this kind of showcases why the crows are a found family to me. they are a family of miscreants, that found each other amidst struggle and pain and suffering, that survived insane situations, jobs, and circumstances together, saved each other’s lives, and made each other stronger, caught in each other’s orbit and finding themselves and their causes and purposes and homes again through the horrors that they faced side by side.

inej says here that all she has now is people to fight beside—her only definition of family now. like when wylan thinks “even if he’d had his pick of a thousand companions, these would have been the people he chose”. I should also mention that in my experience, as a teenager now, the people that I grew up with until this point are very important to me and always will be. when we reach adulthood, that importance won’t falter. at this point in my life, they know me better then anyone ever will—at both my best and my worst, at the same time. there’s no connection stronger. the crows’ importance to each other will not ever falter. as well as the fact that they are growing up together, they’re also fighting side by side daily in a world that left them for dead, which changes the dynamic even further and binds them together even stronger. no matter what, the crows were destined to find each other, to be bound together, and to be in each other’s lives. their bond is thicker then blood. they all genuinely love and care about each other fiercely, and they will always find their way to each other, no matter how difficult.

17. A series of kisses that turns into a make out session + 21. After kissing B, A pulls them right back in for another kiss when they pull away.

“Are you going to help, or are you just going to let me do all the hard work?” Jesper asks, turning to face Wylan with his hands on his hips.

Colm had tasked them with restacking the bales of hay that were freshly delivered that morning, a task that Wylan quickly realised he was very much not cut out for. Hay is heavy, it turns out.

But Jesper… Jesper is every inch the farm boy right now, dressed in old, worn trousers and a loose linen shirt, rolled up to his elbows and damp with sweat. His skin is glistening from the exertion, forearm muscles bulging, and a few coils of hair have fallen forwards against his forehead. He is beautiful, a work of art, and Wylan is a horny, horny man.

“I’d rather just watch you,” he says, making no effort to hide the way his eyes roam Jesper’s body. He glances up just in time to catch a slow smirk spread across Jesper’s face.

“Is this doing it for you?”

Wylan groans softly, stepping in close so he can slide his palms over Jesper’s chest. “You have no idea.” He stretches up on his tiptoes until he can press their lips together, unable to stop the pleased sigh that escapes him when Jesper tenderly cups his cheek and kisses him back.

It’s over far too quickly.

Jesper pulls away after a few moments, dark eyes glinting, and Wylan barely even thinks before dragging him right back, hands fisted in the front of his shirt. This kiss isn’t tender at all, it’s Wylan swiping his tongue over the seam of Jesper’s lips until he parts them and pushing Jesper down, down to the floor until he can crawl into his lap and get his hands all over him.

“Saints, Wylan,” Jesper gasps out when Wylan moves away from his mouth so he can kiss his neck instead. “Didn’t realise you had such a thing for farm boys…”

“I don’t,” says Wylan. His voice comes out lower than he intends it to. “It’s just you.”

“Lucky me,” Jesper says with a grin, before tangling a hand in Wylan’s hair and guiding him back up until they can kiss again.

This time, it’s Jesper who controls the kiss, his hands roaming and grabbing at whatever body part they can reach, and Wylan is all too happy to sit in Jesper’s lap and let himself be kissed within an inch of his life, as arousal trickles thick like honey down his spine.

He’s contemplating pushing Jesper down onto his back and suggesting a literal roll in the hay when the barn door opens, startling them both.

Colm sighs a long-suffering sigh, and Wylan hides his face in Jesper’s neck, cheeks flaming.

“Lunch is ready, boys. Maybe afterwards you can actually finish the job I gave you?”

“Sure, da,” says Jesper. Then, once Colm has left, he murmurs in Wylan’s ear, “We’ll finish this later.”
