It sucks when the worst version of your favorite comic book character is the most popular one

Kat Graham spoke on the Driven Minds podcast as a guest. She detailed mental health, health, having boundaries and even given some thoughts on how that has changed her life or blended with her career. She’s very aware that she and Bonnie had plenty of disadvantages than her co-stars and other characters because of her race. Whether that be love interests, clothing, hair or Bonnie having agency. To quote her directly: “had I been a caucasian female I do think the writing would’ve been different”
It’s just as important to hear this from her perspective first and foremost as much as the fans rallied behind her then and now.

Looks like we know why Librarians was pulled now (and its not the smart thing you suggested about holding it so they had basically one anchor show in the spring):
https://tvline.com/news/tnt-drama-series-librarians-the-next-chapter-1235322458/
TNT Grabs Librarians Reboot From The CW as Part of Plan to Replenish Drama Slate
So basically they had one show that people were looking forward to that had an at least somewhat established fanbase (I never watched the og so I don't know how big the fandom is, but I know they're there), and they.... sold it.
I get needing an influx of cashflow but its sooo short sighted! If you continue to sell off, cancel, or just never air the shows that people are interested in just to get cash then yea, you have cash now, but when no one watches your network in the upcoming years because you have ruined it and cancelled or sold off all the shows people want? Then you're going to be in even more trouble because a network with no one watching is making less money than the CW was already struggling to make. They aren't "making the cw profitable" they are trying to get fast cash as they make the network completely unrecognizable to its loyal fans thereby destroying all good will they had.
Yes, to everything you said! I always side-eyed the "make the CW profitable by 2025" because it forces whoever's in charge to make the kinds of decisions that generate immediate cash for investors, but don't allow for an extended growth plan. Nexstar may be able to pay off investors in the short-term, but their long-term prospects are dwindling with every short-term decision they make.
(But yea, for TNT bringing the Librarians back home! I might even watch it now knowing that the CW won't get my views for ad revenue.)

Honestly still annoyed YEARS later that the CW fucked up a perfect opportunity to have a good Green Arrow show complete with proper versions of Oliver Queen, Dinah Lance, Roy Harper, Mia Dearden and Connor Hawke but instead just decided to write a Green Batman show complete with knockoffs of Bruce Wayne, Oracle, Artemis and Red Hood as well as a weird whitewashed Connor Hawke whose fate we have no clue of three years later.

I am watching Alex Meyer´s video of Riverdale and i knew this show was non sense, a trash but...what the fuck?
Like i am sorry if i am out of line and people actually liked how they handled it and you can tell me to go fuck myself if thats the case, but grabbing a real life case of murder and putting all of your actors of color in a room for this plot line ...on a series that is not about it, is about whaetver the hell riverdale is now but it seem tone clashing and just, not right honestly; a little sickening that they are using that to grab people´s attention.
Again, maybe i am messing with something that i shouldn't but, it feels like the writers are pulling a "we are not racist, look, we are making an episode about this very horrible significant event and we are discussing how wrong it was" in a series that never has taken anything seriously ever. Maybe i am overreacting but it seems like a new low ever for them
Someone who actually watched the episode if can tell me that i am wrong, that they did it okay, that it made sense for...reasons. i can hear, but whoa

Something is different this time with JK Rowling’s ugly comments regarding Imane Khelif and Lin Yu Ting. Both of whom are cis women and have identified as women since their birth.
It’s the first time I’m seeing more of the general public reacting with “You don’t know what you’re talking about. Stop being so weird and obsessive.”
Reaction to this has been particularly strong in Taiwan.
‘Gender Critics’ aren’t even being gender critical now. They are being gender enforcers for women they perceive to be outside the norm.
And it’s good to see people recognising this creepiness for what it actually is. Frothing at the mouth at every little thing will turn the public away from you.

It's not normal to send people death threats over fiction 👍
If you're so bothered by a piece of fiction maybe you should go to a therapist and talk about why it bothers you
Not send death threats
Authors and artists are real people, not machines for you to abuse

“You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin. And then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities,” - John Ehrlichman, (Richard Nixon domestic policy chief, 1968)
it wasn't about drugs.

We need to talk more about the transmasculine suicide rate.
There's a common saying that every transgender suicide is a murder, because it is the lack of acceptance in society that leads transgender individuals to commit suicide at such a high rate, this is true of trans men who have the highest suicide rate across all gender identities:
Tumblr media
[image ID: a stylized graph depicting the percentages of considering & attempted suicide for different gender experiences.
Cisgender boy/man: 28% considered suicide, 8% attempted suicide
Cisgender girl/woman: 37% considered suicide, 10% attempted suicide
Transgender boy/man: 59% considered suicide, 22% attempted suicide
Transgender girl/woman: 48% considered suicide, 12% attempted suicide
Nonbinary/genderqueer: 53% considered suicide, 19% attempted suicide
Questioning: 48% considered suicide, 14% attempted suicide
end ID] ID by @tstomboy
Trans men are not receiving the support they need, and many of them are not surviving because of this. We need to make sure that mental health support and suicide for transgender individuals is as inclusive as possible for these transgender men who are at the highest risk.
We need to ensure trans men feel safe and welcome within the queer community as isolation is one of the more exacerbating factors on one's mental health. We need to make sure resources for victims of sexual violence are inclusive of transmasculine individuals, who face the highest rate of sexual abuse and yet often have to recloset themselves to find support. We have to love trans men because society shows them nothing but hate.
Check in with the trans men in your community, you may just save a life.

One day, I'll talk in depth about how it felt to be the only trans drag king in my local scene surrounded by radfem cis kings who only wanted to make fun of masculinity and how it led to me giving up because I faced more transphobia and misgendering in the few nights I performed, by cis queers, than ever in my life.
It was AWFUL. I just never wanted to perform anymore because the TOXICITY of it all was disgusting.
And I love drag with all my heart, but when you get she/her'd IN DRAG KING, spend your time being belittled because you're a drag king (because let's face it drag kings don't get the credit they deserve) by other performers or because you're transmasc by cis drag kings and you can't find any place in the scene if you do anything else than mocking masculinity, fuck it. I hope I can perform in the future but it won't be in this scene.

cant believe jkr created a prison that forces you to relive all of your worst memories, put a fairly major character in that prison for twelve years without a trial, and then just... didnt make it a commentary on the justice system OR the prison system. just like "lol thats a quirky thing that happened just for plot reasons, no bearing on reality tho"
