Non-Hazbin Hotel characters that are better than Lucifer Morningstar

I hate Lucifer Morningstar. Why do fans find him attractive? He looks like a skinny twig like every male character Vivienne Medrano draws. Except for Adam! I think.

I added Wreck-Gar, Cheese Sandwich, Banana Man, Probabilitor the Annoying, and Blumfump because they're voiced by Weird Al.

Speaking of Weird Al, Vivienne Medrano wanted him to voice Lucifer since she's a big fan of him, but he didn't because he's a Christian (which I didn't know that until this July).

Disclaimer! I like the Lucifer we have now too but in my opinion he is overrated especially in comparison to Charlie who people seem have to forget is the actually main character of the show

I am also would like him more if the fandom would recognize his flaws and stop acting like he was a good father. And I know that he didn't had it easy himself with Lilith leaving and his depressions but he still neglected Charlie. She literally said that in the 7 years he only called her when he wanted something from her

So let's stop acting like he was the perfect father and start recognizing that he is flawed father who is trying to become a better one.

I am truly struggling with the Lucifer series. I am literally getting by with watching a single episode a night but it's become such a chore. I just have so many problems with it so this is going to be a complete ranty negative post. Open at your own risk.

Lucifer is becoming less off a fun asshole and more of just an asshole asshole. It feels like he has no deep developement, like he's the same selfish dick he was in the first season except he shouldn't be because he's had no ends of lessons that should have helped him grow. But nope, he cares for Chloe but will still ignore and insult Maze or belittle Dan and put his own problems above Amenadiel and Linda and pretty much everyone else and so on and so on.

The romance between him and Chloe is so damn boring. I hate the will-they-won't-they at the best of times and this show seems to be doubling down on the trope twice as hard in all the worst ways. Every time Chloe and Lucifer have a new problem, I swear I want to ram my head against a wall. It's literally become a case of even when they're together and happy, I'm so sick of them.

Maze has the same twist every damn season. Like, seriously. How many more times is she going to betray Lucifer and side with that seasons antagonist? Her reasons may vary slightly but at the end, it's like clockwork and while I still love her and have great sympathy for her character, it's also still stupidly repetative.

The Dan hate is getting old too. I've never liked the trope of one character constantly getting kicked down on and despite Lucifer's nickname, Dan really isn't that bad a person. And if he is, it's only because of sympathetic circumstances pushing him to be. It was one thing when it was just Lucifer making fun of him but ever since Season 3 with Pierce, it feels like Chloe and everyone else is always smirking behind his back as well and it's just makes me dislike all of them.

On another Dan note, his treatment to finding out the truth is gross compared to the others. When Linda and Chloe found out, Lucifer was careful with them. He gave them space but was otherwise gentle because he understood how intense this information could be for a human. For Dan, he decides to try and make it worse by pranking him with a snake? Even Chloe, to me, is digustingly cold about it. She knows how scary it can be but she doesn't even try to reach out to him during this time. She's more concerned with Lucifer messing up her case than calling him out for pushing Dan during a sensative time? I dunno, it seems a bit sexist to me that the women got coddled and allowed to be emotional about it but the guy gets made fun of.

The only thing I'm looking forward to at this point is Eve returning and marrying Maze (I saw spoilers). But even that isn't going to be done all that well because with only one season to do it, we're not going to get any real development and build between them.

woah thanks a lot for answering my ask about Lucifer! I've been so used to hearing nothing but praise about Lucifer in the main fandom that it feels like I was the only one who kind of hated him a little and I'm a bit scared of their reaction to my opinion. You are so right about how the fandom mostly praised him and doesn't seem to acknowledge his flaws. And if somebody points out his flaws his stans find ways to blame it it on other characters

Like it is Liliths fault that he gave the apple to Eve because she manipulated him to do it, it is Charlie's fault for not wanting to call her father who only called her if he needs something from her because it is her responsibility to be the bigger person and force him out of his self isolation

I don't hate him, I like him but I hate how the fandom babies him. I understand that he has depression and it is hard for him especially after Lilith left but that doesn't erase the fact how his actions affect his surroundings. We saw in Helluva boss that Satan used his absence to rule take control of the court

He is by far not a perfect person, we saw that he doesn't care about sinners despite his (ex) wife being one and he being technically the reason they exist in the first place, he seems to care at least about hellborns as they are not targeted and seem to be excluded from the extermination.

His dislike of sinners goes that far that as he sees Alastor defending the hotel from the loan sharks that instead of trying to comfort his daughter as her hotel gets destroyed he used the opportunity to mock her dream of redeeming sinners because it proves that they are "violent psychopath".

Like Lucifer, what should Alastor have done in your opinion to make them stop attacking the hotel? Ask them polity to leave? Give Mimzy to them? I know that violence is not always the answer but they attacked the hotel with weapons, They could have hurt your daughter!But no that is the perfect moment to tell her that sinners are bad while loan sharks who probably are hellborns attack your daughters hotel which a sinner is protecting!

I wish that people would just accept that Lucifer isn't a perfect person, he fucked up multiple times and that is OK. The shows themes are about fixing your mistakes and become a better person yet so many act like he didn't made mistakes and put him on a pedestal for trying to be a good father despite him being far from being one

It seems to me that some people REALLY want the deadly sins in the Hellaverse to be overly negative stereotypes of whatever sins they represent.

First they complained about Ozzie having standards and boundaries for consent because he's the embodiment of lust. Even though lust shouldn't have to be forced and consent is the bare minimum, as Ozzie said himself. You can be horny without being a fucking rapist.

Then they hated how Lucifer is a misunderstood goofy good guy not only because he embodies pride, but because he's Lucifer himself. Nevermind the fact that the Hellaverse's versions of Lucifer and Satan are two completely seperate characters, and that's been established way before Satan was even introduced in Mastermind.

Now they're bitching about Bee being disgusted with Mammon's table manners. (Yes, THAT'S the part she was disgusted by, not the fact that he was eating at all.) Even in her debut episode they were asking why she isn't obese. (It's because her torso is basically a lava lamp which gives her a high metabolism.) And gluttony itself isn't just about eating. It also involves over-indulgence, and Bee being a hard partying alcoholic who encourages people to get drunk (although not completely wasted either since she was concered about Blitzø) and eat junk food, which is exactly what her introduction song Cotton Candy is all about.

With the exception of Mammon and Satan, all the deadly sins we've seen so far are supposed to represent the POSITIVE side of their sins. For as much as Viv antis accuse her of stereotyping people, they sure do love indulging in stereotypes themselves.

I found a fanart of Alastor being kidnapped by Striker, like Stolas in the episode "Western Energy" and I thought it would be a very good idea to develop.

Alastor is seriously injured by Adam's angelic powers and based on what he himself said in his musical breakdown at the end of the season, his powers seem to be restricted by his contract. The power scaling for Overlords is seemingly connected to how many souls they own and he hasn't taken an souls since his return, so it would be fair to assume that he is getting weaker. He's not the same Radio Demon from seven years ago. He would be an easy target, especially for a hitman who holds a deep hatred of powerful hellish entities such as Overlords and nobility of Hell.

Now, who would want to hire Striker for that? The Vees maybe? They are the only ones who could easily guess about Alastor's true state bc they saw the fight like it was a sports game. And it wouldn't be the first time they sent someone else to do the dirty work either, Sir Pentious is a good example of that.

If we combine this with Radioapple it would be even funnier bc Lucifer would fly out of the hotel in his seraph form to save his queerplatonic partner saying something like "nobody fucks that deer but me"

Sooooooo Hazbin Hotel....what do I think?

It's peak fiction, sure the pacing is a bit off and the finale was a bit rushed imo (blame Amazon and A24 for that). But despite some flaws, I do think that this show is good; as in like:

"YO, WHO TF WAS COOKING AND GIVE THEM AN AWARD"

And since Season 2 is in the works rn, that'll allow them to flesh out some moments from Season 1 as like 'BackFlashes', see more of Sir Repentious and Emily, Alastor's and Lilith's interactions, and possibly Sinner!Adam. I SOOOOOO EXCITED AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

I Fucking Hate Lucifer

In Season 1 I didn't really mind him all that much.

But now with the Season 2 leaks, let the leak of him being killed be true.

All he is is this #quirky-autistic-guy who's also "UwU sad boy sympathize with me!"

And if he's also going to be part of the main cast and since he's also the King of Hell, then he can literally solve any problem in five minutes! He'll be nothing more than a plot device for the characters to use to get them out of sticky situations. It happened in the finale of Season 1, it could very well happen again!

Also, why is he sticking around? Doesn't he have things to do as a ruler? And he's also driving away Charlie's employees.

And yes I know it's Alastor but still!

The Biggest Problem With Hazbin Hotel's Rehabilitation Mentality Is Trying To Make All Sinners Victims Instead Of Owning Up To Their Own Sins

I think the biggest problem with Hazbin Hotel rehabilitation mentality is that they focus in on how sinners are victim of circumstances rather than owning up to their problems and changing themselves. I think the biggest thing with this series is the fact that they think the problem is society instead of someone's own issues how they got into hell.

One of the first indications of this bs is making it out that Lucifer and Lilith were just misunderstood dreamers were against a strict ignoring that they caused sin in the world and caused help humanity's downfall. But the narrative ignores that fact and tries to treat them as victims of heaven, so we can have Lucifer as a misunderstood sad boy instead of how in the Bible he was jealous of humanity and wanted to bring it down with him due to God's love for them. A misunderstood sad boy wouldn't do this type of shit and Vivziepop selling it a load of it.

I know this is going to be controversial but I think Angel Dust is hindered as a character but not focusing on what got him into hell. And it wasn't just the drugs and sex, because he did kill people and some of them probably didn't end up in hell. So just imagine him being sent to heaven and his former victims recognized him for his crimes and until now showed repentance. However, the narrative even then doesn't focus on that fact but the idea he's a total victim and doesn't show part of his way to redemption is get his life back together and admit he's done shit where he wasn't the victim but the victimizer. One could say he was put through that life, but then again show his sister is in heaven and that she chose a life of virtue and made it. So, he has no excuse of his dad or brother getting himself into hell except himself and he needs to work on it. Even if he's a victim to Valentino, he still is a victimizer in someone else's eyes who recognizes him decades ago.

And I am also going to say this the Extermination is used as a way to have all of hell be turned into pitied victims that you forget a lot of them are in hell for a reason. And even more they are doing antics that got them probably into hell like murder, sex, and other types of depravity. While not all sinners are on the same level, the exterminations as a whole just i used to make you forget that they are there for a reason and erase that there is a reason they weren't given a chance into heaven. Seriously, Emily herself called them innocent souls when in any other scene they are far from innocent and the reason why Adam is depicted as a one note villain is because they can't fathom the idea that maybe the Extermination could be used to cull the worst sinners or something.

I think the biggest problem with Hazbin Hotel's every sinner is really a victim it comes ironically counter to finding redemption. A show which Vivziepop says she inspires from but she completely misses the point is Bojack. She says she's watched it but the biggest point of the show just because you are the victim doesn't give you an excuse to act like a total jackass to others and not own up to your mistakes. The problem is Habzin Hotel never lets anyone own up because they have to play victims, especially any character favored by Vivziepop. Redemption doesn't come from seeing yourself as a victim, but recognizing your own mistakes and how to reform from them. And frankly I didn't see Angel Dust want to reform from his mistakes, but just want a home away from Val. The problem is that Hazbin Hotel is about enforcing victimhood instead of owning up that you did bad things and need to change. An excuse for your behavior is still not fully an excuse and you need to own up to your actions.
