animal man reading guide.

i recently finished reading just about every appearance for buddy baker aka animal man, so i figured i would try my hand at making a guide! if there are any mistakes, feel free to correct me <3.

Animal Man #12-26 is the rest of the morrison run. this is THE essential run. if you read anything, read morrison's run

Animal Man #27-32 is the milligan run. it continues the horror elements of morrison's run with a theme of "loss of control"

Animal Man #33-50 is the veitch and dillon run, and it expands on the theme of loss of control by having buddy lose control of his life, arguably his family, and his powers for the ten thousandth time

Animal Man #51-79 is the delano run, and it's my second favorite run of the series. this run is all about buddy taking control back over his life in the form of literally becoming a god

Animal Man #80-89 is the prosser and harper run, which i heavily disliked because it went a completely opposite direction. it also marks the end of the series and the last we see of buddy for a bit

Gotham: Holy shit there's a random animal running around Gotham city and no one's ever caught it before. They say it only appears in thunderstorms and anyone unfortunate enough to cross paths with it look as if they've been hit by thunder.

Dan phantom, the 'random animal' who is in fact a Raiju in question: If I destroy this place I'll be fucked over by Clockwork. But if I don't destroy this place I'll keep being followed by this brat.

Damian Wayne, the brat in question: There is an animal roaming Gotham in thunderstorms, father. We must save it!

I have an absolutely desperate need for Danny to visit Wally at his house and meet his neighbor: Buddy Baker aka Animal Man and for the two to become friends and to compare stories of going to different dimensions. One may be True Body Horror You're Made Of Meat/The Red dimension and the other is Everything Is Green and Purple Everything Is Dead And Direction And Time Has no Meaning/Infinite Realms dimension but somehow they can relate to the other's experience. Danny now comes over regularly for barbecues and to babysit Buddy's kids.

Animal man head cannons

I got into animal man, he’s really a great character fr. I woof, if you can check out Morrison’s run do it’s awesome.

Whenever he goes to another superheroes house for dinner he quizzes them on where they got their meat from and if the animals were treated well before they were killed. Because he cares that they don’t suffer before dying, he may be a vegetarian but he still cares that the animals deaths were swift and they didn’t suffer. Because he can feel it all and it gives Him immense psychic damage.

batman had no plan for if buddy goes off the rails, because he’s too busy with everyone else’s.

buddy can slightly morph his body to a desired animal, it freaks out all of his colleagues because he can morph into any alien including Martian manhunter and superman.

buddy is actually a really famous actor, but he doesn’t think he deserves it at all. He only stars in things he likes, and they all end up being successful as fuck. Because buddy likes acting in his spare time, because he doesn’t have to actually fight people.

buddy actually remembers everything from all his comic book runs, he has pstd flashbacks routinely. He struggles with knowing that his life is at the wim of his writers but he deals with it.
