Re-watching Smallville and truly has anybody been as down bad as Season 9 Clark Kent for Lois Lane? Ok with cutting himself off from everyone and everything else he loves until Lois returns and he's like "nope, physically cannot be away from her".

Gets distracted mid-fight because he's too busy stroking her hair and gazing at her lovingly.

In general, constantly gazing at her like she's the most remarkable and precious thing he's ever seen, even when she's just been turned into a zombie.

Kisses her for the first time ever, like this, and said he did it because "I don't know what happened, I couldn't help myself".

He considers himself to be dead when he's been without her for a year. Casually drops sentences like "if it means being with you, I'll wait forever" and "you can lean on me for strength, I feel stronger when you're around anyway." Goes from being shy and reserved to making out in the work elevator and doing shit like this:

Sir, I'm going to need you to get a grip.

May all our men be so pathetically wrapped around our fingers.

Dick Grayson: It all makes sense now

Lois Lane is hunting Danny to get an interview with the King of the afterlife, or whatever it is Phantom does. (Mama wants another Pulitzer for the pile!)

Danny is trying like hell to avoid her, since he's not supposed to just tell people how the afterlife works. (Also, Lois scares him.)

"Hide me!" Phantom shrieked before ducking underneath Batman's cape.

They were barely given a moment to even be surprised before the doors slammed open.

Lois Lane stood proudly in front of the doors, somehow finding a way onto the Justice League watchtowers. She scanned the room with her eyes narrowed like a predator trying to find prey as she grit her teeth and snarled, "Where is he?"

Superman coughed. "Lois! What are you doing here? Actually— how'd you even get here?"

Lois waved him off. "Don't worry about it. Where. Is. He?"

Batman was furiously typing away on his phone, possibly trying to find out how a civilian (admittedly married to a fellow superhero) was able to get into the watchtower, while everyone else shared looks.

"Uhm. Who?" Green Lantern asked awkwardly, exchanging a glance with the Flash.

"He! Phantom! He owes me an interview! Actually, he owed me one 45 minutes ago! I had to chase him from New York to Mexico to Peru and then to here! Where is he?!"

Wonder Woman said rather blandly, "He's not here."

Lois narrowed her eyes. "Are you sure?"

Wonder Woman nodded sagely. "Yes. He darted out of sight using his powers. Perhaps he hoped that you'd waste your time here while he ran off further."

"Dang it! Alright, excuse me, please, I need to search for a certain ghost!" Lois snapped before she strode off like a storm, just as quick as she appeared.

There was silence for a long time.

Then Phantom poked his head out of Batman's cape.

"Thanks for the assist, guys. Also, Batman, did you know that your cape is actually partly a portal?"

"I'm sorry, what—?!"

The absolute significance of this interaction makes a strong case for why shows need to be mindful of the Bechdel Test (as a tool, not a rule).

If we weren't so accustomed to every single conversation between women in this show revolving around one of the men, this particular interaction would have come across more strongly.

Lana Lang learned of Clark Kent's secret right before he proposed to her, and the audience knows part of his destiny is to end up with Lois Lane. So seeing their differences here was important — with Lana clearly shaken, and Lois keeping things light through a dash of humour while also simplifying a delicate situation. This scene is meant to show and tell the audience why Lois will ultimately be the right one for Clark.

Lana Lang is detail-oriented while Lois keeps a natural perspective on the bigger picture. In the end, this is the grounding force that Superman needs.

I love the idea of Lois Lane absolutely hating Bruce Wayne, because in her mind hes everything wrong with America. A mediocre white dude who came into money through no work of his own, founds a bunch of charities to avoid taxes, lives like a king, partying and drinking and womanizing while people in his city are turning to crime just to make ends meet.

When Batman eventually lets Clark tell her his true identity, its because A. Clark hates having to lie to her and B. Batman is genuinely more afraid of her than any of his villains
