So many of the games are on Steam you can literally just play them, I don't care how potato your computer is any single one of them besides probably the newest one will run on it. Adventure 1 is only $8 and Adventure 2 is only $10 and that second one is literally the game the third movie took all it's material from. You can play them. Right now.

And frankly it is honestly an EXCELLENT "first Sonic game" for somebody who wants to get into the franchise after watching the movies. It is a visual novel that is entirely narrative and character driven, so it gives you the lore you're interested in after being enticed by the movies. It is very light on gameplay but what gameplay there is still functions as a stepping stone to help you understand the way the other games in the series work. The characterization is EXCELLENT particularly with Sonic himself, it will provide you with proper introduction to who all of the characters from the video games truly are. And the protagonist of the game is a normie who doesn't know any of the Sonic characters personally, so the plot does a very good job of presenting the casts eccentricities in a way where the protagonists reactions will probably mirror your own as the player.

ALSO IT IS FREE SO YOU HAVE LITERALLY NO EXCUSE

then if that game hooks you you can pick one of the other ones to play. Buy Sonic Origins and play the original Genesis games. Or buy Sonic Adventure 1 or 2. Or fuck it buy Sonic Frontiers since it's the newest one currently available on steam. Or if you really liked Shadow in that new movie, buy Sonic X Shadow Generations and get more Shadow. Get Lost World, because it is funny bright colorful and fun to play and anybody who tells you anything different is a dirty stinking liar.

I swear to God, if Movie Amy ends up as just a tough, take-charge, boring"Girlboss", I'm gonna actually choke to death.

As someone who engages with girl-targeted media with regularity, I can say with certainty that people can write female leads as compelling and interesting while still allowing them to display and even indulge in traditionally feminine traits, and not just lean on "badass".

Let Amy get excited at a pretty dress, THEN she beats Knuckles in an arm wrestling match.

Let Amy see a flower field and want to frolic in it, THEN she can crush a robot 8 times her size.

Let Amy talk about her dreams of finding her one true love, THEN she can punt Metal Sonic into a mountain.

If they HAVE to have a generic badass girl character, use Rouge or Blaze. Not that I want them reduced to such, but that personality would suit them WAY better than it would Amy.

I feel the same way about the games and the rest of the franchise. Somebody on the Sonic writing team keeps trying to push "badass tough girl" Amy and I'm so tired of it.

Evan Stanley please write for Amy in the movie please. You actually do her right.
