I think you should absolutely rant about Marble Hornets characters being watered down for shipping actually 👍
Okay so I'm gonna start with Jay, because my boy had the worst mischaracterization since Twink Masky (that's a different can of worms that I will be going into later).
Now, obviously, Jay is flawed, he makes bad decisions, and posting someone's medical documentation online is a BAD IDEA‼️‼️but that doesn't make him stupid. He's obviously not stupid, he's a flawed character, but the problem with how he's watered down is that they make him stupid, and they twink him out as well, they make him seem like this helpless pissbaby that needs Tim or Brian or Alex to save him when he lasted YEARS without them, and on the topic of Tim, they make him out to seem like this heartless bastard with nothing to offer but scatching remarks.
Tim is a complex, dynamic character, but he's interpretated as this awful guy, or the lord Himself, there's no in-between where we recognize that he's, at baseline, A Normal Guy, does he have issues? Yes! Do they make him evil and a moral lost cause? No! They don't, because he's a dynamic character with growth, and him and Jay are pushed in the the Grumpy x Sunshine box like Jay is anywhere NEAR sunshine, they're both struggling, they're both leaning on each other, and hot take, extreme paranoia on both ends doesn't scream Grumpy x Sunshine to me, and onto Alex, he's not the evil guy people think he is, again, he's flawed, everyone in Marble Hornets is flawed, that's what makes their characters so interesting! Alex was going fucking THROUGH IT, he was doing what he thought was right, he was trying to help, he was desperate, he's not this crazed murderer, he cared about his friends so much that he died for them, that doesn't scream horrible person to me, and not to mention, he was doing his fucking best even before Slenderman, he loved his friends, he loved his family, his girlfriend, and one by one, he lost them all, he lost everyone after trying to save them, even Brian, as Ray of Sunshine as hes treated (which isn't wrong, he's absolutely full of friendliness and kindness) is deeply flawed, and as much as we all love him, stalking people is pretty fucked up, and I'm sorry, but if you want uwu twinks in your media, read Boyfriends on webtoon and leave grown men ALONE
And I do think alot of the twinkifying comes from fat phobia (internalized or not), but that's a conversation for another day

TMAGP FLUFF EPISODE SPOILERS
It's more of a reaction this time, but we got some awesome character development!!
That intro had me wheezing. Here are a couple of my favorite lines:
"Big Cable Knit Jumper energy"
"Fluffy-Wuffy-uwu-Nonsense-Juice"
"Favorite blorbo skrunkily twink ship drama"
"Eating the rich IS important. But so is self care."
"Amazon Basics Guillotine"
The Incident of Alexander J. Newall has struck again (and has been officially noted in the transcript)!
I love the holy day of "divorce party."
Alice confirmed Bi/Pan!!!
Colin confirmed Achlleian!!!
Sams slow realization of Kelley from HR was hilarious.
"There's plenty more fish in the sea and they're all covered in their own shite."
Colin called Alice going after Sam!
Why did they have me like Colin more after he was brutally murder by Fr3D1?? I'm going to miss him a lot )):
I am a bit disappointed that Lena wasn't in this episode either, but it makes sense for her character. She isn't exactly the social type and trjes to stay out of her employees personal lives. Although, it would have been funny to hear her bitch about her exs or even her superiors (ex superiors now).

can i say something right now or will i be skinned alive. i am sincerely tired of this fandom putting the mercenaries into the same fandomified tropes. valve made some stellar and memorable characters yet i very rarely see any fancontent that genuinely captures the same spirit of the source material or who the tf2 mercs are as people.
It's ok, I'll take the skinning for you cuz you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT and YOU SHOULD SAY IT.
I'm BEGGING the fandom to re-read the comics and re-watch the Meet the Team videos and refresh themselves on the source material cuz at this point far too much of what the fandom puts out isn't even the TF2 mercs anymore. They're just your common tropes/cliches in media. The uwu shyboy recluse people make Sniper, the young goofy twinkish doctor people make Medic, the abusive alcoholic people make Demo, the racist southerner people make Engie, the dainty little nance who can't defend himself people make Spy, the Russian beefy communist people make Heavy. I could go on and on.
It seems that people are ignorant of the fact that half the whole thing with the TF2 mercs is how Valve rolled with the expected tropes and then immediately subverted them. Sniper isn't a recluse because he's shy, it's because he's a busy professional. Medic is goofy but he's got the Burly Beast and he is not your fandom twink. Demo is fiercely loyal to his family with a heart of gold, and he's not just an alcoholic but also a workaholic. Engie is a sweetheart with southern politeness, and also scary as hell. Spy, despite being thin as a rail, can handle the recoil of his revolver one-handed and is a more than efficient spy. And Heavy, despite being Russian, is anti-communist because his father was killed by the USSR and his family was put into a Siberian gulag because of his father being an anti-revolutionary. There's more examples of course but these are first to mind.
Please please please refresh the source material. I'm begging you.

Jjk theories / opinions / thoughts part 3 uwu (they are becoming more stupid and less coherent, let's go)
-Gege began the rumor about sukuna drinking his own milk. It is TOO MUCH OF SOMETHING GEGE WOULD SAY I cannot be convinced otherwise
-Gojo's twink death happened in the prison realm
-kenjaku was involved in founding the star religious group. He's already been making pacts with sorcerers for a thousand years, so putting him in the Nara era isn't a stretch. We already know he made several attempts to interrupt the star plasma vessels. (yes I blame him for every thing ever. His fault. And I think he'd rather watch things crumble than do the work directly bc then it's like a game, unexpected things happen and it's more interesting. Bro is always playing games even with curses smh)
-Hakari would have started a fight club to fund Kirara's transition. Idk if the higher ups would have had issues w trans students or just with Hakari's unconventional domain and methods (not hesitating to lose a foot bc he'll get it back, for example), but Gojo called them a lot of variations of conservative idiots so it seems likely I think. And they left the school before she even came out, bc Panda didn't know.
-kinda unfair that Yuta gets to transfer into Gojo with his best outfit on, he didn't have to dress like Edward Cullen for years to get there (pls don't get offended I swear to God it's a joke but also I do kinda feel this way lmaoooo)
-how the fuck do nanako and mimiko's technique work? They're twins right? I get the feeling like Mimiko can't use one on her own, but she likes to threaten people with her doll and Nanako can hang people with it. I rly wish we got to see them more (I want to believe they survived sukuna bc Geto would have prepared those girls to stay safe, maybe there's just a time lag or something pls)
IN THE AIRPORT SCENE there's even Toji but those girls are not there so that gives me hope I kajahxkakdn (I get that maybe it's Gojo's mindscape but how would he have known that Haibara showed up to Nanami? It's not just his imagination imo, those girls are alive, I need them to be.)
-I miss rainbow dragonnnnnnnn I'm so sad and still mad at toji (despite my theory that he lost himself bc the worm is banana fish I'm just bitter lmao)
-I'm so fucking sad that we didn't get to see Hanami's domain. So I made one up myself but I don't have a name for itnkajsxjskmax I just think Hanami needed a redemption arc like Choso got :(((
-the other dubs are so fkn good that when I'm tired of it I'll just play that shit in another language. The first minute of the series in French tho made me laugh so hard I had to change it. But the exchange event in German was so good
-remember when Megumi brought out Max Elephant against Noritoshi Kamo? It's like. He knew that the blood manipulation weakness was water. Maybe that's a benefit of growing up in one of the 3 major clans.
-I feel like no one ever talks about how Megumi lost Orochi AND one of the demon dogs that was with him since he was a kid when he also watched Sukuna rip out Yuuji's heart. Like we all talk about how he gets more upset over losing animals than people but all 3 of those events at once... I was rly sad at first bc I wanted to see the snake more too.
-Megumi's head bleeding in every fight for most of the anime is meant to represent that his weakness is in his head.
-when it's raining, that shows that the characters are up against something bigger than they are prepared for. (I made a whole list of every use of water and its symbolism but God I feel insane)
-the shibuya arc hurts less to watch after the first 5 times (I think? I'm on My 9th watch and I think 2 1/2 read. It's hard to keep track at this point)
-I want to see the extended mahoraga vs sukuna fight in theaters I'm so jealous oh god
-I cannot be convinced that a single character in this show is heterosexual. Everyone is gay except for hakari ig but he's an ally so
-I think that Miguel and Larue might be together but idk
-kinda weird that no one mentioned nanako or mimiko (like how no one mentioned todo and he was fiiiiiine I knew he was having fun in the culling game the whole time)
-despite how much I love hanami, my favorite animated Gojo scenes are when he is exorcising them. The English dub especially oh god
#The real question is whether kenjaku hit Rika with the car himself#And whether acting indirectly benefits him from a pact#jujutsu kaisen#jjk spoilers#jjk#jjk manga#gojo satoru#hakari kinji#kirara#okkotsu yuuta#Gege akutami

People try too hard to avoid making Johnny a soft uwu y/n height Femboy twink
like if you're so mad about mischaracterization then don't do it?
Like Johnny obviously isn't a softboy twink but he's still timid and scared pretty easily (two-bit causing him to panic after pretending to be a soc)
People treat him like he's like dally when part of his character and relationship with dally is that he ISN'T
"Johnny is at least 5 ft 9" he can easily be mistaken for a 14-year-old (Marcia thinking him and Ponyboy were the same age) don't think he's 5'9
I feel like nobody can find a middle ground with this mf

My opinion on Stolas might be a bit different from most people who openly voiced their hatred towards him.
Honestly I wouldn't say he's evil, but I also won't say he's a saint either. The guy just honestly needs a bit of a wake up call that yeah, he kind of was looking down on Blitz by calling him his little imp plaything and what happened in Ozzie's. To truly think about how the way he treated him and being called those things would lead Blitz to thinking that he doesn't love him.
And to be blunt... it seems more like he in love with falling in love. Let me in explain. The guy was trapped in an unhappy marriage where the only light in it was his daughter, so of course he might wanna look for an escape of sorts. Something akin to a knight in shining armor saving a princess from an evil witch, taking her on his steed and living happily ever after.
But the problem here that in pursuit of that fantasy, he's also neglecting Octavia. So what I'm hoping for is for the call out to come from her and that would be the breaking point for Stolas, that he really wasn't the innocent party in this as he thought to be and take the steps to truly improve and find a way to make it up to Blitz.
The thing is, that is exactly what Season 1 was trying to do. Season 1 Stolas was a man who made many mistakes that ended up hurting others, he was consumed by his own lustful desires and in the process he hurt the ones he cared about.
Part of what makes Loo Loo Land such a fantastic episode is that Stolas goes through some level of character development in that episode; he realizes that he made a mistake that hurt his daughter and, he decides to fix it by taking her to a place that she likes, even if he probably doesn't care for it.
It shows that he has more dimension beyond being a horny twink. Season 1 knew that Stolas wasn't a great person but it still gave him redeeming qualities to make him at least reedamable. I don't Season 2 Stolas (as a person) is irredeemable, but Season 2 really took everything that made Stolas interesting and threw it out the window.
The fundemental problem with how Season 2 is handling Stolas is the season's insistance of painting him as the vitcim in every situation he's in; I've said this many times before but it bares repeating; anyone who was hurt by Stolas' past actions is demonized by the narrative. Stella is turned into a one-dimensional bitch so Stolas cheating on her could make him look sympathetic. Octavia is told to cut her father some slack because he's "trying his best" even when the series shows us the exact opposite. And Blitz is told that he just hates Stolas for being a prince and is frammed as jaded and biased by the narrative even when he has no reason to think Stolas loves him given everything Stolas did to him in Season 1.
Every problem Stolas has as a character began in The Circus, where it decides to add in that "Stolas just wanted genuine affection and thought he had that with Blitz" thing, which came out of nowhere and directly contradicts what Season 1 first established, it's such a weird change in his character and feels completely different to what Season 1 gave us. It's a retcon because it doesn't line up with what was set up in the first season.
And this, in a vaccume, isn't even a terrible idea for a character, it could be interesting on it's own, but it contridicts what was previously established and turns Stolas into an UwU soft sad boy.
I don't really think that they are going to call Stolas out, at all. From what I've heard there are leaks that say that Octavia was tricked by Andre and Stella into hating Stolas, so he is now being frammed as a victim again.
Stolas had the groundwork for being the best character in the show but bad writting turned him into the worst. And at this point I don't think there's any fixing him at this point, it'll just come across and as too little too late.

the people standing up for you are lying. you play angel way to nice. he isnt this soft uwu twink. theres a reason you keep asking for threads and no one is giving them to you. delete youre blog. youre the worst angel in the fandom.
Bleh, I wasn't going to post this, but I am terrible at NOT responding to anons because I want to be sassy. So here I am, being sassy. *Stares at my 200 things in the queue and 99 drafts.* Oh yeah. Huh. Sure seems like people don't want to write with me. Mhmm. Right. I'm asking for threads because I just love writing and love this fandom and want to create more. Not because I'm suffering.
Also the irony that I agree he isn't this soft uwu twink. If you think my Angie doesn't have sass, you haven't been looking at all my threads. He literally told someone in one thread that he "doesn't sleep with ugly." He just had his Husk send him a picture in which his response was, "Did that baby get dropped on its head too many times? Or hit by a mack truck?" Angel has attitude. Look at literally every thread I have with a Vox or an Alastor.
But he has also been changing. Oh my goodness it's almost like that's his entire character arc in the show. He's going to be soft (especially towards Husk, c'mon, have you SEEN THE SOFT LOOKS HE GIVES THAT FUCKER SINCE LOSER BABY), he's soft towards Charlie, he's soft towards Niffty. He's kind, and has a huge heart, and is showing it more now because he feels comfortable to do so. And if you're asking why he's nice and 'baby' to Valentino, then I am going to one day type up a full damn essay about victims of abuse, love-bombing, why people stay in domestic violence relationships, why people act the way they do, etc. But that won't be happening now, because I have to go pack for my vacation. In which I won't be wasting my time thinking about anons like you. *Blows kiss.*
#answered: i'm sick of the poison;;#tw: anon hate#damn i really said 'im heading out of town' and people were like 'lets try to shit on him so he feels miserable when hes back'#jokes on you all ive dealt with too much fandom hate to give a flying fuck#im also literal angel dust so i am over here LAUGHING MY ASS OFF at this

Posting my theories cuz I can't fall asleep due to blorbo thoughts jdjdjdjf 💀
Spoilers for Ruin DLC below cut uwu
In my opinion, Eclipse was the original form/state of the dca. He probably had both daycare mode and a security/safety mode to protect children and deal with intruders. But then, for whatever reason (perhaps due to some last-minute decisions from management), he was split in half into Sun & Moon. Although I believe those two halves were incomplete?? Since compared to Eclipse’s voice, Sun & Moon's voices are much more robotic and kinda grainy, y'know? So maybe they were really incomplete as individuals. Sun's AI probably took Eclipse’s daycare mode, while Moon's AI took his security mode. That could be why Moon acts so aggressive while Sun seems so anxious and stressed. And since their AIs are separated (or so I think they are????), they can't use the other mode's features, meaning that Moon is not able to comfort children like he could if he had daycare mode and Sun is helpless to do anything to protect children and keep them safe like he could if he had security mode. So that could be why they need to be Eclipse in order to be "whole."
Also I made a headcanon for Eclipse :3:
He may be a twink, but he will fuck you up if he sees fit. Referring to my theory above, if Eclipse has both a daycare and safety mode, he is most likely very strong and can definitely bench press a charging station at least. Luckily for everyone, he isn't the type to resort to violence unless absolutely necessary. But that doesn't stop people from seeing his inhuman strength now and again. A child lost their toy under something heavy? He's lifted that shit up like it was paper, then grabbed the toy and gently set it back down.
With Sun's friendliness and Moon's mindfulness, Eclipse is never the kind of person to hurt anyone for no reason. So if given a reason it's most likely the poor fool who fucked up's fault XD

Human AU! Picrew
Alastor! He's a serial killer and cannibal in every AU I make unless otherwise stated. Some AU will include Al being trans, having epilepsy, or severe scarring and sometimes migraines. Eating disorder in the fact he mainly eats humans and starves a lot of the time
Nifty in every AU will be Alastors little sister, be it through found family or actual adoption. She is also a cannibal and a nurse unless otherwise stated. Every AU she lost her eye while being sex trafficked.
Rosie and Husk are Always going to be Exes, be it married or dating, but exes. Rosie is a cannibal, Husk isn't he just helps his family hide evidence. In certain AU they're Nifty and or Al's adoptive parents/found family parent's in others they are just older friends who are protective and the mom/dad friend. Rosie is a psychologist and Husk a bartender, most AU they're gonna be ex military
Angel Dust (Anthony) Husks twink boyfriend he gets after divorcing or breaking up with Rosie. Still a hooker but he and Val have a healthy relationship. Unless I need Val to be nasty for my plot. Ex addict, makes music sometimes, recovering eating disorder
The Vees! Vox with his heterochromia and I like making him sweaty either an actual problem or he's just sweaty. I also like to give him a stutter in certain AUs. He's German.
Valentino is as always, half blind, and he's a nasty weird tall man with a connective tissue disorder in most AU, he's also Latin and a pretty good friend he's very supportive just bad at it.
Velvet is a weird little chaotic rat but her boys worship her. For some reason I see her as a Floridian military brat idk, fashion designer and influencer in every AU. I ship her with Rosie.
In some AU they're adoptive siblings
Charlie and Vaggie! Twinning UwU! Vaggie is an ex Catholic cause I think it makes sense and Charlie definitely practices Wicca or something. Charlie actually does own a hotel, it's a rehab her father funded for her because she wants to help nd she has whateva sort of degree would help with that, something with therapy. Vaggie works as a security guard there.
Vaggie twin sister Lute, she's having a near constant mental breakdown, she's a psycho deep down and is FILLED with religious guilt idk what to tell ya. Killed someone. Her arm is amputated too. She teaches self defense, specialising in helping people with disabilities learn to work around them.
Charlie cousin Peter. Everyone think he's the "gay" cousin but he's actually straight and VERY comfy in his masculinity, nondenominational. Isn't technically allowed to visit the Morningstar house alone because they're "evil" but they're just spiritual. Broadway!!
Lute boyfriend, Adam. I could NOT resist making him adorable and precious because you see him and go awww but then he fucking opens his mouth and calls you a slur. Lmao. Questioning his faith. Rock star wanna be, studies music theory or something
Adams cousins! Big sis Sera is constantly worrying and lil sis Emily is heavily sheltered. Sera is a Sunday School teacher, idk, maybe religious studies? Emily if the AU has her college aged will want to be a nurse (I've been seeing Emily ships everywhere but what if she falls for her fellow nurse who's secretly a psychopath?? Nifty, I mean)
Cherri! Angels BFF! She's deffo an artist and also a demolition expert or something, and does monster trucking too! She's the best most supportive person, Penti adores her and she's secretly in love too but she's scared of it. Angel keeps mocking her that he's got two guys (Val and Husk) and she won't even take a chance on the dude who would find a way to blow up the sun for her.
Penti is trans, hjs family is also Muslim but he was disowned when he came out. He has triplet little siblings! Is studying to be or is a physicist. Idk minor speech impediment/lisp!
Frank is the embodiment of chaos and when he meets Alastor is obsessed with him (crushing on a guy your older brother doesn't like is a right if passage) Chandler and Leslie are his siblings. They we're disowned for supporting Penti and Chandler has refused to wear her veil since. Leslie still upholds their faith but is very supportive.
Usually Vark will be a dog. But occasionally an AU will call for him to be Vox little brother so here's a design for him!

To be honest, this has been harder to theme since Franz Joseph lost his quarterfinal. So here's what I've got: look at these (allegedly) bisexual weirdos. No one produces bisexual art and science bitches quite like this dynasty.
Maximilian , Emperor of Mexico, reign: 1864-1867
Rudolph II, Holy Roman Emperor, reign: 1576-1612
Propaganda under the cut:
Maximilian
From: anon
- He loved plants
- He was a sassy man
- He had good taste
- He learned Nahuatl
- He’s cute (I mean look at him)
- He said “gay rights”
- He banned child labour in Mexico
- He gave many rights back to indigenous people
- Bro was wronged by France (haven’t we all?)
- He’s baby
- Got executed, come on, give him this guys 🥺
- He loved to design gardens and collect insects which makes me think he would've loved playing animal crossing
- An outspoken liberal in a period where the monarchy was still quite conservative.
- Vice-Admiral of the Navy who initiated scientific projects and exploration.
- Aesthetic girlie. Collected flowers, painted, wrote poetry, and kept a journal. He would have loved Tumblr.
- (Probably) gay or bisexual.
- Allegedly slapped Franz Joseph for refusing to allow Lombardy to have an elective body.
- Sisi's favorite brother-in-law (and not in a romantic way, fuck you Netflix)
- Refused to take the Mexican crown until a plebiscite had been held because he wanted to be invited by the Mexican people.
- Gave up all of his Austrian titles to go to Mexico because he believed he had made a promise to them.
- Also, his wife was amazing and capable and the amount of pure misogyny that certain historians and biographers have thrown at her is ridiculous. I know this isn't a Carlota poll, but she'd want Max to win.
- Netflix did him unbelievably dirty. Please give him this.
Did you know my man Max repatriated many pieces of Mexica artefacts?
He told Austria to cough up 3 main things that he thought were rightfully Mexican.
1. The Chimalli
2. A codex
3. A letter from Cortez to the chocolate man people seem to call Charles
The Austrians took their time but eventually gave back something
The Chimalli next to max so people know who to thank for it
Rudolph:
- Possibly neurodivergent girlies rep also!!
- - THE ABSOLUTE BICON 💗💜💙
- Contributions to art and science!!! Alchemy, astronomy, painting etc flourished in his court we literally have some of the most beautiful baroque artefacts because of him
- Where do you think that pretty little crown in the polls icon came from
- Would rather do that than politics so real king
- Accused of doing occult? He's THAT astrology witchblr bitch
- VERY misunderstood and poor little meow meow uwu everyone thought he was incompetent and horny and cray cray like it was a bad thing
- We've voted on twinks? BEARS need love too!!! 💅
- Would've LOVED tumblr tbh he walked so all of us today could run 🩷🩷🩷

I have no intention of watching the new IWTV show, but I was wondering why you think Armand's characterization was so bad. I kinda hated how Antonio Banderas played him in the 1994 movie (not on its own, just in comparison to the books - I feel like his personality/demeanor was totally different), so it's sad that they still haven't gotten him right... Judging from pictures alone, I did think the casting for him was more fitting this time. Anyway, just curious to hear your thoughts!
Oh man!!!!!!!!! I do wanna say up front, I think Antonio was NOT A GREAT ARMAND but I like those scenes in the movie so much because they feel SO RICEY to me. Like I LOVE Movie!Armand even though he isn't Book!Armand, and if you read IWTV in good faith it's the only book that doens't harp on Armand looking like a smol uwu cherub so like ! SURE. He definitely still brings the calm nurturing mentor vibe in a huge way and the scenes in his room feel the most like the books to me.
I also know from the director's commentary that they specifically wanted Armand to look like that so that the Europe vampires would feel like OLD WORLD SCARY vs like, another twink lol. So he's got a little more of a tropey Dracula vibe going on and I think like as a visual contrast it works really well.
As far as the show; I think Assad is EXCELLENT. And like the whole fandom was joking even when the credits hit IMDB that it was gonna be Armand because everyone was like "OHH ARRIGHT.. LOUIS'S """""ASSISTANT"""""" OKAY !" so like I was one of the conspiracy theorists looking for clues the whole time. And his MANNERISMS are dead on and gave him away before anything else did. I have zero issue with the actor, I think he's so spooky and a complete smokeshow which Armand DESERVES. And I wish I could like the show for him, I really do! But it's just NOT WORKING FOR ME.
I'll put the rest under a cut cause it got lengthy and I'm not trying to like be a downer on anyone's dashboard but TLDR the show is so completely unrecognizable to me and I think it would've been so much better as an original concept, and personally I'm not excited by randos who share names with the books I read. The show is a hit! People really like it! But idk like showing me these two random ass men and saying "Hey this is Daniel and Armand" doesn't excite me because the story they're showing me actually ISNT Daniel and Armand lol. I'm here for the story!!! I'm not here for Easter Eggs!
Here's my main few gripes with how they wrote Armand which I find mega disappointing:
He spends 6.9/7 episodes pretending to be Louis's assistant named Rashid. WHY! LOL. Why would he do that! DANIEL DOESN'T REMEMBER HIM ANYWAY SO WHY???????? I DONT UNDERSTAND. Like Armand is a weirdo but is he THIS WEIRD? idk. idk.
The show also (in my opinion!) horrifically botched Lestat, but there's like this grain of doubt because the show has a theme of memory being unreliable, so the speculation is that maybe Armand planted a skewed version of events in Louis's head? Even the show runner sort of hinted at this? LIKE I HATE THIS?? Because if we get to S2 and it turns out that Lestat's been misrepresented, it then turns the tables and makes it that ARMAND is the one who's horrifically botched????? Like I'm all for silly Armand jokes and memes and whatever but like. sigh idk i just looked really forward to this show and hoped to see Armand on screen and I didn't really want a meme version of him. ((Also as an aside I really dislike the unreliable memory themes on the show the way they're presented because like the books frame unreliable narration as like interpretive and emotional but the vampire lore canonically is that they have like mega supernatural photographic memory? idk. If memory is faulty because they still have that human fallibility it's one thing unless they're saying Armand planted memories in Louis's head??? idk idk.))
And like speaking towards whether or not Armand is a person who would plant false memories in Louis's head; I concede that he psychically influenced Louis to join him in IWTV but like. ARMAND IS A NUANCED CHARACTER WHO ACTS FROM A PLACE OF NEED AND HURT. And idk it's just so fucking clunky I can't imagine the manipulation taking this type of shape. There's just, to me LOL, a huge difference between the mental nudge of "You are lonely and you need guidance please come with me" and "Lestat was a horrific domestic abuser." And like. idk. Just within the package of the whole rest of the season, this team has the subtlety of dropping a fucking piano so I just have no trust in them to write him with any sense of nuance.
AND THE BIGGEST OFFENSE THAT I'M JUST COMPLETELY DISGUSTED BY IS THAT HE'S A DAYWALKER?????????????????????????????????????????????????
I just hate the daywalking shit so fucking much I can't even start. Like the show changes a lot of the lore which is fine whatever it's their show change lore if you feel like it whatever but like. ARMAND'S ENTIRE LIFE IS THEMATICALLY BOOKENDED BY DARKNESS. He grows up in a CAVE. He lives in a CULT BENEATH A CEMETARY. He tries to KILL HIMSELF by GOING INTO THE SUN.
Like. And he's only 500? That's like adolescent for a vampire LOL.
There were a couple times in the season where they had some continuity errors on the show!lore so I got the vibe that the writers didn't really care about all the VAMPIRE STUFF which is kinda disappointing to me bc I'm a nerd lol but it felt like they used Armand in the sun to just give the audience a red herring and it came across as really cheap to me. So I wouldn't put it past this team to kinda be like DAYWALKING SURE LOL and not really take it seriously or think about the larger picture of how that unfolds for the character over more seasons.
IT'S WHATEVER, I JUST. I know it wouldn't make good television but I like VC because it's like existential dread and consuming darkness, I want it to hurt me, I want it to feel bleak, I want Armand's entire arc to be about how much he struggles with the idea that there's no God. It just feels like if you can make it a few centuries and be able to withstand the sun, what's the fucking point? What sacrifice did you make for being immortal? Especially for a character like Armand who so fully believes himself to be damned and would never want to make another vampire, would never subject even an enemy to it.
Especially bc like in the show the vampires can like ? Smoke? And have sex? And they can eat food (even though it tastes like paste but they can eat food). IF YOU CAN SMOKE AND FUCK AND GO IN THE SUN YOU'RE JUST A GUY. Where's the fucking DAMNATION OF IT ALL? Also what's the fucking point of Those Who Must Be Kept if you can go in the sun lol. I just . Ugh what a clusterfuck.
The show turns vampirism into more of a power fantasy than the way the books treat it as damnation or a symbol of being othered so it doesn't really mesh with like, my idea of VC and what I want out of it.
So Armand being a daywalker = Instant Nope From Me. I'm not interested in whatever they're trying to sell me lol.
A few other things that are NOT confirmed but generally just giving me the ick that I worry about:
I really, really, deeply, truly, hated how they wrote Claudia's character and how they wrote about rape, and that gives me a really bad feeling about how they'd potentially tackle Armand's canon background. The two options are: They don't, and he's a completely different character with a different background, with completely different context for his personality/motivations/etc (in which case who the fuck cares he's just some guy who shares a name with the book I like, and not really Armand), or: They GO THERE and it's just extremely heavy handed and insensitive and not fun to watch. I think show!Claudia maybe has more in common with Armand than book!Claudia because they aged her up to be a teenager so it's just, yikes. THEN AGAIN ARMAND IS NO LONGER A TEENAGER ON THE SHOW?
And to that point like. I don't need a bunch of fucking conservatives getting in my face about how I want to see a teenager sexualized because that's not the point; logistically for TV it makes sense that he's older, but again, it changes his backstory so much. imho, Armand being turned as a teenager and looking like a teenager is a huge element of his character! It's important! It just is! And I'm sorry that the show decided that the vampires could have sex, because they invented this problem for themselves! If they kept the canon lore you wouldn't have to see them have sex anyway LOL.
I also was not a fan of the truncated timeline of the show; season 1 takes place in like 30 years I think? And covers from the beginning of the story until Lestat's murder. And I believe Louis will meet Armand in the 1940s; they have the original interview in the 70s and they're together then, and they're together in the present in 2022. Idk I'm just not impressed; humans can get divorced after 30 years too, what's the point of having immortal characters if you're not gonna stretch out the timeline? And so much happens for Armand and Louis in canon and I have no idea what's happened or not happened on the show yet, no one's really sure which events have happened yet in the present day segments of the show. So like idk there's just a lot of Armand/Louis stuff to be smushing into 70 years lol and I'm bummed that they're rushing through the timeline so much.
So I just. Sigh. There's a lot of themes in VC that I really adore that the show doesn't care about, like being VERY OLD and NEVER SEEING THE SUN AGAIN but. I'm in the minority on this one because people love the show LOL. I'm happy for everyone who likes it, but it's not for me.
And like. Just! I knew going in that it would be the Loustat Show, I think everyone knew that, I didn't have huge expectations for Armand/Daniel content but it's such a small part of the books that like it would've been nice to get a couple scenes or some gifs out of it or whatever. It just sucks that like they SET UP the series in a way that the Devil's Minion won't happen on screen. And it sucks that like, depending how long the show runs for or how long AMC retains the rights, this might be the only chance in my lifetime that I had to see Devil's Minion on screen and it's not going to happen.
It's just a bummer man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry to anyone who likes the show lol I just found it to be like mega disappointing and I don't think I'm going to watch S2, I'm too upset about Armand & Daniel LOL.
#vampire pajama party on amc#the rolin jonestown massacre#<- these are my AMC salt tags if you need to mute or peruse for other disgruntled takes LOL#sorry guys!#adding this tag later re antonio!armand bc i didnt think of it at the time#but i saw the 94 movie directly after reading the book but before reading the rest of the series#so i didnt really notice that he was very different bc i didnt have 17 year old auburn hair botticelli angel in my mind yet#so i always had a neutral/positive feeling about antonion bc my first impression didnt make it a big deal

Mention of leak spoilers
I think the music is a whole lot better than season one. Honestly, I hated the music in the first season - I didn't like any of the songs and even found some of them annoying / cringe-y (sorry). The leaked songs were to me actually super memorable and neat (I genuinely love Rosie and Alastor's duet and Lute's song).
I like the fact that Sera and Lute are going to be getting a lot of attention and be fleshed out. They were my favorites, so maybe I'm biased, but I think they are compelling characters and I'm glad they're getting depth instead of being "mean bitches." Similar thing for Rosie and the bit we saw with Lilith - more actual female lead characters like promised.
The humor is a lot better, but still sometimes very annoying and pointless cursing. I don't like how Saint Peter acts. He's an older character - not an annoying twink millennial. Abel seems fine, I hope he's more than comedic relief "uwu softie with daddy issues."
I'm not entirely in favor of the Speaker of God character. I feel like they are just a random insert. I don't really like judging the art style of the show, but I really am tired of these same Owl and Wolf based characters Vivziepop just loves to keep making and putting everywhere for no reason. It's a very boring and overdone design now. I did think this show needed a more "pure / force-like" character/presence in Heaven to guide the angels and move the plot of sinners being redeemed, so I'm glad we got it, but I don't particularly like this character. More than anything I wished it had a better design and role that isn't redundant of Sera's. I think it should also act less like an actual independent free-will character and more of a "force" or "pure energy." The Speaker being more of a character brings some questions. Why did they let Sera do exterminations in the first place? Where were they until now? The Speaker came out of nowhere explaining how redemption is possible - where were they during the trial? How come they didn't know what makes a someone get into Heaven until only now?
I really wish they got the pilot va or literally anyone else to do Katie Killjoy. I'm glad she's back, but that voice is so awful and hard to listen to. Also once again her out of nowhere forced "I hate queers" jokes are just embarrassingly bad.
I'm fine with Rosie being evil. I like her a lot as a good or bad character, but yeah ... I'm a little sad how that destroys the one moment we got of sincerity amongst sinners instead of constant fighting/cursing. Still ... we get a diversity of character personalities through her and the other cannibals which is what I ultimately liked about that episode, so I'm at least fine with it. I kind of like the ship of Rosie and Alastor, but overall it's not what I care about that much, so again - I'm fine. I just hope they explain why Rosie even has that much power. I really don't want a rushed and poor explanation. Or worse: zero explanation. It's already really muddled on who's strong and why. I still don't understand why only some sinners get so many powers and others don't, and why overall sinners are stronger than Kings of Hell and actual demons.

Idk if my previous posts were unclear but I don't remotely hate any Optimus version that isn't IDW or think they suck. Every Optimus is good and there's a fan (or multiple fans!) of every version of OP no matter how obscure or underrated (as well as all the other characters).
What's more questionable (or at least annoying) is when fandom ignores canon character personalities in favor of writing specific archetypes that are either out of character or repetitive/stereotyped to the point of annoyance. As an example of this, it would be a female character being called the Team Mom just because she's a woman existing in a group of (primarily male) characters even if she's not remotely motherly or nurturing. Or, as a more topical example, how often I've seen Transformers ships where even though both characters are canonically masculine (or gender neutral), fanartists love to turn one of the characters small and weak (or even outright feminine) to turn the ship into Strong Dominant Seme and Sweet Cute Uke to fit a specific kink or romantic fantasy, even if it's a disservice/OOC to portray those characters like that.
In other words, a fandom's popularity of certain characters, ships, headcanons, etc is often more informed by tropes and forcing canon to adhere to one's personal tastes, as opposed to approaching canon and trying to understand it on its own terms. I'm not talking about the quality of the source material, but rather the way that the fandom interprets the source materials in ways that don't make any sense, approach it in bad faith, or just generally don't care about canon at all. So I'm not saying one OP is better than another, my problem is when fandom consistently focuses on certain stereotypes or flanderizations of a character, and then any character that doesn't fit the popular (often stereotyped) mold is ignored or virulently rejected. In other words, I think popular fandom often does a DISSERVICE to characters whether they love them or hate them, it just takes different forms.
So, just as an example, I think one fandom caricature of Optimus that I see a lot (and heavily dislike) is making Optimus some sort of shrinking wallflower type who's innocent, sweet, and virginal, in contrast to an opposite caricature of Megatron that's big, strong, dominant, and rugged, and making ship art that forces the characters into some kind of seme/uke or borderline heteronormative romance. Despite the fact that canon Optimus (in, say, TFP for example) is tall, broadly built, deep voiced, dignified, assertive, and strong (physically and morally), completely incorrect interpretations of him as a shy feminized uke type are still pretty common to find. And it makes you ask yourself why it is so many people make MOP ship art of them of The Small One and The Large One or The Small, Cute One and The Big, Violent One when it's completely different from canon. It feels as if such fanart is made by people who just want to see seme/uke style slash ships, and if canon doesn't give them what they want, they'll simply trash it and replace it with their own version, even if it's completely OOC.
So when I said in my other post that people don't like IDW Optimus because he can't be fit into caricatures like happy dad or shy twink, I'm not saying it to say "other OPs who resemble that suck," I'm saying it to express "Fandom tends to simplify characters into easily palatable and comfortable tropes, and when they encounter a character they can't do that with, they respond by ignoring or even hating on that character."
Other versions of Optimus have the problem where fandom turns them into a stereotype instead of the actual character they are, e.g. portraying TFA OP as some poor abused damsel with no self confidence and crippling anxiety being abused by his superiors, and then they talk more about this fake uwu smoll bean cinnamon roll version of TFA OP than they do about actual canon TFA OP. And honestly I can't think of any prominent content/meta about G1 OP that isn't just "he plays basketball and does funny one liners and is Team Dad/Grandpa." (Hell, you even get that with non-Optimus characters that get simplified to just sexy twink, old grandpa, comedy relief, evil ex, Diversity Win-- She's A Lesbian, third wheel to the favored ship, etc even though there's way more depth to them than just their surface level stereotype.)
IDW OP's problem is that he can't be stereotyped like that so instead the fandom ignores him. He's not small, so they can't stereotype him as a skinny twink getting topped by a burly uke. He's not jovial or happy go lucky or extroverted, so they can't stereotype him as Team Dad or Comedy Relief. He's assertive, blunt, and has a temper, so they can't stereotype him as a shy wallflower in need of protecting. He makes catastrophic mistakes and is responsible for bad things happening, so they can't stereotype him into a sweet cinnamon roll who has never done anything wrong in his whole life or The Infinitely Wise and Kind Paragon. There's no Big Bad Authority Figure who was mean to IDW OP and traumatized him, so they can't excuse the bad things he did as "he's traumatized so he couldn't help it" and wave away his flaws as "it's his abuser's fault, they made him this way." IDW OP has the kind of depression where he's grumpy, shut off, and angry-- as opposed to the shy, sad kind of depression that just stares forlornly out of the window in a beautifully tragic way-- so they can't make him into a sad woobie kicked around unfairly by life.
Or I guess they just stereotype IDW OP as "evil bastard with no redeeming qualities that's mean to everyone for no reason, plus the writers forced everyone to like him just because he's Optimus Prime" even though that isn't accurate either.
Put bluntly, IDW OP forces fandom to contend with the idea that someone can be a good person with good intentions but still fuck up on a massive scale and maybe end up hurting more than they helped. IDW OP is messy, ugly, flawed, mean, stoic, closed off. When IDW OP has mental breakdowns or has his feelings hurt, he's loud and angry and harsh, and the consequences of what he did while he was unwell continue to haunt him long after. In other words, he actually experiences negative emotions the way a real person would, and sometimes when he's under the influence of negative emotions, he lashes out or does stupid things (like a real person might) instead of inoffensively crying in a corner somewhere. He isn't sanitized enough for a fandom that only wants Perfect Pure Good Optimus Who Never Hurts Anyone Even By Accident, so instead of IDW OP's mistakes and dark moments being treated as the logical end point of a person put in constant no-win situations until he breaks, he gets treated as if his mistakes and flaws make him an irredeemable bastard with no good qualities who should've fucked up less often to make fans actually like him.
And this is all in a fandom where 90% of the characters are war criminals and a good half of them have massacred organic planets. But god forbid IDW Optimus ever make a bad decision in a stressful situation. Or be mean to someone. Or have a character arc about how blindly idolizing people as paragons ends badly for everyone involved because no one can be that perfect. He is simply The Worst Optimus Ever and there's absolutely nothing about him worth discussing.
And just to be clear, the problem isn't the fact that some people don't like IDW OP, or he's just not their thing and they don't care.
The problem is the fact that he's consistently and actively hated by the fanbase who makes a concentrated effort to say he sucks and make sure none of their fan works ever include him. It's literally at a level where I stopped looking in the Optimus tag on this website because I was tired of people randomly going "and btw IDW OP sucks and I want to drown him in a ditch" in posts that weren't even about IDW, and I stopped looking for MegOP fic on AO3 because most of it is IDW Megatron/clearly TFP or G1 inspired continuity soup Optimus. Places that are Optimus friendly for Optimus fans, where I could reasonably expect to find positive conversations, but instead get sucker punched by hate about the character The Space Is About. And I can't even have conversations asking about why they do, bc the way 90% of them talk, I can tell they literally just didn't read the comics or deliberately misinterpreted the story.
I find it bizarre and frankly, tragic, that the hate train for IDW OP is so pervasive that people actively erase and replace him from fan works IN THE IDW UNIVERSE in a way that no other character is targeted in. I have tried so hard to understand why IDW OP gets this sort of hate and erasure when other characters who were as bad or worse than him have perfectly normal takes about them that go "yeah he kinda sucks but he's cool and I like him" or "who cares if he's problematic IRL, it's a story." The only conclusion I can come to is that because Optimus Prime (TM) has a specific brand image and is locked into being a cultural icon, he's held to a standard of The Ideal Perfect Hero instead of the way better standard of "Is he an interesting, well written character?"
#squiggposting#discourse#i tried my best to phrase this in a way that didnt invalidate different tastes#but like honestly. some ppls tastes suck. or are actually problematic and not in a fake way#like as an example from the main text avoe#i hate it so much when gay ships are made seme/uke - dominant/submissive - fem/masc#when that not only isnt in character or accurate to canon. but is also really boring at best or homophobic at worst#i cant control ppl's opinions but i can still think theyre boring stupid or even downright offensive#i have SEEN pretty much every popular TF character or pairing get flanderized somehow#so it's not just my attachment to OP in larticular#and i find it very frustrating when it seems as if ppl arent fans of the very media they consume#and they turn an interesting story into cookie cutter stereotypes#and then when the story isnt a cookie cutter stereotype easily divisible into black and white#they hate the characters and story and call it trash#might delete later bc i feel cring#but this is oretty much the culmination of all the thoughts and discussions ive had#with multiple people#anyways ive seen enough fandom discourse posts about The State of Fandom#and The Same 5 Tropes Recycled just copy pasted into different fandoms#what i speak of isnt just about my fave. rather my fave is a victim of this fandom tencency#and it is a FACT that fandom will force characters into offensive stereotypes that dont even make sense#tldr sometimes fanon.....is way worse than canon#also i revised and edited this like a billion times to make sure i wasnt hasty or vague or mean#so if i still made a mistake. whatever i guess this post took hours#it's not about wanting absolutely everyone to love my favorite#it's about the fact that ppl actively hate him even in spaces that are about him/ships he's in#to the point i have to not interact with strangers bc i never know if my fsve will randomly get shit on#and on top that the hate is mostly based on surface level assumptions and misinformation#so not only is my fav hated in a way no other character is. they dont even hate him for canon facts#sucks to see the fandom so thoroughly full of hate by ppl who arent informed bc they never gave canon a chance

PLEASE THIS ISN'T ME BEING MEAN BUT I FEEL IT IN MY BONES THAT YOUR OC WOULD GET SO DAMN MISCHARCECTERIZED BY THE FANDOM IF THEY WERE SUPER POPULAR
HE WOULD BE HIT WITH THE UWU TWINK BEAM
even though he's in his late 30s, Reverend probably would be a bit of a twink
I try not to draw characters in categories like that but any attention he gets i'd be happy with
also more work will come on him so hopefully he isn't mischaracterized :)))

Thinking about a thing where Grian and Scar meet at a bar while they're both trying to drown their sorrows over their last break-ups.
Grian's ex broke up with him because Grian wasn't a 'uwu' soft twink like they thought he was and had an actual personality instead of just being there for some kink. Grian normally wouldn't be upset over losing such a person, but he has to deal with the flying monkeys that are his last partners family because he 'dared to break up with their precious child instead of trying to make it work' and 'their child wasted so much time and money being with him, the least he could do is give them enough money to find a new apartment' and all other kinds of entitled bs. He's gotten really tired of dealing with it, police are zero help because the family hasn't done him any physical harm yet, and he just wants to forget about the whole situation...even if that mean he ends up black out drunk and hating himself the next day.
Scar's ex broke up with him seemingly out of nowhere, as the relationship seemed to be doing fine until his partner sat him down for a 'talk' and blindsided him. Scar asked for a reason, and kinda regrets doing so, because he was told 'he didn't acted at all like they thought he would. He was much more soft than they were expected them, and that he couldn't satisfy them like the last person they were with' and this all happen the day after he had took them on a date to do something his ex wanted to do for a long time but never had the chance to do. He's been a bit of a wreck after it happened, with him drowning his sorrows with a lot cake and ice-cream. And that was working until when he went to change his relationship status and saw a post from his ex about 'Celebrating 2 months with the new boo <3' which really stung, because he and his ex had only been broken up for 2 weeks at that point. So now he's seeing if a night of intense drinking take him back to the comfort that cake is no longer giving him.
It was just by chance the two ended up in the same bar, seated on stools a few feat away from each other, not knowing of the others existence until one complained rather loudly to the bartender about the situation they're in and the other chimed in with their also bad situation. They both then start talking to each other about how bad their exes were (after moving to a table to not annoy the bartender and other patrons), lips just getting looser and looser as they both continue drinking.
It ends up with them in a motel room together, waking up the next morning, just hating their last night selves and then noticing the other in the room. Cue panicking because neither remembers anything after maybe their 10th or so drink. And because they're both think something along the lines of 'Goddamn it, they're so cute/hot and I don't know if I had drunk sex with them or not and they're not going to want anything to do with me!'
(Don't drink because things are really rough kids, it's rather unhealthy and can lead to even worse things happening)
They never did do anything that night, sure they shared some sloppy kisses and intimate touches but nothing past that. Once they hit the bed they cuddled up and passed out
Scar is the first to ask for Grian's number, asking if they'd like to meet properly the next time they're free- Grian happily accepts it and thus their friendship to lovers begins
(So true so true. Only drink to have fun and be safe about it- never drink to dull out the feelings. trust me I would know, it isn't fun)
