior the night before. It was important to them that you were aware of when your actions were inappropriate, and instead of scolding or grounding you, they simply spoke to you about it. It was a constructive conversation to help you learn that even though you feel tired, lashing out is not the proper way to handle things.
Of course, it’s expected at your age and they don’t fault you for it, but they know how smart and well-behaved you are typically. Wanda wanted to start nipping bad behavior in the bud as soon as it showed its face so that it didn’t end up spiraling out of control in the coming months.
"Y/N, we know change can be hard, and it's okay to feel unsure. But we believe in you, and we know you're capable of breaking this habit. Let's work together to find a solution that makes you feel comfortable." Nat said genuinely as the two of you chomped on pancakes.
Your expression softened as you looked into the caring eyes of Wanda and Nat. They had always been there for you, supporting you in every step of your journey. Slowly, you let out a sigh and nodded, signaling your willingness to explore alternatives. It’s not that you didn’t want to try for them, in fact, you have been, but bad habits are just so easy to fall back on.
Throughout breakfast, they explained a new system that they would implement. Wanda and Nat created a special "Thumb-Free" chart for you. Every day that you refrained from thumb-sucking, you would earn a star sticker. Once you collected a certain number of stars, you would receive a small reward or a special outing with Wanda and Nat. There would be different options of rewards that you could choose from and this made you excited for all the possibilities.  Through patience and understanding with you, Wanda and Nat helped you realize that breaking the habit was not about taking something away but instead, about gaining control and embracing new experiences.
In the weeks that followed, there were still moments of resistance, but Wanda and Nat continued to provide unwavering support. They reminded you of your own strength and encouraged you to persevere. With their love and patience, you slowly began to let go of the thumb-sucking habit, replacing it with healthier alternatives and finding comfort in their embrace.
It was a journey that required time, understanding, and a deep bond between the three of you. Through your collective efforts, they overcame your stubbornness and nurtured your growth and independence, reminding you that they would always be there to guide you through life's challenges with love and support.
As Wanda was organizing some books in the living room, she stumbled upon a stack of parenting books on the coffee table. Curiosity piqued, she picked one up and flipped through its pages. The book was filled with insights, advice, and practical tips for co-parenting.
Some of the pages were marked with highlighter and notes were written about your behavior in the margins. She immediately recognized this as Natasha’s handwriting. As Wanda delved deeper into the book, she couldn't help but feel a growing sense of admiration for Natasha. It wasn't just the fact that Natasha cared enough to educate herself on the intricacies of co-parenting, but also the realization that Natasha wanted to be the best guardian she could be for you.
A smile tugged at the corners of Wanda's lips as she thought about Natasha's dedication and the countless hours she must’ve spent studying those pages. She found it incredibly attractive to see someone so committed to their role as a co-parent, taking the time to understand and navigate the complexities of raising a child. Co-parent. Is that what they were? They hadn’t made it official but they sure were acting the roles.
In that moment, Wanda's heart swelled with affection for Natasha. She admired her friend's determination, compassion, and unwavering love for you. It made her see Natasha in a whole new light, awakening feelings that had been igniting more and more lately.
Unable to contain her excitement, Wanda hurriedly made her way to the kitchen, where she found Natasha preparing a snack for you. With a twinkle in her eyes, Wanda held the parenting book behind her back and teased, "Oh Nat, guess what I found?"
Natasha turned, curiosity evident in her eyes. "What is it, Wanda?"
Wanda grinned, her voice filled with affection. "I found these parenting books you've been reading. I had no idea you were so invested in co-parenting Y/N"
Natasha's cheeks flushed, a mix of surprise and sheepishness. "Oh, those... Yeah, I've been trying to gather as much knowledge as possible. I want to make sure we're doing everything we can for her.”
Wanda stepped closer, her gaze unwavering as she spoke slowly, "Natasha, your dedication to Y/N's well-being, your commitment to learning and growing as a co-parent—it's incredibly” attractive. She wanted to say it, but she swerved at the last second, “thoughtful” she blurted out and released eye contact as she internally scolded herself for almost going too far.
A moment of silence hung in the air as Natasha could tell that wasn’t the word she wanted to say. Figuring that the other word would be something along the lines of teasing, Natasha chose not to pry it out and instead took the compliment with a smile.

oral health
it's something we often overlook, but taking care of our teeth and gums is super important for our overall well-being. here are some simple tips to keep your smile bright and healthy:
brush twice a day: make sure to brush your teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. use a fluoride toothpaste and brush for at least two minutes each time to remove plaque and bacteria.
floss daily: don't forget to floss! flossing helps remove food particles and plaque from between your teeth and along the gumline, where your toothbrush can't reach.
rinse with mouthwash: using an antibacterial mouthwash can help kill germs and freshen your breath. swish it around in your mouth for 30 seconds after brushing and flossing.
eat a balanced diet: what you eat can impact your oral health. try to limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks, which can contribute to tooth decay and gum disease. instead, opt for healthy snacks like fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.
drink plenty of water: staying hydrated is important for your oral health too. water helps wash away food particles and bacteria, and it also helps stimulate saliva production, which neutralizes acids and protects your teeth.
visit your dentist regularly: don't skip your dental check-ups! seeing your dentist for regular cleanings and exams can help catch any issues early and prevent more serious problems down the road.
avoid tobacco: smoking and using other tobacco products can wreak havoc on your oral health, increasing your risk of gum disease, tooth decay, and oral cancer. if you smoke, consider quitting for the sake of your smile and your overall health.
remember, taking care of your teeth and gums is an investment in your long-term health and happiness. so make oral health a priority and keep smiling bright!

Oral Health
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keeping your teeth healthy is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health! If there is an infection or anything like that present in your mouth, it can carry the bacteria to the rest of your body. Also, keeping your teeth and gums healthy is an important part of long-lasting overall health. So, how do we keep our teeth and mouth healthy?
Your daily oral health routine should look like this:
Brush your teeth twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride.
Use a toothbrush that is suitable for your needs. If you have sensitive teeth, you should use a soft or extra soft toothbrush. If you can, an electric toothbrush is always recommended by dentists, as it can brush your teeth very efficiently without you needing to move it too much (you just kind of glide it over your teeth and let it do the brushing motion for you). But, a normal toothbrush is also fine, as long as you brush correctly.
Brushing correctly means using small circles around your teeth, making sure to brush the front and back (and don't forget your back teeth). Also, try to angle your brush towards your gums when you're brushing so they can get clean too.
Make sure to brush your tongue as well. Your tongue holds a lot of bacteria, so it's good to brush it at least once a day. Make sure you don't over brush it though, as it can break the skin and cut your tongue.
After brushing, make sure to floss once a day. It's better to floss twice a day after brushing, but once a day is the minimum for healthy teeth.
If you can, you should be getting your teeth checked by a dentist every six months, as they can advise you on what you should and shouldn't be doing. They also clean your teeth very thoroughly, so it's a good thing to do for your oral health. But, I understand that those appointments are expensive, especially if you are not covered by health insurance. So, once you have some money saved, it's a good idea to go get them checked when you can.
Now that you've got your routine, here's some tips to keep your teeth healthy throughout the day:
Drink a lot of water throughout the day
Avoid sugary drinks, energy drinks, and fruit juice (or any drink with a lot of fruit in it).
Limit your sugar intake overall and try to eat a balanced diet.
Never use your teeth as tools to open packets or anything like that. This can cause your teeth to chip or crack.
Limit your coffee and/or tea intake and make sure to drink some water afterwards to avoid staining your teeth.
Make sure to replace your toothbrush at least every 3 months.
Note: some people like to use mouthwash, but it should be noted that people who have healthy teeth and gums do not need it. There are also risks in using mouthwash to mask bad breath, as bad breath can be an early sign of gum disease or some other serious oral health issues. If you are concerned about your bad breath, then it's better to go see a dentist about it. They can prescribe you a specific mouthwash that targets gum disease or, if everything is actually ok, they can give you some tips to fix the smell.

4 Steps to Glow Up
(from someone who's not there yet)
These are the main factors I personally think can solve most of your problems. I don't think anyone is truly "ugly," but if you put effort into your appearance and health, it will boost your confidence and enhance your natural beauty.
PLEASE NOTE: These ideas also revolve around being healthy because humans are biologically inclined to find health to be most attractive. Therefore, a healthy body is a pretty body. There are 4 simple categories to self care that will allow anyone to be their best. That being said, each category can be as complex and specific as you need it to be. It all depends on how far you're willing to go and at what point you feel good about yourself.
Basically, if you're looking to Glow Up, these 4 things should be your focus.
1) Hygiene
Probably the most important factor. This includes a proper skincare and shower routine, as well as oral care and nail care. Acne, bad teeth, bitten nails, and body odor seriously affect your overall appearance. Instead of looking to cover up bad hygiene with makeup and perfume, it's healthier and more effective to solve these issues directly. Hygiene is a good place to start.
2) Diet
Changing what you do to your insides has a huge effect on your outsides. Limiting sugar and oily foods, taking vitamins, eating more vegetables, a healthier diet can help to clear up acne or bloating. It can improve the health of your skin, hair, and nails. And, of course, weight loss is another benefit that will seriously impact appearance and self-esteem. Eating healthy contributes not only to how you look but how you feel, too. And for goodness sake, drink your water! I know you've heard it countless times, but seriously! Do it!
3) Haircut
Now, we're moving away from the realm of health and looking more at the physical. All I can say is, do your research. Find out your face shape and hair texture, and find a haircut that suits your features best. Some haircuts look great on one person and bad on another. Learn how to style your hair, what shampoo and products to use. Get it cut, or learn to cut it yourself. Even if you're growing it out, it you need to get it trimmed to stay healthy. If you want to dye it, I seriously recommend going to a professional. But don't think you HAVE to dye your hair. Do it to express yourself, complement your features, and fit your style. But your natural color is not "ugly."
4) Makeup
Like with a haircut, learn more about your features and skintone, and find what works for you. Learn to use makeup as a tool, but don't use it as a crutch. You shouldn't have to hide behind it. Like I keep saying, you're already beautiful, so highlight your best features. Use colors and shades that suit you. Some people can go bold, while others look best with a more subtle look. That being said, makeup is an art form, so have fun with it.

oral hygiene practices
maintaining healthy teeth and gums is crucial for many reasons:
prevents tooth decay and gum disease. regular brushing and flossing remove plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that can lead to cavities and gum disease if not properly managed.
maintains fresh breath. poor oral hygiene can cause bad breath (halitosis). brushing your teeth, and tongue, and using mouthwash can help keep your breath fresh.
reduces the risk of systemic diseases. there is a strong link between oral health and overall health. poor oral hygiene can contribute to conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections.
saves money. preventive care is often less expensive than treating dental problems. regular check-ups and cleanings can help catch issues early before they become more serious and costly.
so, let's look at some key practices to help maintain your smile.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ brush your teeth twice a day. use fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. brush for at least two minutes, making sure to clean all surfaces of your teeth.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ floss daily. flossing helps remove plaque and food particles between your teeth and under the gumline where your toothbrush can’t reach.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ use mouthwash. an antimicrobial or fluoride mouthwash can help reduce plaque, prevent cavities, and freshen your breath.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ maintain a healthy diet. limit sugary foods and drinks, as they can contribute to tooth decay. eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables can support overall oral health.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ stay hydrated. drinking plenty of water, especially fluoridated tap water, helps wash away food particles and bacteria.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ avoid tobacco products. smoking and chewing tobacco can lead to gum disease, tooth decay, and oral cancer.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ replace your toothbrush regularly. change it over every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed.
ੈ✩‧₊˚ visit your dentist regularly. regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings are essential for maintaining oral health and catching any issues early.
i know that i am only reinforcing what your dentist is already telling you - but my purpose is to provide easy information and further reading resources that may teach you something new. by incorporating these practices into your daily routine, you can keep your teeth and gums healthy.
unfortunately, i know many people who ignore simple health facts (for a multitude of reasons). but this is not the way! looking after your health and your body is so important!

I also haven't done a comprehensive book post but I'd love to hear your thoughts! If anything, it's just made me have 10,000 more questions than I did before which was already A Lot. Also Justice 4 Mischa/Marissa always.
You sent this before we got Mischa Barton dropping major bombshells!! Now so much has changed!!
I said this briefly in earlier comments but my overall take on the book now is that, while it had lots of insights in other areas not related to Mischa Barton, it ultimately demonstrated the limits of the oral history approach. MB’s specific revelations also demonstrate why an oral history was probably not the best way to really get “behind the scenes” of what happened on this particular show. Like, in my experience oral histories are generally pretty fluffy and they kind of allow everyone to share memories and their recollections without much pushback…which is basically what happened in the book. If you interview as many people as Sepinwall did and absolutely everyone refuses to go on the record about two co-stars dating because they know just how fucked-up it is…that is a story that requires a *totally* different angle than a fluffy oral history, especially one that's such a direct collaboration with the showrunners. I’ve been thinking about the book recently published by Mo Ryan called Burn It Down: Power, Complicity, and a Call for Change in Hollywood. That’s the kind of approach you’d need to do her story justice.
At the same time, I do maintain that Sepinwall emphasized that what happened with MB’s exit was not her fault, in spite of his past (sketch) history with the show. He gave a lot of detail about network fuckery, Schwartz’s failures as a show-runner in S3, and he also showed that Brody and McKenzie were actually the ones being assholes on set, not MB, but that no one in charge cared because to Schwartz they were the two most important characters - ie, MB was considered expendable and the men were not.
As for Schwartz…I already thought he came off pretty terribly in the book but now, like, oh my god. I don’t know how anyone but ESPECIALLY women could work with him ever again. I think it's so gross to claim that you're going to be open and honest about everything that happened on your show when you know this HUGE SECRET. Like I *get* why nobody wanted to go on the record about this and of course it's fundamentally Ben McKenzie's or Mischa Barton's news to share, but then don't PRETEND that you're going to fully explain what happened twenty years later when you know it's not the full story. Jesus Christ.
What makes me so mad is that the only reason Schwartz was so comfortable “taking the fall” in the limited way he did for what happened with MB and the show’s decline in quality is because it hasn’t actually cost him anything, and sadly I don’t think MB’s interview is going to change that. Nobody important in Hollywood cares because it was so long ago and it was his first show and one actress’s mental health and career prospects are a small price to pay for letting a man do whatever he wants on a set. So he didn’t risk anything by going on the record about all this.
As for the non-MB parts of the book, of course I enjoyed reading everyone’s perspectives looking back, especially in the first year, and the little random fun stories that were sprinkled throughout. Chris Carmack came off as a pretty decent guy to me, and Adam Brody clearly has done a lot of reflection on that era of his life and how he acted at the time. I love Kelly Rowan and Peter Gallagher so much and I enjoyed their take on things (also intrigued by the comment that they weren't super tight on set?!) And I thought the book was a great overview of just how many factors and voices and interests went into making a single piece of television during the peak years of network tv. Like, so many different execs in charge of different things, all putting competing pressures on the show…it’s easy to see why television was so formulaic in that period. The O.C. in its earliest and best days really didn’t fit the mold for anything on TV, and as the book laid out why that was kind of the show's undoing in a way (in addition to Schwartz f*&king it up).
That was a lot and seems like enough to be getting on with for now, haha. Ultimately what I really want is a two volume exposé on the toxic culture of Hollywood in this early 00's era and how so many young women were chewed up and spat out by the system, with Mischa Barton's story as a prime example. She deserves justice!
