ʚ♡ɞ 𝕯𝖎𝖌𝖎𝖙𝖆𝖑 𝕰𝖝𝖔𝖗𝖈𝖎𝖘𝖒 𝖙𝖔 𝕰𝖒𝖇𝖔𝖉𝖞 𝖞𝖔𝖚𝖗 𝕭𝖊𝖘𝖙 𝕾𝖊𝖑𝖋 ʚ♡ɞ
I decided to make a series of posts dedicated to mental dieting, even if you're not really into manifestation/law of assumption and you're just into your journey to become your best self.
We spend so much of our time on our phones, tablets or computers that it has become our way of life. Most of the daily content we consume and most of the people we interact with every day come from the internet. We basically consume content like we consume food every day.
We talk about digital detoxing and digital decluttering constantly, but sometimes we have to become extreme to live our best life. We have to be mindful about the content we consume since like I mentioned earlier, we consume it like food and if we can be mindful about the food we consume to nourish our body then we can do the same to nourish our minds and hearts. So basically a digital exorcism is what we need to hold ourselves accountable, including myself.
In fact, I am guilty of this and as soon as I'm done with my own post I'll start doing my own digital exorcism as well to be mindful of my own mental diet since I've been neglecting it for the longest time.
∘•···············•∘ʚ ♡ ɞ∘•················•∘
Here is a list of things to do to start your own digital exorcism with things I've come up with and some ideas I've compiled over the months from reading around:
୨୧ Curate your social media experience.
I know that many people cannot quit social media entirely because nowadays some jobs depend on social media presence, plus social media can be a very nice and positive experience!
The internet should be a safespace for you so curating and being mindful of your content should be a high priority.
Delete people/users and social media that either you don't talk anymore or don't bring positive things into your feed or life.
Engage in content that makes you happy or brings positivity into your life, especially topics that you want to learn or improve so your feed gets filled with those things.
Delete any accounts you have that you don't use or represent a part of your life that reminds you of pain (we all had an emo private account to vent somewhere that either needs to be wiped for a new era or just deleted).
Scroll past things that trigger you without guilt since your mental health has to be the most important thing.
Just put your phone down, think about what you need in your life right now to become your best self or make things better for you mentally and practice mindfulness by curating your experience.
∘•···············•∘ʚ ♡ ɞ∘•················•∘
୨୧ Declutter & Simplify
This sounds very easy but it also can be very exhausting so I advise you to do it on a day off but include some things like skincare or a nice podcast to do it. You have to prepare yourself for this mentally since going down memory lane while doing this can be emotionally draining.
We already mentioned deleting accounts but deleting phone numbers that we no longer engage with is a form of self care, same goes for deleting messages or chat logs.
Leaving Discord servers that are inactive or you no longer engage with. Why keep something like that if you're no longer using them? Out of nostalgia? Honey, don't do this to yourself.
Delete apps or music (especially sad and depressing music!) that no longer serve you. They are taking up a lot of useful space after all.
And in relation to making space, declutter your photo gallery. This can be a rough one since we tend to hoard pictures and hoarding comes from a place of fear. Sit down, be ready to confront yourself, think carefully about how you want to categorize your photos and Konmari everything. Focus mostly on screenshots, pictures that you feel you don't look good in, repeat pictures and pictures that bring you bad memories.
Clean your emails to make space. Unsubscribe to newsletters that you don't need and remove any alerts. Just clean it.
From there, things should look cleaner and simple. I know that some of us are addicted to the chaos but trust me that even if you may feel some regret at first, you'll thank yourself later. Sometimes, your phone is a reflection of the state of your mind after all.
∘•···············•∘ʚ ♡ ɞ∘•················•∘
୨୧ Romanticize your Life!
This is the fun part of the digital exorcism, which is making things easier and prettier!
Redecorate your home page. Put everything in folders and from there you can go crazy! Pretty wallpapers, themes, colors... Anything that your heart desires. You can also apply this to other things, revamp your social media and Pinterest boards for a cleaner and better look.
Go on an account scout mission and follow accounts that align with your thoughts and values of your best self.
Install new apps that bring you joy but also feel purposeful to you. And don't feel guilty about installing things like cute games that can make you pause and relax, just don't abuse screen use!
∘•···············•∘ʚ ♡ ɞ∘•················•∘
୨୧ Other Important Things
Don't forget to update apps and back up what's important. I know that cloud backups are important but don't forget to backup things that may be important in an external hard drive.
Set up a ¨Sleep Mode¨ for your phone so you don't feel tempted by notifications at night and have proper sleep. You can also turn off notifications on some platforms to minimize your anxiety.
Set up ¨Digital Detox Hours¨ every day for you. Reconnect with your hobbies, play with your pet, take a nap, journal, do some prep... Just stay away from your phone. And if you don't have any privacy, it's okay. You can take notes and journal in your phone as well, just stay away from social media. Put on music and relax. This should be time for yourself and your feelings after all.
Don't feel bad about doing regular digital decluttering once you're done with the digital exorcism. This is mostly to start again in a clean slate, if the apps you installed for your clean slate are not to your liking, then you can make a small digital declutter and get rid of them later. It's not a bad thing to try new things because it's part of your self-discovery journey.
∘•···············•∘ʚ ♡ ɞ∘•················•∘
I hope this post was useful and don’t hesitate if you want to share any other advice you may have to improve your digital exorcism!
I might make another post recommending apps I use for manifestation soon in another post.

I’m a shopping addict and have hoarding disorder.
I have gone through multiple phases of trying to declutter my home and this year as a New Years Resolution I decided to really address my spending by doing a very low-key low buy “year” (very low-key…going for the good in a good/better/best outlook on self improvement) by recording everything I spend and categorizing it. Already for this month I know I spent more than I made which is so frustrating, but I know that deficit comes from paying off Christmas purchases and spending for a planned trip in May. And some pet spending involved stocking up using deals that were time sensitive so that should show in my February spending there. So not beating myself up over anything until I have more data.
But I have also been VICIOUS in my decluttering. So far I have 12 full shopping bags plus 3 boxes and a little rolling rack to go to a donation center. And SO MANY old and half used make up and self care products have been put in the trash. And I feel okay about it most of the time (except when I think about how much money I spent but I’m trying to avoid that most of the time…And that’s what the low buy is designed to address going forward).
I live alone…I have 2 full sets of dishes. 1 full set of ~okay drinking glasses I purchased to replace a set I love that had a few glasses that broke…But I still had a fully usable set of 4 loved glasses I could have used. 3 sets of mixing bowls. 3 pie pies (rarely use any). 3 loaf pans (again, rarely use any). Tons of baking accessories for my instant pot - I never bake in my instant pot. 2 in-pot steamer baskets I never use. Metal reusable straws I don’t use because I chipped a tooth on one. All this extra stuff is now boxed/bagged in my hallway ready to go.
I still have more yarn than I will ever need for a lifetime of crochet and more fleece than I will need for a lifetime of making things for my guinea pigs or cats…But that isn’t going anywhere. I want it and will not force myself to part with it. But I won’t be buying more. There’s definitely cost in storing this stuff I don’t need” but I’m going for good and I think I’m there for the moment even with this concession.
Progress!

actually good cleaning hacks from someone who’s been through some shit
Get a steam mop I don’t care how much it is or cheap, just get one
if you have a pet invest in a wet dry vacuum, you will thank me.
get cleaning cloths you actually like the feel of, if you hate microfiber get a cheap set of tea towels and use them instead. Or chop up a dead tee shirt and use that.
plug in vacuums are 2x more powerful than non-plug in vacuums. You trade sucking power for mobility with cordless, so think that over when you get one.
buying a cheap mop every time one gets moldy is cheaper than having to deal with any mold you get from using a moldy mop.
invest in disinfectant/antifungal/antiviral/antibacterial liquid for your laundry, because that stuff makes getting rid of moldy musty musky shit easy. And it cleans your cleaning cloths without getting them greasy or soapy.
to fix “I accidentally left my clothes in the washing machine too long now they smell like mold” thing, you will need antifungal laundry liquid and the literal sun. Wash your clothes on the hottest setting you can with your clothing materials in mind, add the antifungal before you start, let it go for like 2 hours. And put it in the sun to dry. Repeat if it still smells moldy, until it doesn’t anymore, works like a charm!
to clean crystalline dog piss, you will need water, a steam mop, a wet dry vacuum (depending on if it’s in a carpet) dog cleaning spray or vinegar. Basically , rehydrate the piss, clean it up with dog spray or HOT vinegarish water, grab a steam mop and steam it (if not on carpet) and viola it should be okay now.
If it’s in the carpet you will need to rehydrate the piss, then just dowse the piss with water, use the wet dry vacuum to suck up the water, repeat until water comes up clean. Use whatever pet cleaner that’s good on your carpet to get the smell out, Patch test it in the corner of the carpet before you do it on the piss spot, soak up and remaining water from the carpet until it’s dry or blow dry it if you have to. And tada you have a cleaner carpet! The same works for dog shit too.
drain snakes are your best friend if you don’t remember to get the hair out the drain.
have one sponge for wiping down the sink and one for washing your dishes, because sometimes it’s easier to use a sponge to wipe down the sink than a cleaning cloth.
You can put sponges in the dishwasher and it cleans them REALLY WELL, do it everyday if you can.
Invest in a good glass cleaner for glass because when it gets greasy it’s hell.
Koh cleaner will literally cut through grease and oil, and fat. Like it wasn’t even there, if you don’t have the money white vinegar and bi-carbs does the same thing. Though be careful because it’s reactive and might destroy your countertop or pots, just invest in koh your life won’t be the same. (I can clean all the grease off things, that’s how good it works. Plus it doesn’t smell!!!)
Replace your toilet cleaner every 3 months, or make sure you don’t let it fester. That’s more of a hassle than replacing it every now and then.
Get a good dish soap, because you can use it for everything because of how mild it is.
After mopping always steam mop otherwise it will always be streaky or tacky, idk why but steam mops fix this 9/10 times.
there’s more, but I;m too tired.
#-pop#disability#I’m disabled and these hacks have saved me so much suffering and pain#I’m always in pain after cleaning but this way is way easier to clean shit up#STEAM MOPS FOR LIFE#if you have no money for a vacuum there’s these fancy sweeps 🧹 that have 2 discs that move and collect the dust and crumbs they#Are SO WORTH IT#cleaner#cleaning#laundry#cleaning tips#decluttering#mental health stuff#activism stuff

Create a Space to Think and Let Yourself Bloom
You’ve probably heard it before: a clean space equals a clear mind. It might sound cliché, but there’s actual psychological evidence behind it. In a messy environment, there’s always something calling for your attention—a pile to tidy up, an item to put away. This chaos can make it hard to focus or even know where to start. It hampers your ability to process information and concentrate.
Speaking of focus, a recent Netflix movie, The Sixth Triple Eight, tells the incredible true story of a battalion of Black women during World War II. They were tasked with organizing and delivering over 17 million pieces of undelivered mail in Europe. They worked in a repurposed, abandoned school with blacked-out windows and no natural daylight. The building was freezing, poorly lit, and infested with rats.
Despite these challenges, the women got to work. According to Major General Mari K. Eder’s book, their leader, Major Charity Adams, rallied the group by saying:
“I know how this looks, ladies. And I know what you’re probably thinking. But we have a job to do, and we’re going to get it done. Now, let’s get organized.”
And organized they did. What was expected to take six months was accomplished in just three. This is a perfect example of how having a system, even in the messiest of situations, can lead to incredible results.
That said, there are times when a little messiness can fuel creativity. A study published in Psychological Science found that people in messy environments often come up with more creative ideas. Think about it: if you’re knitting a sweater and there are balls of yarn everywhere, you might be inspired to add unique, unexpected designs. The creative chaos can help you think outside the box.
So, how do you balance a clean environment with the need for creative mess? It’s simple: start small. Begin with your room. Make sure everything has a designated place. If you find you don’t have enough storage, get some containers or boxes to help organize. This way, messes don’t pile up—they’re easier to clean.
Once your room feels under control, expand your efforts. Maybe clean the bathroom one week and tackle the kitchen the next. But in my opinion, the room is the most important. Even if the rest of the house is messy, having a clean, personal space to retreat to can do wonders for your mind.
Imagine this: you come back to your tidy room with your yarn neatly stored. You dive into your sweater project, and after a few hours, there are balls of yarn everywhere. You’ve poured your creativity into the design. When you’re done, it takes just a few minutes to clean up because everything has its place. Now, you’re back to your clean space, ready for whatever comes next.
A clean space isn’t about stifling creativity—it’s about setting the stage for your mind to thrive. Let your room be the foundation where creativity and clarity bloom side by side.
1 Corinthians 14:33 (NIV):
"For God is not a God of disorder but of peace."

That bad relationship, that job you can't stand, that college major that's not all you thought it would be, those old beliefs, those coping methods that create more problems than they solve, those past mistakes, that grudge, that clutter you've been holding onto "just in case," that unnecessary guilt and shame, whatever it is. It's time to let it go.

Don’t listen to the propaganda! Throw pillows and bedspreads and other accessories are amazing! They make me look forward to making the bed in the morning because the result is so pretty. I haven’t made my bed since I was eight years old and now I’ve been making it every day for the last month!
It’s okay to do things for the aesthetic!!
#adhd#neurodivergent#mental health#the only thing is that my husband is catching on#that if there’s a cool or aesthetic way to deal with chores#I will volunteer to do them#I found a neat way to roll towels so they look super chic in an open linen closet and it’s so motivating to fold towels now#I’ve also decluttered the shit out of my wardrobe so I have room to hang every piece of clothing own#sans underwear and socks#and my closet looks so pretty when everything is on hangers and it’s so much better than folding and stuffing things in drawers#he’s now looking into buying one of those fancy spinning mops so I’ll look want to clean the floors

Spring cleaning season is coming up
I haven’t thrown anything out in a long time
I’ve been having a hard time letting go of the past
In fact, all I’ve done with my life is look back to the past
Isn’t that ironic? Spending my present reminiscing about times gone by, instead of using the time I have to create better memories for my future self
I’ve yearned for so much in my fogs of nostalgia:
Friendships that were simple
Fewer responsibilities
Dinner with my family
Being able to laugh freely, without an undercurrent of anxiety or depression waiting to pull me under
But I’m tired of looking back all the time
I want to look forward
So today, I threw out an old bag
I’ve had that thing for five years now. It’s falling apart (thanks, fast fashion) and I have other bags that have since replaced it
What took me so long?
Every time I looked at it, I remember the day I bought it. The places I went with it. The new people I met and loved while it was with me
The memories remain. The people I’ve loved remain. The bag doesn’t have to represent those things for me any more
It’s only a small step. It was just one bag
But I’m going to allow myself a pat on the back for doing that. All life begins with baby steps. And I did it! I can be proud of myself for doing a small thing that I’ve never done before!
Start small. Let your bag go. Take pride in the little steps; they all feed into your life and make you into who you are
One step at a time :)

Grief Days 15-27.
My last post was two weeks after the death of my cat. It's now been nearly four weeks. And that's how we get through the tough times, Tumblr. We just focus on getting through the first hour, the first day, then another day, then one more day and we've made it through three. Three days becomes a week, a week becomes two weeks, two weeks becomes four. And here we are, and we're doing okay.
Let's check in:
My other cat is still as clingy as he was two weeks ago. Perhaps this is the way he will be now, without his brother around. He has never known life without his big brother as he was a kitten when he was adopted by their previous owner, and my deceased cat was then around 5 years old. I don't know what they were like then but, given their personalities, I imagine they must've bonded fairly quickly. (Ugh, they must've been so cute!) Perhaps in time he will go back to being his previous semi-aloof self. It's still early days. I wonder if in time he'll forget his brother altogether? We wonder sometimes whether they remember or miss their previous owner at all. Not sure how much memory their little brains can retain. It's been over 6 years since I became their new mom.
As predicted, my eldest, who has just started university, and I have settled into a new rhythm of communication. We generally have a brief text exchange at least daily, and we have FaceTimed two weekends in a row so far. She is feeling a bit homesick. The first week especially was overwhelming. During that first weekend FaceTime call, she said she couldn't wait until the first holiday visit home. But little by little she is adjusting to the transition from teen to young adult. In less than three weeks she will be home for Thanksgiving weekend. It will be a difficult transition again, to be back home again and then to leave again. It's always strange to come home after being away for a long time. But she will get used to that too, after the first few times. Change is always difficult and it's okay and normal to have feelings of anxiety and sadness.
My youngest and I are adapting fairly quickly to the new dynamic of only the two of us. I do frequently miss the presence of my eldest, usually when my youngest is being a cranky party-pooper. Which is frequently. Hence why I miss my eldest frequently. They have very different personalities, lol. On the other hand, it's easier to keep one kid happy most of the time than two kids happy some of the time (but rarely at the same time). They mostly enjoyed the same things when they were little, but their tastes have diverged a bit. I'm realizing my youngest hates crowds and prefers nature walks and keeping superfluous conversation to a minimum. My eldest, on the other hand, prefers walking in the city and seeing new stuff and tasting new foods. It's not that she doesn't enjoy a nice nature walk too, but she's actually kind of lazy, lol. She also doesn't like silences, she feels they are awkward, so she wants to fill them with conversation. They get along well though. She misses him and tells him so. He probably misses her but he won't say so, lol.
Also as regards my youngest, he has finally, after much prodding and teeth-pulling, communicated to me that he is not horrified by the idea of moving overseas to attend high school and is tentatively excited about it. That's the best I could get for a definitive answer. So if he does want to move overseas with his dad for the school year then I don't want to keep him from going. This will be really hard for me as I had not envisioned not being able to mother my youngest through to the end of high school. I'm just trying to cope with my eldest leaving home, I'm not prepared to cope with my youngest leaving home already too. It's just not really fair to me, and I don't mind saying so.
And that leads us again to the question of my housing situation. Do I stay in my 3-bedroom house that has a fully finished basement and a garage and a yard, and continue paying a mortgage and a hefty property tax? Do I move to a 1-bedroom condo which would eliminate my mortgage completely and reduce my property tax by 50% but I would have to pay a hefty condo maintenance fee and have no place for my kids to stay when they come visit? I am feeling slightly less panicked about the housing question at the moment because I did a little real estate research and it's completely feasible from my personal finances standpoint to downsize to a one- or two-bedroom condo in the area. There's also the possibility of renting out part of my house, maybe, in order to continue to afford living in it. Would need to make some adjustments to make it workable but it's a possibility.
Either way, something has to be done about the clutter. Which is the whole raison d'être of this 100dayproductivity blog in the first place. I know I'm not alone in this. The feeling of overwhelm from having stuff. Keeping stuff. Not being able to let go of stuff. Having plans for stuff, projects and to-dos. Wanting to sell some of the stuff. Wanting to find good homes for some of the other stuff. Wanting to keep the rest of the stuff out of landfills. Or recycle properly. Or upcycle or find someone else who wants to upcycle the stuff. The struggle with stuff is real. We need to manufacture less stuff to begin with. Then I'd have less anxiety and OCD about it.
Alas, I do have anxiety and OCD-like tendencies, coupled with the grief, so I am still staying the course with the slightly increased, self-prescribed anxiety medication dosage. I will have to discuss the change in dosage with my doctor eventually. In fact, I have a phone appointment with her tomorrow morning for a different reason, so perhaps I can mention it then. The reason for my doctor's appointment tomorrow is yet another cause of my anxiety, but I'll discuss that another time (I'm not terminally ill or anything like that, don't worry! Nothing like that!)
Thanks for listening Tumblr. Good luck with your own grief journey!
