DC Writing Prompt
Dinah Lance and Tim Drake are somehow related. Bruce and Tim don’t realize this until after Tim becomes Robin. Bruce analyzes Tim’s DNA and finds signs that he has a meta gene, but one that is still inactive. So Bruce, Tim, and Alfred decide to stay quiet about it but to keep an eye on Tim in case it activates.
Well it does, when Tim’s 17. And it just the same as Black Canary’s.

Still wild to me that Sienna specifically had the line in Dark Crisis "I don't have powers, yet."
And then in the very next event, Lazarus Planet, the event designed to give people powers, Sienna didn't get any.
How dare you pick up Chekov's gun and not fire it, DC.

Beginner's Guide to Batman (and Batman-related) Media
(based on my knowledge and the things I enjoy)
Live action Batman movies are very hit or miss. Most of them are fairly middling, but the Dark Knight Trilogy is generally pretty bad. Poor Bruce characterization, white-washing, inaccurate representations of Gotham, etc. I have several thousand words written on that trilogy, and many more on live action movies in general (all of which are accessible thru my pinned post). The Batman (2022) is pretty widely regarded as being good and accurate. It has a much more emo depiction of Bruce. A major pet peeve of mine is that I, personally, don't think it's a very good Riddler, but everything else is good.
As for shows, those are generally less accurate but more enjoyable. Gotham is not technically canon I don't think but it has better aesthetics, canon accuracy, and character design than every live action movie imo. It starts with Bruce seeing his parents' murder and goes up until he first decides to become Batman. Gotham Knights is a much more AU-style show, detailing the death of Bruce and how his adopted son (invented for the show) handles it. It also has Stephanie, Harper and Cullen Row, and Duela Dent, plus great queer rep. Heavily recommended for people who want to know more about general character personalities or who enjoy AUs. Titans has Dick, Jason, and Tim, and while I personally don't think that they did well with the characterization of the other Titans, the Robins are well-done. If you want a good idea of Dick right after he became Nightwing, you want to see Jason as Robin, or you like Tim pre-Robin, this is the show for you.
As for animated shows, the usually widely loved ones are Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Batman: The Animated Series. B:TAS is largely accurate to the comics at that time, though it plays a little fast and loose with the Robins (goes straight from Dick to Tim). Plus, it's the first appearance of Harley Quinn! Additionally, I enjoy The Batman (2005), though it plays with the timeline a little and targets a younger audience. Batman Beyond is amazing if you want to get into the future of Batman/Terry McGinnis universe. The accompanying movie, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker covers Tim becoming Joker Jr.
Speaking of animated movies, there are a Lot. Standouts include the Batman Unlimited movies, which are some of the only ones to include Tim. They're very futuristic, so if you enjoy AUs or the science side of Batman, these are the ones. There are a lot of AU style ones, like Gotham by Gaslight (which I personally really love but don't think is anything particularly special outside of being interesting for characters), The Doom That Came to Gotham, and Batman Ninja. Batman Ninja isn't one of my favorites, but it is very good and has general good characterization. If you want to know more about how Barbara became Oracle but you don't want to read one of the most sexist comics ever, watching the Batman: The Killing Joke movie is a good way to do it. It frames the movie from Barbara's perspective and focuses on her story. If you want to know more about Damian, Son of Batman and Batman vs Robin are good. They detail him becoming Robin and his brush with the Court of Owls. Batman: Under the Red Hood is absolutely necessary viewing for anyone who likes Jason, as it details him coming back to life and becoming the Red Hood (along with having one of the all-time most depressing lines in-context ever).
When it comes to media that doesn't have Batman in it but is Batman-affiliated, Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn is a really good post-Joker pre-Ivy look at Harley, and it has Helena Bertinelli (Huntress), Dinah Lance (Black Canary), Detective Renee Montoya, and an AU-ized Cassandra Cain. The show Young Justice, particularly the first season, is a really good look at Robin!Dick in non-Bat teams, as is the animated Teen Titans. Both take slightly different routes when it comes to his personality, but both are equally good (especially if most of what you know about Robin!Dick is "holy dental hygiene, Batman!" or his vague backstory). They also both provide introductions into other team families, particularly Young Justice, so if you've just gotten into DC via Batman and want to know more about other characters, YJ is the way to go.
My personal idea of best piece of media for any character:
Bruce Wayne
Pre-Batman - Gotham
Batman: The Animated Series
Alfred Pennyworth
Batman: The Animated Series
Barbara Gordon
Batman: The Animated Series and The Killing Joke
Kate Kane
Batman: Bad Blood
Dick Grayson
As Robin - Young Justice
As Nightwing - the Son of Batman/Batman vs Robin/Batman: Bad Blood trilogy
Jason Todd
As Robin - Titans
As the Red Hood - Batman: Under the Red Hood
Tim Drake
As Robin - Batman: The Animated Series
As Red Robin - Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem/Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts
Stephanie Brown
Gotham Knights
Damian Wayne
Son of Batman/Batman vs Robin
Feel free to send an ask about a specific movie or show (or if you want a detailed list of everything a specific character has ever appeared in!) - I'm currently watching every Batman movie in existence and writing reviews literally so I can provide better recommendations to people (on part 41 rn). I will gladly provide more details about any movie or show. Also if you want to know more about specific media or what media a specific character has appeared in that is Bat-affiliated but is not a Bat, I probably have info! Anyone who's ever been a Titan, most Supers, most of the JLA, etc.
I can do another of these for comic recommendations if anyone wants bc I Do have opinions, I've just had some folks ask questions about specifically non-comic media recently!

I know Tim Drake (Red Robin) and Dinah Drake Lance (Black Canary) aren't related but imagine if they were.
Imagine Tim just arguing with one of his brothers and suddenly lets out a Canary Cry.
Then he freaks out not because he might have hurt his brother, but because he's a meta and Bruce has the whole "No Metas in Gotham." (Pre-Duke obv)
Then he somehow thinks: oh I'll just fake the whole thing by saying it's a new acoustic attack from one of my false teeth.
And the batfam just goes along with it. They're all suspicious, of course, but they know Tim is a genius.
Steph suggests that he program a version of the Red Robin jingle (Red Robin Yummmmm) so he can yell it at criminals.

Stupid question. I’m getting back into comics and don’t want to overload myself. do you know the difference between detective comics and Batman comic? Is it necessary to read both to understand Tim robin era stuff?
Hi I'm so sorry it took me a bit to get back to you, and forgive me if this is more detailed than you needed-- so basically Detective Comics and Batman are just two separate titles, meaning two different products that DC puts out. If you walked into a comic book store right now, you might find a giant DC section divided into all the different comic books that DC puts out (titles), with the newest issues of each title on display for purchase. Comic books usually come out with one short, unbound issue every month. After awhile, a dozen or so of those short, monthly issues get compiled into a volume, which would look more like a hardcover book. If the volume sells well, it might get a paperback version later on.
If I'm not mistaken Detective Comics is the original title from the 1930s that introduced Bruce as a character, so even though they did add a specific Batman title afterwards, Detective Comics still puts out Batman stories. There are a lot of Batman or Batman-adjacent titles at a time-- for example my favorite era of comics is 2009 to 2011, and during that time there was Detective Comics, Batman, Batman and Robin, Batgirl, Red Robin, and Batman Incorporated.
All of those titles had bat stories in them, but they focus on different characters, right? At the time, Dick was the guy using the Batman persona, so Detective Comics and Batman were about him, and then Batman and Robin was about both Dick and Damian. The Batgirl title was about Stephanie and to some extent Barbara, and Red Robin was the Tim title for the era. Batman Incorporated started later than the other ones, I believe, and it focused on Bruce, who had just returned from being lost in time.
So the unfortunate thing to understand here is that even though it's broadly true that titles are "about" one or more specific characters, the background cast in each title shifts constantly. The Batgirl title 2009-2011 was about Stephanie, so she's in every issue... but she also appears in Red Robin and in Batman and Robin and in Batman Incorporated. All of the bat characters are an informal group, so they constantly appear in each others' stories.
There are also a bunch of complicated crossover events set up so that one unifying story is being told through multiple titles. For example, there's an early new52 crossover story called Death of the Family, and the way that worked was there were a ton of bat-titles (Detective Comics, Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Teen Titans, Batman and Robin) that in general had their own plotlines going specific to the main characters. All of those plotlines got briefly interrupted for a special issue #16, and if you combine all of those #16s into one volume, they all fit together as Death of the Family.
DotF is actually way simpler than most crossover events, because DotF is really just the bat titles, and I think a lot of folks reading Batgirl are probably aware of the characters in Red Hood and the Outlaws, Nightwing, etc. A lot of the crossovers aren't specific to a small set of related characters, so you might find some that are a combination of idk like Nightwing, one specific Green Lantern, Black Canary, and Plastic Man. In those cases you might know and be interested in some characters but not others.
So basically if you want to see ever single appearance Tim made while he was Robin, yeah, you'd want to read both Batman and Detective Comics, because he does appear as Robin on and off in both of those titles by virtue of being a bat-character. However, I wouldn’t advise you to go about it that way because you’re right, that would be really time consuming and potentially expensive. If your interest is in Tim as Robin, I would recommend that you start with his first appearance, which is in the Batman title (#436, I think), read that storyline, and then skip straight into Tim-centric content, in this case the Robin titles.
I believe there are three Robin miniseries from 1991 to 1993, and then from 1993 to 2009 it’s one dedicated title. That’ll be the biggest and easiest way to consume Tim content, and then after that, if you feel like it, you can look for places where Tim appeared in other bat titles, including Detective Comics and Batman. You might be particularly interested in the Young Justice and Teen Titans (2003-2011) titles, because those have a lot of Tim content.
It’s entirely possible (likely, I would say) that while reading any title at all you’ll see references to crossover events, and those sections are going to require context that you probably won’t have, because it’s located in other, potentially sort of random titles. When that happens my advice would be to read the wikipedia article on the crossover, rather than hunting down and reading every individual issue located across the various titles. It’s easier and it’s the most effective way to understand the broad picture. If, after reading the wiki page, you decide that the crossover sounds like a lot of fun, you can search “[name of crossover] reading order” to get a list of all the relevant issues.
There definitely are people that read comics “in order” with the goal of finding every appearance, and though I obviously support those folks in their endeavor, my personal experience has been that it’s a frustrating way to go about the whole thing. Even if you’re willing to track down every single issue, including crossover issues featuring less popular, unrelated characters, you’re going to find yourself in a never-ending rabbit hole of references to other titles and other sets of characters, some of them contradictory. That can be part of the fun sometimes, but it’s less fun when you’re just trying to learn about one specific character and you feel like you have to go through twenty different sidequests first.
In my experience, it’s more fulfilling to just read the titles you’re interested in, or just look for stories that have the characters you want to learn about. There definitely will be times where crossovers or events happening in other titles bleed into what you’re reading, and that might get confusing. I swear to you, wikipedia is your best resource for those times. It’ll help you choose the fun rabbit holes that are worth falling into (rather than letting the DC marketing team trick you into falling down the unfun ones that make them a ton of money).
Once again I apologize if that was way too much information, but hopefully even if it was, it’s good info for someone out there

For the fandom meme:
F, G, I, N, O, P, Q, R
👀👀👀👀👀👀
F- (edit bc I accidentally deleted this at some point and didn’t notice) Percy Jackson was probably my longest fandom bc I got into it young and I still engage with it pretty regularly. I’m definitely going to buy the sun and the star and I’ve read all the spin off series as well so I’m pretty confident saying that’s my longest fandom. My fav spin off was Magnus Chase
G- okay so as a kid I had like a lot of casual ships but first OTP was probably Percabeth. I submitted a fanfiction of them for a school assignment when I was nine. I think that’s all we really need to hear to know that they’re the answer.
I- I don’t think so? Like. I’ll come back to this if I remember any but I’m pretty sure we’re good on this one
N- okay fandom: dc
I know that in my circle of dc fan logs there’s a lot of Timber content but the wider community seems to still be mostly hung up on TimKon. And I get it, they’d be really cute and all but Timber
More Teen Titans (fab five) bc I think mostly when people talk about the teen titans they’re usually talking abt the cartoon series
put some respect on the names of female characters! And the queer characters! And the poc characters! So many problems in my life could be solved if people weren’t so fixated on the straight white males of the franchise
O- Song is Bubble Pop Electric by Gwen Stefani, it is very Birdflash or really any speedster ship to me, very nice bouncy beat reminds me of Bart also
P- AU: Canary Tim - I’ll elaborate on this bc it is one of my aus and is kind of the reason that some of my second gen bat ocs exist so it’s kind of relevant.
First Black Canary - Dinah Drake. Married Larry Lance, daughter was Dinah Lance, who became the next Black Canary. Do you see where I’m going with this. Tim Drake. Dinah Drake. There’s a very weak connection there technically so I just made Dinah his aunt. Based off of Dinah Drake and Dinah Lance, we can assume the canary meta gene is hereditary, ergo we’ll just send it Tim’s way as well.
He won’t have his activated until his late teens though bc I want him to have atrocious voice control for a good while so he gets shipped off to train with Black Canary until he won’t accidentally deafen everyone around him.
From there, he’ll graduate Robin to become some kind of Songbird. It was originally going to be Galah (bc pink) but I changed it to Blackbird so his kids could call him B and it would be very emotional for Bruce to watch history repeat itself with the nickname and whatnot. Also this way tim gets to keep his red black and gold colour scheme.
that’s the au part but the part where my oc Jasper couldn’t really exist outside of this au is bc he’s a meta with a voice ability, that’s similar to the Canary meta gene but he’s not related to any of them. He’s Australian so he travels to America to look for Black Canary. He can’t find her, he keeps on missing her by like a handful of minutes or hours, but he does find Tim, and at this point he’s fed up of looking for Dinah and settles for the 19-year-old Blackbird in front of him. Tim, who only really got control of his powers around two weeks ago, chooses not to mention his inexperience and accepts that he’s a dad now
okay wow I didn’t expect to ramble that much but yeah that’s basically the au
Q- hate to say it but I don’t really ship stephCass. I used to, but I hc Cass as older by a bit too much for me to comfortable shipping them in my own au yknow? I wouldn’t say I’ve abandoned them completely though, but the only other ships I really could have put here were ones where I saw art of them, thought it looked sort of cute and then found out they were pro ship, so uh
anyways I think they are cute and would absolutely celebrate if they were made canon but it’s not really for me is all
R- hmmmm. Well I’ll start off with one that I think very few people ship. Steph and Bailey, who has one appearance in the Robin/Spoiler Annual. And I know I’m not the only one bc I’m pretty sure it was @aliteralchicken’s blog where I saw them for the first time, if not whoops
I also have a lot of Janet Drake ships bc I love her and given that most people do not love her I think it’s safe to say that Janet x Selina, Janet x Talia and Janet x Dana aren’t exactly popular ships
I’m trying to think of an m/m ship bc sapphic ships are hard to come by anyways, I’m thinking Bart x Preston but that’s mostly bc I haven’t really been looking for content of them so that would make them seem like a rare pair
oh also Darla Aquista/Laura Fell and Ariana Dzerchenko. Idk I think they’d be cute, and Ariana could really only upgrade from Tim let’s be honest
#ask game#this was fun :)#I spent like fifteen minutes on this it was very enriching most of the time was spent just typing up the au in a coherent way

They had dealt with the villain group six times in the past three weeks. Six times. They kept escaping and gathering more and more information on the heroes and their wekanesses whilst they were at it. They had managed to get hold of kryptonite the first escape attempt. Then they figured out how to catch the flash. They realised distracting Green Lantern made it easier to take his ring and that Martian Manhunter was weak to fire. They froze plastic man and managed to knock out Black Canary before she could scream. By the sixth escape they had managed to find out about weaknesses for almost all of them. The only advantage they had was Batman. He had long since figured out all of these weaknesses and had countermeasures for if they were used against them. The worst part was the fact they still didn't know their goals, other than rampant destruction. However this time they seemed to be targeting the big bat but none of them knew what this ritual they were performing was supposed to do.
What they didn't know was that one of the Villians had enhanced hearing. He heard about Batmans missing son, one biologically related to him he had not been able to meet. Heard the attachment and grief in his voice as he spoke of him. If he didn't know better he would have thought the Gothamite had been talking about a dead relative but there was no way someone as competent as Batman would let anyone kill one of his kids. This gave them the perfect plan. Everyone knew how protective Batman was of his flock. Even Red Hood, crime lord extrordanaire, was under his protection simply for the fact he considered him one of his. The other members of his family were much to well trained, well defended, for them to be able to use them as a hostage. This one however, was free game.
He had never met them, meaning he hadn't set up protections for them let alone trained them. He was blood related to the child, meaning his blood could be used as a conduit to bring him to the circle. It would be better if they had the mothers blood to work with as well but they could still go through with the ritual with just the fathers. Luckily enough one of their compatriots had managed to slice the bat in their last confrontation and had stored the bloody blade. It had been simple to gather the rest of the materials and draw out the ritual circle, then lure the heroes to the location. Now they simply had to keep them distracted until they had called the missing child and blackmail Batman. Not a simple task but definitely possible.
The circle began to glow as the chanting grew in volume. When the ritual circle changed colours the leader knew it was successful and began to taunt Batman.
"So what will you do now oh great Batman. The son you never got to meet is being summoned. Will you allow Danyal's first impression to be of you failing him. Of you sacrificing him to bring us in once again. Or will you comply. Will you let us go ahead with our plans and keep him safe or will you fight us and our compatriots kill him. The ritual has succeeded. He will be here soon, depending on the distance. It cannot be stopped now. The circle has latched on to his essence and is bringing him to us. Your blood and his bound name is plenty to call him. You should really be more careful what you talk about in the presence of others, who knows who'll use them against you. So much for being always prepared. Make your choice Batman, who knows how long it will be unti-" His monologue was cut off by Robin sneaking behind him and knocking him out. His actions seemed to be a signal, as all the other bats seemingly melted out of the shadows and targeted the other villains. Within moments they were all on the ground, ready to be taken back for containment once again, hopefully for good this time.
"B, you okay?" Nightwing walked towards his father figure, avoiding the blue glowing circle as he did.
"They said they were summoning Danyal. The ritual succeeded. How can they summon a dead child?"Batman looked towards his eldest with grief on his face.
"Simple mate, he ain't dead." The voice of John Constantine echoed through the area. Once it became clear the ritual was of mystical persuasion the flash left to retrieve the magical members to counter it. "This particular ritual only works on those who are alive in some sense, wrong symbols for it to be necromatic, meaning your kid's alive somewhere."
"He died Constantine. He was dumped into the pits in an attempt to revive him and it failed. They resorted to making another heir after their failure. He's dead." Batmans voice was cold. He didn't want the false hope, he'd already lost Danyal once before he even knew him. Losing him again would kill him.
"The ritual succeeded Bats. It's blue. It found his lifeforce. The dead don't have lifeforce. Believe me, you've met Deadman. Even ghosts don't have any. Sure his is weak, hence why this is taking so long, but it's bloody working. Whoever told you your son died was wrong. Now we have who knows how long till he stops fighting and gets pulled through. Prepare yourself, he's likely hurting from fighting the tug for so long." Constantine's words seemed to shock Bruce until Damian broke him out of it.
"I could meet him? My original? He's alive?" The boys soft words broke through the fog surrounding Bruce's mind. Damian had been raised knowing the perfection of his original and he always regretted his death. It may have led to his existence but he had always wished to know the one he was created from. But would his father rather Danyal than himself, the replacement? He was a mix of excited and nervous.
"Robin-" Bruce was cut off by the circle. The light grew in intensity and the surrounding heroes could feel the atmosphere of power that began radiating from it. They tensed up, waiting for whatever came next. A portal opened and a shape fell out of it, plummeting towards to ground. Before any of them could get their senses back and catch them they flipped, righting themselves and landing in their feet.
It was a boy, around 15, who was identical to Damian. Same size, same face, same height. They even had the same glare as he looked at them suspiciously. There was only one difference. Damian's eyes were green, tainted by the Lazuras water which had been used in his creation, the only point of difference between the two. The boy looked around the area, taking in the heroes. Nightwing stepped forward, taking in the boy before him, identical to his brother.
"Danyal?" He asked, hoping he was right and this wasn't another clone made by Talia. They would all be devestated.
"Who's asking?" Even his voice was similar, perhaps slightly raspier but otherwise identical.
"Danyal al Ghul, the trueborn heir?" Damian stepped forward. He knew his mother would allow no clone that title, it was the easist was to confirm. The boy tensed, preparing for a fight, which was as good as confirmation. Nightwing stepped forward once again, his eyes covered but meeting the others.
Bruce's eyes in another face stared back at him.
Demian is a clone of Bruce and Talia son whom died thanks to his grandfather actions. The pit failed to bring him back. Well back to them the timing of him being placed in the pit was the second time Jack and Maddie Fenton got their Portal to open just long enough to spit out a very hurt boy.
"I do not see why the Superboy being a clone is such a problem, Kent," Damian grunts, cutting off Clark mid-vent of Conner. He had come to part take in his first ever Sleep Over with Jon.
While the boys have gone upstairs to set up Damian's sleeping place Bruce once again tries to speak about mentoring Conner. It's not as bad as when Conner was first found but things were still strained between them.
It didn't help that whenever Clark fought against Lex's newest scheme, he would fall back to his mistrust of Conner. Tim's mood continually worsened around that time, too, since his boyfriend always returned to him slightly more broken by Clark's inability to trust him.
"You can not tell me the man of steel is so close-minded?"
"Damian," Bruce warns, but his son only raises a brow. He crosses the room to stand before the man of steel, crossing his arms over his chest to copy Alfred's disappointed stance.
"I'm not close-minded for being weary of a clone." Clark starts, face shifting into a defensive scowl.
"I am a clone, and you do not seem to mind my presence. Why is Superboy so different? Surely not the fact he has a boyfriend. I remind you said boyfriend is my brother-"
"What do you mean you are a clone?" Clark cuts in, voice laced with shock. Even Bruce seems baffled by his words when Damian glances at his father.
He squints at both men, trying to figure out what they are playing at.. "I am a clone. You are aware of this."
"No, I certainly am not aware," Bruce grunts, taking a threatening step forward. "What happened to Damian?
"Nothing happened to me, Father. I am standing right before you," Damian gestures to his healthy body. Jon chooses to fly down the stairs with a cheer, and he gives him a look that has the super son pausing. "Our fathers are behaving strangely."
Jon doesn't hesitate to blast his laser eyes at Clark with a quick "Sorry, Dad!"
"Johnathan Samuel Kent!" Clark snaps, having dodged the surprise attack but only barely. The boy freezes in the air, staring wide eyes at his parent, but Damian snaps out his arms and moves to lift his friend into the air with a quick
"I'm sorry! You can ground me when I get you free of mind control!" He shouts, flying right out the window. Bruce tries to stop them by flinging a net at them but Damian counters with his own batarang. The two are dots on the horizon as Damian's voice fades.
"We shall free you soon, Father!"
Bruce narrows his eyes at them but holds up his arm when Clark plants his feet in a position he usually makes when he's about to take flight. It speaks of the trust and years of friendship that the other man stays rooted to the kitchen tile instead of chasing his child.
"What is it, Bruce?" The man asks with slight impatience.
In quick motion, he pulls out his phone and places a call. Placing the speaker on, despite the fact Clark could have easily heard every word without it, Bruce holds the phone between them as Tim cheerfully answers.
"They seem convinced we knew of Damian's status." Bruce holds up a hand again when Clark opens his mouth to argue. "Let me check something."
" 'Sup B."
"Chum, is Damian a clone?"
".....ugh yeah? You know that."
"I do?"
"Yeah, you do. He said so when he first showed up. I mean word per word, "I am not like the rest. I am a copy of perfection, made from the DNA of Father and Mother in an artificial womb." Tim says mockingly, repeating what Damian had said the first night Bruce and the rest met him.
"He meant a literal copy. " Bruce repeats, mystified. "Does that mean I have another son out there?"
Tim goes silent, as his boy tends to do when he knows something but is unsure how to say it. Bruce barely refrains from snapping at him to tell him everything. Tim has a bad reaction to what he sees as disapproval. They talked about it plenty together and with Dinah on what triggers his issues stemming from his upbringing.
"B......Damian was made because Ra's killed the original. In a mock duel when he was nine." Tim's voice is gentle, but it does nothing to soften the devastating blow his words cause. "They tried to save him in the Lazarus, but he never rose. They had enough of his DNA around to make Damian two years later and forced him to match the original's age. Ra's had everything in his files, and Damian has talked about his original plenty of times. I'm sorry. I thought you knew."
Clark places a firm hand on Bruce's shoulder, speaking softly, but he can't hear him. All he can hear is the ringing in his own ears as he realizes that, once again, he has lost a part of his family. Distantly, he knows Clark has helped him into a chair, but he can't really understand his surroundings.
It's like he's watching himself from outside his body as Clark takes the phone out of his slack hold to speak to a distressed Tim, who frantically asks if he's alright.
"What-" he chocks after a moment. "What was his name?"
"Oh, Bruce," Clark whispers in a sympathetic tone as Tim answers.
"Danyal. His name was Danyal."
It's a lovely name. He weeps into his hands for the boy it belongs to as his best friend holds him through grief. They tell Tim to find Jon and Damian so he can break down in private.
A few states over, Danny Fenton sneezes violently three times. His friend Tucker gives him a teasing smile.
"Oh, some girl is crying over you!"
"As if" He laughs punching the other in the arm "Who would cry over little old me?"
#Damian is Danny's clone#Itf Danny had a nickle for everytime he been clone he had two nickles which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happen twice#Yes he left Danyal life behind him#He's Danny now#The supersons were halfway across the country when Superboy caught up to them#Jon trusts Damian to the point he only needs a look before taking action#Damian was taught of his original being perfection#He hoped he approves of him#Bruce is heartbroken#he missed raising another son#Tigger warning: Disassociation#Grief#Very little but there#dc x dp crossover#Danny is sus#Why do they know that name#he kept up training and it talented#little overpowered badass

DC thoughts cause I have them
- Bruce canonically cannot cook to save his life, but he’d likely adapt and learn to make snacks for dummies (honey on crackers, apple slices, cereal, etc) and those become a lot of the batboys’ comfort foods
- Billy Batson always has his powers but when he’s in his real form/child body it’s proportionate to his size. So he has incredible endurance, strength, speed, and wisdom (and kind of always smells like rain/ozone) but only in relation to a 5th grader.
- Wisdom of Solomon does NOT mean common sense or intelligence. It means Shazam is perceptive and has good judgement based on knowledge he already has. Whether or not that wisdom is based on how wise king Solomon of antiquity was is unknown.
- Jason actually stole the wheels off the batmobile because he made a bet with Catwoman while he was homeless for $50, who 100% thought he was bluffing. She still has three of the wheels under her bed
- Poison Ivy has acne during spring—it’s her version of seasonal allergies
- When Damian was a kid he demanded servants to eat his food with him. His mother and grandfather took this as him being a natural born monarch being perceptive enough to know about poisons, but really he just didn’t want the servants to feel left out and didn’t want to eat alone.
- At least one member of the justice league is colorblind; that many aliens doesn’t make for a consistent amount of cones (the color perception in the eye, humans have 3) and the watchtower ALWAYS has to accommodate for this in some way. Like hell they’d ever leave someone without their proper accommodations for what could be considered a disability.
- Hawkgirl is incredibly farsighted and her mask/helmet doubles as reading glasses
- When Diana went to a salon for the first time. Oh boy. She didn’t leave that massage table for 3 days.
- Everyone can always tell when Clark just got off a call or back from a visit with his parents because his accent comes back. He can never hear it himself and its driven him crazy trying to get rid of it.
- After an incident involving time travel and meeting another version of Bruce—a very old version—learning the fact that Bruce has a risk of heart problems makes his kids ease up on the pranks and death defying feats. At least while in front of him. He doesn’t though.
- Dick and Wally have a secret code that they made based on Rock Paper Scissors. It looks exactly like Rock Paper Scissors except they move a finger or change angles to indicate what they’re talking about and it took Wally 6 months to get correct
- Every year for the Flash Day in Central City the Rogues decorate things with antlers and red noses without fail. Every year on Flash Day Wallace Rudolph West considers the ramifications of changing his middle name.
- Black Canary always has access to tea somewhere in the room. Any room. One time she pulled tea bags out of one of Batman’s pockets and he was stoically bewildered as she calmly made earl grey during an interrogation
- The amount of times Constantine has had to be escorted from the premises of a case is absurd
- Tim’s footsteps constantly fluctuate between being super loud and extremely quiet. Since he was at home alone so much he was used to being able to be loud, but quickly learned to be quiet after he realized he could be heard while following Batman and Robin, and got even better at it when he became a superhero. Whenever he gets loud, he knows it’s time to take a nap.
- Steph is terrible at chess but the best scrabble player you’ve ever seen. Cass is always in awe, because she’s the exact opposite.
- Barbara can still do a backflip paralyzed from the waist down. Her arms are enormous and she always finds a way.
- Duke HATES the Night Shift, his powers are annoying and near inert when literally everything is bathed in darkness. (He also sleeps with the hallway lights turned on so he can see footsteps under the door before they’re there. All the bats do.)
- Since he was born in the phantom zone, Chris Kent has a lot of problems that taught Clark about being a good father. He and Bruce don’t have many serious disagreements after Chris. He understands now.
- Every single lantern goes absolutely apeshit over Lego bricks, they can’t get enough of it. One time the league went on a mission that involved the lantern corps and there was a giant battle of Lego builds in willpower green that they had to break up.
- Lois Lane is face blind. She does not let this stop her. Clark took an entire class on body language just to try and keep his privacy under wraps because she can read people like a book. Why else do you think she’s such an amazing investigative reporter and can’t spot Superman’s big lovable face a cubicle away?

Something about dc glass canons just hit different.
Dc has a lot of tank characters. The heavy hitters. The overpowered pseudo gods. I'm talking your average Kryptonian, Amazonian, Atlantean or Martian. A tank character in dc usually has super strength and a very high durability, if not complete invulnerability. Starfire and Cyborg, for example, would be considered tanks because of how durable, strong and powerful they are, despite the fact that they aren't invulnerable.
There are a lot of tank characters in dc. Classic tanks for the Teen Titans are Donna, Garth, Vic and Kori. For Young Justice, the tank characters are Cassie and Kon. In the Justice League they'd be Clark, Diana, Arthur, J'onn, Kendra/Shayera, Billy, ect. I could literally list tank characters all day. There are so many of them.
I find that tanks can get a little old, fast. There isn't a whole lot you can do with a tank character, especially not with dc tanks. They're all basically gods so there aren't a whole lot of stakes in your stories. Usually these tanks have a fatal weakness to make them more interesting and to insert stakes back into the story but even with those they can get dull. Dc tanks tend to have a heart of gold and they don't tend to mess around with morality much. These are powerful characters and with that much power it becomes scary if they are anything less than a boy scout. Of course there are exceptions, like when dc wants their characters to be edgy (cough cough Arthur and Diana) but typically the tanks are fairly cut and dry morality wise and very palatable.
Then there are dc's 'just some guy's. There's a lot of these as well. These are your typical 'no powers' heroes like Batman, Green Arrow, Nightwing, Red Arrow and Robin. There are a lot of these guys. Now the 'just some guy's are allowed to be very complex characters with a wide range of morality. In fact, they're encouraged to do so because they're supposed to be relatable to the audience. The tanks are gods to be admired, bastions of peace, hope and justice, but the 'just some guy's? They are just people. For that reason they can be incredibly compelling and interesting characters but they lose a lot of points when it comes to fights. Because of the power scaling in DC, these characters are either unable to do anything above street level or they have an insane amount of plot conveniences that allow them to somehow win (Batman with his prep time or Batman with his bottomless utility belt or, well, really Batman with anything)
But where dc really hits it out of the park? Their best and most compelling characters (in my opinion)??? The glass canons. A glass canon, for those unfamiliar, is a character who can deal a massive amount of damage but who goes down with one hit. All the power of the tank and all the vulnerability of the 'just some guy'. Not a god, not a man but perpetually in-between.
Classic DC glass canons would be Wally, Raven and Gar (depending) for the Teen Titans, Bart for Young Justice, Barry/Wally, Hal/John/Guy/Kyle/Jess/Simon/Jo, Zatanna and Black Canary (depending). Basically any speedster, Green Lantern or magic user would fit the bill. Some metas as well depending on power levels. Gar and Dinah are tricky because to truly be a glass canon you have to have an insane amount of power and around normal human durability. So it really depends on their characterization.
Dc's glass canons are so much fun. They're allowed to be human! By god do they fuck up and mess around and make mistakes. They try their best to be good but it's not an inherent quality like the tanks. They're powerful enough to be cocky but mortal enough that they're extremely vulnerable at all times. Take Bart for example. That little dude could rewrite reality if he wanted to. He could take out an army before they could blink. He could hop across the multiverse in an instant. He'd also collapse if you hit him over the head with a chair.
It's just such a fun dynamic??? The stakes are real. One bullet could take your hero out and yet they still face down gunfire everyday. They have the powers of gods and yet they are extremely human and flawed. It's a fight between holding back and being human and letting loose and becoming the thing they fear.
I just find the glass canon to be such a compelling character archetype. This character could singlehandedly take down a country if they wanted to but also they just got a paper cut while trying to do their taxes.

So I heard that in any given month, DC usually has around 52 comics being released and obviously most of them are just Batman’s books for some reason, but I thought it will be a fun idea to try coming up with a list of 52 comics that should be released instead of what we got even though I don’t really read much comics outside of Bat-related books, but I did try to give a solo or a team-up book for as many deserving characters as I could
(Note: these are all just on-going, they don’t include events or special one-shots)
Batman solo
Detective Comics (but WITHOUT Batman, he already has a solo, this book will be for all the Gotham-based characters that don’t have their own comic)
Batwoman solo
Red Hood solo (a REAL solo, no dumb team-ups that no one asked for)
Robin (about the actual current Robin aka Damian)
Cassandra solo
Stephanie solo or team-up book (a brand new team preferably)
A Duke-centric Outsiders book
Birds of Prey book (about Oracle + Black Canary + Huntress + other female characters)
Young Justice book (about the OG line-up only)
Gotham Sirens (Catwoman+Harley+Ivy, but other villains can appear)
Nightwing solo
Starfire solo
Titans book centered on the OG lineup only (Dick+Kori will appear in it, but since they already have their own solo it will be more focused on the rest of the members)
Talia al Ghul solo
Superman solo
Superwoman solo (about Kara)
Superboy solo (about Jon)
Action Comics (same as TEC, it will be centered on Superman-related characters that don’t have their own comics, NOT Superman)
Wonder Woman solo
Wonder Girl solo for Yara Flor (she’s new and Cassie has YJ book while Donna has the Titans book)
Nubia solo
Sensation Comics (again, centered on all the WW-related characters that don’t have their own comic)
Shazam solo
Whiz Comics (for the rest of the Shazam kids to share)
The Flash solo (about Wally)
Kid Flash solo (about Wallace)
Speedster Comics (not gonna repeat myself at this point)
Green Arrow solo
Connor Hawke solo
Arrow family book for the rest to share
Aquaman solo
Mera solo
Aqualad solo
Justice League (centered on team-ups and on the members that don’t have a solo)
A Justice League of America book
Something like Global Guardians or Justice League International, basically a book for superheroes outside the US
A magic-centric book like Justice League Dark (but with a better name hopefully)
A Green Lantern duo book between Simon and Jessica
A Green Lantern solo for Kyle Rayner
Green Lantern Corps book for the rest to share
Vixen solo
A Black Adam and Isis duo book
An Osiris solo (if they rebooted his character and promoted him as Black Adam’s Robin/Superboy, I genuinely think he will be popular)
A Hawkman/Hawkwoman duo book
Zatanna solo
Doctor Fate solo (about Khalid Nassour)
Static Shock solo
Blue Beatle solo
A Deathstroke’s FAMILY book (I just want more Joey and Rose, Slade can choke)
Lady Shiva solo or a team-up.
A Suicide Squad book
#yes I know some characters are missing but believe me it’s harder than you think#but I think this is fair enough#I didn’t give D-list characters with no potential a solo#nor did I give overexposed mainstream characters 5+books#and I tried giving a shared book for every major family/group#what do you all think?

When they met you
Justice League x Batfam x male Reader
Reader is Black Canary's Nephew, also has her power too. Tim is Black Canary's cousin as it is Canon recently if I'm not mistaken that he is related somehow to them.
Only Tim knows about your power and who you were before, but the rest of the fam don't know yet.
It was hell on earth this day as all the Crew wanted was a nice, easy way in and out but it seemed to difficult.
The Justice League stood tall and fought as best they could, Nightwing and Flash were giving each other a hand, Red Hood and Aquaman were helping Wonder Woman. Batman, Red Robin, Robin and Cyborg fighting the grounds ad Superman took the bigger and stronger ones out from the air.
You hadn't been with the team long and hadn't been one for diving in with the fighting straight away. You preferred to study a situation then jump in and fight when all other options were gone. You also, only liked to use your power when necessary.
Wonder Woman and Aquaman got tangled up in a hard fight while Nightwing got too cocky, trying to take down someone much bigger than him. Batman helped him out at the last second, Robin started fighting angry and let it get the better of him. Red Hood was doing what he did best, shooting up the place.
You stood and saw one of the enemies throw a grenade at Red Hood, you ran to him and knocked him down. Hood let out an 'oof' as he connected to the ground hard, the grenade exploding caught him off guard.
'You ok?' You asked him, Hood just nodded slightly as his attention got thrown somewhere else.
'Your left' Superman shouted as you looked at the oncoming parade of muscle, Red Robin looked at you. You looked at him.
'Y/n, what are you doing?' Flash called out to you as you ran towards the crowd, that was when they saw it. You screamed, just like Black Canary, throwing the men away. The heroes all looked at you and smiled as you took out the remaining enemies, with your voice.
You turned around to see everyone staring at you, you looked at them and breathed out heavily.
'What?' You asked, nonchalantly
'You're him, aren't you? Silver Canary' Wonder Woman asked, you shrugged a little and laughed.
'I was'
Red Robin came over and gave you a hug, while the Justice League looked at you proudly. Nightwing was standing with his hand on Robin's shoulder and Red Hood just looked at you shocked.
'You...you saved me' he said calmly as he approached you, you smiled at him.
'You would've done the same, I'm sure' you shrugged, Red Hood took off his helmet and smiled at you brightly.
'That was impressive' Superman said, you looked at him and went red in the face, Superman just looked confused. 'What?' He continued.
'Nothing, just can't believe you're talking to me' you blushed, Superman laughed as he put an arm around you.
It had been 6 months now, you were a member of the Justice League along with your Aunt, Black Canary. You were Silver Canary again.
'Y/n Lance, he is our newest member. He is strong, I've seen what he can do. Hal, Arthur. I want him with you two for this mission' Batman said, Green Lantern and Aquaman nodded, both smiling at you. You just fangirled as you stood in between them, feeling the happiest you've felt in a while.
Your Aunt sat and winked at you as she saw you going red in the face, you smiled at her as she mouthed 'I love you' to you. You mouthing it back.
Yeah, this was the moment your life became great again. And all because you decided to take a jump and use your power for a good cause.
