but attending a gala in gotham is like an extreme sport; the slight chance of dying makes it fun. so there's a 50% chance a theme-relevant supervillian will crash it. im betting on the penguin or the court of owls. (for some reason the chances increase to 90% when bruce wayne is in attendance. weird)

wait wait wait i need more details. why am i trapped with lex/black mask? how big is the room? are we talking a closet or a warehouse? are we all armed? do I know them?? do they know me? are they holding me hostage? am i holding them hostage? are we both being held hostage by a higher power and we have to somehow work together to escape?

...anyways the answer is luthor. sionis would instantly shoot me in the head for any small reason. ill have a chance of staying alive with luthor

god ur backgrounds are so gorgeous they're singlehandedly making me want to practice drawing some too just so I can get as good as u one day!! just ur lighting and colors are jusr *chefs kiss* 🤌🤌

i answered an ask here about perspective that might help but as for more tips maybe i have two

im a strong believer that you can use any colors you want as long as your values work. value goes together with lighting. you can check your values if you grayscale your work

i find that it's best if important things still read clearly in b&w. if things are getting lost, try brightening or darkening them or the bg. when i'm stuck on a piece, checking values usually instantly un-stucks me.

the 2nd is to deeply consider reflective light/color. reflective light helps blend everything together and makes colors interesting

i usually figure out the dominant colors of my bgs first before going into characters and props - because the bg will tint everything, if that makes sense? example, green and brown for this drawing:

actually whenever anything is put together, they will affect each others color. like damian's shirt above, a white shirt that is affected by damian's skin. and also -

green of gotham on jason's jacket and helmet

red of the sofa on the curtains and tim's clothing

pink of bludhaven on dick's suit

...tbh i should think about reflective light more. i just went back to past pieces and was like ig i did do that. ty past-me for thinking about it

ah that's tough.

If it was damian, i think he would instantly start prying the door open and have us out of there within in a few minutes. and before i have the chance to ask 'how the hell does a 10 year old know how to do that' he would have already disappeared

and tbh i think tim would do the same but he would be stealthy about it and try to engage in small talk to distract me while he...idk hacks the control panel. which would be a mark against tim because im highly susceptible to small talk, i would engage in it as if it was the most interesting conversation in the world, i would be completely distracted, and i don't appreciate being manipulated like that

the lights at my place are set up on a timer and during a certain time, at the dead of the night, everything turns off and the whole place snaps into complete darkness
