i don’t remember if i ever shared this here, but a while ago i posted a little twitter thread about bats and gas station snacks and some very talented podficcers made a podfic of it! 🎧
[podfic] Jersey Vigilantes Don't Pump Gas by isweedan & reena_jenkins
original thread (text under the cut):
nested tweet reading: ever since i learned gotham is supposed to be in new jersey i can’t get this concept out of my head: [a badly drawn bumper sticker that says “jersey vigilantes don’t pump gas”] / quote tweet reading: the batmobile can’t just slip in and out of a gas station unnoticed. an employee HAS to go fill up the tank. meanwhile the tired night shift cashier knows the various robin eras because they come in to buy different snacks as time goes on.
one night while the manager is out filling *the literal batmobile* the cashier blinks and comes face to face with a child in a leotard and green boots, buying a pack of twizzlers. “thanks!” the first robin calls, somehow vaulting over two rows of shelves on his way out the door.
years later, after a stretch of quiet weeks, a new, curly-haired robin comes in and grabs a bag of flamin hot pepper puffs. the cashier doesn’t even think robin 2 actually likes them, but he looks really satisfied with himself every time he drops them on the counter.
(even after the second robin abruptly stops coming in, the cashier keeps slipping flamin hot pepper puffs onto their order list. no one else ever buys them, but it just—feels like the thing to do, somehow.)
a stretch of months without a robin, oddly tense. then the third robin appears, even smaller than the first two. he slips inside and buys a cup of black coffee and drains it in one go right at the coffee station, nervously eyeing the door like he’s afraid he’ll be caught.
the fourth robin, when she shows up, makes a beeline for the protein bars. finally, the cashier thinks, someone remotely sensible for this line of work. (though maybe not sensible enough—or maybe TOO sensible—because small caffeine robin is back a few months later.)
the fifth robin, when he first appears, approaches the counter. “you will direct me to the best snacks new jersey has to offer,” he tells the cashier.
“uh,” the cashier says. “i like sour patch kids, myself.”
robin 5 nods. “i will take a bag of sour patch children.”
(one night, not much later, red hood strolls through the door. the cashier has lived in gotham for over a decade now; they barely blink, even when nightwing bounds in after him.
“oh, shit, flamin hot pepper puffs,” red hood says. “i haven’t had these in ages.”
“aw, come on,” nightwing says, already holding a pack of twizzlers. “no one else can stand those.”
“why do you think i got them in the first place, dickhead?” red hood says. “to fend off new jersey’s number one snack thief.” and he buys buys every bag in stock.)
#feat. my own terrible art drawn in the notes app of a decade-old ipad#the joke being that you can’t pump your own gas in new jersey#which i’m sure has been joked about plenty before#anyway the podfic is a delight and every once in a while i remember about it and re-listen for a giggle#batfam#my fic#OBVIOUSLY BRUCE HAS HIS OWN GAS PUMP IN THE CAVE#or the batmobile runs on solar (because it’s sustainable and discreet NOT because superman thinks that’s cool)#but: imagine.

Apps You're Probably Going to Need
Too Good to Go: app that connects you to grocery stores and restaurants that will sell you surplus food at cheaper prices.
Signal: Messaging app that erases messages after an amount of time, and allows images to be viewable once.
Taimi: an ĻGBṬ dating app that doesn't allow screenshots of messages and profiles to be taken.
Bandcamp: a great website for music artists, podcasters, and audiobook creators. They pay artists more of the profits than Spotify, and have Fridays dedicated to giving artists all of the profits from sales.
Proton: app that offers privacy and encryption for emails, VPNs, and a lot more.
Community Garden: an app that helps make community garden development easier.
Vero: an Instagram alternative that doesn't use algorithms, data mining, or advertisements. An alternative to go to when Instagram worsens in the upcoming years.
Hygiene Locator: a database for low-income people to find distribution sites giving away hygiene products.
Triller: a TikTok alternative to go to if TT outright bans certain topics.
Little Free Library: an app that locates little free libraries for you.
Evidation: it's a "health app" in which you collect points for activities like walking, but you can just complete their weekly and daily surveys. Basically, it's a beer-monęy app because you can only get $10 for 10,000 points, but if you have time to kill and need to earn extra cash in the upcoming eçonomic crash, evidation is an option.
Farmish: an app to help you locate your local farmer's market.
Boycat: an app that helps customers determine which brand is participating in unethical human rights violations and which isn't . It has recently partnered with the BDS movement!
Bluesky: You've already heard of it, right? It's an alternative to Twịtter, except it gives you the option to mass block MÅGÅ, genocide supporters, and the like. (My profile is itisiives, if you want to hang.)
Food Co-op Finder: As the name says, you can use this app to find your nearby food/grocery co-ops. Since co-ops mostly sell locally grown and made foods, this would be helpful in the looming deregulation of food safety.

This might be horribly worded but…
Whenever a new fandom arises, I always wonder to myself why they immediately become so hateful of basic fandom culture. From harmless ships, to silly headcanons, to dumb out-of-character shit posts that aren’t meant to be taken seriously and more.
It just seems like fandom spaces over the years have gotten more hostile and less tolerant of kids (and even adults) having fun with their interests. What is the point of being so vehemently against what fandom is all about? What is the point of hating such culture when you’re apart of it? Why are you so shocked about it being a thing? We’ve been doing this for years. If you don’t like it, don’t interact with it.
And perhaps just consider the fandom space isn’t for you and you don’t need to consume new media to extremities instead? I don’t know. Just a light hearted suggestion from a guy who’s been engaging in this stuff for a decade 🤷
#꒰ v’s rambling ꒱#I could be speaking out of my ass with this one#But fandoms no longer feel sustainable to me or fun anymore#Fandoms have always been toxic cesspools but I fear it’s gotten worse after the pandemic#Nowadays it just feels like peole jump on fads and leave as soon as they find the next big thing#It doesn’t feel genuine. But again that might just be me#It doesn’t help that current social medias push negative crap onto you to keep you focused on their app#Just makes things feel worse than they really are sometimes#But oh well I’m just doing my usual nonsensical rambling after a siesta#so I’ll stop 🫣

I honestly don't think there is greater shonen anime in existence than My Hero Academia seasons 1 & 2. The breakneck speed of the pacing, the MUSIC, the animation, the pure unbridled excitement, the realistic development of everyone's powers especially Izuku's, the emotionality. Shonen is not even my genre typically, but when I think of an anime that captures everything that I think the genre is supposed be I can't think of anything that does it better.
#personal#my hero academia#bnha#sadly the quality dipped drastically as the seasons went on & there is so much filler now#but I'll stick with it until the end#bc i'll never forget how the first couple of seasons made me feel like i could do anything!#it inspired me to go back to school and finish my degree while working a full time job#it was the hardest thing I've ever done & i remember watching an episode before bed each night and feeling like#if izuku could believe in himself to the point of delusion despite everything and everyone telling him he couldn't achieve his dreams#then i could sustain a brutal schedule for 18 months#i am trying once again to inspire that kind of energy for something I have in the works so i think i will restart it :)#i had quotes from the show written in my notes app and i'd read them several times a day#whenever i felt doubtful scared overwhelmed or anxious#and i not only graduated but with straight As too & that shit was hard!!! all of my classes were math/statistics/data analysis of some kind

it’s that time of year where i want to remake my blog so so so bad it’s unreal and then i don’t. lol
#i have way too many followers to be doing the shit i do on here and im kinda getting tired of it. i wish the crab post hadn’t blown up#purrs#i just don’t want to lose the years of posts or like my sideblogs being attached to this blog or anything. and i would want to still be#pepprs but i wouldn’t want ppl to find me easily. idk. ughhh. head in hands#delete later#i wish there was a function to like remove followers en masse. that would fix me#all of u who like regularly like my personal posts would stay of.c it’s just like the literal resacteds of ppl who idont even know and i#feel claustrophobic on here sometimes and all i do is just close the app when i feel like that. but idk#it’s not sustainable. and i miss the freedom that comes w like having fewer ppl perceiving you iykwim. maybe i’ll remake for 2023 idk#i think tumblr has started recommending me to new users too like it’s that bad. and idont ahve any ill will towards ppl who follow me or#anything like i appreciate it. i just want privacy and i get so many asks and stuff all the time ajdni don’t want to sound ungrateful bc i#rly do appreciate it but also i have abt 2% social battery most days and i feel guilty and stressed bc the amount of ppl who want to talk to#me just keeps growing and growing and most of the time i want to hide and just reblog posts and not think abt it. that sounds so mean and is#very very evidential of my lockdown induced mental illness and again i do not want to sound ungrateful bc i really am. im just tired and#overwhelmed and overstimulated every day and i need… whatever you call this. even though i already isolate myself too much irl anyway

Navigating the Landscape: Best Apps for Electric Vehicle Owners
In the age of smartphones and constant connectivity, electric vehicle (EV) owners have a distinct advantage. There are numerous apps designed to make the EV experience smoother, more efficient, and integrated into the digital lives of users. From finding charging stations to managing vehicle charging schedules, mobile apps are essential tools for today's EV drivers.
The foremost concern for many EV owners is locating charging stations, especially during long trips. Apps like PlugShare and ChargePoint have become indispensable. PlugShare boasts a user-friendly interface and a comprehensive database of charging stations, allowing users to filter by connector type, network, and charging speed.
ChargePoint, which also operates its own network of chargers, gives users real-time information on charger availability and lets them initiate and pay for charging sessions right from their phones.
Battery management is another vital aspect of EV ownership. Apps such as MyGreenCar and EV Range Calculator help drivers to monitor their vehicle’s battery status and predict the range based on current charge, driving habits, and even weather conditions. These apps take the guesswork out of planning trips, ensuring that drivers can reach their destinations without running out of juice.
For Tesla owners, the Tesla app provides a sleek, integrated experience with features such as remote climate control, location tracking, and the ability to check charging progress. It even allows for keyless driving.
For non-Tesla EVs, many manufacturers offer their own apps with similar features, like the NissanConnect for Leaf owners or the OnStar app for the Chevrolet Bolt. Smart charging is an area where apps like JuiceNet and ChargeHub come into play. These platforms offer the ability to schedule charging sessions during off-peak hours when electricity rates are lower. This not only saves money but also helps to reduce the strain on the electrical grid, contributing to a more sustainable energy consumption pattern. Community interaction and shared experiences are also a key part of the EV lifestyle.
Apps like A Better Routeplanner (ABRP) not only help in planning efficient routes but also allow users to share tips and tricks with the community. For the eco-conscious driver, apps such as Carbon Counter can track the environmental impact of driving an EV as opposed to a gasoline vehicle, offering tangible metrics on CO2 emissions saved.
To address the financial aspect of EV ownership, apps such as EVgo and EVPerks partner with charging networks to offer discounts and loyalty rewards. This can significantly lower the cost of ownership by providing deals on charging, as well as other EV-related products and services.
Lastly, the integration of EVs with smart home ecosystems is growing in sophistication. Apps like Home Connect and SmartCharge allow EVs to communicate with smart home devices, enabling owners to manage their vehicle’s charging alongside their home energy usage.
This level of integration is pushing the boundaries of what it means to be an EV owner in a digitally connected world. Whether it’s about practicality, savings, community, or environmental stewardship, there’s an app to enhance every aspect of the electric vehicle experience.
As the EV market evolves, we can only expect this digital ecosystem to grow richer and more integrated, smoothing the journey for EV owners even further.
