Sirius Black x reader
Set during the order of the Phoenix.
Context: Sirius believed that she died all those years ago but she didn’t.
••
The first time Sirius saw you again, he thought he was hallucinating.
It had been fourteen years. Fourteen years of believing you were dead, of carrying the guilt of your supposed sacrifice like an iron weight around his neck. And yet, here you were, standing in the dimly lit drawing room of 12 Grimmauld Place, flipping through a medical journal like it was just another day.
Remus had warned him had pulled him aside moments before the meeting started and whispered, "She's alive, Sirius." He hadn’t believed it. Couldn’t. But then he walked in, and there you were.
Your head lifted at the sound of approaching footsteps, and for a moment, the entire world stopped.
“Sirius?”
His breath caught in his throat. He had imagined this moment a hundred times in Azkaban, in the years since his escape, and in every version of it, he had prepared himself to break. But the real thing? It shattered him.
“It’s you, he breathed, barely above a whisper. “It’s really you.”
Your expression wavered, something unreadable flickering in your eyes before you took a cautious step forward.
“I” you started, but he was already moving, crossing the space between you in three long strides before wrapping his arms around you. He felt you stiffen at first, but then you melted into him, your arms clutching his tattered robes like you were afraid he might disappear.
He buried his face in your hair, inhaling the scent of lavender and parchment, and for the first time in over a decade, something in his chest unclenched.
“Fourteen years,” he murmured, his voice hoarse. “Fourteen bloody years, and I thought—” His grip on you tightened. “Peter told me you were dead.”
You stiffened at the name. “Of course he did.”
He pulled back just enough to look at you. There were lines around your eyes now, subtle, but there. Time had changed you both, stolen so much. But in this moment, none of it mattered.
“How?” he asked, desperation in his voice. “Where have you been?”
You exhaled shakily, stepping back slightly. “It’s… it’s a long story.”
“We have time,” Remus interjected gently from the doorway, his expression a mix of relief and sorrow.
You met his gaze, then looked back at Sirius. “I was taken,” you admitted. “By Death Eaters. They wanted information about the Order, about you, James, Lily everyone.”
Sirius felt a cold fury settle in his bones.
“I held out as long as I could,Sirius. I wasn’t strong enough.” Your voice trembled slightly, and he reached for your hand, squeezing it reassuringly. “Eventually, they stopped interrogating me. I thought they were going to kill me, but instead, they left me in some abandoned safehouse, guarded, but alive. Then, suddenly, one day, they were just gone. No explanation, no warning. I barely made it out. By the time I got back, James and Lily were dead, Peter was missing, and you”
She swallowed, squeezing her eyes shut.
“You were in Azkaban.”
Sirius clenched his jaw. He could only imagine how lost you must have felt.
“I ignored everyone who was left,”she continued. “I had nothing left. No one. So I disappeared. I trained as a healer and buried myself in work.” A hollow laugh escaped you. “It was easier to be dead.”
Sirius shook his head. “You were never dead to me.”
You looked up at him then, your eyes glassy with unshed tears, and he saw it—the pain, the years of loss, the same grief he had carried for so long.
A memory flickered in his mind
Flashback: One Year After Hogwarts
The summer air was warm, carrying the scent of firewhiskey and grass as you lay beside Sirius, gazing up at the stars.
“I still don’t know how you talked me into this,” you murmured, turning your head to look at him.
He smirked, lazily twirling a strand of your hair around his finger. “Oh, come on, love. A midnight flight on my motorbike? What kind of Marauder would I be if I didn’t show you the finer things in life?”
You laughed, shaking your head. “Reckless. That’s what you are.”
His smirk softened, his gaze turning serious as he studied you. “Reckless? Maybe. But I know what I want.”
You raised an eyebrow. “And what’s that?”
“You,” he said simply. “Always you.”
Sirius exhaled sharply, pulling himself back to the present. He looked at you now, standing before him, not a ghost, not a memory, but real. Alive.
“I thought I lost you,” he murmured.
You reached for his hand, intertwining your fingers. “You didn’t.”
And for the first time in fourteen years, Sirius allowed himself to believe it.

I know the idea that ‘no one at all shipped Remus and Tonks before HBP’ is a popular statement in the marauders fandom these days
… but, like, are you prepared to find out that that’s not true??

So I decided to play Ace Attorney specifically because I heard the developers/game producers/whoever was in charge of that found out people ship Phoenix and Miles and proceeded to amp up the flirting, right? Because the first game had them kind of gayish? Right?

my favorite version of 'how rich are the potters' is that fleamont was nouveau riche, made a lotttt of money like tech entrepreneur levels of money....and then James blew most of it supporting the order of the phoenix, which was likely funded primarily by its members. in fact maybe part of the reason James was recruited was for his money??as well as for other qualities of course. Sirius as well for whatever alphard's inheritance was. because the order has a lot shallower pockets than the death Eaters--note the difference between the weasleys and the malfoys ---and order members seem to either need to work or need to be paid by the order to do order work bc they don't have jobs (since being a paramilitary is like a full time job lol). some of the death eaters are extremely wealthy and likely subsidize the others, while the order seems to be much less broadly wealthy. in fact I also like to think second war sirius spent a lot of his money on the order as well, as recompense for bellatrix's role in the death eaters. so Harry is not actually that rich <3

they joined the order of the phoenix at 18 and were gently told it would be a good idea to write their wills, just in case. so they sat, teenagers around a table with quills over parchments and a trembling silence. sirius made a feeble joke but at the expression on lily's face and the shake of his own hand, remus gave him a look that told him now was not the time to lighten the mood. and they all cried a little that night, not because they regretted joining, not because they were scared, but because they were only 18

James Potter x Fem!Slytherin!Reader
Next Part Series Masterlist
Summary: In which James Potter is beyond shocked to see you introduced as the newest Order member. After all, to him, you’re nothing but a cruel, cold, pureblooded Slytherin
Word Count: 1.2K
Warnings: House stereotyping/prejudice (I think that's it, if not, let me know please!)
A/N: The inspiration for this came while I was reading @ellecdc's Sirius Black x Reader series called Come Back, Be Here and it was such an amazing read! Go read it if you haven't already! <33
───※ ·❆· ※───
The Order of the Phoenix, a secret society founded by the Headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore, was gathered once again in another secret location. All the members were seated in their respective seats, looking at the Headmaster to begin speaking.
“Thank you all for coming on such short notice.” Dumbledore said, his voice bouncing off the walls, “I received a tip that revealed a death eater meeting is to take place tonight, not too far from Diagon Alley.” He said. “I will have to arrange a few members to be sent to scout out the meeting, but before that, I have an important announcement.”
Everyone in the room exchanged glances, a nervousness settling for what could be bad news to be revealed.
“I have recruited a new member, who has already proven what a great asset she will be to our team.”
“Who?” Sirius asked.
Albus Dumbledore gestured towards the door, “Come in.”
You strutted in, dressed in dark clothes with your wand twirling between your fingers as a smile sat upon your lips.
“You!”
And two sets of chairs screeched as two individual wands were directed at you.
“What are you doing here?!” James shouted, Sirius nodding as he backed his best mate.
“Charming. Quite a nice welcome you’ve all prepared for me, Headmaster?”
Dumbledore’s blue eyes twinkled as he directed his gaze from you to the pair of Black and Potter.
“Wands down, boys. Y/n L/n will henceforth be joining us from today.” He said, declaring it to the whole room.
“But, Professor!” James exclaimed, “Y/n’s a Slytherin!”
“Gee, thanks for noticing.”
James glared at you before he turned his eyes onto Dumbledore, his expression having turned into one of desperation. “You can’t possibly let her join!” He practically begged. “They’re all the same, the treacherous snakes can’t be trusted!”
Dumbledore opened his mouth to reply but you beat him to it.
“Well not everyone can be so dimwitted that they would end up in Gryffindor.” You said, making both James and Sirius scowl.
"We are very intelligent, thank you very much!" Sirius interjected, making you shoot a look in return that said are you really though?
“Plus," You continued "Not everyone is the same because even a lion could be a snake in disguise.”
James’ eyebrows furrowed together, “What do you mean to imply by that?”
You merely shrugged, earning a scoff from James.
“That’s enough now.” Professor McGonagall called out sternly, making both you and James fall quiet and take your seats.
“Now that we have exchanged small pleasantries,” James and you loudly scoffed, “Onto the mission. I will be sending out Remus Lupin, James Potter, Benjy Fenwick, Dorcas Meadowes and Y/n L/n.” Dumbledore gently smiled, “This tip was given by Y/n herself and this proves how much of a help Y/n’s addition to the Order will be.
A cry of protest sounded from the young Potter, “Headmaster! How can you believe her? For all we know, she could be sending us into a death trap!” James exclaimed, glaring at you, who stood up with a scoff.
“And that is the exact reason I am coming along! If something happens, I will be there too!”
“Nope! Not happening! Headmaster, I refuse to go if she goes!” James said.
“Mr. Potter,” McGonagall said, “Stop behaving so childish. Miss. L/n will be going and that is final.”
James grumbled and muttered, “Fine.” Knowing by now that Professor McGonagall could get real scary when she needed to be.
“Good, now get going.”
James glared your way to which you only smirked at him, irking the young Potter even more.
*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*
The mission was partially successful as like the tip you had given, there was a death eater meeting. However, they sensed the presence of Order members too early and before you all could even cast a spell their way, they had gone.
Most of the Order had been kind and accepted you in, after all, if Dumbledore trusted you, what reason did they have not to? Well, everyone except for Sirius Black and James Potter.
Especially James Potter.
He loathed you. Simple as that. Your mere existence irked him, like it has been since your shared days at Hogwarts. You always had a way that managed to annoy him, and he had been always determined to get under your skin every time he caught sight of you within the castle.
James wasn’t sure when it started but the interactions between the two of you had become frequent since fifth year. He despised you for being a Slytherin, after all you were just like the rest, acting as if you were superior. But it was also the way you winked at him or that teasing smile that crawled onto your lips. Or how you would speak in a playful tone, flicking your hair over your shoulder every time you walked away or how you twirled your wand teasingly between your nimble fingers.
It infuriated him.
Everything about you annoyed James Potter to no end.
Henceforth, why he was so against your arrival into the Order and how he was determined to get at you every chance he could get.
"Wow, L/n, I'm surprised you haven't melted yet." James said later one evening at an Order meeting.
You cocked an eyebrow at him, "Meaning?"
"Meaning my burning hatred towards you, I was expecting you to have skedaddled out of here."
You gave him a weird look, "Well, that genuinely made no sense, Potter. Now excuse me." You said, returning to your conversation with Remus.
James grumbled, turning towards his best mate, "Moony! Stop hanging out with her!"
Remus let out an exasperated sigh, "Listen, Prongs, I love having you as a friend, truly I do, but if you're going to keep this up, I won't hesitate to hex your arse off the planet."
James stared at his best friend, dumbfounded, while you doubled over laughing.
"Moony," James muttered out hollowly, "How could you? You're my best friend!" He accused Remus in an over dramatic manner.
"And Y/n is also a friend of mine."
This threw James off completely, "She's WHAT!?"
"A friend. She was nothing but polite to me throughout school and I have no reason to be rude to her."
You shot Remus a smile of gratitude before moving your gaze to James, eyes turning cold as you stood up.
"I love to annoy you, truly, but I find it unfair how you're always taking out what most of my house has done against me. Not everyone is the same. I'm not like them." You breathed out, your voice wavering near the end.
James suddenly felt a weird sensation wash over him and he watched you turn around and go.
"Mate," James looked at his friend, his attention snapping from you to Remus, "You don't need to be so mean to her. She has gone through a lot."
James scoffed loudly, "I doubt that."
Remus gave his friend an expression of what looked like pity and exasperation. He patted James on the shoulder before walking away. James stood there, lost within his own thoughts. He shook his head vigorously after a few seconds.
No, to him you were merely one of them. You were from a family of death eaters. You were from the house that turned out all the dark wizards. You were just one of them and nothing more. And he hated them all.
"I hate you." He whispered.
Although, James' perception about you would be challenged as the next Order mission would bring an unexpected twist.

A/N: Ok, so I had this idea of this one scene and I was planning on just a oneshot but instead I decided to go ahead and make a mini series, just so I can write more about James and Reader in this enemies to lovers sort of trope. I've never really written for James before, so I hope you all liked it and stay tuned for the next one because it's going to be good! Love you all and take care! <33
Love, Serina ❤

I keep seeing people talking about how Dorcas was killed by Voldemort himself and completely misinterpreting it as “she was so strong and powerful that only he could kill her,” which might’ve been what happened, but I feel like probably wasn’t the case seeing as he’s killed plenty of random people throughout the series and she was only really mentioned that one time.
But there could’ve been some other reason as well, rather than “oh yeah she was just really really powerful.” What if the reason Voldemort targeted Dorcas was because she kept talking to her old friends from Slytherin and making them question their loyalties and whatnot, and had even managed to make a few death eaters drop out of the war? Sure, she was a dangerous enemy to have, but what if another layer of that danger for Voldemort’s side was her way with words?
Imagine Dorcas fighting in the war and seeing her old classmates that she quite literally lived with for seven years fighting against her. Imagine Pandora telling her the reason why she couldn’t bring herself to join the order, despite how much she wanted to help, was because she couldn’t make herself do anything to hurt Evan. Imagine her continuing to fight with all her strength, but then tracking down the death eaters she knew from school just to see if she could talk them out of it.
Evan and Barty stayed, of course. They were loyal to Voldemort till the end but they would always leave her, one of the order’s best duellists, completely unscathed. But others would listen to her, growing more uncertain and starting to hold back more or try to leave the death eaters completely. She was a Slytherin after all. She would’ve had both the ambition and drive to find these death eaters individually, and the cunning in her words to make them question their loyalties.
Maybe Voldemort went after her after Regulus died, because he thought she had something to do with him betraying him, and maybe she actually did. Maybe she had talked to him, even if it was Kreacher that was the turning point, and he had to kill her himself because she could genuinely make them lose the war if she kept doing what she was doing. Maybe the power she had that Voldemort feared so much was the power to turn his own forces on him. The power to destroy his forces without a single weapon or wand.

James would do anything that would make him appear like the hero he always romanticized about being. So joining the Order wasn't that admirable in his case. Lily and Remus are much more braver for that.
In a war, you either pick one side or the other, but you're going to the frontlines no matter what. In the end, I'm sorry, but the way the worldbuilding of Harry Potter is set up doesn't make me see anyone as heroes, just as people who had no choice but to pick a side in a war they couldn't escape from.
This isn't a story where a totalitarian regime is established and people unite to bring it down (like The Hunger Games, for example). Instead, it was just bourgeois fighting against bourgeois to decide who got to set the social norms, but even the most "progressive" ones never made any real reforms. I mean, werewolves remained discriminated against, house-elves were still enslaved, goblins were treated like garbage, giants too… It's a shitty society. So, what exactly was the purpose of the Order? To stop Voldemort from ruling the world? Okay, and...? Wizards treating house-elves as private property isn't much better than discriminating against someone for their blood status. It's an incredibly cynical and hypocritical perspective.
They had no plan for social reform, nor did they care, because the Order and its followers were led by upper-class people or families that were traditionally pureblood and had no problem with non-human beings living in misery—as long as humans were fine, the rest could rot. They weren’t revolutionaries, nor did they seek social justice. They just wanted to maintain their status quo and their personal privileges and interests. It was a war between bourgeois, because J.K. Rowling is a fucking bourgeois who doesn't understand the roots of social issues, and that perspective carries over into her vision of "justice" in her books.
So, sorry, but Lily doesn’t seem heroic to me, and Remus just seems like a completely alienated fool. If I were him, I would have told them all to go to hell. Let’s not forget that the Potters end up dead because they chose Peter over Remus as their Secret Keeper—because Sirius suggested it, since they didn’t trust Remus because he was a werewolf. Could they be any more of your average bourgeois? Seriously, what the hell—
