My Dog Nightmares theory. (Spoilers under the cut)

If we look at the “He’s still out there” photo, the first thing we’d think the title to mean is that Bailey’s still out there, but the picture seems to show Emily and who may be her father, which makes me think that her father did something bad enough to be imprisoned, but fled and was never caught.

My theory is that the Dogman is actually Emily’s father who’s face her mind distorts due to a traumatic event involving him, in one of the photos two people’s faces are replaced with rhinoceros and alligator heads which i originally thought were her parents, but in a community post on Piggy Soda’s channel titled fathers day, we see what is definitely Emily and her father, with her dad’s head replaced by a dog that looks more mature than Emily’s dog head.

I also believe that the current story takes place much later than it would want us to think, it’s said a few times that Emily’s search for Bailey has gone for along time and that it’s time to give up, and i think it’s possible that Emily has either been age regressed permanently since the traumatic incident which would have probably happened multiple years ago and may be experiencing both short term and long term memory loss.

Or that a more recent traumatic event, or something that reminded her of the last one, has caused her to regress and have her stuck in a loop of when Bailey went missing, and that the inciting incident would be that the Dogman is her father who has been stalking her and attempting to lure her out using dog sounds because he knows how much she loves dogs, and try to kidnap her, it would also explain why she thinks the Dogman is her friend despite how scary he is, because on a subconscious level she still recognizes him as her father.

It’s also possible that Bailey’s head being twisted/decapitated might not have anything to do with Bailey’s disappearance, but may be a distorted memory of the event that traumatized Emily, and that her father may have murder someone by decapitation, strangulation, or snapping their neck, and Emily is superimposing those images onto her memories of Bailey.

something you learn writing SOCIAL HORROR of any kind is there is just a huge portion of buckaroos who will always think the political things being reflected in art are not real or overblown, and theyre almost always wrong. i believe love wins out, but there ARE scoundrels to battle on our way there

in my first horror novella STRAIGHT the buds are going out to a cabin three years after first annual zombie day because theres a vaccine. theyre acting normal. amount of early reviews docking stars for 'being unrealistic that folks would return to acting normal in just three years' is HILARIOUS now

in BURY YOUR GAYS there are were some folks all the way up until a few weeks ago who would review and say something like 'loved the book but this issue is over. queer media is mainstream'. YET SUDDENLY we now have pride days getting removed from official calendars, gay media deleted, flags banned

so point is IM RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. just kidding. although i am. BUT ACTUALLY my point is that HORROR taps into something SO important. it taps into fear yes, but it also taps into a subliminal deep knowledge that culture KNOWS but most people are not ready to hear yet. it is a MESSENGER genre

maybe that is why i talk to much about connection between PUNK and HORROR. both strong messenger genres, and how fitting that we have whole idioms about 'killing the messenger'. these artistic expressions are often maligned as 'too much' because sometimes the truth is hard to hear and feel and read

all of this is to say I AM SO PROUD to trot here in the world of uncomfortable truths with you. im also deeply honored, and it is fight i will not back down from. fortunately WITH LOVE AS OUR FUEL this is battle we will win. that is a truth i am certain of, so lets HOIST THE FLAG OF LOVE AND TROT ON

Chainsaw Man has always been about power and control and a guy who has been stripped of his childhood and teenage years to then be constantly used and manipulated, forced to become hypersexual after being groomed and sexually assaulted, and losing the one bit of normalcy there's left in him.

Denji has no control over both his body and decisions and instantly becomes a vessel of what he thinks will fix him, the very same thing Asa is to Yoru, who keeps demanding war and respect and power and she knows what to do to make Denji lose his humanity.

The relationship between Denji and Asa is so genuine and human that using that against both of their wills is incredibly violating and dehumanizing. And that's why it is so good. And that's why it needs to be explicit. And that's why I am extremely surprised people are grossed out by this happening when dehumanizing and taking control of the lives of others is exactly what War would do.

A Random Doey The Doughman Thought

Okay, so I’ve been listening to the Doey Commercial Jingle on repeat today and one verse in particular stood out to me:

So many toys in one(Woah)Triple times the friend and triple times the fun(Times the fun)

Now, aside from this particular verse and this image from the in-universe commercial:

Being subtle foreshadowing to the nature of Doey’s creation, a thought occurred to me:

Was this commercial made before or after the Bigger Bodies version of Doey was created?

Like, if we take this commercial into account Playtime Co. either:

A. Added the concept of “triple times the friend and triple times the fun” to the tagline of their Doey toy and Playtime Dough as a cruel nod to their crimes.

Or

B. Playtime Co. deliberately added Matthew and Kevin into the mix JUST TO MIRROR THEIR PRODUCT’S TAGLINE.
