i finally managed to start drawing something for @songlanweek2024 ... but then i decided i wanted that to turn into a Proper Painting that would take way longer than i had so i didn't do that after all.

luckily i also had the little drawing of this one in my sketchbook so i quickly coloured that instead. and then fell asleep before i could post it.

...anyway it may not technically be Offical Song Lan Love Week anymore but ummm... i love him. and so does xiao xingchen :)

Xiao Xingchen sits cross-legged at the head of a bed, a pillow behind him, looking down with a smile at Song Lan, who's head he is cradling in his lap. Song Lan has his hands folded neatly on his chest, and looks up with a raised eyebrow as Xiao Xingchen gently caresses or pets his face, but he is smiling too. The colours are simple and faint.

this fic is technically a WIP that seems to be more or less abandoned but each chapter works pretty well stand-alone so I don't feel too bad about reccing it here. I really really love the character work in this, particularly the discussions songxiao have about the weight of being Gay Teen Idols famous folk heroes, particularly XXC carrying the reputation of BSSR.
