The Media and Trump: A Dangerous Symbiotic Relationship
The media and Trump have undeniably played significant roles in shaping the political landscape and the state of democracy. However, their relationship has been far from constructive. In this article, we will explore the reasons behind Trump's reluctance to join debates and the media's failure to challenge him effectively. Both parties have contributed to the erosion of democracy, and it is crucial to address these issues head-on.
The Media's Love for Sensationalism:
The media, like a train wreck, thrives on chaos and sensationalism. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a focus on the negative aspects of humanity, neglecting the importance of highlighting the good. This trend has been decades in the making, with the media capitalizing on the ideal time in history to sow doubt in the minds of the vulnerable and neglected. Government, business, industry, and individuals have all played a role in perpetuating this cycle in the pursuit of power, money, and control.
Wealth Disparity and Questionable Leadership:
It is disheartening to witness the immense wealth disparity in our society, with a small percentage of the population holding more wealth than 90% of Americans. This raises questions about how unqualified, unpatriotic, and questionable individuals have been placed in positions of authority and influence by governments. Both sides of the political spectrum are to blame for this, as Trump himself acknowledged the Republican party's susceptibility to manipulation.
The Power of Ratings:
Trump has tapped into the power of ratings, which has become the lifeblood of media and the root of all evil. While money may be the driving force, it needs the soil of ratings to thrive. The media has inadvertently fueled the rise of Trump and those who aspire to be like him. As long as his antics bring in ratings, the media will continue to air them, perpetuating the cycle of train wrecks. This symbiotic relationship has allowed Trump to make a mockery of everything he touches, further endangering democracy and our way of life.
The Need for Media Course Correction:
The media, in all its forms, could have been a true ally for democracy. However, it has chosen chaos, misinformation, propaganda, disinformation, deception, and manipulation over truth, justice, the rule of law, ethics, and morality. It is disheartening to see that the media has nearly given up on humanity. The urgent question now is whether the media can course correct. Can it challenge those who have declared war on our democracy? Can it stop the ship from sinking, a ship for which it has drilled holes?
A Call for Serious and Adult Conversations:
While getting Trump to the debate stage may provide some entertainment, it is essential to challenge all those who are destroying our country and democracy. Blame falls on both sides, and it is time for a no-nonsense, in-your-face conversation about implementing real change and improving the lives of all citizens. Foolishness will not be tolerated. The media and the American people are ready to meet any challenges head-on. It is time to act, and the choice is yours, America.
Conclusion:
The media and Trump have had a detrimental impact on democracy. Their symbiotic relationship, fueled by sensationalism and ratings, has contributed to the erosion of truth, justice, and ethical journalism. It is crucial for the media to course correct and prioritize the values that underpin a healthy democracy. Only through serious and adult conversations can we address the issues at hand, challenge destructive forces, and implement real change for the betterment of all citizens. The time for action is now.

It's all fun and games til you hit something you didn't expect in a construction zone and you pop both passenger side tires in what can only be described as the absolute worst occurence of fuckery you've encountered today

I'm losing my fucking mind.
In the last years, my university has been tagged multiple times with racist and neo-nazi symbols. The local of our union against racism and pro lgbtq+ was destroyed multiple times. Nothing was done, but a bit of paint to cover it up. No investigation. No punishment. And when I vocalised my discomfort, I was told it was nothing, just "immature young people trying to get attention".
Last year, the prefect of Paris authorized a Neo-Nazis' protest. Neo-Nazis walked in Paris, freely, as if it's not illegal to express racism or nazi rhetoric in this country. People weren't happy, so the prefete said it would not happen again.
Well, for the 21st of April, multiple protests against racism were organized all around France, and, they were not authorized by the authorities. The same prefect that let, a year ago, Neo-Nazis in the street of Paris, refused to let a protest against racism walk those same streets. He said "It's antisemitic. They support Palestine, they are antisemitic.". Yeah, take us for idiots, the protest against racism is going to be too antisemitic but not the Neo-Nazis you let walk around (and we know he would do it again).
And now, we have Sciences Po, one of the most reputable universities in our country, joining the movement the USAmerican students have started. The Sorbonne, another reputable university, followed. The French gov and media cried about it, called them "terrorists", "uneducated", "revolutionaries" (this one is crazy and really shows the fascism behind it all. We are in France, being revolutionary is NOT a bad thing in our culture. Wtf would you use "revolutionary" negatively in France, unless you are an oppressor?!!!) Students who are calling for the end of Genocide and just sitting on the ground! The cops were sent and dragged them out. For information, the cops CANNOT intervene in an university in France without the authorization of the president of this university. Not even the gov can make the cops enter an university, it's illegal. When students protest inside an university, people don't like seeing the cops being send after them. Two reasons: 1- students have often protest and help for the quality of life of everyone in French history, 2- WWII's trauma, Nazis stormed French universities because they were hiding Jews and resistants. Like, they are straight up acting like the Nazis, again. And the city of Paris wants to cut the budget they give to those two universities to punish them for not keeping their students in line. So, freedom of speech? GONE.
Students are protesting against a massacre, and they are calling them antisemitic. People standing against racism is antisemitic. But not the people branding Neo-Nazi symbols and chanting Neo-Nazi slogans. They don't move if you are branding a swastika, which is illegal, but will if you are branding Palestine's flag, which is not (yet). They let a political party founded with a SS go around and act nice, but the ones asking for the end of a massacre are the Nazis. Make sense.
So, I'm fucking pissed. I'm fucking pissed because I was told to "calm down" when I couldn't stand the antisemitism paint on my university, when I couldn't stand being friendly with the students that did or support that (because I did meet one). I was told to ignore antisemitism and I refused, and now, they call me antisemitic for standing with Palestinians?! How dare they when they tried to gaslight me so I would ignore the antisemitism in front of me?!
They don't care about jewish people! It's not about jewish people or the jewish faith, it's about white supremacy!
The people have already planned to protest during the Olympic Games, because the French gov is going full fascism lately (everyday, we wake up to more bs), and I hope with all my heart that we ruin the event at least (which would harm them financially), and at best, we get rid of the government and this 5th republic.
#free palestine#france#Palestine#france in the last year: time to speedrun fascism#it's crazy here they are losing their mind I'm losing my mind#what do you mean children are going to go to class from 8a.m. to 6p.m. 5 days a week??? wtf are they working more than adults#and the swimmers at the Olympic Games are all going to fall ill because the Seine's water are awful and not safe at all#also they want to control who can enter Paris and even the people living there could be refused to enter if they are “dangerous”#being dangerous = not agreeing with everything the gov does btw#and they deported homeless people out of Paris DEPORTED no they didn’t give them homes they just forced them into bus and kicked them out#yeah I'm being full on revolutionary again but it seems to be the last option with them

Personal but: tomorrow I gotta call my neurologist's office and ask them to transfer my medical record to my doctor, so that he can sign off on my disability pension, and I can't wait to hear what excuse I'm going to get for why they cannot perform this basic fucking task. It's gonna be like "actually because we write our medical records on circle-shaped paper we're unable to scan it into normal square-shaped paper format, so that's why we can't transfer your medical record, guess you'll just have to choose between death by seizure or death by starvation uwu". And I know anyone reading this will be thinking I'm just being silly and dramatic and to that I say: tune in tomorrow and find out lmao
#then after that I gotta actually get this doctor to fill out the form correctly#which you would think would be easy for someone with a whole ass medical degree#but everyone always a dumbass around me so BET#and THEN once I've gotten two consecutive people to do their jobs I gotta face the final boss#which is the welfare office#which is notoriously staffed by devoutly malignant dumbasses#looking at the doctor's statement#deciding they don't know better than a doctor#which often they DO decide they know better than a doctor so that ain't a given#and then looking at that in conjunction with my homelessness#and coming to the conclusion that I might in fact struggle to work full-time#and if they still want to force me to do pointless activities to punish me for relying on welfare#that I should at least be referred to a disability employment service#who will be far better equipped to force me to do those things in a way that ain't gonna result in me in an emergency department#so all this gotta line up all these people gotta act right in a row#and I never get people acting right ever#so I have low expectations#but I have over the years grown some humour about this sort of thing so I genuinely can't wait to see how ridiculous this gets#lmao

Finally working as a social worker in the field and yeah we're cops too. We're churning ppl thru the system too. Most fucked up thing is my job is considered a "mental health" agency and we're supposed to prioritize linking ppl to mental health resources... whole time like 95% of our clients are homeless and utilize us primarily for a hotel stay. These ppl are worrying about where they're gonna get their next meal, what's going to happen to them after their hotel stay runs out. I have clients who are single mothers on the verge of homelessness and I'm supposed to ask "how do you feel about outpatient counseling? Psychiatry? Mental health skill building?" It's fucked.
#it's a systemic issue for sure and i do my best to go against management when i can#and yeah there are clients who do need mental health resources. but if their homelessness is the root CAUSE of their mental health status-#-its just putting a band aid over a massive open wound#i'm realizing crisis stabilization as a concept is just fucked bc it assumes clients are in the best possible circumstance aside from their-#-mental health. assuming ppl have the income to utilize additional services. the transportation to access them#this company i work for is so evil anyway. they're trying to make our nurses 1099 now after hiring them on full time

how are you ruined?
ruined by trauma
you cannot get over the past. you are constantly remembering, never forgetting. you cant live in the moment because the moment is not what brought you here. you are birthed, raised, and killed in the past. you will never get over what was done to you, be it big or be it small. you cannot escape what you refuse to confront.

campground in bumfuckville nowhere cannot be walked to and does not get enough traffic to warrant a train route, but can easily clear a dirt road.
public transit is never going to come to my house. I can walk, sure, but my life is substantially worse when it's pouring for weeks. I live on one hell of a hill: carrying groceries is a nightmare, and I don't think anyone with the mildest mobility impairment would make it.
idk. I don't have a car but it seems very obvious that having one would be extremely advantageous in a way the other options cannot. idk how having a closed space you an move around fully under your own control is not going to be inherently more flexible. it might have other problems, in terms of scalability or sustainability or whatnot, but I struggle to see how it's not straightforwardly nicer.
The reason you can drive a car everywhere is because people put roads everywhere. People are capable of putting safe bike and walking paths and public transit infrastructure everywhere too. Asphalt and gravel roads are not naturally occurring. You being tied to your car if you want to “go anywhere” isn’t a feature of cars it’s a construction as artificial as the car itself
#I just don't feel very free at all every time it rains idk what to tell you#additions#someone recommended I try an electric scooter when I was too tired to walk home#and I'm like. that thing is never making it up. cars get stuck if they don't accelerate full force#and I will never be able to ride a bike so#if I had a car I'd even have 90% less concern about a place to live.#like. I'd just own a movable closed space to myself. how is that not fucking awesome#'even if I become homeless I could still have shelter. and my shelter could take me places' is unbelievably appealing#I could live anywhere!#I could work anywhere!#come on that is 100% unquestionably an increase in freedom

Work, it’s an all-or-nothing option.
In Greek, Roman and Eastern antiquity, work was seen as a necessary evil. If possible, others were made to do it for you. The earliest references to work in Mesopotamia depicted gods imposing their tasks on men, because they were stronger. Value in antiquity was not work, but knowledge, information and the arts.
In medieval society, the privilege of the nobility was not to work, and they had to avoid showing the marks of their labor: calloused hands, tanning, etc. We start talking about work when the noble forces the weak to do a chore. There was no talk of work for the craftsman, the one who made things. Until the Industrial Revolution, the craftsman and his network made the entire product, and was paid for the finished product. For example, a bed was purchased. The price depended on quality, and there was no notion of working time.
With the industrial revolution, quality became less important. We considered price. Everything was produced in the division of labor, and the worker was paid for his time. In the 19th century, the value of work was born. The employer asked the worker to work as much as possible in the time he was paid. The Church modified its doctrine to say that man could draw closer to God through work.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the boss bought hours and the worker had to give his all. With the First World War, many of the men went to the front. Women produced armaments. And yet, for the majority of the population in Europe, with the exception of Russia, which was not industrialized, everything functioned normally: stores, public services and so on. When soldiers returned from the front, full-time salaries were needed to employ them. In 1920, Bertrand Russel wondered why. Why ask men and women to work from morning to night when, according to his calculations at the time, society would function normally, thanks to technical progress, if people worked 4 hours a day, 4 days a week? Why does the citizen have to choose between working with all his strength and health to the point of exhaustion, or being deposed, losing everything? If work leads to holiness, why don’t the nobles work? Don’t they also aspire to holiness? What to do with those who have no work? In the 1920s, the homeless were multiplying on the streets of European cities.
Why not share the workload?
The absurdity doesn’t stop there. In the post-war years, economics tried to become a science. Economists demonstrated that changes in productivity are essentially due to changes in working methods, not working hours. Producing more cars in the same factory does not depend on workers’ workload, but on work methods.
Since the 50s, economists have shown that increasing the effort required of workers reduces productivity, due to a lack of concentration and accidents in the workplace. This costs society and pollutes it: burn-outs, anti-depressants, illnesses linked to sedentary lifestyles and junk food, childcare (some of whom become delinquents), the trains and freeways needed to get everyone to work in the morning and back home together in the evening, and so on. The need to work is also paid for in human terms: harassment, suicides, abuse, acceptance of dangerous working conditions, isolation, etc.
Why are the jobs that provide the greatest services the ones that have the most work and are the least paid: nursery workers, nurses, police officers, etc.?
The problem is not economic. To earn more, people have to work less.
In society in general, it’s commonly accepted that you have to work yourself to exhaustion: look at nurses, cooks, etc. 75% of our representatives are property owners or stock market shareholders, who live without working, who are the richest people.
The value of work is a toxic notion. The one who works is the servant and the one who doesn’t work is the master. Nothing has changed. Forcing people to work in order to survive, through wages, means using work to achieve what the French Revolution destroyed by abolishing privileges.
Workers are forced to work, otherwise they have no right to anything. The examples of dismissed people are used as scarecrows to control others. Hard work is not a quality, it’s not a goal and it’s not economically viable. Waking up early and working late brings nothing.
What’s more, those who destroy jobs by relocating or using unfair competition (products produced abroad under poor social and environmental conditions) are the first to call lazy those who have lost their sources of income and can’t find a job.
The aim should be to contribute something to society, to be of service, to create useful things, to pay attention to the quality of one’s work.
The sharing of work and wealth is necessary to eliminate the society of privilege and class. It’s economically viable.
Putting people to work to control the population is anti-democratic. After all, how can you take care of politics, your diet, elders or the education of your children if you’re exhausted from work? To deprive citizens of idleness is to control them.

Anyone else kinda force themselves to go to college simply because it was the only way to not live w your parents and also not be homeless
Cause I fucking hate this
#like I’m able to live in the dorms without having to get the same kind of approval as an apartment at least#like this option is putting me in debt for the rest of my life#(especially considering I don’t like what I’m studying)#but it means I’m not homeless and I’m not killing myself#I live there#work full time#attend school full time#save up as much as humanly possible#and then get no response to every message I send about getting an actual apartment
