There's no real magic in him, just an affinity for mixing potions and using herbs…and the ability to see ley lines. For a split second he lets his eyes scan the sky for one of the tiny golden laser-streaks, and then tries to hide it by pretending he was rolling his eyes. Just a few feet over and up is his lifeline. But first...

There. From the left side of his belt, opposite the omniblade, comes a half-baguette-shaped piece of metal. With a flick of the wrist its other half pops out, turning it into a zip line handle with a tiny open claw on the top where the pulley should have been. He holds it above his head with both hands, and it pulls him, painfully slowly, toward the ley line hovering several yards above him. He hears James running up behind him, glances over his shoulder, and upon seeing the bloody murder face again, this time dripping the bluish blood of an elfin body, he wills his ascent to go faster. Once he's on the line, speed is no problem. But he has too far to go before the line's negative charge will really take hold. This is going to be the end. When the panting bull of an Englishman behind him catches him he'll be dead within minutes, or maybe dragged back to the Gluronts to have his spirit trapped in one of their special jars forever. In any case, he can say goodbye to this body…

Horatio closes his eyes as he feels his old body's fingers slam into his back, and starts apologizing to everyone inside his head, one by one…

Then suddenly something clanks onto his ley latcher, and he looks up to find a big black feathery body towing him into the air. He looks down and sees his old self several yards below him, trying to catch hold of the foot flying away from him.

Thank you, he thinks, as he feels the latcher's tiny metal claw close on the ley line.

You're welcome, silly beast, says the bird in his head.

Zipping the last thirty feet to the ley line crossing over the dimension gate, he smashes the release button with his thumbs and drops square in the portal, right in front of James's bleeding face.

I need to be salty for a hot second about people who are upset about aspects of Lucanis' romance.

I'll put everything else under the break for spoilers, but in general, I am so disappointed in a large portion of this fanbase who apparently thought "disaster" meant "romantasy," but also it's in keeping with how a lot of people seem unable to put things in context.

One of the complaints I keep seeing run past is that the scene where you commit to a relationship with Lucanis seems pefunctory, or out of the blue, there's nothing really romantic about it, it's too similar to the platonic route, etc, etc, ETC.

I romanced Emmrich, but I've seen other people's versions of romancing Lucanis. I'm just going to kind of word vomit here, and hope I can come up with something cohesive.

As someone who id's with Lucanis for "generational abuse" and "dumpster fire disaster bi" and "using socially acceptable drugs as coping mechanisms in place of addressing your problems" reasons, it's been really fucking annoying watching the almost deliberate misinterpretation of his character even after Mary Kirby dropped several explanations on social media. It's like a large part of the fanbase saw all that and turned into the "yes yes, very sad...anyway!" meme and went right on fetishizing him...then got mad when he didn't turn into the seductive Dom with wings they were hoping for.

You commit to Lucanis after (what I consider) a very intense scene inside his "mind prison." He's struggling so much internally that Spite wrests control of his body from him in front of witnesses and begs Rook to help them. Lucanis would never ask Rook to do so on his own, he's terrible at asking for the help he truly needs. Spite drags Rook into the Fade Ossuary and demands they free Lucanis from his self-imposed prison. And whether you're a friend or would-be lover, Rook slowly talks Lucanis out of a host of self doubts regarding his family and friends. Can he trust himself not to hurt other people, now that he's saddled with this affliction? Has he disappointed the people he cares about most? Do these new people he's coming to care about actually trust and care about him? The rooms are filled with fragmented thoughts that peter out into regrets. You're literally seeing Lucanis' fractured and complicated emotions.

One of them tore a hole straight through me: "You'd have to kill me...And Spite would die."

You'd have to kill him to get rid of the demon. And he'd regret the death of the demon that's protected him and given him strength, through a brutal year of betrayal and torment. I don't know if y'all remember the scenes in the Ossuary of the failed experiments and the corpses you had to pass to get to his jar of blood. It wasn't fun.

When you break out of the mind prison after helping him bond with Spite, it's intimate and momentous, even on a platonic route. You've seen desperate and lonely parts of him he'd never willingly show anyone.

As you're convincing Lucanis that it's okay to leave his mind-prison, you tell him you understand that it's easier to deal with problems like the Ossuary and Zara than healing and living with Spite, potentially hurting people he cares about. But he wants to. It's Rook's job to help him see a path out, a way for him to make the struggle easier so he can begin to heal himself.

I need to stress: you aren't "fixing" him. You're acting as his lighthouse, regardless of whether you're a friend or a lover. Sometimes people need help. He's still going to have to do the work to get there.

As a friend, it was extremely rewarding to come back to the kitchen and see him doing exactly as I'd hoped: moving on with the business of *living*. He made a nice dinner for everyone he's come to care for, and a special dessert for Neve. Cooking is where Lucanis finds creativity, and comfort, and connection with his friends and family. He isn't very good with words, but he will note everything you consume, and try to make you feel loved by expressing it that way.

Which is why I think it's important you don't dismiss the commitment on the romantic route. He remembers YOUR favorite drink and makes YOU a special dessert if you're romancing him. Lucanis isn't going to get poetic. You've already made him feel raw. You've seen the ugly, embarassing parts of him. What is he supposed to say? Usually it takes Spite reaching through his body to actually be direct. Instead, Lucanis reaches for food, his favorite medium, to try and apologize for inadvertently showing you those things, to thank you for helping him despite seeing what he considers the most shameful parts of him. Your commitment is letting him know that you value him, that he has nothing to be ashamed of, that you understand what he's trying to express with his struggling communication skills, which appear to get better as your relationship progresses from there.

It's weird that some of y'all don't feel that this is heartfelt and important, because you'd rather him act out some sensuous fantasy trope. It's also weird that some of you haven't figured out that many scenes in RPG's can be similar on platonic and romantic routes with tweaks to shade context.

(Also just in case this comes up: cooking is not his "love language" - that whole concept was invented by a misogynistic weirdo and we should remove it from our ideas of communication)

Anyway, this guy is my Rook's bestie and I'll go down swinging for him, you should appreciate the fuck out of him and stop acting like his writer didn't craft a perfectly funny little weirdo who is bad at showing people his tender parts and terrible at interpersonal relationships.

I know that Lucky Day is definitely a horror novel, but is it also going to be a spy novel?

no if anything it is also a science fiction or thriller along with horror but honestly i think it is mostly (and i am hesitant to use this word as there is a lot of baggage with it but here we go) LITERARY. maybe something like don delillo or thomas pynchon. at least that is how i see it.

it is VERY existential and i think the HORROR part comes from some very frightening existential ideas

i think there are TWO main thematic battles in the book. there is a bisexual character whose main journey is that of EXISTENCE vs NOTHINGNESS. i think this is the queer horror aspect because us bi buckaroos know what it is like to hear someone say 'bisexuals do not exist'. really the kernel for this idea was to say 'okay i want to write a story thats about a bi buckaroo FACING DOWN non-existence.'

and then there is the battle of ABSURDISM vs NIHILISM. when existence makes no sense then what are we supposed to do with that? how do you trot on in a world full of tragedy and grief? how do you make sense of a life that makes no sense?

i think buckaroos who are curious about my philosophy that LOVE IS REAL will really have a lot to pull apart in the trot of this story. it is VERY strange and goes very very deep into that kind of thing. honestly just a MASSIVE existential swing and i am happy that i have the support of a publisher willing to take it with me and to really press into these ideas with a large scale audience

Last year I released them in May, and I asked you when I should release it this year. You agreed I should release it early/mid april. And I think the perfect time is now! You have plenty of time to prepare your things for June!

So, here are 30 prompts, 1 prompt per day, for all of June! Use them for writing, or for art, or why not for something else creative you can come up with?

I will now write all the prompts in the list if it's hard to read, plus some explanations/suggestion what you can do for them.

Day 1. Actually, I'm not straight. Someone kicking off pride month by telling their nearest and dearest that they aren't straight, like everyone seems to think!

Buffy Fic Rec!!

girls, gays and theys of the buffy fandom… i have to put u onto the sweetest & funniest little fic ever.

It’s a perfect example of the queer-found-family trope, has very funny and in-character banter & features an adorable dawn-spike-sibling-relationship dynamic.

As a bi girlie, i got so much bi joy from the premise of this fic, which is that Spike (elder disaster bisexual) helps Dawn (baby disaster bisexual) come to terms with her bisexuality, which… as a result triggers an en-masse coming-out of the scoobies.

It’s also got a beautifully delicate balance of the bitter-with-the-sweet, as a good 50% of the fic is set during the time between seasons 5 & 6, & so contains a lot of Spike-helping-dawn through her grief.

Each character also feels so well fleshed out, with the writer having put so much thought into their dialogue and little quirks.

First, what is the Kanji?

Kanji is one of the three writing systems of the Japanese language – and arguably the oldest, most profound, and most symbolic of them. Originally adopted from Chinese, kanji consists of logographic characters – meaning that each one represents not just a sound or syllable, but carries meaning, often multiple meanings, depending on the context and combination.

You can imagine a kanji as a small image, a symbol that expresses an idea, a state, or a concrete thing. Some are very simple, like 木 (ki, "tree"), others are complex, like 鬱 (utsu, "depression" or "melancholy"), that gives you a headache just by looking at it.

Dabi (荼毘) – Tōuya Todoroki (轟燈矢)

Let's start with Dabi (荼毘)

The villain name of our beloved pyromaniac is a very good example of how versatile Kanji can be. How a single character takes on a completely new meaning when a second character is added.

荼 (Da) This kanji originally means “bitter herbs,” but in the Buddhist context it often refers to funeral rites, purification by fire, or the bitter taste of death.

毘 (Bi) means “help,” “protection,” but in combination with the first letter can also mean cremation – as in the word “荼毘 (Dabi)” itself, which actually means cremation in classical written language.

Tōuya Todoroki (轟燈矢)

From here on, it became clear to me that Kōhei Horikoshi had really put a lot of thought into the names of his characters. The meaning of the names partly reflects their quirks and stories.

Todoroki (轟) This kanji means "thunder" or "roaring sound" – a powerful, loud presence. It often stands as a symbol of strength, or something impossible to ignore – unmistakable and powerful.

Tōuya (燈矢)

燈 (Tō) means "lamp," "light," or "torch" – something that shines in the darkness and often symbolizes hope or memory.

矢 (Ya) means "arrow" – something straight, fast, and directed.

In summary, Tōuya Todoroki can be poetically interpreted as “bright arrow of thunder” or “torch arrow that passes through the thunder”.

Hawks – Keigo Takami (鷹見啓悟)

Our beloved red-feathered hero Hawks.

That's kind of ironic. Hawks had kept his real name secret for a long time, but he uses part of his surname as the name of his heroname – just in a different language.

Takami (鷹見)

Taka (鷹) means "falcon" – a bird of prey known for its speed, vision, and elegance.

Mi (見) means "to see," "to observe," literally "hawk vision" or "one who sees like a hawk."

Keigo (啓悟)

啓 (Kei) means "to reveal," "to explain," "to illuminate"—it is a symbol of insight, clarity, and sometimes a kind of guide.

悟 (Go) means "understanding," "awakening," or "spiritual understanding"—a deep, inner knowing.

In summary, Keigo Takami could mean “the enlightened falcon who sees with clear vision” or “the seeing, understanding falcon”.

Tomura Shigaraki (死柄木弔)

Tenko Shimura (志村転弧)

This will be very interesting.

Both names have great significance for the series and the manga. In my opinion, it reflects him perfectly.

Shigaraki (死柄木)

死 (Shi) means "death."

柄 (Gara) can mean "handle," "style," or even "pattern," and sometimes symbolizes character traits or external characteristics.

木 (Ki) means "tree" or "wood."

In summary, Shigaraki can be interpreted very loosely as “grasp of death”, “deadly trunk” or “wood of death”.

In addition, “Shigaraki” is also a real place in Japan known for ancient ceramics.

Tomura (弔)

(弔) Tomura is only one kanji, which is rather rare in Japanese, since many first names consist of two characters. It means "to mourn," "to grieve for someone," "to honor a deceased person." It is the act of silent lament, of remembrance, of pain over loss.

When you put the two together, you get a hauntingly beautiful, symbolic meaning: Tomura Shigaraki – “He who mourns death” or “Mourner from the wood of death.”

Shimura (志村)

志 (Shi) means “will,” “intention,” or “striving” – a sign of determination, of ideals deeply rooted in the heart.

村 (Mura) simply means "village." Shimura can be interpreted as a "village of will" or as a symbol of a family united by its ideals.

Tenko (転弧)

転 (Ten) means “to turn”, “to tilt”, “to change” – a Kanji of movement, change, sometimes also of destabilization

弧 (Ko) denotes an “arc” – both geometrically and symbolically, such as the course of a path, of a destiny that is not straight but curved, as if pulled by forces that cannot be escaped.

Tenko could therefore be interpreted as “the curved change” or “the upheaval on a curved path”.

Tenko Shimura – "The Change from the Village of Will" or "The Crooked Will, Born of Hope, Twisted by Pain."

Kaji (火児) Black

My OC Kaji, Dabi's son.

He was my first contact with the Kanji. Because of his background, I wanted a Japanese first name, while his last name is from Western countries. His mother has the surname Black and comes from Europe.

Kaji (火児)

火 (Ka) – the classic kanji for fire itself, not the fire, not the event, but the element, the essence – pure, powerful, ancient.

児 (Ji) – means child, offspring, sometimes even "little boy" in general. It has something innocent, something tender, almost contradicting the wildness of the first character.

His name means "child of fire," or more poetically: "the fireborn," "child of flames," "the boy born of embers."

And now comes my own paradox, which I just noticed... I actually chose the name Black because his mother has black wings and I thought it just fit.

Considering the meaning of “black,” the color, and everything that comes with it, like darkness or night, the name Kaji Black means what I imagined – “the child of fire, surrounded by darkness” or “The fire child who stands in the shadows.”

hey skyen, you mentioned about kuina that she seemed transmasc to you and in my experience i think more people see zoro as a transmasc person, the reason being is his want/need to break gender stereotypes rather than enforce them. through kuina, his story to become the greatest swordman is inherently about breaking gender roles. and personally i think a lot of transmascs see this as their relationship to cis women. (especially in how kuina pushes zoro into the "weak" category with him and parrots sexism without knowing how it affects him) i also think his story is WAY more satisfying from a gender perspective if you see him as transmasc, regardless of if its intended or not. (the truth is that theyre BOTH transmasc, actually, why not?) (idk if you read fanfiction, probably not, but the fanfiction Burning Man on ao3 really goes in depth with transmasc zoro. its also the best fanfiction ive personally read for op)

Yeah, I can absolutely see that.

On related lines, I've also seen an interpretation of the story that Kuina and Zoro are the same person, and that Zoro's flashback depicts a metaphorical series of events rather than literal, where he battles with his assigned identity over and over as a child and can never "beat" her, never overcome or break out from under her.

But when he realizes that his assigned identity is miserable and in pain, and that all that even she wants is to be a boy, he has to go through the trauma of seeing her die, and go out into the world as truly himself. Through that lens his quest to become the greatest swordsman in the world is, in part, a quest to spite every motherfucker on Earth who told his past self that he would never be able to transcend his assigned gender.

So long as you assume that Kuina's father is playing along with it to the point of setting up a grave for his dead daughter who never was, it does explain why he would let Zoro take away the Wado Ichimonji, an incredibly important and valuable family heirloom, and treat Zoro so much like a direct son.

The Three Sword Style already represents Zoro carrying Kuina's spirit and memory with him always - his two-sword style in the hands, her one sword style in his mouth - and in this reading the style would be carrying the memory and pain of his childhood with him, and letting it empower him to become greater than anyone without his experiences could ever be.

It's one of the nice things about One Piece, I think, that it is open to these kinds of interpretations. Luffy being aro/ace is basically canon, which I appreciate a lot, and nobody can tell me Nami and Vivi didn't have a mutual crush going during Alabasta, and there is no understanding of Ace I will accept where he wasn't the most bi/pan wandering disaster the Grand Line had ever seen since Roger.

I do hope the actual explicit text of the manga will catch up to that someday... I was really happy to finally see some actual transmasc rep with Yamato, and a bit more playfulness with gender in general in characters like Izou and Kikunojo in the Wano Country arc, and honestly canonically transmasc Zoro or Crocodile would be enriching to both of those characters, I think.

To that one comment:

V is 1000% implied to be bisexual. She blushes at N both at the manor and in present day in ep 5 and implies she either has a crush on him or some lingering feelings. And well...ALL her interactions with Lizzy imply something more between them. Is it confirmed canon? No. Is it heavily implied and a lot of the people who worked on the show feed into it? Yes.

I just find the V is a lesbian argument (like arguing actual canon, not headcanons. You can headcanon what you want. But the show does seem to imply actual sexulaties for V, Uzi, and Lizzy or at least a gender or two they're attracted to) annoying because no one every says Uzi is straight despite being in a straight presenting relationship. And yes, I'm aware of the "Weirdly hot robots" line but even before that everyone agreed Uzi was bi. And even with that line, TECHNICALLY you could just say she's saying V is objectively hot but she's not attracted to women. People do that all the time. Now is that what I think was meant by the line? God no, Uzi is a bi disaster for sure. But it feels like people actively avoid taking similar hints for V. Uzi isn't confirmed bi technically, and neither is V. But both are HEAVILY implied to be bi. You won't be convincing me Uzi isn't bi at least, that's for sure.

And hey, maybe it's just because I'm not lesbian and I never felt pressured to be heterosexual and that's why I find the argument stupid. If I was I'd probably be more on board to say that because of wanting representation and a character who's struggles I can relate to. But it just...I don't know. It feels like straight up false information to say V isn't implied to be bi when she very clearly still seems to hold some feelings for N even if she's perfectly okay with him and Uzi dating and is probably their number 1 supporter, while also very clearly not being against Lizzy's advances. Like for god's sake, they share earbuds at the end of ep 8 and lean on each other. I know friends can do that but like...please.

I might also be biased because I heavily relate to V in many many ways, but I'm trying to look at this purely from an evidence based viewpoint. I suppose I could also mention V's clear immense care for N and his safety as evidence but if it weren't for the blush in ep 5 you very easily could write that off as her just...caring about him a lot. I know men and women can be friends and just care about each other a lot, that doesn't mean they have feelings for each other or anything. It's just with the blush in particular it makes me think that caring is at least somewhat rooted in those feelings. But obviously feelings are more complicated than that and you can both care about someone deeply just because they're a friend you care about a lot AND feel romantic feelings towards them. I know I've experienced that before.

I do not care for what the show is doing with House Trakand (Elayne aside, who is perfect and I love her, and slight parenthetical digression about the choices they made with her this season??? I love they way they're demonstrating her diplomatic training by having her run interference between Rand and Avi when their cultures clash. I love how they're not afraid to let her be vulnerable when she contemplates her impending loneliness and let that speak about how her upbringing in Caemlyn must have been, and why she gloms on so strongly and abruptly to anyone who shows her positive regard as a person and not as her political persona. I love how those two things combine to lead to her hooking up with Avi - get it girl! I love that they're putting in the work to show her and Rand bonding over her political acumen- just... it really means a lot to me when the creatives do the work to show why two people LIKE one another before we can even get to why they LOVE each other. Just. gold stars all around. I love my bi disaster daughter and I have nothing but praise for how she's being handled. However). Parfait genteel knight Galad gallivanting with novices? Sensitive, disciplined Gawyn blowing kisses in the middle of a fight? And both of them INSUFFERABLY arrogant and thinking they have nothing to learn from WARDERS??? Morgase going all Game of Thrones in the third war for succession??? When she's meant to be possibly the most canny Daes Dae'mar player in the world, and the third war for succession being nearly bloodless thanks to her shrewd politicking and knack for building alliances (and that if there WERE assassinations to be done, she would 3000% arrange for everyone to KNOW it was her doing, but have zero way of actually tying it back to her)??? I mean. The term "character assassination" isn't putting too fine a point on it.

That said. I felt v. much the same way about Lord Agelmar and Lady Amalisa in the first season. But once I saw the changes they made to the story and the narrative importance of those changes, I was able to make my peace with them. Since they decided to move the Horn of Valere from the Eye of the World to under Agelmar's throne, you have to explain why a person who has spent his life literally fighting the Blight off his doorstep would have NOT been tempted to use it before, but also why he WOULD think to sound it NOW, even though the largest force of trollocs and myrddraal Fal Dara has ever seen still isn't nearly the Last Battle at which it's meant to be employed, but also why, with this hoard amassing at Tarwin's Gap he wouldn't have implored the White Tower for help. So Show!Agelmar has to be over-confident, arrogant, and antagonistic toward Aes Sedai. Similarly, Lady Amalisa had to be too proud and self-reliant so that we would see the consequences of drawing too much Power, rather than having to rely on being told it bad to do that again and again; this dramatic demonstration of stakes leading to Nyneave's arc about being frightened, with EXCELLENT reason, about the power she can wield, and first to her avoidance of learning to use it, and now her determination to learn to control it. So I'm going to trust the process. I'll always have Book Morgase and Gawyn and Galad, (and Agelmar and Amalisa) whenever I want to revisit them. And hopefully whatever the show has planned will bear out the changes that have been wrought upon them.

Also Star Trek is in The Future where people should be so very chill about identity and orientation—fuck Berman forever (I still need a link to that «in the 90ties everyone had to be straight» post please, can someone point me to it?) and every character should be assumed bi until proven otherwise. And Bashir has proven to love at least several women and one man! (again I’m not saying either Everyone Is Bi, period; lots of characters can still be attracted to only one gender and/or sex but a lack of shown attraction to the other is not the same as proof of absence—unless they explicitely state one strong preference)

Now the LWD Bashir married to Garak is a hologram. They could have forfeit programming any attraction in it and made him aro-ace but they didn’t. It’s only logical to assume they made him as bi/pan as his template. The hologram marrying One (1) Cardassian man does not make Bashir Just Gay And Not Attracted To Any Woman. It makes him attracted to at least one man and Prophets know how many other people or any and every and no gender before and/or on the side.

Regarding how the LWD alternates make Garashir canon I’m choosing the "soulmates" for lack of a better word, interpretation—it’s not that they were fated to be together but that in the Prime universe they could have been, they would have been, they shoud have been but circumstances conspired against them, and in another universe given the chance they totally do. But bemoaning that Woke made your fav character Not Het is not a good look. Queerphobia is never a good look. Doing so in an untrue fashion looks stupid and this one was stupidly biphobic. THIS GOT SUPER LONG WHOOPS

I can't stop thinking about this post (TL;DR it is about how Kim's life is almost as sad as Harry's due to how he has lived his entire life as horribly repressed, not allowing himself the freedom of his own silliness which is why he is such a good pairing for Harry, since they are both silly) and I started thinking about thoughts

specifically how this knowledge would fit into a swap AU

like a lot of other people here, I really like a swap AU and I think it allows for a fun way to flip each character on its head and examine a Harry who is more cleaned up vs a Kim who is more of a disaster, and how Harry would fit taking a more patient role to a Kim that lost his memory. But! A problem I have with a lot of swap AU's is that Kim just. . . would never be allowed to be a disaster like Harry is.

If Kim was like Harry, who was brilliant and highly capable and basically the perfect detective except for substance abuse problems, explosive personality, narcissistic traits (looking at you, Superstar), and overall impossible to control, he would get fired. He wouldn't be given 500 chances like Harry (presumably) has. So in his swap AU, Kim is still his highly controlled self and Harry is slightly less of a disaster. Enough so that he doesn't drink himself to amnesia at the start of the case, but he is still a mess dealing with all his stuff.

So how did Kim lose his memory? Probably a car accident. Had to get dragged out of his precious Kineema and its completely totaled, he was hold up at the Whirling-In-Rags as he healed and woke up with just. No memory.

And no reason to repress anything anymore.

Some scenes:

Harry arrived at the crime scene days late because he was avoiding work to get drunk, which is also why Jean Vic isn't with him either because he's sick of babysitting him so when he gets to the Whirling and hears that the other officer hasn't been picking up the slack and instead is horribly injured he's like. Fuck!

Kim doesn't remember shit. Not about him, not about the world, but after some time wandering behind Harry all dazed and confused he finally sees Harry's car and GASPS and rushes over. He examines this thing top to bottom and spouts off trivia facts a mile a minute at Harry, who is just standing there like 'I thought this guy had brain damage' but he listens. So patiently.

He eventually does have to stop him though. He says its for the case, but it's really when Kim starts looking at the interior and he doesn't want him to see the mess in there. Or how badly he's taking care of the car.

Harry isn't sure why he's suddenly so insecure about being seen as messy in front of his guy. Whatever.

During the field autopsy Harry, who is horribly hungover, still throws up. Kim still comforts him by rubbing his back, probably went ahead and pull his hair away from Harry's face, and then pats around his pockets for the handkerchief.

Kim gets an inkling of a feeling that he's missing something (his notebook, though he doesn't know that yet) but Harry doesn't notice what is going on in Kim's head yet, when he probably normally would, because his highly highly repressed bi-sexuality is rearing his head because there is this guy just casually touching him lovingly and he can't think.

(Kim probably also lost his gun and badge, it fell out of his jacket when he was being dragged from the car, but Harry told him that in their first conversation. He wouldn't know that Kim is also missing a notebook)

Kim is also putting in all his effort into the field autopsy. He's like, I'm a cop? Okay, let's solve this!

When Harry suggests that Kim get on his shoulders to get the hanged man down he's like, hmm you look strong enough to carry me alright let's try that, and Harry barely has time to register that this guy called him STRONG LOOKING before Kim is climbing on him and he has to try and appear COMPLETLY 100% STRAIGHT.

He succeeds, but mostly because Kim is too focused on getting the corpse down. If he looked at Harry's face it would be very obvious.

But the actual autopsy = Kim probably approaches it mostly fearless. And he's trying to be really observant to make up for his eyesight not being all that great, and he's probably talking out loud about everything since he can't write it down. But it would still be Harry who noticed the bullet. Kim probably compliments Harry on his ability to see it and, again, Harry loses it a little bit.

Kim's interactions with Cuno and Cunoesse helps him unpack a few sense memories of going undercover with juvenile delinquents and he thinks the best way to talk to them is to relate to them. Somehow. All he can remember his trivia facts about Pinball and the best strategies to get a high school, and in between his lecture on it he sometimes breaks into rants about how Pinball sucks actually, and he hates it, and it makes him feel bad for reasons he doesn't know.

Harry tries to make Kim seem less weird by throwing in facts about Contact Mike.

More than anything it just baffles Cuno and Cunoesse.

When Kim hears that "Welcome to Revachol" for the first time he doesn't remember that its racist, but he does know how it makes him feel, so he's instantly pissed off. Harry, who is overall a good guy but has absolutely said racist stuff while drunk and probably the day before, goes off as well and stands up to the racist so Kim doesn't do something WORSE and get in trouble. It's not that Harry is socially aware enough that has a white guy he can get away with more stuff, he wants Kim to like him.

You know how at the end of day briefing in the game has Harry calling Kim so cool, and it feels like that is the moment where Kim is really endured to Harry? In this AU, Kim will say something like hey. We should hang out once the case is over. And Harry, who has a whole thing about feeling like he's terrible and horribly unlikeable and just wants someone to see him as a mess worthy of their time rather than just a fucked up person, finally admits to himself that he cannot repress this anymore and he might have a crush on this super cool weirdo.

(that doesn't mean Harry feels any better about himself, really. He's now just convinced that he has to Fix Himself Completely overnight so that he can actually help this guy regain his memories.)

(OH ACTUALLY! No, Harry doesn't want to help Kim regain his memories. He's not going to actively try and stop it if it happens, but he will secretly hope that he never remembers the world in case they met while Harry was blackout drunk and Kim won't like him anymore.)

A scene where Kim fiddles with Harry's radio and it starts playing disco. He can't help but let out an audible "ew." before switching it to Speedfreaks. Harry is offended to his CORE and they have a playful but still loud/heated argument about music.

THE BOARD GAME SCENE! Harry still gets Suzerainty and when he starts popping out the cardboard pieces Kim just SNATCHES it out of his hands. No apology. And he's having such an obvious blast just poking out the pieces and then taking out every part of the board game so he can see all the components (classic autism moment) that Harry impulsively (classic ADHD moment) buys multiple more board games just to give Kim more fun little pieces to poke out. And Kim loves it, and Harry thinks "I'm winning at making friends. I'm going to win a prize at making friends and the prize will be a friend :)"

They do eventually find Kim's badge and gun and Harry is very happy at that, but Kim is still like. Hmm. Something is missing.

When he finds his notebook he's just. SO HAPPY! He thinks its like being reunited with a friend. Probably hugs it/clutches it tight to his chest. But when he opens it he's like "god damn my handwriting is awful."

Harry asks to read it, mostly joking around, fully ready to steal it when Kim isn't looking, except Kim just. Hands it over. And doesn't stop Harry from reading it. And of course Harry does.

Kim doesn't really KNOW about homophobia so he probably just. Says gay shit all the time. And Harry can't deal with it. The scene with the smoker on the balcony is still really funny but it's less of Harry having a bi-panic moment (he still has elements of it though) but when Kim starts flirting back in earnest Harry is just. Jealous out of his mind. Puts a stop to it ASAP he's like "OKAY WE WILL TALK TO YOU LATER. ACTUALLY ONLY I WILL TALK TO YOU LATER. KIM LET'S GO!"

When Jean comes into the picture and starts arguing with/berating Harry, he's about ready to turn it into an all out brawl right there in the cafeteria, but Kim is like "HEY! You ass! He's been very helpful this whole time! Just because he's a drunk and he smells bad doesn't mean shit!"

Harry has heart eyes.

The tribunal has the injuries reversed, Kim gets shot and Harry gets the concussion and needs to keep Kim alive. Harry, who has been trying to sober up during the case for Kim's sake, takes speed to allow him to stay up to monitor Kim's health and as soon as Kim wakes up he's like "great! fantastic!" and passes the fuck out.

The whole thing with the Phasmid is the first time where Harry nerds out over something and not Kim. And Kim listens. And Harry probably cries because like, it's something he's allowed to like that isn't related to WORK and someone actually cares about what he is like when he isn't DETECTING and it helps him feel like a person rather than the Superstar Cop.

(Right after his rant on cryptids, Kim goes on a tangent about his cool camera and tells Harry every little thing about it and they just. Nerd out together).

Okay, top CC/CT ships because I'm bored.

1) Yasammy: I think this one was obvious lmao. They're amazing, wholesome, cute. The Long Run was the best episode in Camp Cretacious. Their evolution from best friends to girlfriends was greatly developed, and they're the best couple in the show to me. Their conflict in Chaos Theory made sense and was greatly handled, and they became stronger because of it. Both Yasmina and Sammy are great characters both individually and as a couple. Yaz is straight up a bi disaster because Sammy from the very first season of CC and it's adorable. They are also hilarious as well, stop trying to have a dramatic battlefield kiss, Big Eatie is pissed and she is literally running towards you both right now.

2) Dinostar: At first I didn't truly ship it, but I thought they made sense together. Chaos Theory and a recent rewatch of Camp Cretacious made me go from not minding the idea of them together to root for them. I enjoy angst, and it's gonna be angsty when Brooklynn returns. Also their dynamic is just great and honestly after a rewatch I can say they're just adorable. That scene when Brooklynn tells Darius he is a light that burns bright and that she'd follow him everywhere is peak romance to me idk. Also Dinostar is a very cool shipname, and as someone from the RWBY fandom which to me has some of the coolest shipnames-- I approve.

3) Benji: Cute fr, I shipped it a lot in the early seasons, and a little bit again in Chaos Theory after a few scraps.

4) Benrius: They're pretty cute tbh I get why people ship it.

my anti propaganda for alear x ivy: the game does it no service by making the support line one sided the way it does. alear is super passive throughout the entire thing until S, and never has a moment that humanizes them/shows their vulnerabilities like in their other supports. that would have been especially important for someone like ivy, who, as a coping mechanism, had come to worship and idealize alear as a god... and the fact that she keeps referring to them as her god/deity even after S is a bit creepy, sorry

plus, the fandom around it tends to exhibit pretty rancid behavior, especially when it comes to wanting to ship ivy with anyone OUTSIDE of alear (her other wlw options? pretty much ignored. and don't you dare claim she isn't lesbian. bi ivy who? oh, and if alear is male, he's oddly treated like the devil. but then he's ALSO made into some ooc chad, too)

interpretations also tend to erase ivy's entire personality in favor of making her a "disaster alear simp", and it's such a disservice to the nuanced, layered character that she is

she has a lot of cool relationships that get ignored in fandom bc the obsession with pushing her with alear sucks up everything else in the room <3
