TO EVERYONE (one person) TRYING TO MAKE ME TAKE BACK MY UNSCIENTIFIC IDEAS ABOUT CROWYUAN'S CHEST!!!!!
[picture a scene with me: A ratty old bar, beloved by locals and scorned by outsiders, only a few people left on this dark, dreary night. They sing a drinking song, swaying back and forth as their voices echo around the otherwise quiet room. I'm sat there, at the bar, nursing what at first glance appears to be Baileys, but is actually just chocolate milk. I look up at the bartender, who looks at me with sympathy as they top up my drink.] I just....man, they're just so scientific......there's no whimsy........they- they just want to give him boobs, man. [the bartender sighs, shaking their head as they clean the same glass they've been cleaning for an hour. I down the chocolate milk and grimace as if it's alcohol.] You know what, man? Let them....let them be all sciency....let Crowyuan have boobs [I break off with a sob] soft...pillowy pecs. [The bartender gasps, but I shake my head, slamming my empty glass on the bar as I stand up, tilting heavily to one side.] NO, man, it's too late. I've- I've made it canon now. [I flee from the bar, only to immediately get hit by a bike because I ordered food and the dude delivering it crashed their car, resorting to stealing someone's bike to bring my food to me.]

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

You don't have to force yourself to bounce back so quickly. I read something recently that said "when you come in from a rainstorm, you don't expect yourself to be dry and warm right away", and it really resonated with me. It's okay to take time to dry off and warm up. Take the time you need to process what happened to you.

"The best part of being fat is being soft and comfy to cuddle with" "The best part of being fat is knowing people like you for your personality and not your looks" Wrong. The best part of being fat is getting to swim in ice-cold water for FAR longer than my peers. My skinny friends can barely last 10 minutes in the pacific ocean without losing feeling in their fingers meanwhile i can be in there for HOURS. I was born to swim in glacial lakes and icemelt streams. Also I float.

I believe you have to accept help.
The person offering help wants to help.
They looked at you and said "I will invest time and effort into this person. I will do it of my own free will, because if I can help this person be even just a little better, I'll be glad about it"
And you would rather deny them their effort than accept the outstretched hand? Because you didn't want to be a burden? Fool! You'd make someone feel a little less helpless against all the bad in the world, a little more hopeful and a little warmer around the heart
So, even if it's the smallest of things and even if it's more than your worthy of receiving, even if you deem it too good for you and even if it doesn't fix anything
if it doesn't hurt you
if it's no burden to you
Accept the help
Someone will feel a little more powerful against an unforgiving world.
And if that makes you feel just the tiniest bit better it helped
And while you're at it: you can allow yourself to be happy about it. You've already accepted a gift. Get over it and enjoy it

legal disclaimer that I'm not saying we should execute CEOs in the street, but what if we doxxed them. what if we plastered their names and faces all over social media. what if we made them nervous to go out in public for fear of actually experiencing a single consequence for their actions. what if we built a culture where CEOs get regularly bitch-slapped in the street is what I'm saying

Dick is kind of a big brother who knows what effect he has on his siblings's friends, and he never misses an opportunity to make himself look even cooler in their eyes. But Jason? Oh, Jason has no idea that people even consider him pretty and interesting.
It pisses his siblings even more.
Jason, on his bike, with the most insane face card: Hey, Replacement, hop on. We have work to do.
Kon, twirling his hair: Is your brother, like... free?
Bernard: Yeah, on Friday
Tim, with his eye twitching: I will kill you.
Jason, absolutely unaware of what is going on: ??? WHAT THE FUCK DID I DO
***
Jon, waving enthusiastically at Jason, who passes by kitchen: Jason is so cool!
Damian: ...
Jon: And kind!
Damian: Calling Todd kind is definitely a choice.
Jon: But he read me a bedtime story the last time I was staying here 😕
Damian, frowning: ...
(Damian, later that day: Why did you read bedtime story to Jon and not me.)
***
Jason: Why Tim's and Damian's friends keep fucking glaring at me? Or stumble when I am around? What tf am I doing wrong?
Dick, trying to hide his laughter: Eh, no idea
Bruce, absentmindedly: I, actually, have the same problem when I am around other people
Alfred, amused: No DNA test required, that's for sure

If you're feeling anxious or depressed about the climate and want to do something to help right now, from your bed, for free...
Start helping with citizen science projects
What's a citizen science project? Basically, it's crowdsourced science. In this case, crowdsourced climate science, that you can help with!
You don't need qualifications or any training besides the slideshow at the start of a project. There are a lot of things that humans can do way better than machines can, even with only minimal training, that are vital to science - especially digitizing records and building searchable databases
Like labeling trees in aerial photos so that scientists have better datasets to use for restoration.
Or counting cells in fossilized plants to track the impacts of climate change.
Or digitizing old atmospheric data to help scientists track the warming effects of El Niño.
Or counting penguins to help scientists better protect them.
Those are all on one of the most prominent citizen science platforms, called Zooniverse, but there are a ton of others, too.
Oh, and btw, you don't have to worry about messing up, because several people see each image. Studies show that if you pool the opinions of however many regular people (different by field), it matches the accuracy rate of a trained scientist in the field.
--
I spent a lot of time doing this when I was really badly injured and housebound, and it was so good for me to be able to HELP and DO SOMETHING, even when I was in too much pain to leave my bed. So if you are chronically ill/disabled/for whatever reason can't participate or volunteer for things in person, I highly highly recommend.
Next time you wish you could do something - anything - to help
Remember that actually, you can. And help with some science.
