There was  A LOT that happened in this book, and not all of it made sense, at least to me. Some parts were written well, and others not so much. Again, I love the different points of view. I also loved how the author included all of the characters from the series. It was nice to tie everything together. Some parts were so weird, though. There was a lot of the author telling and not showing. An excellent example of that was when we were getting Zoya’s backstory. However, when she randomly meets a group of Sulis and explains her heritage, I don’t know; it just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. As readers, we already know, so why explain it again?

NINA! I honestly was about to cry for her because how can she not have anything nice in her life?! But then it ended up being okay for her, and she ended up happy. :) I love that she’s bisexual. As a bisexual woman, seeing that kind of representation in books is nice, especially when it’s unexpected.

Speaking of, Hanne was super cool! And I think they were transgender. The way they were talking about not ever feeling truly happy as a girl, to then being able to disguise themself as a man and feeling good in their skin - love to see it!

Zoya is the fucking queen! Nikolai is such a little shit for not telling her ahead of time what he was planning to do, haha

I love them together; I wish there were more of that!

Genya/David 😭😭😭 what the hell, man?! Was that necessary?

Ok, so... the Darkling. That... was a weird storyline, which brought the rating of this book down. It felt very out of place with everything else going on. It was an interesting ending for him, although I’m surprised, given that the author was adamant that he was not redeemable. Why make him like that, then? 

Overall, this book/duology felt like the author was trying to do too many things at once. There are some excellent ideas and plotlines, but they need to be fleshed out a bit more. Some were not necessary, lol.
