idk if this happens to anyone else but when the eczema on my hands or face is flaring, my skin in general seems to get more sensitive and my whole body gets itchy even though i rarely develop eczema patches anywhere else. like it’s just normal skin no rash or anything
anyway it drives me crazy n esp pisses me off at night because i keep having to move around to scratch an unbearable itch in some random spot

✦ Women's Hygiene Tips
Tumblr media
▪ Thoroughly dry key areas Dry areas like the intimate region, armpits, and feet completely after showering to prevent bacteria and odour caused by trapped moisture.
▪ Apply deodorant at night It allows sweat glands to absorb the product more effectively when they’re less active, making it last longer.
▪ Moisturise after a shower Moisturise immediately after showering while the skin is damp to lock in hydration and keep the skin soft.
▪ Apply body oil after moisturizing Layering body oil over moisturizer seals in hydration and gives the skin a healthy, glowing appearance.
▪ Layer perfume and mist on damp skin Helps the scent adhere better and last throughout the day.
▪ Avoid scented products for intimate areas Scented products can disrupt the natural pH balance, leading to irritation or infections, so opt for plant-based, fragrance-free washes.
▪ Use a dedicated razor for intimate areas A specialised razor designed for sensitive areas gives a smoother shave with fewer ingrown hairs or irritation.
▪ Apply oil after shaving Using oil post-shave hydrates the skin, prevents ingrown hairs, and reduces dark spots or hyperpigmentation.
▪ Carry baby wipes during menstruation Baby wipes are essential for freshening up during periods, especially when access to water is limited, ensuring better hygiene.
▪ Incorporate dry brushing Dry brushing exfoliates dead skin, improves circulation, and leaves the skin baby-soft and radiant. Do not dry brush your skin if you have eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea or any skin condition similar.
▪ Always shampoo your hair twice The first shampoo removes surface oils and build-up, while the second deep-cleans the scalp and hair for optimal cleanliness.
▪ Use unscented soap with a washcloth Unscented soap paired with a washcloth or sponge provides a gentle but thorough cleanse, avoiding irritation from harsh chemicals.
▪ Include glycolic acid in skincare Glycolic acid exfoliates and removes dead skin cells, reducing body odour by keeping pores clean and clear.
▪ Don’t rinse out toothpaste completely Retain some fluoride by avoiding a full rinse after brushing to strengthen enamel and protect teeth longer.

i was saving up for a tattoo but ur answer to that ask where u mention the stuff that goes into ink made me go down a rabbit hole and now i think i wont be getting a tattoo until ink is regulated... aside from the ink being full of stuff i know im allergic to my family is very cancer prone and im reading that tattoo ink may have a correlation with increased skin cancer risk. i feel like this should be talked about more. feeling sad about it but im glad u mentioned something about it otherwise i wouldnt have known
Yeah, as someone who's allergic to everything, has eczema, and a family history of cancer, I feel that. If you have a good artist whom is open to using inks that are either carcinogen-free or at least better tolerated it's not the end of the world, and I never want to discourage someone from doing something they want to do, especially art-related! That being said, I had some similar asks so I'm gonna use yours as a quick info-dump, so I apologize in advance!
I do want to be VERY clear: this is NOT a 'tattoos bad' wall of text, it's a 'art good but hold businesses and individuals accountable because right now everything is a trust system' wall of text. Everyone I know and love has tattoos, I just happen to be an artist who was pulled into the industry fairly out-of-the-blue 8 years ago, and have gotten to learn the intimate ins-and-outs of it because of that. This isn't ragebait, and it is strictly my reasons as to why I feel that the industry could benefit from some regulation and standardized education now that it is a very, very mainstream industry that the majority of individuals in my age range engage with but aren't privy to the details on. If you love tattoos, great! If you don't love tattoos, great! If you're an experienced professional in the industry, this is all stuff you've probably bounced off of once or twice, and can understand why it's frustrating.
The tattoo industry sorta has had one foot in the super lax, counterculture boat while also having the other one solidly in the corporate, capitalist yacht. While the studies that come out of the industry relating cancer risk to the ink content always stick strictly to skin cancer risk being 'negligible', it's important to note that the ink isn't going into your skin - it's going into the fatty tissue below the skin. The ink breaks down in that tissue over time, and gets filtered out by your body - the contents of the ink aren't on the top of the skin, they're being filtered through your other organs or pushed up to your skin. (I know this is an ultra-super-simplified version of what happens, but I don't want to give everyone a migraine with details.) I work with a ton of inks, paints, and pigments, and the pigments that are used in some inks aren't stuff I'd willingly handle with my bare hands, but I'm paranoid about that stuff. However,I absolutely wouldn't eat any of the pigments that are used in the creation of the ink used for tattoos, and none of it is stuff that I'd want in my liver or kidneys. I have a parent who's had cancer for 10+ years, so it's a pet topic of mine that I've had the opportunity to discuss with professionals whom work in the industry. The few times I've gotten to chat about inks used in tattoos, the response is the same as the public PR team's response. The standard on-record response is to cite skin cancer risks, and when asked about other types of cancer, specifically liver/kidney/reproductive, often it is deflected to some version of 'our customers are risk takers who live life on the edge, and don't conform to societal norms, and that demographic always has a higher rate of cancer.' The reality is that they intentionally don't test for that, because best case is the optics that they were selling something that they weren't that confident in, and the worst case response is a wall of lawsuits. Obviously, all that sounds ominous and shit, and while I doubt there's anything massive hidden there, my problem is that the corporate side regulates itself, which in the history of everything has never ended in ethical decisions and only ones that increase profit margins. When pressured, however, companies will lean into the 'it's tattoos man, don't be a downer' - but these are large, industrial corporations, not the dude down the street making art out of their garage. They have the money to test their own products and choose not to.
The other half of the problem is that foot in the pseudo-counterculture, lax, independent artist culture. There's no barriers to entry, minimal qualifications required, and so you can have people who have no business putting permanent ink on folks doing just that, en masse. Tattoos became a major fashion thing in the last 10 years, so we saw an explosion of tattoo studios with literally no experience in the industry kicking out tattoos. These same folks don't have experience in the arts (in a lot of cases) so they'll lift someone else's work as theirs to get a sale, which leads to someone having a design that may be associated with a group they do not wish to be associated with (IE: ultra-nationalist found out that his reaper design was from some ACAB shit I made, and he was not thrilled, even though I thought it was hilarious.) Additionally, a lot of the more questionable studios engage in super controversial sales tactics pressuring clients to move forward on projects when they aren't 100% comfortable (ie: you don't get to see the tattoo until you're in the chair, strictly to save time as to maximize profit on a permanent work of art, and to avoid your client changing their mind.) Back when I was starting out, a lot of the freelance work I received was coming up with designs to help fix those botched jobs, while sending folks to a credible artist, so I had the unfortunate experience of hearing every nightmare story ever. However, like any market that was opening up to big mainstream cashflow, the market ended up flooded so the skill of the average tattoo artist fell like a brick. Only in the last 6 months has the bubble popped with a ton of studios have had trouble staying afloat because the industry reached critical mass. I literally have more options in tattoo studio within a 10 block radius than grocery stores. Mind you, I'm talking about the large group of studios that engage with these practices, and that does in no way mean that I am specifically talking about your studio or your artist. If you work in the industry, you know the folks I'm talking about, and I'm so sorry they make your job so much harder.
This all comes together into a major shitstorm: under-qualified individuals offering a subpar product driving down prices, shoving out the actual qualified professionals, while operating in a legal gray area. Combined with the industrial ink companies that aren't keen on giving straight answers about the contents of their product leaves the entire industry in an absolutely dogwater spot, getting the worst of both worlds. This is not touching on the disgusting potential abuse of power that some individuals choose to take advantage of within these situations. With literally any small amount of regulation, the entire art form would be infinitely easier to get for individuals without having to do a background check on the entire operation. I hope that answers some questions, and I apologize for any typos in my incomprehensible wall of text!

Hugging Dethklok Hcs
depending on how im feeling after posting this i think i might make a second part including side characters (likely the second post will contain charles abigail and knubbler !! and maybe even some smaller characters that i feel deserve more love) anyways uhuhuh first official MTL post except it.. actually isnt, ive written for knubbler and the dethklok minute host before so yeah very nervous about this since im still trying to find my footing in how i wanna write the characters, so heads up that this might be VERY OOC and what better prompt to do than do one of my "i dont know what to write" ones written with reader as their partner vague mentions of like. sexual stuff but nothing explicit, i still wish to keep this blog as sfw as possible, really just implications of it than anything also some characters had bonus hcs of cuddling so uhuhuh
Tumblr media
NATHAN:
built like a mattress, though that can mean anything since not all mattresses are made the same... hmm.. have you ever hugged/cuddled one of those tiny headed kingdom plushies? very firm but not comfortable, i think thats what nathan feels like, but perhaps just a smidge softer. but how would nathan feel? i mean hes very protective of you, and being able to hold you gives him a moment to keep you close. not very affectionate otherwise, but this is nice. definitely the type to do hugs from behind, especially if theres someone trying to flirt with you
PICKLES:
short so theres a good chance youre around his height if not taller and he may or may not feel things about that (both negative and positive but lets save that for another post as i fully intend on keeping this sfw), i always thought pickles of being physically affectionate so him having a hand on you is a common occurrence. probably takes the opportunity to whisper something in your ear, usually something dirty or something incoherent with him being drunk or otherwise under the influence. oh yeah i can easily see him being the type to swing his limbs over his partner while he sleeps and trapping them there
SKWISGAAR:
maybe im cooking something doodoo, but i feel like skwisgaar may or may not struggle with non-sexual stuff, like being purely romantic and innocent with no intent to get your pants off is foreign to him. i whole heartedly believe the reason hes so sexual is due to being in dethklok and being huge, but also because of his mother constantly bringing new people home. so in the beginning he might actually be tense in giving you affection, definitely going to need to take some time. very cold, skinny people tend to be colder ive noticed so totally you shouldnt take this as an excuse to hold him closer (winks)... i DO think he would also have a hand on you a lot of the time like pickles, whether or not those hands have other motives is up in the air
MURDERFACE:
make him take a shower first/j
okay jokes aside, this man is so starved for attention and affection, but he would never ever EVER say it. you guys could be 100% fully alone in bum fuck no where and he still wouldnt say it. but its definitely there in his actions and body language. i think hes warm, and his skin is a little... i mean he canonically has dry skin with eczema, and while i dont have eczema i know what having that dry scaly skin feels like... perhaps we could tie in some self care with the reader helping murderface take better care of himself? i mean it would be one hell of a fight to get him to try but i think its do-able.. tight hugger, kind of lets his arms linger before sliding them down when you eventually pull away. wish i had more but i think murderface is the type to deny affection whilst also deeply craving it
TOKI:
probably the easiest to hug in terms of getting him to accept it, actually i think he might be the most likely to initiate one alongside pickles. very warm, though he sometimes hugs you a little too tight and might even tug you back in if you try to pull away before hes ready. full body cuddles into you when you guys sleep/nap together, arms and legs keep you in place so... good luck trying to slip away before he wakes up. i like to think he fiddles with your hair, too, though im unsure if that fits with his character... i think that, despite still having a love for all things brutal he still likes these smaller moments of just. affection. very clingy and possessive though so keep that in mind, i think he would hold you and physically try to pull you away if someone tries to flirt with you; a lot less subtle than when nathan does it

shiggy headcanons: eczema edition ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡
from a person with eczema who felt very seen ily tenko shimura you’re my real one
also if you don’t know what eczema is it’s a skin condition that makes your skin hella dried out all the time it doesn’t retain its moisture and with dry skin comes an itchy hell *scratches neck cutely*
◦ he smells musty and stinks, dabi’s smoke and his dust from decay make him smell ashy and smokey, like cigarette butts
◦ he doesn’t smile or make lots of expressions because it makes his dry ass skin crack and it hurts to do it
◦ he scratches his hands and fingers a lot especially when he’s playing games
◦ spinner notices shiggy scratching his hands during games and tries to minimize it by distracting him and shoving him lightly when he sees him reaching to itch
◦ spinner gifted him a small container of lotion that he saw in an abandoned store and shiggy uses it all up on his hands (he’s too afraid to try on his face because it burned the first time he tested on his cheek) when he runs out he’s too prideful to ask spinner if he has more and tries looking for the same brand in other stores
◦ he has bad dandruff and his scalp is full of bleeding and cracked skin and he tried to be funny once by ruffling his hair and saying ‘hey it’s the first snow’ (only twice was like ‘oi shigaraki that’s pretty funny’ then his other side said ‘ew that was gross’ and shiggy never tried it again. everyone else was dumbfounded and silent)
◦ the league doesn’t have easy access to showering and normal hygiene practices but shiggy would avoid showering and washing his hands anyways because it burns his skin
◦ toga made him wash his hands once and used hot water and it felt so good but after he dried his hands his skin felt 10x worse so he avoids water
◦ hates winter because it dries out his skin and hates summer because it makes him sweaty and more prone to itching and it irritates his skin
◦ toga tried to get him skincare products before but they burned him on the first use and he never tried again
◦ picks his dead skin (lips and hangnails around fingers) and eats it
◦ chews his nails and eats the dirt (guilty pleasure)
◦ actually hates having long nails because the itching is worse with them but he doesn’t have nail clippers available
◦ rubs at his dead skin absentmindedly because it feels satisfying
◦ when he was younger and his dead skin flaked onto mon chan’s fur, he would gently brush it off and try to avoid getting it on mon chan
◦ scratched off his eyebrows because the itching was so bad
◦ sometimes wished dabi had ice instead to numb his skin
◦ has had the urge multiple times to ask dabi to burn all his skin off during particularly bad eczema episodes
◦ he always wakes up with skin flakes all over his pillow and has to flip it over to the other side everyday (someone get him clean sheets pls)
◦ has trouble sleeping because his itching keeps him up
◦ dabi notices him itching himself in his sleep because it’s loud as hell and shoves him to make him stop (not out of the goodness of his heart it’s because the noise is annoying as fuck) (it helps a little anyways)
◦ desperately wants to buy skins for his lol main but doesn’t have a credit card to pay for it (he steals from someone off the street and puts them in generational debt with transactions from lol)
◦ scratches his neck furiously when he loses a game and can’t stop
◦ when he gets super regeneration it nullifies his eczema and gives him relief but erasure taking away regeneration also takes away the relief of not having irritated itchy skin so that’s why he gets extra pissed at aizawa and holds a grudge (so cool eraser!)
◦ the reason he gets mad easily is because his skin being itchy all the time makes him super irritable
◦ when he reawakens in the new body he feels more level headed and in control and he doesn’t have to worry about his skin, loves being able to show off his new body that’s not riddled with scratches and cracked skin

God I wish my body were normal. I have two chronic lifelong conditions for which there is no cure: hypermobility and eczema. Hypermobility means my tendons in my joints are extra stretchy and my joints can overextend very easily leading to random dislocations, swelling, pain, and stiffness. Eczema means I get itchy, dry, painful rashes with welts all over my body that oozes, cracks, bleeds, swells, peels, and has a tendency to get infected very easily. And since both of those things are worsened by hormones, menstruation makes them worse.
Guess who started her period a week early.
Full body swelling and pain, yaaaaaaaay I'm so happy this is my life for the next week and that I can barely move. 🙃
Wanna see my gnarly-ass eczema-riddled arm? Don't say I didn't warn you if you click and regret it. It's not pretty.
Tumblr media
Now imagine this on my entire body. Yes, even there. I am miserable right now.
And believe me, it's redder and looks worse in real life.

Medicinal Remedies
Medicinal Remedies-- This is a LONG one!
NOTE: This article is about 20 of my favorite medicinal healing herbs to grow in most garden areas and types of soil. There are 100’s more, though, that I just couldn’t include because of space. Enjoy this rundown of 20 of my favorites.
Tumblr media
1) Calendula:
Calendula is one of my top five favorite herbs of all time. It's sunny yellow or orange face can't help but make me smile. In summer time, it grows like crazy, just about anywhere, and like other flowers, the bees love it.
Calendula has some super skin healing and strengthening properties, and I always have some infusing in olive oil in a sunny window for use in salves, soaps, and other body products.
Calendula is also edible, and it's so fun to toss some blooms in your salad! It really brightens things up and adds excellent color. I love Calendula.
Calendula just makes you smile.
2) Cayenne:
Here is another herb I think should be in every garden. Cayenne is a very hot and pretty red pepper with some excellent culinary uses for adding spice to foods.
It's also great for helping with circulatory problems, can be used to help stop bleeding since it's a hemostatic herb, and has been shown to be useful in helping slow or even stop a heart attack until help can arrive.
It's also a very attractive plant, and the bright red of the pepper is just gorgeous mixed Into the dark green of the plant's leaves. This is one herb you should definitely grow if you can, and have handy in your herbal medicine chest.
Cayenne grows like crazy, especially in warmer climates. They dry well, too.
3) Chamomile:
Like Lavender, what would an herbal garden be without sweet Chamomile? It's honey scent and sweet taste are an absolute pleasure. Besides that....Chamomile is a popular relaxant and mild sedative herb.
Need to de-stress? Drink a bit of Chamomile tea!
Chamomile is also useful as an anti-inflammatory, as it contains high levels of azulene. It helps with pain relief, including for arthritis. If you are heading to bed and are bothered by mild pain, try drinking some chamomile tea! In one clinical study, this helped 10 out of 12 people fall into a restful sleep. (Gladstar)
Growing Chamomile can be tricky in very hot climates. It likes full sun, but a cooler climate. Chamomile is also best grown in less maintained soil and doesn't need the rich fertilization other plants require.
4) Chickweed:
Chickweed is another one of those "weeds" that is completely misunderstood and has some excellent medicinal qualities.
It's Latin name, (stellaria) means "star," and that is because of its small, pretty starlike white flowers. It's easy to grow, and has many uses.
Chickweed supports liver and kidney health due to its high nutrition and diuretic properties. It's also wonderful in salves for healing skin issues, including rashes, eczema, and very dry skin.
Chickweed is a great diuretic and blood purifier.
5) Dandelion:
This prolific weed, as some people see when they notice Dandelion in their yard, is actually a powerfully helpful medicinal herb! Dandelion is terrific for your liver and kidney health, having diuretic properties.
It's also an edible plant! You can roast the roots and add it to teas and even your coffee for a delicious flavor that also packs a healthy punch. The leaves can be eaten in salads and other foods.
6) Feverfew:
Feverfew has lovely white flowers and at least where I live, is rather invasive. I don't mind, though, because it has a great number of medicinal benefits.
As its name connotes, feverfew is helpful with reducing fevers. Most recently, however, feverfew has become rather well-known for helping with migraines, both preventing and reducing the intensity and time.
One of my favorite teas to provide for people who suffer from migraines is: 1 part feverfew, 1 part spearmint, and 1 part lemon balm. This is a soothing, nervine combination, that along with the powers of feverfew, can be used as daily tonic.
Feverfew is also great for minor bug bites. Just apply the tincture topically. Since it has mild pain relieving properties, it will help with the discomfort too.
7) Garlic:
Garlic is one of the BEST all around medicinal herbs anyone can grow, in my opinion. It's useful for treating colds, flus, sore throats, and digestive issues. Garlic boosts the immune system by increasing and stimulating the production of white blood cells.
Garlic is antiseptic, anti-bacterial, and vermifuge (kills parasites). It is also useful as a blood purifier and helps promote healthy circulation. It may also help regulate blood sugar levels in those with type 2 diabetes.
Besides all these wonderful benefits, garlic is delicious! It's added to so many foods and dishes because of the flavor it imparts. Granted, using garlic medicinally is different than in culinary uses, but if you really want to "eat thy medicine," as Hippocrates famously stated, garlic is a great place to start.
8) Ginger:
Oh, what would the herb world be without Ginger? This sweet and spicy pungent herb is actually a rhizome, not a root, as many believe. The useful part grows under ground, so is often confused.
Ginger is stimulating and is a great additive for teas, tinctures, and fermented foods, as well as culinary uses. Ginger is anti-inflammatory, decongesting, and increases circulation, promoting warmth. Ginger is also excellent for flatulence and stomach issues, including nausea.
Ginger likes a tropical environment---hot and humid. Therefore, unless you live down South, Ginger would most likely need to be grown in a green house.
9) Lavender:
What would the herbal world be without lavender? It's good for SO many things. Lavender smells wonderful, the bees love it, it's great for medicinal uses, AND it's a gorgeous flower. Lavender is useful for air freshening and cleaning the air or freshening closed up places such as drawers. It's popular in sachets for this reason.
Lavender is actually relatively hardy, growing well in Zones 5 through 8. If you are in a colder zone, be sure to plant your lavender in an area where it will get plenty of sunshine and be as warm as possible. If your winters are rough, you'll need to provide your lavender with some type of protection, especially from harsh winds.
I had some planted in pots here in the mountains, and it did very well all summer long. Even through snows, it was fine. But we get wind speeds over 125 miles an hour at times, and lavender just didn't last through that. Not much will, I guess.
Lavender is useful for so many things---AND it smells incredible.
10) Lemon Balm:
Lemon Balm....I LOVE this species of mint. It smells lovely, the bees love it, and it grows well nearly everywhere. Lemon Balm has a pleasant lemony taste and is a great additive in herbal teas, both for the nutritive value as well as the soothing nature and relaxing effects it has on the body.
11) Marshmallow:
This probably isn't included in too many herbalist's garden lists, but I think Marshmallow is seriously necessary. It's a demulcent and soothing herb, and it complements "hotter" herbs very well. It also soothes inflammation in mucous membranes and is one of my favorite herbs to use for allergy blends or teas for any kind of inflammation in the body for this reason.
Marshmallow is an upright plant, similar to a very small hollyhock. In fact, if you can grow hollyhocks where you are---you can use it pretty much interchangeably with Marshmallow as their chemical constituents are very similar.
The flowers are light pink and very pretty, too. The entire plant is edible and useful for medicinal purposes. Go ahead and throw a few flowers into your salad for a beautiful and surprising presentation!
Marshmallow is a demulcent anti-inflammatory. Plus, it's pretty.
12) Mullein:
This is yet another plant many see as just a weed, but has some truly wonderful medicinal qualities. Mullein is a plant that grows from a rosette of fuzzy large leaves into a tall stalk (sometimes as high as 7 feet tall) and is covered with yellow flowers in mid-summer.
Mullein does best in full sun, with lots of water, in cooler areas. It grows really well in the creek beds up here in our mountains, but I've heard it is very common in almost all places. It's worth trying to cultivate, in my opinion, if you don't have it growing naturally in your area.
Mullein is one of the best herbs you can use to support and heal the respiratory system and illnesses that affect the lungs, sinuses, and breathing. It's useful as a tea, tincture, and the large leaves can be used in an emergency to cover a poultice.
In my opinion, Mullein is the premier herb for respiratory issues.
13) Oregano
Oregano seems to be the bane of many gardener's existence. They plant it, and it just goes crazy. I can't tell you how many neighbors, family members, and friends have given me Oregano from their yards over the years! And I'm glad to have it! The thing with Oregano is you have to know how to manage it.
Oregano is a fabulous culinary herb, and if you have ever had pizza or marinara sauce, then you've tasted this delicious Mediterranean herb. Oregano grows best in warm, dry climates, but I have found in my experience that it is quite hardy and can survive winter lows in the single digits (at least it does in my yard).
Oregano (also known as Mountain of Joy in Greek) has some excellent medicinal uses, including having anti-viral, anti-biotic, anti-fungal properties, as well as being very high in anti-oxidants. It's a great skin care herb and also a digestive aid.
Oregano can be used in many forms, too: As a tincture, an herbal infused oil, eaten in foods, and as an essential oil. These all have different strengths, potencies, and uses.
The tincture is an easy way to use the herb medicinally, along with making or using in an herbal tea.
14) Peppermint:
Super easy to grow just about anywhere, Peppermint is a spreading perennial that has the propensity to take over your garden if you allow it! It's spicy, pungent scent is well known to just about everyone, since it's a popular culinary additive in many foods and candies.
Medicinally, Peppermint is useful for aiding digestion and getting rid of flatulence (gas). It has mild anti-spasmodic properties, so if you are experiencing cramps, especially digestive types or menstrual cramps, it can be very helpful.
15) Plantain:
Here is another weed that many people find repugnant, but that is actually an incredibly useful medicinal herb!
According to Rosemary Gladstar, Plantain grows everywhere, and if you invite it in, it will definitely show up.
Plantain is great for liver health, detoxifying and cleansing the blood, and drawing out toxins. I like to infuse it in oil for use in healing salves.
Like Dandelion, this easy to find weed is edible and useful.
16) Rosemary:
Rosemary is a famous culinary herb, and is great for use on red meats and very pungent dishes. Besides this, rosemary has been proven to be helpful for the brain, especially memory functions.
It's high in anti-oxidants, and has mild analgesic (pain relief) properties. Rosemary is a stimulant herb, and is helpful with circulation and low blood pressure. People with high blood pressure need to exercise caution using rosemary medicinally.
Rosemary grows best in hot, dry climates and is native to the Southern European countries.
Besides being a pungent and delicious culinary herb, rosemary provides medicinal qualities and enhances memory.
17) St. John's Wort:
St. John's Wort is a misunderstood plant, in my opinion. It went through a popular phase a few years ago and was touted as being the new natural anti-depressant. St. John's Wort can absolutely help with feelings of mild depression, sadness, grief, and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), but it's not a cure-all.
Important to know---St. John's Wort can interact with certain drugs, so be sure you discuss usage with your doctor (as you should with any of these herbs mentioned).
St. John's Wort is also great for neuralgia, and I personally use it as part of my back pain and sciatica regimen with excellent results. I also use it in a tincture form to lift my spirits if I'm feeling down.
Besides all the medicinal qualities of St. John's Wort, it's a really pretty plant. You won't be able to grow it in a super hot area, however, at least it's unlikely. I tried growing it in Las Vegas, and it was a total fail. However, it does well here in the mountains in full sun or partial shade and the cooler climate.
One of my favorite ways to prepare St. John's Wort is as an herbal infused oil. The medicinal species (H. perforatum) releases bright red juices into the oil, creating the most lovely infused oil.
Another safety note for the garden: St. John's Wort has been shown to have potential for phototoxicity, especially in grazing animals if they eat too much. Just be aware and watch what your pastured animals eat.
St. John's Wort is a wonderful healing herb that positively affects the emotions.
18) Thyme:
Thyme, in my opinion, is one of the best plants to use in your garden. It attracts bees, smells lovely, and is incredibly useful for medicinal purposes. It's a small, spreading herb (although some species will grow upright) that is fairly hardy, so if you have rough winters, it may do just fine---you'll be seeing it again in the Spring, with it's pretty scented purple flowers.
Many herbalists forget all about using thyme as a preventative medicinal herb or for helping heal quickly from colds and flus---but it has been shown to fight off colds.
It also has disinfectant properties, and can be used as an effective wash for skin infections or as great sore throat rinse. For medicinal purposes, Thymus vulgaris or Thymus citriodorus (Lemon Thyme) are the best to use.
19) Valerian:
This stately flowering plant can grow to about four feet tall and has lacy white flower clusters. Not only is it a lovely addition to your garden, but it is very useful. It's a strong but safe sedative and is very useful for helping with anxious feelings, sleep issues, and pain relief.
Contraindications: Valerian has the opposite effect on some people, so if you are using it for the first time, do so on a the eve of a day that won't affect you much. These folks are rare, but there are definitely some that don't tolerate it well.
One of nature's best gifts---Valerian is lovely and it is an excellent safe sedative.
20) Yarrow:
Yarrow has many tiny flowers that grow in bunches, and feathery grayish leaves. It's a very pretty plant for your garden. Besides, the parts that grow above ground (leaves, stems, flowers) have medicinal purposes and have been used for thousands of years.
Yarrow is a vulnerary, hemostatic herb. Besides helping with healing and clotting of wounds, yarrow is good for helping reduce fevers, hay fever, and fighting colds. As a fever reducer, it is important to note that yarrow induces sweating, so if the person already has a hot fever, yarrow is probably not the best choice to use.

Channeled message: 1/20/24
You feel tucked away within yourself at the moment. You want to do something, say something, be productive but you can’t. You feel sleepy, fatigue, or you have a need to retire away, lie around all day or take time to “recover” I’m getting imagery of being in the womb and long periods of development or sleep. Just as a baby in the womb is in a sleep like state for the nine months while they grow while the entire world is going on around them and their loved ones are preparing for their arrival. Something is coming for the collective. You may have reached a different level of your life here after a long couple of years of hardship and these past couple years being the highest point of it all. Now you’re healing but in healing you need to rest or you need to be able to heal fully without being interrupted. Spirit says don’t beat yourself up trying to run around and do everything because you feel idle or because your nervous system is kicked up or you’re in the state of full survival or auto pilot that you’ve had to be in these past couple years. Spirit says put your weapons down, put all ten wands down. Some of the burdens no longer belong to you or aren’t for you to hold any longer. Your skin may also feel itchy there’s something here about itchiness that’s heavily significant both literally and figuratively. There’s an internal itch you can’t reach in terms of what you feel pulled to do and can’t do, an internal itch you can’t reach in terms of where you feel called to go or what you want for yourself or wish for yourself as life as you know it isn’t in that place and you just can’t reach it. But you can smell it, you can taste it. It’s near. Again I’m getting this imagery of a baby in the womb, the baby is protected by the mother, worlds away yet the whole entire world is just outside of where they lie. Their parents may play music for them, they hear voices and sounds, they faintly see shadows and movement, they taste what the mother tastes. Someone has had an eczema outbreak or has a rash. Someone is having headaches or dreams they can’t explain. You feel like you need to crack your knuckles but you can’t or crack your back but you can’t. You’ve been running cold and then hot frequently. You want some air. This is so significant I got this yesterday as well someone wants to feel cool air or cool water. It might be winter where you are, you’re avoiding cool things due to lingering discomfort the cold in an already cold climate. The feet are significant as well. Someone wants to go barefoot but can’t or has been barefoot a lot recently. Someone wants to put their toes in the dirt, the sand, the water.
I stopped for a second and went to Instagram and I saw an enfamil advertisement. Enfamil multivitamin and iron drops, they were saying that babies need regular vitamin intake to grow and they recommended mixing it in food, in bottles, or having the baby take it by mouth like a regular supplement. Someone needs to nurture their spirit, their bodies. You could be feeling foggy brained, or forgetful lately as well. The mother is significant, the home, there’s conflict in your home or changes in your home or something is going on with your mother or there’s something significant about your mother or motherhood. Someone wants a child or has baby fever.
