Sometimes, the best common name for an animal is the simplest one. The red triangle slug is a prime example, named for the distinctive red triangle on its back. The mark isn't just for decoration, either; rather than breathe through its mouth, the red triangle slug breathes through a pore situated smack in the middle of its triangle!
