discovered this really cool antique store earlier today that had a giant collection of stamps! i managed to find a bunch of different sets i’d had my eye on for a while now, as well as some really cool foreign postmarked singles.

Acanalonia conica is a charming leaf-mimicking planthopper that’s very common where I live. during the day its eyes are white with brown lines, but at night or in the dark they change to a deep red.

presumably this aids in night vision, since many groups of insects like mantises, katydids, and plant bugs show a similar change in eye color between day and night
