Summary: Wei Wuxian gets caught sneaking into Cloud Recesses. But since he can't tell the truth - that he's just here to deliver his teacher's most recent love letter to her soulmate who's stuck in a cave - he tells a lie instead. He says that he's a Jiang disciple that had arrived late and so had snuck in through the gates. He hadn't expected the lie to work, sure that it would unravel as soon as they found a Jiang to verify it, but instead Jiang Yanli backs up his story, and even adds to it. Which is how he ends up masquerading as the first disciple of Lotus Pier while trying to figure out how to get out of Cloud Recesses without anyone discovering that he's the disciple of Baoshan Sanren.

Mojo's comments: I am so charmed by this wwx… as is EVERYONE else who crosses his path. He spends his childhood running up and down Baoshan Sanren's mountain, getting into trouble, and expands his territory to include stumbling across Lan Yi, whereupon he takes it upon himself to begin carrying love letters back and forth between his two immortal 'Aunts'. Which is how he winds up getting busted by lwj and lying that he's the Jiang Sect's first disciple. Author loves the women of mdzs, and it's delightful to see how strong and clever they can be, from jiang yanli to wen qing to the immortals. POV is more or less everyone, and it's hilarious to see their interpretation of events based on how much they've figured out about all the things wwx is trying to hide. Wwx is bamf (he knows all the sects' sword forms which is so sexy of him: or at least lwj thinks so!) and powerful and determined to protect all his newfound families when the Wens come a'knocking.

This was my original idea for the Close Quarters Exchange (for the tag 'immortal together'), but I changed my mind when I wasn't sure I'd be able to hit the deadline (and also that my giftee may prefer a wangxian that fit more in the spirit of the classic 'close quarters' trope). Which was correct! But also then I decided to do it anyway, in one day. So forgive any rough edges.

as well as being xiao xingchen's birthday, it's a full moon tonight - the quiet moon! so @sugarapplebaby and i decided to collab on another piece set in the threads that bind us fic verse! they did the linework, and i did the coloring, and turning it into a gif sadly reduced the quality a bit haha but it was an absolute pleasure to work on this 🌕💗 we came up with the idea for this fic together, so it was extra special to create this together!

i think xingchen deserves all the full moons in the world, don't you?

I love reading MDZS/The Untamed fics were Wangxian get married in the cave and one of the tags says "Baoshan Sanren/Lan Yi", and Lan Yi is giggling inside bc that's her girlfriend's grand-disciple(idk how tha works tbh) marrying her descendant.

“Sorry it's just what has become of our legacies. My own is filled with hypocritical judgmental practices that are held up on a mountain sized pedestal.” his scowl marred his beautiful features.

“It’s not your fault.” Lan Yi tried to defend but he just shook his head.

“Really you don’t think so. My legacy has segregated the genders to the point the don’t even share classes, not thought of or treated with the same respect. The whole sect strangled by rules with no context, contradiction added in the disguise of righteousness. 300 rules I created to guide the next generation, but each one had context.” He clenched his fist in anger.

“300,” Lan Yi gasped outraged. “When I took over leadership there was already 1800 rules, where did it all go wrong!” she was furious. “I would have loved only having 300 rules.” she looked almost wistful imagining how different her life may have been, Baoshan chuckled at her expression.

“It started with your father and the council I left hoping to protect your mother my daughter. Instead, they followed flow of politics at the time they started amassing the power for themselves and began to slowly strip your mother’s power away whilst still using all the knowledge and scores of music I left.”

We begin Fractured Brother's with a totally messed up confrontation at the Guanyin Temple. It's bad enough that it draws the attention of a number of Immortals and several gods. We learn a bit about the history of two Sects, Jiang and Lan. A choice has to be made by the two Immortals with which we are most familiar, and time is rewound.

There are immediate changes to the history as we know it. Wei Changze, for example, is much more important to the Jiang than rumor and innuendo would imply. The Lan and Nie stories change as well.

It's early days, the story has a way to go before completion. Even so, I'm extremely fond of the character of Wei Changze. There are scenes at Lotus Pier that are so satisfying to read. I predict major changes around Yiling as the Wei sect begins to make a comeback.

I've enjoyed the ideas of the Author so far and am eager to read more of this tale as it unfolds.

As a warning, do not expect Jiang Wanyin, Lan Xichen or Meng Yao to come across as sympathetic characters. The author doesn't promise redemption for any of them, and I completely agree.

What if Baoshan Sanren was under a curse where if she fell in love and tried to live HEA she would die? So she walks away from Lan Yi and goes to the secluded mountain.

What she doesn't realize until it's too late is that the abandoned children she raises into disciples inherit her curse. Those that leave the mountain, fall in love, and try to live HEA meet terrible fates.

Wei Wuxian inherits it from his mother Cangse Sanren. The only reason he is able to live HEA with Lan Wangji is because he already paid the price of his curse when he died.

Unfridging MDZS Women Bingo

Prompt 1: No Cultivation AU, Lan Yi & Baoshan Sanren

OK, so. I decided that both of these women are eligible for unfridging. BSSR wasn't dead, but she was Lady-not-Appearing-in-this-Novel, plus she lives on a cold mountain... That's a sort of fridge, right? right

I thought up a few non-cultivation AUs for them, and I especially liked the thought of them growing old together (who doesn't love old lady lesbians, and of course I imagined them with milfy Yan Wushi-esque white streaks in their hair)

But in this AU, you can imagine them both as lowkey chaos gremlins. They're probably crashing a celebration in order to get secret political info. They're definitely having fun.
