Right?? In most other books they're either too dependent on their very questionable boyfriends, or they are borderline Tsundere.

Nina and Inej break every female stereotype there is, and they are both fully fleshed out, independent, and complicated people before they are Kaz's or Matthias's love interests. And when they are with their separate loves, they are still treated like people.

Just realized why I enjoy reading about straight relationships in Six of Crows- the girls are written like actual people instead of like, dolls. In a lot of romantsy (I know six of crows isn’t quite that) the romance is really boring to me, but I really enjoy six of crows’ romance.

Turns out writing woman as actual people helps.

Now I know I said I'll update after finishing part 2 of Six of Crows, but I was busy and I also ended up reading ahead and finishing the 3rd part as well... cause, yeah. I love it too much. So here are some more thoughts if anyone would like to listen :)

For some reason, I am really really loving Nina this time around, and once again, I can't thank Leigh enough for not stereotyping her character, cause yes, she is sexy and flirty and bold and fiery and funny, but she's also anxious and stressed and loving and just another girl trying to survive, the little moments between her and Inej on the boat were SO SO PRECIOUS, my two lovely lovely girls, finding comfort with each other when they get sick of the guys, and the part where Nina finds the corpses on the pyres broke my heart to pieces, but anyway, Nina is really standing out this time

And Jesper, as relatable and real as he always was, his interactions with Nina, Inej, and Wylan are a JOY to read, but I do still wish there was more Nina and Jesper together, I love them so much, the part where he calls her "gorgeous" is one of my favorite underrated moment

The banter kills me, obviously, there was one part where Kaz was making the crew revise all the security and alarm systems of the Ice Court because of course he is, (page 222 to 223), and after that, I legitimately choked on my laughter when I read that Kaz made Matthias mimic the bells of the Elderclock and poor Matty had to do "bing bong bing bong" NO WAIT, IT'S ACTUALLY "bing bing BONG bing bing"

The Helnik bits are funny, but they also make me want to slap Matthias, even if I understand why he's like that

I think it's safe to say that SOC is a comedy book as much as it is a fantasy book

As for Kaz's plans, I thought I understood them, but looks like a was kidding myself, in reality I grasp the plans for five minutes at the maximum and then forget everything save for Inej's great incinerator climb, later when the heist actually happens, I will have to pretend I know what's going on, otherwise I'm as lost as the other Crows (I know, I know, Kaz would be so proud wouldn't he?)

"Because I've been looking for an excuse to talk to you for two days" you stupid stupid loverboy, grab a hold of yourself, it's embarrassing, and is it a bad thing that Freddy Carter's face flashed in my brain when the "you, Inej, you" line came?? 😭

Even so, Inject Kanej straight into my veins, please and thank you

Listen, I FINALLY got around to my annual Six of Crows duology reread, and currently I finished the first part of SOC. Here are some thoughts if anyone cares.

I'm still a little offended about Joost not being able to compliment brown eyes, as a brown (dark hazelish?) eyed person myself

I completely forgot how fucking MEAN Kaz was to everyone in this book, but OH BOY is this guy an absolute delight to read, whether I'm on his POV or not, even nearly a decade later, he's as funny and savage as he was the first time

It's also pretty interesting how Inej was the first Crow to get a POV (rightfully so), but Kaz was the first Crow who was "officially" introduced and Jesper was the first Crow to speak, CROW TRIO FOREVER

Inej is also just as amazing as she was when I read SOC for the first time, but I gotta say, it was extremely amusing to read about her feeling jealous about Kaz leaving Pim in charge of the gang instead of her, I was like "Okay, girl, I get it, you like him A LOT, don't worry, he likes you A LOT too, you're both just idiots who don't realize it" and it also proves all those mf wrong who claim that Inej is so boring and "flawless"

I love Jesper too, of course, for now he's just the guy with the interesting commentary in the background, but I love him, can't wait to get to his POV again

My massive and hopeless crush on Kaz and my intense love for Kanej hit me again in FULL FORCE after reading ✨the scene✨ in the fourth chapter

I love reading the two being partners in crime in the back during the Matthias Hellgate Breakout chapter while Nina and Matthias were having their own dilemma in the front

"Men mock the gods until they need them" "Greed bows to me. It is my servant and my lever" OKAY YOU TWO, JUST GET MARRIED ALREADY

Why doesn't anyone talk about Kaz roasting the crap out of Geels and Van Eck two minutes after meeting them???

Nina is also wonderful to read, especially the part where she goes from sexy Grisha therapist to tired seventeen girl with a sweet tooth, not to mention the way she's just DONE with Kaz, I even loved the way she was angry at Inej for no reason (But no worries, she still loves Inej), like that is way too relatable, girl

Anyway, that's all I got for now, I'll update after I finish the second part.

I love the scene by itself, but as a part of the adaptation...? Many thoughts that I can't let out coherently at this moment.

YYAAAASSSSSS!!!! I AM SUPER PLEASED TO SEE THIS!!! Wings of Fire was THE first fantasy series I have EVER read, and the books were MY LIFE!!! And still are, but of course, I have branched out to other things ^^

And sharing your opinions is completely okay, in fact, I'll share mine as well and answer yours.

My favorite character ever is Winter. I completely agree with not liking his ending. He was practically gaslighted into thinking that he was 100% in the wrong even though he wasn't. His own friends treat him like shit, and on one side, I get he was a bit of a jerk but at the same time, he still did so much for them and had a really rough childhood, not to mention getting sacrificed by HIS OWN PARENTS because they would rather keep the more "acceptable" child and their supreme title. My poor baby deserves better but gets awful treatment by friends, family, the fandom and the author alike. Additionally, and ALSO love love love Clearsight, Darkstalker and pretty much everyone else from Legends Darkstalker because this book changed my life forever and broke me for days. I also love Sunny, Clay, Peril, Qibli, Snowfall, and Turtle.

I can't say i like Glory as well though. She felt too Mary Sueish to me, and I hate the way she treats Sunny sometimes. And I also feel like many of the RainWings are overrated as HECK. I bet they are the authors favorite tribe.

Also not a Glorybringer fan, but it's okay if you like it. My fav ship is Darksight/Clearstalker. They are far from the healthiest, but I thought they had the most powerful writing and story. Very intense and gripping. You already know I am a SUCKER for a good intense romance ( as long as it is written well)

And I agree about the scavengers. I hate that they are included at all, I was like "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY DRAGON BOOKS THAT SHOULD HAVE DRAGONS ONLY!!!! THAT WAS THE WHOLE ENTIRE REASON WHY I READ THEM"

Lastly, while the entire series is good, (and it's also getting a fourth arc, did you know?), my fav book of all is the Darkstalker book. Arctic's death haunts me to this day

Anyway, I just love hearing all your opinions and hearing that you love WoF! Helps me feel less weird and alone.

YES. My childhood series. (I say that about a lot of books, but I started the wof series literally when I started reading at that level.)

And since you started me on this rant, I hope you don’t mind me taking this opportunity to say some of my (controversial?) wof opinions! (Idk how many of the arcs you’ve read but I want to talk about these books so😭)

My favorites are Glory(I also think the NightWings should stay under her rule), Kinkajou, Turtle, Clearsight, Sunny, Blue, Deathbringer, and Snowfall.

I ship Glorybringer as well. (The age difference is clearly a mistake, also dragons don’t age the same way scavengers do, so it’s strange how controversial it is)

I don’t like Winter’s ending

I didn’t like how much scavengers were focused on in the last arc(I honestly don’t think this is a controversial opinion) like it took me FOREVER to read dragonslayer bc I was like “humans?? in my dragon books?????”

I know it’s a kids book but I wish animus magic had been explained more

(I’ve also dressed up as Kinkajou for Halloween, so yeah, I’d say I like these books quite a lot.)

So here is Kaz fighting like a whole gang by himself like an idiot. Or at least part of it- I did not have the stamina to draw him fighting the first six dudes and I really needed to draw the iconic bloody smile at the end (and bloodthirsty Inej). It probably shouldn’t have taken like three months but picked a bad time to start it, with family and holidays and getting laid off and job hunting so it was hard to find the time and motivation. Also I picked like the most painful scene in the book to try and draw honestly. I’m never going to try and draw a fight scene ever again. Or stairs. Or anything. Also for the millionth time i goddamn hate how tumblr shrinks images.

My favorite thing about Freddy Carter being in FnaF 2 is seeing these new people reacting to him, and describing him and theorizing the mystery of which character he plays. I've even seen a bunch of comments on YT saying that he's a gigachad, or that he's smoldering, or that he's got insane eyebrows and a really villainy/mischievous/evil looking face.

They're hilarious 💀
