Things no one told you so I will for no reson other than I'm bored
You can NOT unwant something. Desires are inborn. You are born wanting and until you either get it or exhaust all options, It will not go away. Acting like you don't want it will not take away the fact that you do and its little bitch behavior tbh. Meeting your needs will do you a LOT more favors than trying to superimpose others that you deem more achievable or acceptable (Again, little bitch behavior). It is a solid sign of Unthatbitchism to choose not to get what you want for whatever reason but especially because it?is?not?socially?acceptable??? all the women that came before you cry in their graves. All the feminists that fought for your right to exist freely, you spit on their sacrifice. in 2025?
Spirituality, but not manifesting and rocks and yoga and love and light. Never RELIGION I'm begging you never religion. What even is that. Spirituality, the other kind. The blood moon kind. The Penial gland kind, the one that used to have people burned alive. That, that spirituality.
Submission is a masculine trait. Not feminine. Again. nothing wrong with being masculine and mostly you have to be both but. Submission is a masculine trait.
Energy >> substance. Matter of fact is energy over substance. Its not embodying it's becoming. I can't explain this without going into voodoo witch area but listen- its something you become. Not embody. Not project. Not fake till you make it, no, its energy, mode of being. Seduction. Power. Beauty. Wealth. etc- its not substance. Its not something you become. It's something you ARE and it's not tied to substance. You know when you see a super attractive person but you are not attracted to them? They have substance but not energy. Or someone in a position of power that's constantly getting finessed by their juniors? All substance no energy. Its a state of being, like a point in an energy plane?and it is as simple as a decision & practise. If y'all were witch level of cool we'd learn so much but cowards. ALL of you.
Boundaries are also inborn. Given a boundary is a definition of person you are born with your person? A boundary is how- if you take all things in existence as one, you define yourself as part of it. Like your pocket is a part of your cloth but it's still a pocket and it has its own definition- That's a boundary. You don't create them you REMEMBER them and GO BACK to them. You don't superimpose and choose them they were there, but socialization faded them. Joy= boundary respected frustration/ anger/pain = boundary violated. Disassociation is the most ACCURATE indication your boundary has been violated, and it's a matter of tracing what happened and finding it.
Social skills = survival skills. Introvert does not mean doesn't like people that's called a coping mechanism introvert means prefers own company. Social creatures, people. Tribal animals. Herd animals, you get it? The people with the most social skills have the easiest lives. Its like fish that can swim. The most natural thing EVER. The winning code is actually just called social skills. Will outperform a PHD and social status and money every.single.time.
Femininity = Creation. Masculinity= sustenance & that's it that's all. Women have both men can ONLY have one.
You chose into this life. You did in fact choose to be born in that family to those people with those conditions. I'll stop there. This is, by the way, the epitome of empowerment. Once you understand this THEN you are empowered.
You have more than one soulmate I have never understood the idea of *the One*? Matter of fact if we are considering universal oneness everyone is your soulmate? But okay. he's not not your soulmate because you broke up btw. You get more than one. Much more.
Compatibility> chemistry. Wait till you get to therapy and learn all cool and fun things about chemistry haha. Choose compatibility every single time.
No one can save you no one is coming to no one even could? Even if they wanted to? This is not a Wattpad novel honey this is real life. No one can save you but you. You are both the sculptor and sculpture.
Listen to me. Listen carefully. You do not escape the Matrix you dominate it. Okay? Take the red pill live like the blue pill.
You can not be a *failure* as long as you are alive. Human conditioning is literally just to live and survive as long as you are not dead you're good. And no it is not to reproduce if it was natural miscarriages wouldn't be a thing don't you think? Then your body would prioritize your offspring over you? You're alive, you are experiencing life (why we have consciousness btw), you are fulfilling your purpose. You're fine chill. That's it that's your purpose. Survive and experience life. Which is to say staying in your room all day is, in fact, a failure but that's also an experience just a shitty one and why would you choose that.

thinking about fibula volunteering to be a test dummy for tails cuz it's not like he can actually get hurt (permanently at least). and tails being sooo excited about that because omg... this is a once in a lifetime opportunity... hard cut to fibula cackling as tails lobs fox-shaped bombs at him. LMAO.
tails being SO STOKED about this would make sonic kind of irritated. cuz he doesn't like fibula. he tolerates him for tails. so when tails starts looking forward to fibula coming over and having fun with him... yeah. sonic's competitive nature rears its ugly head. HE'S the big brother around here.
but sonic has never had such a worthy competitor... i mean, fibula literally DIED for his little sister. being a big brother is one of his core personality traits. but sonic's ego can't take it, not under his own nose. their rivalry is one for the ages

The thing that irritates me the most about Helluva Boss is the adamant need to waste any potential for depth in every character. The thing that stops me from abandoning this train wreck of a show and feeling total apathy for it is its wasted potential.
TOO MUCH FUCKING WASTED POTENTIAL.
And obviously, the elephant in the room, aka the blatant misogyny and double standards because viv is writing yaoi so the fans could consume the emotional uwu moments and porn. SO MUCH PORN DAMN IT.
And the thing that eats away at me is the characters such as stolas and stella had such an easy chance to be morphed into something so deep that the show could be a soap opera about their drama alone.
In my humble opinion, the Goetia demons shouldn't have been in this show at all. They belong in a show like Hazbin that's showcasing the upper echelon of hell. This should've been about IMP, but I'm not ripping that one bandaid off because the wound under it is a biohazard. Anyway, I wanted to offer a rewrite for the 😍 lovely poor uwu baby Stolas and his DEMON, BITCH OF A WIFE, Stella. (Yeah, the sarcasm's strong with this one)
First of all I love how her name means star 🌟. It ties in together nicely with the whole astrology aesthetic of the family. We're gonna ignore the born-to-be-a-bitch personality the show presented her as having and focus on what caused her issues.
First of all, she probably knew from a young age that she was going to be wed off into an arranged marriage (just like stolas), and she knew she had the responsibility of birthing an heir. That's going to affect how she views love and marriage in general. She'd see it as a transaction, that she can offer an heir and her body, and receive what she wants. I have no problem with her being a spoiled brat, a mean girl. In fact, take it up a notch. She can be both of that! She was probably given every materialistic thing she wanted since the day she was born other than love and affection. That probably made her narcissistic and selfish, with the "I get everything that I want and you can't stop me" attitude.
She's a party girl, and we stand for that. She seems to be very extroverted and outgoing, and that clashes with stolas' more subdued and introverted personality.
I see her as being EXTREMELY paranoid about appealing to the high society that she's a part of and keeping herself at the top of the food chain amongst other aristocrats, unlike stolas who only does it to keep face or avoid getting too much attention, she wants to be noticed ans seen. Her gossipy, high society friends also reinforce the fact that she never had normal friends who cared about her, and she never grew out of her mean girl phase.
I see her as someone with so much passion in her heart, and sadly, we had to see all that turned into rage. She has trouble controlling her temper and the constant rage that boils inside her, and she explodes and lashes out on people, especially stolas.
I see her going into a marriage with stolas with the same "I'll get what I want" attitude. He has power, money, and legions to his name, and he isn't necessarily bad looking. So stella is like, "Eh, might as well..."
He isn't her dream partner, but she goes into the marriage thinking she can mould him into her dream man. Or thinking he's meek enough to leave her on her own, or she could even manipulate him to do as she pleases. None of those go as planned, though.
.
.
.
I can lowky see her dragging him around as she shops and him just wanting to die inside, lol
Oh my, Anon, this quite a lot of words, but I actually really love your rewrite, I can see Stella actually watching Mean Girls while Stolas dies inside and just stares at the infinite lmao
But sadly, this is a Viv show, and you know that women in these kinds of shows aren't allowed to have any nuance beyond a one-note use or personality trait, unless they're stepping stools for the male cast, which in that case, they're allowed to have a bit more of depth, but not too much.
And yeah, actually, now that you mention it, the Goetia demons shouldn't have been in Helluva, if anything, they should've been shown on Hazbin, like you said, because we are following along a protagonist that was born in royalty (Charlie) and it would make a lot of sense to see the Goetia demons there, since it would be a royal meetup or something like that.
And lastly, about the porn... I can corroborate this since a lot of the designs made by Viv or by her team look... conventionally attractive, so conventional that's artificial and try hard at times, and also, pretty safe but sometimes pushing the limits a bit to pander to gay people (Vortex, Asmodeus and Satan, to name a few muscular characters that are quite popular, but also Moxxie, Chaz and Striker, also popular in the gay side of the fandom) but it always boils down to the same purpose: to get people horny, and this is exemplified so painfully clear when Loona shook her ass towards the camera in one of the episodes, turning out to be shameless furry bait, and when I say that these shows are gooning and softcore porn shows, it's because of deliberate shit like this.
But alas, thanks for your input, Anon, it's greatly appreciated and it's quite the palette cleanser to see someone competent pick up Viv's mess and restructure it into something actually compelling and nuanced.

Six Thoughts on Neve x Rook
These have been rushing around my brain like feral animals so:
If you save Minrathous/romance Neve, DA:V is the story of how Neve begins to process past trauma. When she enters the game, she is the cynical detective with a heart of gold. By the end of the game, she's squishier - willing to let others in even if it means heartache. She's a softy at her core and I think it's important to remember that soft ≠ weak.
By the end of the game, Neve still has a lot of trauma to process. I mean hell, I'm in my 30s and I'll probably be processing mine the rest of my life.
The pace of the game makes it impossible for Neve to shore up her defenses. Whether it's another team member showing her kindness, Rook getting under her skin, or the way things come to a head in Dock Town, Neve's coping mechanisms are completely overwhelmed. I think the dock kiss was a slip up - something that would never have happened if they weren't running around, fighting a desperate struggle. But the aforementioned soft side is literally clawing its way out. It saw the opening in Neve's defenses and leapt at the chance.
Neve is a workaholic but not in the normal sense. For reference, I'm a workaholic - I just worked 25 days straight (12 hours a day at least) because I love my job and the work I'm doing. But, at the end of the day, I still felt some regret. I lost so much time I could've spent doing other things. If Neve was doing all of this purely out of her own curiosity - which seems to be her defining character trait - I'd say she was a simple workaholic. But the dock scene tells a different story. Neve is convinced that her efforts don't matter. That nothing she does sticks. So she fights. Works even longer hours. All in the hopes that someday, something will stick and she'll feel worthy of people's gratitude. She doesn't regret the time lost because she doesn't think she deserves it.
As @scripts4dreamers post pointed out, Neve isn't magically healed of her desire to run by endgame. It will probably continue to come out, and they (Rook and Neve) will have to work through it together. It probably won't be as dramatic as my fic makes it out to be, but there will be a lot of emotional blocks that Rook will have to fight through if she wants to stay with Neve.
This is my PERSONAL opinion but: some friends and I have a running joke about people who appear to be tops but are actually bottoms. We call them ATABs (Assumed Top, Actual Bottom). In all honesty, Neve is probably a switch, but I like the idea that Neve puts on an act so people don't know how soft she is - or, how touch starved she is. That she loves being taken care of. And for my service-top Rook, that's quite a treat. ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡° )

Ben and Jeff with a child reader thats like nezuko?:33
-🎀
Summary: Ben Drowned and Jeff the killer x (platonic) Child!Reader with the personality of Nezuko from Demon Slayer
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: Mentions of speculated abuse, but nothing ever goes into detail
Credits: Ben Drowned- Creepypasta, Jeff The Killer- Creepypasta, Blood divider- bucciniexe, Code divider- sister-lucifer
A/n: I haven't watched Demon Slayer in a HOT minute so bear with me, I may get some personality traits wrong ourghhh....
Ben Drowned
So generally Ben doesn't worry himself with kids
The most he is ever seen interacting with children is when giving them their uniforms and job instructions after they first join the mansion
Sometimes you will catch him trying to spook the older children, but typically he keeps the pranks to a minimum around kids
All of this is to say, he doesn't get to know many of the children at all
But when you first came to the manor it was pretty much mandatory that everyone you'd be interacting with knew at least a few basic rules for interacting with you
You had to keep the little plastic "chew toy" in your mouth at all times, because you tended to be very bitey without it, and due to your sharp teeth it would cause the victim to (at the very least) need a few stitches
You tend to get a little slobbery, especially around meats, but it's nothing to worry about unless your pupils start restricting (which would only happen if you were on the brink of starvation)
No sudden movements around you, because you would instinctually defend yourself
And by defend yourself I mean tear anyone who isn't also a demon to shreds
Other than that, you were a very friendly kid!
Ben had no intentions of interacting with you too regularly, but due to him being the first person (aside from slender) you interacted with, you kind of just followed him around
And after a while, he just sort of became your caretaker
For the most part, you're pretty easy to take care of
You don't wander much, and seem to take more pleasure in observing the world around you
You're also very quiet, only ever making noises to signify your thoughts on something when asked directly
But when you do get antsy, well
Lets just say there's a reason they call you a demon
For example, lets say if you don't wanna go down for bed
Due to your nocturnal nature, you go to bed right as the sun is coming up
But a lot of the other children are just waking up then
And tonight it seemed, you wanted to stay up so you can play with the other kids for once
Ben tried to be nice for a while, but after a bit he got tired of being nice and began trying to wrestle you down into your bed at least for long enough so he could lock your door and have you trapped in there for the night
But when you wanted to be, you were a fast little thing
so every time he got you tucked in, you'd be already down the stairs and trying to hide by the time he blinked
And due to him having to take a more solid form to hold you down, he ended up with lots of scratches from you fighting him
He ended up having to hold you down while Jeff closed and locked the door, and just phased through the door
Needless to say, Ben already hates being a parent and he doesn't even have any kids of his own yet
But you're starting to grow on him
Jeff The Killer
Honestly, Jeff isn't to crazy about the whole "Chew toy" thing
It reminds him a lot of a muzzle, and with how he (and a lot of the other residents) were raised, it just really gives him a bad feeling
And as we know, Jeff would rather die than listen to authority
So one day he fucked around and found out when he decided to take off the plastic tube from your mouth
Almost immediately your body missed the stimulation of biting on something, and reached for the closest thing for you to bite
Which just so happened to be Jeff's arm
Even with his high pain tolerance, he couldn't help the shocked yelp that left him
So begun the walk of shame to E.J so he could get his arm patched up
"Why didn't they have their chewer on?" E.J asks as he sews Jeff's arm back together
Jeff coughs awkwardly before making up an excuse "Looked a little tight" he mumbles "Thought I'd loosen it"
E.J scoffs "Right. Well, now you know better"
"Yeah" Jeff grunts
After this, you always seem to be confused around Jeff
Not in a bad way, but whenever he is around, you cant help but look up at him like you're trying to decode what he's thinking
And in your little child brain, you think maybe he was trying to take yours so he had something to chew on
So one day you find a piece of scrap wood by the log storage, perfect for him you think
You wipe off all the loose dirt and bugs, and run off to go find Jeff
When you do find him in his room, you struggle to get over the pile of clothes in the middle of the walk way
He notices and picks you up over the pile and puts you into a clear-ish spot on his floor "Whaddya doin' in here, kid" He asks as he sits back down on his bed
You offer the wood to him, and he just stares at you
You offer it again with a grunt, and when he stares at you again you begin to crawl into bed beside him and into his lap
He raises a brow, but has no time to question what you are doing because almost instantly after you get into his lap, you are shoving the wood into his lips
He grabs your hand and pushes it away "Alright, that's good" he grumbles
He gets up, picking you up as well and carrying you over to the door
You kick your feet and whine, trying to get put down
He puts you down at the door, and you begin to reach up with the wood, trying to put it in his mouth
He closes the door in your face and you grumble frustratedly
Every time you see him, you try to put the wood in his mouth, and it is only after complaining to Tim that he finally catches on
"The damn kid has no sense of personal boundaries! Puttin' wood in my face and shit"
"They are trying to get you to chew on it"
".....dawg."

Milieugender: A Guide
[pt: Milieugender: A Guide /end pt]
An explanation on why being against BAF transfems and BAM transmascs is harmful, and why transness shouldnt be restricted to one's birth sex.
"Woah, Idwl! Those are a lot of words! What does this one mean?"
Milieugender
BAF
BAM
Exorsexism
Transmedicalism
Bioessentialism — “Bioessentialism, a shorthand for biological essentialism, is the idea that we are born with specific, immutable traits by virtue of our sex. To a bioessentialist, sex maketh man.” Sourced from here
Please read this post all the way through until making assumptions or coming to conclusions. I would appreciate if readers kept an open mind while reading.
Introduction
[pt: Introduction /end pt]
The trans community, like any other community, is often divided on multiple topics and viewpoints. That is the nature of community; everyone has differing opinions. One topic that's been plaguing trans spaces as of lately has been the existence of BAF transfem and BAM transmasc folk.
BAF transfem and BAM transmasc are identities often used by those who are intersex, nonbinary, or detrans, but there are a slew of other reasons to use this term, as well. But we're not here to discuss the term itself; there's plenty of other posts explaining why people identify this way. No, today I would like to dicuss the people who are against it, and how it's rooted in bigotry.
This post is long, because multiple types of bigotry play into arguments against this identity. I'm here to talk about them all. This post does not aim to spark discourse, but rather, I aim to spark polite discussion, and help others understand the implications of being against this deeply nuanced and complex identity.
Transmedicalist Rhetoric
[pt: Transmedicalist Rhetoric /end pt]
First off, I want to start with how transmed rhetoric plays into being anti milieugender. Simply put, being against these identities is deeply rooted in transmed rhetoric. What is transmed rhetoric, though? And what does this mean for folks against this identity?
Transmed— a shortening of transmedicalist— is a person who believes that dysphoria is required to be trans.
This is rhetoric that has often hurt the community rather than helped. Why exactly is transmed rhetoric harmful, though? It is because it has often been weaponized against nonbinary people, used to uphold the gender binary, and invalidate nondysphoric trans people. It has also been weaponized against the MOGAI community; those with neogenders and xenogenders have often especially been the target of transmeds.
But how does this tie into milieugender experiences? Well, arguments against milieugender folk often rely on the very same arguments that transmeds use towards non-dysphoric or nonbinary folk; arguments about validity, struggle, dysphoria, etc...
A huge part of transmedicalism is viewing transness as involving suffering— transness, to transmeds, is not a happy or prideful thing, or an identity, but a medical condition. Most transmedicalists also view medical transition as necessary to being trans.
What I really want to point out here is that tidbit about transness involving suffering. Most transmeds, as a product of viewing transness as requiring dysphoria, view suffering as necessary to the trans experience. This argument, no matter how you come to the conclusion, is harmful.
You can see this argument when BAF transfems are brought up; often, it is argued that BAF transfems cannot be transfem due to not understanding the experience of MTF folk. This experience? Transmisogyny. I have seen similar arguments for BAM transmascs. Isn't it a bit harmful to boil down transness to one's discrimination and hurt?
(As well, to act like milieugender folk do not experience discrimination is just plain wrong; as, again, these people are often nonbinary, intersex, detrans, multigender, etc.)
So, while not inherently transmedicalist, arguments against milieugender folk often rely on the same kind of arguments that transmeds use.
Intersexism
[pt: Intersexism /end pt]
(Due to me being perisex, I consulted intersex people for assistance in writing this section. Thank you to @the-astropaws for your assistance.)
Most people who are milieugender identify as such because they are intersex. While perisex people still use these labels, yes, a lot of intersex folk do, too. Due to this fact, being against these labels is rooted in intersexism. I would like to touch on this.
Most arguments against milieugender folk involve some sort of statement about how they can't transition to something they already are, or are seen as.
When you imply that BAF trans women are already seen as women, and thus don't need to pass or transition, you are making a lot of assumptions about these trans girls. Yes, even perisex folk. By reinforcing the fact that BAF = feminine, you are reinforcing bioessentialism, which directly hurts intersex people. You are also invalidating the experience of intersex people.
User @/the-astropaws explained very well how this argument is intersexist. I would like to quote what one member of The Alternates, Aoba, said on this topic. I cleaned it up a bit, but it should have roughly the same meaning.
"[Claiming] all afabs are default feminine or can't "transition to fem" [...] is just, not true at all for both perisex n intersex people. The idea that afab = grew up feminine is the same excuse literal terfs use against intersex people who say they're tfem regardless on if they say they're afab OR amab.. an agab does not mean anything about what people were raised or seen as. [Enforcing] that idea on perisex people is [by] default targeting intersex people like me that did not at all get a default based on agab?? [While the] perisex experience will never be the Exact Same as an intersex experience, [...] many have similarities and a lot of wording hurts both sides"
Exorsexism
[pt: Exorsexism /end pt]
Let's take a common argument, one I've heard multiple times: "BAF trans women are already women, and aren't trans. If you're BAF and a woman, you're cis."
Before I delve into this argument, what is exorsexism? It is linked above, but to put it plainly, it is the discrimination against nonbinary individuals, intersex individuals, and those with gender modalities other than cis and trans. Here, we will focus on it's definition as discrimination against nonbinary individuals.
Further defined, as quoted from the MOGAI miraheze wiki, "exorsexism is the belief that the only allowable genders are wholly and exclusively male and wholly and exclusively female, and one cannot identify as both male and female, or as neither male nor female. It also includes the belief that the only allowable gender modalities are wholly and exclusive cis and wholly and exclusively trans, and one cannot identify as both cis and trans or as neither cis nor trans."
So, I'm sure you can see how this argument is, quite plainly, relying on a lot of exorsexist rhetoric. Even if you're not comfortable with BAM nonbinary people calling themselves transmasc, or BAF nonbinary people calling themselves transfem, to imply they're cis is disrespectful. It is also heavily ignorant of other's gender experiences.
There are multiple reason someone may be a girl and BAF, or a boy and BAM yet not cis. Being bigender, for example. Being demigender. Being genderfluid. Being a forasgirl. These are all nonbinary experiences. To say all women who are BAF and all men who are BAM are cis or "basically cis" is simply incorrect. It also relies on exorsexist rhetoric, because you are implying that womanhood cannot exist outside of the binary; i.e, you are implying you can only be either wholly, solely female or wholly, solely male. It's also invalidating to multigender folk, who often do not identify as cis.
Transphobia
[pt: Transphobia /end pt]
There's another part about arguments against these identities, and that's the fact that they're also rooted in plain transphobia. This quite frustrates me; in an attempt to protect FTM and MTF trans folk, when arguing against milieugender identities, FTM/MTF identities are often invalidated.
I would like to bring back a point from the intersexism section; the fact that milieugender folk cant be trans because they're already perceived as their gender. e.g. BAF transfems are already (perceived as) feminine, and BAM transmascs are already (perceived as) masculine.
By saying that being BAF inherently means you are feminine, or perceived as such— even for perisex folk— you are implying (intentionally or not) that ftm trans men and transmascs are inherently (seen as) feminine. You are equating the female sex and femininity as going hand in hand. The same goes for if you make this argument for BAM transmascs and manhood.
Sex should be an inherently neutral thing,. To imply sex comes with certain characteristics, once again, reinforces bioessentialism, which hurts trans folk.
This argument, while not intended to hurt FTM or MTF folk, will inadvertently do so, in one way or another.
Hypocrisy
[pt: Hypocrisy /end pt]
Generally, I also think it's just quite hypocritical to be against identities such as these if you're for other good faith identities. Isn't the whole point of good faith identities to, you know, assume good faith? Sure, some labels may not make sense or seem weird, but really, what harm do milieugender folk bring to the community? They're not appropriating labels any more than a boy identifying as a lesbian, are they?
Ultimately, it harms nobody. One cannot help if a label is most euphoric for them, or makes them most comfortable. And while FTM/MTF folk deserve their own spaces, certainly, milieugender folk existing isn't harming those spaces. In fact, most milieugender folk are aware of the differences between themselves and FTM/MTF folk, and try their best to be respectful.
This isn't to say there aren't entitled or hurtful milieugender people, but you know what?
There are entitled and hurtful people everywhere.
The whole point of transness is that it's for everybody. Why are we denying it from anyone? Why are we denying people happiness? Have we learned nothing?
Queer exclusion will always hurt queer people, period.
Redefining trans girl, transfem, transmasc, and trans boy
[pt: Redefining trans girl, transfem, transmasc, and trans boy /end pt]
So, where does that lead us?
I think, as a queer community, we should redefine transness. Transness has always been a label of self-identification, one you had to opt-in to by your own choice.
Trans girls should just mean girls who are trans. Trans boys should just mean boys who are trans.
Transness, now, places a focus on the birth sex. Personally, as a trans man, I would feel a lot happier if trans man would come to mean a man who was trans. Because it makes him happy. And who are we to deny queer people happiness and their right to self-identify?
Not only that, but this is better for everybody. It will include intersex people, people who dont plan on physically or socially transitioning, nonbinary people— it will include all people who feel as though they are trans. It's also, ultimately, safer.
While you may still not agree with my identity, I hope you were at least able to get something out of reading this.

Just finished the second one after a bit of a holiday delay. And you know what? It was a bit better! You can tell the author found her groove writing the main 3's dynamic, though I have some issues that I'll get into.
Jinafire and Skelita feature in this one, though their roles are very small and they pretty immediately fall into the antagonists control (seemingly) Toralei does show up, and just like Cleo, she sucks! The author wrote the two of them so horribly, and I think it's such a shame cuz mean girl characters can be very fun, and I think in the other medias the two of them are.
Speaking of mean girls...Venus kinda is one! There were so many instances of her being rude, and being attitudinal kinda seems like her main personality trait. She'd say something out of pocket to someone, and then get mad when they handed that energy back to her, it was kinda infuriating.
Unfortunately Rochelle went right back to being annoying as well. She's written to be blunt and take things very literally, to the point where she comes across as pretty insensitive a lot of times, but it's explained away as being a "gargoyle thing". Maybe it would be a little less bothersome if she wasn't also super condescending at times, especially with how she constantly corrects others. It was also established in the first chapter that she and Garrott broke up at some point, so now her crush on Deuce is considered slightly less problematic.
Robecca was okay in this one. She said "bees knees" a lot less, thankfully. The story also started to touch on the disappearance of her father, who in this story was fully normie, as well as Robecca's sensitivity on the subject. Her love interest Cy was all around lame and useless in this story, which is kind of a shame since he worked with the main 3 a lot in the first book, and they had a decent-ish dynamic. (He's also written to be a bit of a creep....he's always following Robecca around without her knowing. Granted when he does he normally comes to her rescue in some way but still...its weird.)
Overall though, the thing that bugs me about the narrative is that it seems like it hinges on everyone in the school being stupider than the main 3. Everyone but them got brainwashed in the first book, everyone but them trusts the lady who brainwashed them in the first place. Like come on...if this was a MH movie or webisode, Ghoulia would have figured everything out behind the scenes during a side plot. If they really wanted to make it believable, they'd have had her get kidnapped at the end instead of Headmistress Bloodgood.
Oh but the illustrations is this one were delicious! I got so excited to see each one at the start of the chapters, and the chapters in this one were shorter than the first so there were a lot more. We got to see a bunch of other characters aside from the main 3, and it was such a treat! Really makes getting through these a bit less of a slog.
I'm like halfway through the first Ghoulfriends book and main three are so annoying. I'm hoping it's like a character flaw thing, where they'll recognize it and get better over the course of the series, but oof. Gitty did these ghouls so wrong.
They're beefing with Cleo for no reason...Venus flipped out on her out of nowhere (in the middle of class, unprovoked!!) for using paper bags and then sprayed her with hypno pollen, meanwhile Rochelle, who is in her own relationship, is hardcore flirting with her man!!! I wish the author had been more original when it came to giving them a "frenemy" there are so many options aside from Cleo! (Honestly Operetta would have been an interesting choice, but whatever)
Robecca's characterization is the most tolerable, but she's incredibly rambly, and the author decided to give her a bad sense of time for...reasons. And despite being British, she uses oddly Southern phrases while talking...its super strange. With Venus and Rochelle, I can see where her mind went with writing their characters, but Robecca honestly seems so opposite to her canon personality.
And her backstory was kinda mangled too. It's acknowledged that she was disassembled, and recently reassembled, and even that she previously lived with Mrs. Kindergrubber, but she's treated like a brand new student. No acknowledgement that it was Ghoulia who put her back together!
I understand giving the characters a fresh take, but it would have been pretty simple to integrate the actual canon. Robecca and Rochelle were introduced in the same movie, they were new to Monster High, just not new to all of the characters.
#ghoulfriends#ghoulfriends just wanna have fun#ghoulfriends series#i will say in terms of where the story is going i have no idea#theres so much happening lowkey lol#its interesting cuz like 70% of the story will be kinda slice of life and then shit will hit the fan outta no where#i also had an epiphany that i think the ghoulfriends personalities might be inspired by the powerpuff girls#you have the smart studious pretty one that takes on a leader role (and has bangs)#the mean green confrontational one with an attitude and a short fuse#and the sweet bubbly one that no one takes seriously#could be a coincidence tho its not like those are super original character traits#on to the next one i suppose the second left on a cliffhanger#also side note clawdeen has shown up very little and it makes me sad :(

Traditionally “Feminine” Female Characters
THAT person: We need more traditionally feminine female characters again!
Me: Oh… okay. What exactly makes a female character “traditionally feminine” in your opinion?
THAT person: Traditionally feminine female characters are kind! They are soft, peaceful, express their emotions all the time no matter what, and maybe they are also smart idk, but they are NOT warriors that are tough and “badass” just for the sake of it.
Me: Well, it sounds like you are voicing frustration about two dimensional female characters that so happen to be tough and “badass”. What I DON’T understand, is why that’s a problem when the character is a woman/femme, but not when said character is a man. Especially when, historically speaking, one dimensional male characters tend to be reduced to “just badass and strong and unemotional” and nothing else way more often than AFAB characters ever have. Whereas women have largely been reduced to “soft and emotional and weak” for the better part of western written history.
That person: Because men are supposed to be strong and tough and women are supposed to be soft and kind and weak—
Me: Oops! There it is.

I've seen people make human AUs and equate Winter's scavenger fascination with being like. a crazy cat person. and while that is really good and I do think Winter would and should be crazy about cats, I do think like... if you are going to give him an equivalent interest you gotta go nicher than that. Like, being a Cat PersonTM is a thing like half the population identifies at. You GOTTA go stranger. He needs to be regularly attending reptile conventions. He needs to daydream about owning a praying mantis. He needs to yell at underpayed PetSmart workers about how small the fish tanks are that they keep the bettas in. He needs to be offered the chance to hold a snake and he needs to talk to that snake like he's greeting the queen. He needs to show you photos of tarantulas please please please look at his pictures please of his tarantulas
#in my. non magic AUs I mean where the scavenger characters just kind of stop existing as opposed to like. the scavenger characters Are The#Animals because I think the ways that get handled can get pretty dicey really quickly especially depending on the like#type of animal one picks to do that with if you don't make them just The Dragons Instead which I think is more appropriate#wings of fire#wof#human wof#winter#winter wof#i don't mean to imply that fish are a weird pet to keep but i do mean to imply that like#being a cat person is not necessarily a personality trait so much as it is a like... preference of a person. but if somebody told me they#were a “fish person” the way they would identify as a dog/cat person I WOULD count that as a personality trait and I'm saying whatever that#trait is winter has it

This family dinner is gonna fucking suck
#'ox-eyed' is a term I stole from Homer (along with 'dog faced')#In this cultural context the term is used to compliment brown eyes. Not just applied to brown eyes in general but to describe#someone's as uniquely pretty (usually with the implication of a soft or calm gaze). Applied more frequently to women than men.#I've gone over Ganmachen before but that one refers to the ox birth sign and is a mostly complimentary epithet for people who#have the associated traits. It literally means 'ox faced' but the mache/machen word for face doesn't refer to the anatomical face#rather some perceived essential/fundamental aspect of one's nature being their 'face'#There's a ton of other '-faced' epithets both in regards to birth signs and not#and adding the -machen suffix to a description of a person emphasizes the quality being described#Like calling someone 'brave-faced' would be a bigger compliment than just 'brave'- describes this bravery as fundamental to their being#(I don't write this kind out in-text though because the concept of 'faced as descriptive emphasis' doesn't work in english)#(I'd just say like 'very brave' or etc)#'braileig' is the term for a horse foal in the western Highlands dialect. This started as Brakul insulting Janeys with the descriptor#'little lost foal in a blizzard' (which more biting than it sounds- describes someone as pitifully helpless). Janeys was paying#more attention than he thought and had picked up enough to recognize that he was being called a horse baby. Brakul eventually#started using just 'braileig' as a nickname

Me a month ago: am I crazy for thinking ppl are giving GEQ too much grace and credit that they would not give Marika, despite GEQ is a barely established character and we never even know her past surface level? Am I overreacting for being so upset ppl will give GEQ all the good traits and relationships that is canonically Marika’s? Maybe I’m being too dramatic….
Me after one look over the internet: I am not being dramatic.
#congrats GEQ for being a character that gets my dislike button and she doesn’t even appear at all yet#ppl need a vessel to store all good traits Marika is implied to have in canon so they can continue to trash on her it’s insane man#sorry to GEQ fans in the chat if you don’t do this I don’t mean you 🥲#but on god these days if I see that kind of fanon GEQ it’d be on sight#personal#also this same shit happens in j j k with Geto and Maki lol if you know you know. I’ve seen this play before

I have all of these extended thoughts on my head about the amazing way themes and character relationships are handled in Iruma-kun and the inclusion of queerness and the handling of the coming of age narrative in this shonen manga/anime
And every time all that comes out when I'm reccing it is "You should watch/read it"
Do it. Go watch/read Mairimashita! Iruma-kun/Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun
Please.
#mairimashita! iruma kun#m!ik#welcome to demon school iruma kun#i just be ramblin#anime recommendation#manga recommendation#Like okay baseline on its surface it's an isekai anime about a teenage boy who is sold to a demon by his terrible parents and has to go to#school in the demon realm and live there without being found out (otherwise he thinks he'll be eaten)#But it's also a story about growing up and a story about a kid from a terrible situation learning what it means to (and being allowed to)#have goals and ambitions and wants#It's about a kid who gets all his needs met for the first time in his life (and a little spoiled) and figures out he wants everyone to have#that#It's about friendship and bonds and the importance of working together with others#It debunks that usual take about how humanity's base traits are evil and greed and the urge to murder and steal and whatnot through#the comparison to demons‚ who are said to be all of those things at their core and yet in actuality aren't beholden to it#It's about outcasts coming together not letting other people determine their worth and proving just how high they can reach and what they#can accomplish. they force the world to recognize them instead of assimilating#It's about what happens to outcasts who are taken in by bad actors vs outcasts who get genuine support#It's about kindness#It's about how adults should both help the next generation improve while also being their defenders from things they shouldn't have to#handle yet#It's even about the dangers of being fully selfless or fully selfish. How personal desire/the serving of oneself and kindess/the serving of#others should be balanced#About how desire is not inherently terrible and about how being constantly self serving stunts one's growth#And it's also about a human who got sold to a demon and is gonna be the demon king one day#Thinking about this manga makes me want to chew through concrete I love it so much#*how constantly serving others stunts one's growth

thinking about this post but also it's more than that. do you ever think about how stories starring men are allowed to be about humanity but stories starring women have to be about Womanhood
#it's just the same discourse from like the 2010s about how girls will read about boys but boys won't read about girls#and we haven't gotten anywhere#even when it's like in a feminist way!!! there's room for stories about Womanhood obviously#but believe it or not ''women'' is not the only significant trait or experience that that half of the population has#and frankly I think it's counterproductive to focus every woman-centric narrative on the Woman aspect in some kind of feminism way#especially I feel like in adaptations that get a more hashtag feminism focus! like that story was about a person that was a woman#and you made it into a story about Women. which. ok#but was it not enough for her to just be a human being#experiencing human experiences that perhaps men could relate to#but a story with a male main character is allowed to exist on its own terms#no one's like. okay the main theme of this is obviously something to do with masculinity#(unless that's actually true)#a man is still the default character to explore your ideas and adding the ''girl'' trait is seen as like this extra distortion#that you would add only if you wanted to explore Womenness#like everyone's putting a guy in situations but hey maybe your guy could be a woman#even if the specific situation doesn't call for it#did you ever think of that?#and a lot of it I think is because men are conditioned not to relate to female characters#so making a male character would work to expand your audience because female readers are still willing to invest in him but not vice versa#but that doesn't mean we should just keep perpetuating the cycle#and only making stories about women specifically for women about Womanhood#that's just cementing the problem even further#obviously this is all a generalization and there are exceptions#this also applies to things like race#like in the US if you're making a story with a nonwhite main character suddenly it has to be like About Race or something

When I came across that "joke" from Tav to Quill and Z'rell's comment (plus Halsin), I had to take a minute to process what happened. Gale might be a bit silly and eccentric but he's the kindest, sweetest and most passionate character in that party. No wonder the poor man has deep insecurities to solve, so many people reduce him to an easy target! Ofc one of the side effects would be overconfidence and ambition as a defense mechanism. He's obv lonely; only Tara and Morena ever loved him for him.
his eccentric nature might be a part of it. he is loquacious, outgoing, and doesn’t see the point in hiding his enthusiasm. he is considered to be the weird one. naturally, wizards in general being seen as somewhat squishy and physically weak might also add to it.
personally, i really don’t like the implications of the (widely considered) autistic-coded character being the one who faces the most ridicule by far by other characters and fans (and larian) alike.
some might disagree with me on that, but i don’t find it funny by any means either. mostly it just makes me feel bad. “he deserves it. cocky, arrogant, hubris-ridden wizard needs to be taken down a peg” like he isn’t… y’know… already at his lowest. it also disregards the fact that much of his bravado is part of his carefully curated Great Wizard of Waterdeep™ persona that he has skillfully adopted to mask his general feeling of being defective. being fiercely proud of your skill and knowledge and being doubtful of having something truly worthwhile to offer are mindsets that can coexist. according to fandom, gale is either secret hubris incarnate that is only waiting to be unleashed upon the world or pure baby that can do no wrong. instead of a character that is just as flawed and traumatized as all the others, but no less deserving of genuine love.
to me, the constant ridicule just reads as further feeding into his deep-rooted insecurities and his belief that he (as gale, the person) isn’t someone who holds inherent worth. it really, really doesn’t sit well with me.
#gale dekarios#gale of waterdeep#bg3#baldurs gate 3#but then again i believe that fandom still has a hard time grasping his character as a whole#we always talk about wanting complex and complicated characters that contain multitudes#but once we get them we don’t know what to do with them#and proceed to try our hardest to reduce them to a few select traits#gale is a kind and good-hearted person. that is not up for debate.#anyway gale deserves people around him who respect and cherish him and are genuinely supportive#protect that wizard and shower him in all the adoration. he needs it.#and i get you anon!!! i also really wish we could call out our companions & npcs#my tav would always keep a spray bottle on hand just in case#someone is being mean to gale again? [pssssht pssshhht] u stop that right this instant#on that note i also don’t like the undertone tav has when they have the option to talk about gale to other parties#what’s with the hesitancy and the derisive undercurrent???#am i supposed to pretend that my tav wouldn’t turn into the personification of the will smith meme whenever they had the option to#talk about their bf/husband???? lies and slander#larian critical#it speaks

The "Dan Heng is Dan Feng" dogmatics annoy me a lot. It entirely brushes off one of the most interesting and prevalent questions posed by the game, incarnated by several characters and stories that give the question different hues with different potential answers, and a constant also in HI3, like a thread waving the two games together
#The question about what makes a person themselves is super interesting#Is it the memories? Is it personality? Is it body? Is it resemblance? What about narrative reiteration?#Bronya is not Silver Wolf but they're both HI3 Bronya but also they're not#Is March the same person she once was? What about the Trailblazer? Welt looks at Himeko and Silver Wolf and feels like drowning#but he is looking at nothing other than something eerily recognisable#Vidyadhara are reborn anew as if washed clean but Dan Heng's process was skewed. What does it mean to Dan Heng?#He has the body he has the moves he has the stern haughty air he has muddy memories he can't quite recall but something stays#Is he or is he not the same? Where does one end and the other start? Where do they overlap?#Does how others regard him influence whether he is or isn't Dan Feng?#Does the memories of others weight more than your own memories and will?#What does constitute a person? How is selfhood constructed? What are the ontological implications of all this?#If you respond to these questions one way in one context when it comes to one character‚ can you confidently reply the same thing#in a different context for a different character? If not‚ why? What does it say?#It's not a straight up answer. The question is what's interesting and it's what makes Dan Heng's story interesting#Seeing it dogmatically negated mainly for the purpose of a ship annoys me a lot#It is a constant in HSR but it's even more clear after playing HI3. This problematic about what constitute identify and selfhood#and whether or not they're the same thing is a constant there too. With Kiana‚ with Otto‚ with Kevin‚ with Fu Hua‚ with the simulations#of the Flame Chasers most notably with Mobius but in general with the continuation of their goals and feelings‚ Klein as human and as ELF‚#the iteration of consciences of the Herrschers‚ the puppets of the Herrscher of Domination‚ the influence of the Herrscher of Corruption‚#the many times characters are found in different universes being slightly different yet recognisable‚ the amount of times characters seem#to reiterate existences in different eras‚ echoing past selves with past faces yet different‚...#And usually it's not easy to respond to all of them with the same answer‚ which only opens more questions. It's extremely interesting#and it's obviously a topic Honkai as a game cares about a lot. But no. Nothing matters. Dan Heng *is* Dan Feng yes or yes no questions asked#No problematic. No questioning. No doubts. All usually because of a ship. That the drive. I don't know... I'm all for shipping#but I quite dislike when shipping gets so out of hand it crushes and brushes off good writing or core motifs in a text. It's... shabby#And it saddens me haha. Why do you even care about these characters and their dynamic if you're erasing core traits of them as characters?#Abfkabdkkd anyway...#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#But I had to vent a little. It annoys me a lot this kind of approach to analysis what can I say

i kind of hate to say it because i feel like i'll get pushback for it,,, but i kind of feel like if you're going to be making informational posts about autism online you do need to be reading actual autism research and literature. at least some of the times. like you can't just make things up and then present them as fact.
#N posts stuff#i guess as a defense the post i'm vaguing about doesn't actually attempt to Completely redefine a trait; just partially redefine it#but 'literal interpretation' in autism does Not refer to ambiguity in question answering. it does mean literal interpretation#very notably if you read Anything about autistic kids you'll see examples of them#fumbling with metaphorical and non-literal language.#a girl being told she can 'walk on ahead' and confusedly trying to flip herself upside down to Walk On Her Head#a kid being taught how to use a knife being told he should curl his fingers in 'like a cat's paw' and getting mad because#he has human hands and Not cat's paws.#kid being told he wears his heart on his sleeve and angrily arguing that his heart wouldn't beat properly outside of his chest#you can't just say 'well i loved wordplay so they must mean something else when they talk about this' they don't.#i notice a lot of that kind of. flattening? of autistic traits online and it can start to get a little frustrating#like dont' get me wrong i don't exactly hold the psychiatric field in high esteem but i feel like if you're using their diagnostic#terminology you kind of Have to play in the diagnostic criteria that those terms define. you can't just rewrite it entirely#the psychiatric field still exists so their framework is what you have to work under if you're using their terms#don't misunderstand me i'm not protesting against self-diagnosis or anything like that. i was self-diagnosed for years before i got my DX#but like. you also can't just rewrite the diagnostic criteria because you want to make a certain argument.#at a certain point you just sound incredibly misinformed. or like you're just outright lying...#or at least trying too hard to extrapolate your personal experience to the broader community in ways that Don't Fit.#yeah the diagnostic criteria might be in some ways inaccurate and biased but. you can't really just Make Up your own and claim#that's what they Really Meant all along. it doesn't make sense.#<- guy being too pedantic for its own good but. i mean. i don't know what we expected.
