hit by lightening twice but in the good direction
in early days of my other creative way (lets pretend acting) youd trot to the theater opening day to see the poster, maybe buy a ticket. its kinda the childhood dream i think. now i get to trot to the bookstore on release week and to the surprise of younger me i like seeing my book on the shelf more
i love writing, so the surprise isnt about that, its just that this was NOT the life trot i expected. a very strange place to be, reaching the sort of 'worldwide corporate distribution' level in two unrelated art fields with no crossover at all. and then to get to compare them. i like books the best
NEVER would have guessed that as a young buckaroo. sorry if this is a meandering post, just kind of meditating on that today. feels like fate hit me with lightening twice but in the good direction. i am overwhelmed with gratitude.

Tinglepost 378: One Must Imagine Sisyphus Happily Pounded By His Boulder
Maybe I've said too much that I relate to things in tinglers, that I find this one or that one to have some aspect I empathize with, and maybe that means now I don't have a good way to express just how much I related to this one in particular. (But, hey, a few longtime buds of mine might remember when I had Hades game Sisyphus as my icon on a different site for a good long while.) Seriously, the message of this tingler hit me in a really personal place. I function very strongly in routines if the way I blog didn't make that obvious. I know routines are a part of everyone's life to some extent, but the extent of the pull these patterns have on someone's life varies from person to person. Some of us will fall into anything vaguely pattern-shaped. This one is for us.
The Sisyphus of this tingler does not begin the story with happiness or even acceptance of his situation. He is, however, adapted in the pattern in his own way. He gets his work done every day. He has his own routine. He has the kind of temperament that would make him be seen as a good worker in a modern full-time job no matter how much he is suffering to do the work. The suffering is routine. His coping strategy of putting himself in a numb mental state of denial is also routine. He starts out this story in a place where he is only dully aware of the underworld he lives in due to this mental state he has cultivated over time.
With this set-up, this tingler is one where the eventual sex scene feels especially rewarding. It isn't only a moment of Sisyphus opening up physically to a partner, but also one of opening up emotionally to the experiences around him. It can feel difficult, even dangerous, to open up to a world that can bring so much suffering, but it's the only way to be able to feel all the beauty and connection that is available around us.

Chuck, as an autistic bud myself I'm having a little trouble understanding something and I hope you can explain. If your tinglers (Pounded In The Butt By My Own Butt) aren't jokes, then... am I an asshole for laughing? Like--I find them funny. But if they aren't jokes then they aren't meant to be funny and I shouldn't be laughing. I don't mean to laugh at your sincerity. I feel bad for laughing at something if it isn't intended to be a joke/humor. Am I being a jackass? Or am I missing something?
this is a GREAT QUESTION thank you for asking.
you are welcome to laugh at tinglers and i understand what some folks find funny about them. i often LEAN INTO these elements because it brings joy.
all of that said, i PERSONALLY do not find them funny nor is the point of them to be a comedy. there may be laughter along the way, but it is not their CENTRAL GOAL to elicit laughter.
i think of them as magical, joyful, strange, sexy, cute, sweet, absurd. i would put them in the category of magical realism or surrealist erotica.
but i personally do not find them funny.
thats just me though, buckaroos can take them however they want, thats the great thing about art. YOUR WAY PROVES LOVE TOO so feel free to laugh bud

Tinglepost 374: Rears and Boning in Las Vegas
Here's a classic literature tingler based on a book I've actually read recently, for the book club I'm in. The same book club voiced some confusion about what exactly the role(s) of chocolate milk is(/are) in the Tingleverse when I had them read Trans Wizard Harriet Porber. Maybe this one would give them some more context. This tingler actually has more in common with "I Have No Butt and I Must Pound", though. It takes a story about the darker side of human creativity and twists it into something more positive and fun.
When I put it that way, it makes me wonder, why do I like this tingler? You might not know from what a tingler fan I am, but I enjoy more uncomfortable and transgressive stories as well, and often when I dislike an adaptation of a story it's because it decided to take the more challenging parts of the story and hide them away or toss them out. Tinglers are nice, but I don't need everything to tie up nicely in the end like in a majority of tinglers. I like a happy ending when it feels earned and appropriate, which it generally happens to in tinglers! (I actually really hated the ending of a book I read recently because the whole thing felt like it was setting up a tragic end for a certain character, but then everything resolved perfectly for her in the end anyway...)
And yet, I had fun reading this tingler, a riff on a story with completely unpleasant main figures, fit to a form where the protagonist never causes trouble to anyone but himself on his psychoactive milk bender, he and his traveling companion are never in any danger from driving under the influence because their car is sentient, and their journey resolves on an unambiguously positive note. Why? What makes this still read as an enjoyable romp to me and not as the kind of low-conflict fanfiction AU that tends to turn me off? This was the top question on my mind when I finished this tingler.
Now that I've reflected on it, the answer is so obvious I feel silly that I ever wondered in the first place. As with so many other questions in the Tingleverse, the answer is love. This story does not exist in opposition to the original, it is clearly created out of love for its style. Tinglers have a precious short amount of time to focus on their subject and message, and due to their compact structure a classic literature tingler will probably never touch on everything its inspiration does (though Fahrenheit 69 comes close). Thinking of it that way, the focus makes this tingler work. "Focus" feels like an odd word to use, but the story is disjointed in a very deliberate homage. It's about the vibes more than the commentary. It lives in and celebrates the chaos, and ties in Tingleverse surrealism in a way that feels fitting to the inspiration.

Remo has the day off, and he’s in a stellar mood as he treks across town for a matinee with his friend. It’s on this journey that Remo notices how many yellow flowers there are, and decides to make a simple post on the Tinglepost social media platform. He types: I like the color yellow.
When Remo exits the movie, however, he discovers that all hell has broken loose. He’s gone viral online for his careless words about the color blue, thousands of people arguing with him about things he never said. The next thing Remo knows, he’s face to face with the physical manifestation of thousands of angry comments, but now that he’s confronting the bizarre nature of the internet head on, he’s beginning to think the solution to his problem might be a little easier, and more erotic, than he first thought.
This erotic tale is 4,100 words of sizzling human on gay comment avalanche action, including anal, blowjobs, rough sex, and living online pattern love.
---
we all know this classic online way. new tingler POSTING ONLINE THAT I LIKE THE COLOR YELLOW AND THEN GETTING POUNDED BY THOUSANDS OF ANGRY COMMENTS ABOUT HOW I SAID I HATE BLUE out now and free for everyone on the chuck tingle patreon
this tingler is free in celebration of my new novel LUCKY DAY. if youve enjoyed my trot on your social media but never made leap into ordering a book, let this be your invitation to consider LUCKY DAY. thanks bud either way i appreciate you so dang much. LOVE IS REAL
EDIT: UPDATE it seems that PATREON has bent the knee to censorship in the digital age and said that romance and erotica can only exist behind a PAYWALL. this story WAS FLAGGED. fortunately patreon members can get it and it is now on amazon as usual with the other tinglers
