Thought I'll post this here since been reading a lot. No, I never get exhausted on creating lore for any storyline. I've been in mcrp space for 10+ years, believe me when I say... I have ideas I really do. Issue is I'm not allowed to write that style of lore like im used to.

It wasn't a choice I was allowed to make but I make work with my writing. Especially since atm I love what I do. This is my job and I'll do my best to make a quality episodes.

Whether it's in the m c r p space or in v r or my own content. Please know that I we'll never run out of creativity for stories. I love characters.I love the environment.And I love how much i'm allowed to do. Certain careers, I work for allow me to write my own things that eventually become fan favorites. While others, I must listen to the rules since they are my clients. I never, ever run out of creativity, or else, how will I pay my bills🥺

I draw, Va, Body act,edit , make blockbench models and write. I do a lot since in the end of the say I wanna be supportive to my friends and clients. Many know me without even knowing me. I've been behind the scenes helping where I can since 2015 on projects with multiple people! So let's clear somethings up:

I should paste here since im assuming majority are not not in the server. Femme Nights has shifted to Roblox. Was not by choice but unfortunately we roll with the punches. Davis is no longer at femme as writer. He is still around for other channels and for his health chose to drop femme. (Dude works on so many channels... so makes sense to drop one)

Flora and I have been the ones taking care of Femme since. So we'll support him same way he supported us. (I better not see a rumor that he hates us. My bestie is over worked plus I mod for him. So... we all friends who help each other. Also he is marring my bestie☺️) I've taken on the mantle as writer for femme while Flora has been overseeing my work and coming up with concepts( we are both figuring out our workload behind the scene🥺) I just got sick and tried of everyone just assuming we "ran out of ideas" or "oh this is a break bc they are overworked" Clearly we haven't met! 😈

Regardless, I promise each video isn't done with the intention of being "baby" we are trying our best with videos. Concepts that are wayyy more but we are hired to work here. So we have to listen to our boss. I can't promise lore will return the same way as VR. I can promise is giving a story and being entertaining. Flora and I hope everyone can understand that part.

Now with that said I know we will be losing a good chunk of the fan base. Hell ive read the comments and heard the hate you've posted about this. I do not blame anyone for leaving and dropping femme! I also don't know too much on roblox but I wanna be better! I wanna thank you folks for allowing us to grow in VR storyline. Now if you stick around please do it for Flora and myself. I promise you I'll do my best together. We just need some patience and positivity. Some actually good criticism then we hate it. We already talking on how we can add some certain characters. Storylines and expand. (Again we are trying so don't quote me. I wanna suprise you if I get the ok.) im excited, excited to see this through but Flora and I need your support.

author's note: this is so me.. i talk way too much so i'm lowkey just projecting myself on here. anyways, requests are open but i'm taking my time replying since i've been busy so just keep that in mind!

▸ hyun-ju is a good listener. a great one, even. she's got a big heart and soul, she's someone who is willing to listen to whatever you have to say. and she doesn't just listen, she tries to understand. which is a quality that is hard to find these days.

▸ you noticed it a bit later in your relationship. every time you talk, she listens and isn't afraid to ask questions regarding your situation or interest. she's genuinely invested in what you have to say. "oh, really? tell me more, hon."

▸ even if you just say random things or suggestions related to literally anything, she's all ears! whatever is going on in your head, every single sentence you utter, she's always nodding a long. she's probably wondering how you managed to say three sentences in a second.

▸ you tend to get very extroverted when you get comfortable. you'd ramble about anything for hours and hours, hyun-ju finds this adorable. she's definitely admiring you as you speak, your words always find a way to her heart.

▸ if you were talking about something she has no clue in, she's gonna research about it either online or in books so she could talk about it with you! even if small mistakes slip, her efforts show. and you appreciate that more than ever.

▸ "wait, you watched the movie and read the book?" — "yeah! i thought it would be nice to discuss it with you. you talked about it nonstop last week, so i figured i'd give it a look, and i must admit- you do have amazing taste."

▸ good moods mean you'd go on walks with hyun-ju and visit multiple parks at once. pointing out random birds, trees, and flower types. speaking whatever crossed your mind in specific moments.

▸ "oh look! a daisy. did you know daisies bloom in the spring like every other flower and their last bloom is in autumn? though, that's very common, um. ah! moon flowers, they only bloom one night a year." you'd giggle, "i did not know, but i do now!" hyun-ju smiles.

▸ during movies you can get very quiet. but as the movie ends, you'd ramble quicker than speed itself. "it's okay. at best. i just don't understand why the characters would do such things! i guess it is fictional, but still! does logic not exist in that universe?"

▸ same thing with books, you can read for hours in silence, but as soon as you close the book... "hyun! you must read this! not only is this one of a kind, but once you read it you can not put it down. i love it so much, it made me tear up a bit because of a character, but, um. okay, no spoilers!"

▸ hyun-ju could get really lost in your voice sometimes. you'd be talking about something silly like rocks or something, and she'd still be mesmerized. hyun-ju thinks that your voice could easily soothe her to sleep.

▸ and it's true, your voice makes her feel so safe. during conversations, she gets sudden realizations of how lucky she truly is. to be able to listen to you, in a calm setting, just the two of you.

▸ if you send her voice notes, she'd listen to it on repeat. especially when she's away or vice versa, she loves hearing your voice over and over as it gives ger comfort.

▸ "hey, hyun! i know you're really busy, and i know you only listen to my voice notes when you're done with work, so i ought to tell you about how much i love you. and how much i miss you. don't forget to tell me goodnight, or not the bed bugs might bite me."

▸ she would never think of your ongoing talks as unimportant. if you would suddenly pause and stop talking, she'd notice immediately. but hyun-ju always reassures you that it's perfectly okay.

▸ if you feel tired or off, and you just wanna be quiet for a bit, hyun-ju likes to ramble too, she does it a bit more often ever since she's met you. her voice is sleepy, her head lays near yours, your bed is cold and hyun-ju is the only source of warmth. as she traces your hands, "do you wanna know what happened earlier in the office?" you'd nod, she'd talk and only stop when you've completely fallen asleep.

▸ "and that's the end of it. goodnight, angel." she'd place a kiss on your forehead before falling asleep herself.

Nobody asked me for my opinion on the controversy that dropped today when the Sonic Movie cast pay rate was revealed, which is fair ig since I try to stay positive on this blog. But in case you're wondering, yeah as a certified AFAB™ I'm pissed, but not really specifically at the Sonic crew. Actor pay rates are usually negotiated between agents and the production companies so just like all the other problems with the Sonic movies, this is most likely an issue with Paramount and their patented dumbfuckery. Disclaimer that obviously it could very well be a Sonic crew issue as well, obviously I don't know the inner workings of the entire film production.

Also, if you're mad about this: please be mad about the pay gap that has been going on as long as Hollywood has been alive. This isn't a problem unique to the SCU. I know the phrase "pay gap" is thrown around a whole lot but do you guys actually know how big an issue it is?

Recent percentages are that male and female actors have "a wage difference of about 25 percent," with an estimated difference of $1-2million between star-power men and star-power women.[x][x] Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone said she made $500k to Michael Douglas's $14mil– and when she was asked to be lead in a film being made in ~2022, the lead male, who was "new", was going to be paid $8-9mil, with her salary still at $500k. Last December, Biggest Monopoly In The World Disney was sued by 9,000 women over their pay gap.

This article is from 2019 but brings up some big fucking pay gaps between leads– for instance, Gillian Anderson was offered half of what David Duchovny was for the X-Files reboot as one of the two main fucking characters, Amanda Seyfried has disclosed she made 10% of what her male co-star made on an undisclosed film, Natalie Portman made 1/3 of the salary of Ashton Kutcher in No Strings Attached, and Ellen Pompeo, the titular character of Grey's Anatomy, was paid less than the actor playing her love interest, Patrick Dempsey. In fact, Dempsey was being paid almost double what she was.

However, BIG issue with the 2019 article: it only focuses on what White actors are being paid. Research shows that Black actresses make 57 cents to every dollar white actors make on a good day. Viola Davis, one of the most popular and talented actresses of our generation, has said that black women "get probably a tenth of what a Caucasian woman gets. And I'm number one on the call sheet." Octavia Spencer had to collaborate with Jessica Chastain to make sure they both got paid the same amount of money on a film they both worked on, and revealed that her new salary increased 500% afterwards.

At the end of last year, while promo-ing The Color Purple, Taraji P. Henson broke into tears while talking about how little she's being paid when compared to her white and male contemporaries. And when she talked about the gap, I find it so fucking frustrating that the general audience response was to immediately blame the only Black female producer on the film. I have a million gripes with Oprah Winfrey but TCP cast has said that she herself managed to fix a lot of the problems on set and was nothing but supportive to them. Oh, and there were a lot of problems on set, including a lack of food and dressing space for the main actors. And this is all from celebrity women. Just think about how Hollywood is treating women who don't have the star power to speak up.

Of course this isn't even a problem solo to Hollywood, let alone Paramount, let alone just one movie. And honestly it was probably really sad that when I saw the pay rate for the Sonic 3 cast, I wasn't even surprised, because I've seen worse on bigger projects.

SW Hades AU MAY-JUNE Update

I managed to put together an update post with more than just May the 4th Boba :D Happy Pride, happy last days of June, and please enjoy the fact that I finally added 2 more ladies to the Hades AU. Full renders will come.... eventually ^^; I feel like I'm really super overdue to one though...

I've drawn a younger, cockier Boba in the style of Hades 2 (instead of the usual Hades (1)) for May the 4th, because I am very much obsessed with the game and I desperately wanted to draw Boba again.

It's been deeply unfair to him that I had drawn him way back in 2022 (Jesus Christ! am I taking my sweet time) and never again ever since in this style. But when he wears it so well!

I also have a surprise Leia! And Satine as well!

If you recall I'd had the hardest of time for months to come up with anything for Leia, which I can only partially blame on whatever shape of artblock/burnout/exhaustion I had been feeling recently. Then one night - BAM! I was just messing around, looking at pose references on my pinterest boards and sketching and all, and suddenly I had a "businesswoman in a rush between meetings not having enough time for your shit" pose and look for her that I was very happy with. Might have been shortly after I watched (and had a great time while doing it) The Phantom Menace. Or the end of Andor. One of these two.

Originally I wanted her to appear as if she was on a holo call with Din, projected by R2, because she is busy and in a rush (like Hermes), but I'm undecided if I will want to go through with that in the end. Mainly because I'm not very thrilled by the idea of having to draw a portrait for R2 as well for that.

I also had a surprisingly great time coming up with a getup for her!

I believe that I finally started slipping along the double edged sword of how it's both a hindrance and liberation that I don't have to come up with character designs of my own for this AU to most characters. It takes a lot of pressure off me that I can treat this as a style and coloring exercise, but at the same time it's very limiting. I think I have already bemoaned how Star Wars character designs can be so grey and same-y at times (especially in the Outer Rim, and seriously, why is everyone so blue? Or black and grey) whereas Hades is so beautifully and colorfully designed!

I did a tiny bit of research on Wookiepedia - nothing major, as this was still just a past-midnight-waste-some-time sketch - and set out to merge some design and wardrobe elements from Breha, Bail and General Organa. If you can make out my handwritten notes, you might see some of these design elements, and to whom they shall refer to (like the bracers and belt to Bail, the braids and bun for Breha and Leia's own future). Ultimately more of the "Bail" elements won out if you wanted to weigh them against each other. I feel like that would fit Leia, her fierceness, and pragmatic strictness and determination best.

I'm a little regretful about the veil, but I worried that it would be too much flowy fabric next to her sleeves/cape. Very sad.

So it really was a relief to get into some designing with Leia, and to add some more colors and intricate details to Satine.

I don't have that much more to say about Boba and Satine tbh. Mostly because Boba is still a bit of a miracle I'm still unsure how he happened and how he looks so good (although not shiny enough compared to the latest update of Hades2 where all the gods, and really all the characters, are suuuuuper shiny. like. seriously). While with Satine my only goal was to make her look less willow-y (because it drives me insane how everyone in TCW is so damn thin), and might have fallen off on the other side of the horse (I'm pretty sure that's not the actual English idiom, please excuse me), and she's got some real massive shoulders and sleeves XD also how does she keep her head up with all that on her head? ^^;

Anyways, I love her with all her faults, and I just really wanted her to look beautiful and sad, and Mandalorian, and let her wear beskar heart elements in her design.

Stellar the Hedgehog Analysis

Just got home from watching the third Sonic movie, and since it focuses so much on Sonic and Shadow's relationship, I thought it'd be the best time to do something I've wanted to do for a while - drop an incredibly long post about my thoughts on @emthimofnight's Sonadow fankid, Stellar the Hedgehog.

A lot of the time, Sonic OCs have been passed off as "cringe", due to the unfortunately well-known ones, but the actual community is full of some of the most dedicated lore-makers and designers I've ever seen, and I'm not even someone who knows Sonic that well! I've done a fair bit of research on the series, but I've never played the main games for myself. I just stumbled onto Stellar while I was mindlessly scrolling, and as I checked out all the posts regarding her, I realised I'd found one of the most intricate, passionate fan creations I'd ever seen, and she's been living rent-free in my head ever since.

Now, for the meat of this post: My analytical thoughts on her. Let's break it down into categories:

Design and Personality:

I'm no expert on character design, I've barely even tried to do it myself (outside of my over-designed Miitopia OCs), but Stellar is absolutely striking. Her fur colour is a clever blend of Sonic's blue and Shadow's black, a dark blue resembling space, with a splash of red thrown in to add to the Shadow of it all. She has stripes as well, but as opposed to Shadow's slashing shapes, hers are more bendy, twisting into the form of a star. Inhibitor rings are strapped to her sneakers, a very poetic combination of her dads' getups, but she's also got her knee and elbow guards, a little touch of her own that links in with her fighting style, and also represents the constant protection around her which I'll get to later.

She's extremely star-coded, from the name to the space colour to the fur markings, and I think that was the perfect direction to go. Stars feel ethereal, but entirely grounded at the same time, a cosmic entity we can look towards at any point. Stellar is much the same, she contains an absolutely incredible power, taking after two previous incredible powers, but her personality is so warm and cheerful, and her very existence is what brings Sonic and Shadow together.

And that's the other point I want to make in this category. Stellar actually has three older siblings who died before they were born (I'll get to that), and they're essentially a sliding scale of Shadow's genes to Sonic's genes. Void is almost entirely Shadow, Andromeda has a bit more Sonic, Polarity is more Sonic than Shadow, and Stellar herself is the only true balance. That's a good word to describe what she represents, balance. Sonic's kindness combined with Shadow's anger, Sonic's showboating combined with Shadow's self-confidence, with her own bubbliness and grace added on top. Everything about her design, just like her role in the "SonDADow AU", simply clicks together.

Background Lore:

As someone unfamiliar with the history of the Sonic fandom, I'm not sure how common the "Sonadow fankid made in a lab" trope is. I know Stellar was not the first, and it'd be unreasonable to assume she was - but I'm willing to bet that Emthim has the very best exploration of the concept.

The failed siblings, for a start. That's a dark turn to take off the bat, the idea that Project: STELLAR has been attempted so many times, and still hasn't been shut down because these people are so desperate to put more insane power out into the world, but it really does set the tone for what's going on here. Stellar, just like Shadow, isn't being viewed as a genuine lifeform despite her title, she and all her siblings were a piece in the puzzle for a bunch of self-absorbed scientists trying to recreate a project that was inhumane from the start. Shadow is frequently pictured as struggling to cope with the knowledge of this project, and of the failed siblings, as it'd very obviously strike a lot of nerves. Sonic reminds him to move forward, though. Just like he always has.

That's another incredible aspect of all of this - Sonic and Shadow being forced to parent together despite being not-very-close-friends before this point. The little interactions displaying their bickering about how much influence each of them have had on their daughter, and constantly fumbling on taking care of her because all three of them have overpowering abilities that completely change how they go about their lives, give so much life to the relationship depicted between them all. Stellar is never outright told about her origin, because Sonic and Shadow want to keep her out of that life, and that level of protection being shown both warms the heart, and fills it with a sense of dread for when she'll find out, because it's (realistically) not a perfect strategy. This all adds so much to the idea that they were haphazardly thrown together by the circumstances of Stellar's very existence, and the duo of hedgehogs are just trying to make do.

Stellar as a sort of "dark star", in her ultimate form or Villain AU, is a concept that really ties it all together. She originated from an evil cause, something that only exists to cause unparalleled destruction, and yet her good will and sense of justice shines through no matter what. You can tie aspects of the same theme to both of her parents, but it's wholly concentrated in her story.

Powers and Abilities:

She's a figure-skater. That's pretty much the whole reason this category exists, I really want to break that down for a second.

The duality of ice skating is one-to-one with the duality of Stellar, in my eyes. It's a graceful, beautiful, typically feminine activity, but it's incredibly easy to cause damage with those blades, and strike the sickest poses on your foes. Stellar has a clearly-defined soft side to her, she's very sweet to the people she cares about, and has that all-encompassing energy only a child of Sonic could possess, but just as much as that, she will rip and tear through someone at a moment's notice if they piss her off, she's got that impulsiveness to her, and we all know she's got the power to back it up. She can be either of these things at any moment, the artistic blade always has an edge to it, and the contrast is no contradiction - She simply is all of her.

On top of that, I want to talk more about the dark/collapsing star form. The idea that she possesses such capacity for destruction, which could take her over from the inside out, that would leave her loved ones desperately reaching out to find that shining star - it has not left my mind since I first saw it. It's one of the most compelling narrative devices anywhere in this AU, there's so much potential in a character like Stellar, making an impact wherever she moves, becoming shrouded in the colossal darkness that still plagues her life no matter what she does. As for the specific piece that drew me into this form so much? I'll link it in the final category.

The first image in the set is the one I was just referencing, but I'd be retreading ground by talking about it, so I'll focus more on their relationship in general.

I love how it's so "mutual pining childhood friends"-coded, while also straying a decent bit away from the common tropes. Only Camellia has the feelings bouncing around her head like a DVD logo every moment of her life, because Stellar doesn't actually comprehend it at all, despite feeling much the same. True to her nature, she's so focused on building positive relationships with people that she doesn't recognise some of the intricacies of what the relationship is truly like, or what she truly feels herself. She's at her softest around Camellia, due to their long-lasting affection, but she's also at her fiercest when she gets protective. Camellia brings out every aspect of her personality in a way no-one else does... and certainly not a dishonest rival.

Rocket is my absolute favourite addition to the Camellar dynamic because he throws such a gigantic wrench in everything. His relationship with Stellar has none of the safety that Camellia's does, he's all about the thrill of it, feeding into the inexplicable attraction without thought of whether it'll hurt in the end or not. Initially, this is all one-sided on Stellar's side, eventually becoming one-sided on Rocket's, and either way, it brings about a vindictiveness in Camellia she usually isn't prone to, because just as much as Stellar is looking out for her, she's looking out for Stellar - in a variety of ways. She wants what's best for her, but she's also throughly convinced that it won't be anyone other than herself, and she's also right, especially since Rocket's such a prick at the end of the day.

The truth is, the reason Sonic and Shadow work is that they can keep up with each other. Both of their life stories are about becoming as free of a spirit as they can be, tossing aside everything thrown in their path to become confident in themselves and what they stand for. Stellar and Camellia are much the same. From an aesthetics and basic dynamic standpoint, there's more comparisons to draw between them and Sonamy, but in that case, it's entire game's worth of miscommunication and problem avoidance. In the case of Camellar, they're significantly more head-on with everything, they're both incredibly blunt about their affection, it's just that the romance aspect is lost in translation on Stellar's side. Not like that's the part that really matters, it's the mere unbreakable bond. The one that gets a princess desperately reaching out through a collapsing star for its heart. The one that gets a shining star to settle down for a moment.

Closing Thoughts:

This post definitely didn't cover everything. So much about Stellar is whirring around my brain at any given moment, I have no idea how I'd manage to jot it all down in a comprehensible and complete format, but this is what I've got. A post that hopefully shows just how deep my appreciation for Emthim's work goes, and how talented of a creator I believe her to be. Thank you for reading.

Future IFs Poll

So, in case you have not seen me post about it before, I am considering a project to do on the side while I work on God-Cursed. This will help me take breaks from my main work and stretch my creativity muscles with different characters and settings. I'd like a bit of feedback from what readers are more interested in from the best ideas I can potentially pull from right now. Feel free to vote, comment, or even send an ask if you want to be anonymous.

Over the last year or so, I have jotted down many basic plots I could expound on, but only a few have really stuck out to me as ones I could really expand in a meaningful way.

So, a couple housekeeping things to keep in mind. Whatever ends up getting written, it will have a modern-day setting. The fantasy playground is fun, but I really want a more real-world setting for this one. I am also debating about all ROs being gender-selectable. Since this side piece is supposed to be a little oasis for me too, not having each RO as customizable would ease the work that goes into it, and it might actually mean I can have more than just a few options for you as well. I am also considering a middle ground and having one or two characters customizable still while the others will be set.

Below I have given some details on the ideas I'm working with and further down is a poll that you can vote for the one that calls out to you the most. I have 2 ideas so far that are standouts among the others, but I've included 4 in the poll that I can work with. The winner isn't guaranteed to be what I end up writing, but I am very strongly going to consider the results while I decide. I like all these ideas and they sound fun to write - so none of this telling me to write what I want - I already want to do them all, lol (looking at you @elegantunknownphantom). There are caveats to each one, of course, and I'll explain that in the details.

Options:

Serial-killer crime drama:  "Daddy was a Killer" (title sounds like it came from a Lifetime original movie, but I really like it)

No doting daddies here, readers. Play as the traumatized child of a serial killer with repressed memories of the horrible things they witnessed daddy do. Get accused of a murder you didn't commit (probably), and try to catch your darling dad while dealing with the psychological devastation of all the horrors you've seen before he can kill again (and again, and again). Discover where your daddy disappeared to all those years ago, and what really happened to your mom.

Downsides:  I have a decent grasp of the plot on this one, but it would require a good deal of research (which I tend to do anyway to an extent), since I'd like a fairly realistic feel to the actual crime-solving stuff. Either that, or I can go the "rogue detective" route and play it fast and loose. This work would be in a wheelhouse I've never quite been in before, which is fun on one hand but nerve-wracking on another.

RO ideas include:

A smarmy detective (of course!)

A neighbor concerned for your well-being (mostly because you scream in your sleep)

And the child of one of your daddy's victims.

2. Supernatural mystery:  "Shivers" (title up for adjustment, but I kinda dig it)

Play as an MC with a bizarre anxious tic - an intense and chilling shiver that you get seemingly out of nowhere. It only lasts a couple seconds and you've dealt with it since childhood, so it's easily dismissed. That is, until you experience a sudden surge in occurrences. Your doctor writes it off as stress from dealing with the erratic behavior of your mother. But after a near-death experience, during which this mysterious tic guides you to safety, you know there is more to it than stress. With the help of your best friend(s) and a shady medium, find out what has attached itself to you and what seeks to claim you, discover who your real father is, and embrace or deny your own strengths as a medium.

Downsides:  I feel like there's a lot of supernatural IFs already, some of which are already similar to this or have similar aspects. This one probably won't have the drama/emotional potential that some of the others do, which may be a boon to some readers as it would be a little lighter.

RO ideas include:

the best friend(s) (potentially 2 besties to choose from - twins)

a (mostly) fake spiritual medium

a brave EMT who came to your rescue

and something…otherworldly.

3. Gritty Drama:  no title  (more of a framework to build from)

This one would be completely riddled with warnings, and I kinda just see it as being a fun outlet for some angst, smut, unhinged shit, and violence. 👍

The ideas for this one didn't start around a firm plot, but around a setting/scenario stemming from one of my OCs. The vibe here is very much "sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll" and fits into the seedy nightclub/crime ring thing. It would be a playground of questionable characters and life-choices. You would choose the dire straits that put your MC in the employ of a dangerous kingpin. Perhaps MC owes a lot of money to someone, got into trouble with a rival faction, or was framed for a crime, etc.... You'd get to choose the MC's line of work under the organization - be it in drugs, entertainment (music/dance/alcohol/sex), or security. The issue that leads to your employ under a sex-peddling drug-trafficker will haunt you in your new life in the middle of a war between the rulers of the underground.

Downsides:  Not super fleshed-out plot wise, but I don't think it would be too hard to build on either. I may want to use this setting (or something like it) and my OC for a different project one of these days, but I'm unsure about that as well. And, the obvious, red flags and triggers everywhere for a setting like this.

RO ideas: 

One person from each potential "job" (the head of security, a chemist who seems too pure to be making hard drugs, a sex-worker, the clumsy bartender, a cute DJ)

A member of a rival faction

And for the brave and stupid - your boss - a clever and unhinged woman with an affinity for knives. And, no, she will never love you.

4. Futuristic:  no title (needs the most work)

Including this one to just get a feel for how it's received, but I anticipate that it won't get quite as much backing as the others. I have the character-creation concept in mind which lends itself to a plot, and a RO or two, but that's about it. I think I could do something fun with it, but I've also never written anything futuristic or scifi before. This would be akin to "Detroit: Become Human."

Though the setting would be futuristic, I am pretty sure I wouldn't want to do a dystopian thing. There's a lot of that out there already and we're basically living it IRL; it's a blast to read, but I want the main focus to be on something else if I do this. There would still be pockets of grittiness to the setting, because if we're talking humanity, there's gonna be grit somewhere. But this world would be more post-dystopian. Say, the rebels won and life has gotten better across the board for people? And though everyday life has a lot of tech enhancements, we haven't seen sentient machines - yet. That's where you come in.

The MC Concept is that they are an android - of course! One of the nice made-to-order kind that only the rich can afford. But what makes the MC unique is that while everyone else requests specific things about the androids they purchase - such as gender, looks and even downloadable personalities - an order comes in that's blank. It only requests that the android be allowed to choose who they are and how they look. "The Buyer" will pay for whatever personality, enhancements, or clothing they want - but the android must make the choices themselves.

As your MC goes through these initial choices, equipped only with a basic "education" software full of un-opinionated information about the world and how it works, something unusual begins to spark within them (not that they know how unusual it is yet).

RO ideas:

The Buyer–a gender-selectable person who sets your creation in motion. They're wealthy, well-respected, earnest, and incredibly lonely. Who are they really and why did they do this?

The Scientist–a hopefully trustworthy person that's very interested in your development

The Punk–someone who wants to give you the "real" human experience.

Who did Asclepius resurrect ?

A couple days ago, I discussed the idea of mortals defeating gods with @kill-me-with-a-spoon on a comment section of my "thoughts on Epic" post.

We talked about Diomedes and Perseus briefly, but then a third example came in : Asclepius.

And I find this specific mention interesting because I didn't think about it but it kinda makes sense 😂

He didn't defeat any god like the two former heroes, that being physically overwhelming them. Instead, he simply "cures" death, thus Thanatos' doing. Not only his, but the Fates' too considering they cut the thread of life. And he meddled with Hades' realm, something that he hated and we know how that ended.

(Hades hating doctors will never not be funny)

I made some research on him for personal projects and so I want to use it right now for personal ramblings about who exactly Asclepius resurrected.

@kill-me-with-a-spoon was pointing out that if, by technicality, he didn't interfere with Hades' domain if souls he resurrected didn't cross the Styx. And I've got to say, I think he did.

Also, I completely agree with the fact that they're still killable. They won't die from the same cause since Asclepius heals their injuries but he doesn't deify anyone.

If we look up different sources, here's the list of people he resurrected.

Hippolytus (according to Pausanias and latin sources like Pseudo-Hyginus or Ovid)

What makes this particularly interesting is that Artemis is the one who has this idea. It shows that portraying her as a man hater is completely wrong since she asks her male nephew to resurrect her male friend/devotee. It shows her bond with Hippolytus (his death was very unfair, so I get it) and with Apollo too, since she trusted her brother's son completely.

Then, it's just funny but in-character that Theseus isn't the one who has the idea to resurrect his son, because of course he wouldn't think about it 😂. It's even funnier if we take late sources stating that Asclepius was among the Argonauts. Because Theseus was too, so they knew each other personally and yet Theseus couldn't think about it.

Another detail : Hippolytus seems to forgive Theseus in Euripides' play, but NOT after coming back to life in Pausanias' version. Different versions, I know, but if we mix the two, then we could interpret that maybe all this time in the Underworld gave him the opportunity to think about it, or maybe, with a new chance to live, he doesn't want to stay with his father.

I get you, Hippolytus. Go have fun.

Capaneus (according to Stesichorus)

What's interesting here is how Capaneus died : he participated in Polynice's siege against Thebes but was killed... by Zeus. He was struck by lightning because of hubris.

And then Asclepius comes and resurrects this guy. All the more reasons for Zeus to be angered. That means he came in and decided to undo divine punishment, the same one that will be his own doom in the future. It's pretty chilling for me.

Lycurgus

So, there are a lot of Lycurguses in mythology.

In the beginning, I thought it was Lycurgus of Thrace, which would've been hilarious because if this guy comes back to life, he'll come back traumatized and insane (also, any grapevine would be the source of PTSD flashbacks). And again, that would've mean undoing divine punishments.

BUT it seems to be a separate Lycurgus that was resurrected. Not the one who offended Dionysus.

It's also not Admetus' brother of the same name, though the logical link would've been easy to make (because of Apollo's servitude and Admetus also being an Argonaut according to some sources).

Honestly, Wikipedia is the only place where the Lycurgus that Asclepius resurrected is distinguished. Even then, the article speaks of a probable case and lists Apollodorus as a source. So not even researchers are completely sure of which Lycurgus it was.

Hymen/Hymenaios : yeah, according to the Orphics, he resurrected some guy named Hymen, even though the only figure with this name is a god... it would've been very interesting to analyze if I had more details about it. Unfortunately, there aren't really.

Tyndareus

Glaucus : It's funny how Asclepius resurrects both Theseus AND Minos' son. Though that exploit is more often attributed to the prophet and healer Polyidos. I wonder if there was some untold teacher-student relationship between the two, since Asclepius is one of the inventors of medicine (with Chiron)

And then there's this woman :

This cracks me up, because this little story alone states that Asclepius as a GOD still resurrects the dead even though he was punished for it. Tbf, he probably had to explain this to Zeus, that he had to compensate his partners' mistake. Still, that's hilarious that not even divine might stopped him.

Don't tell me he didn't know what he was doing. He's a smart guy and his father is literally mr. God of prophecy. I like his audacity.

So, coming back to the initial subject, with the sheer number of mentioned names, I do think they had the time to be buried and cross the Styx (except Capaneus, who was probably turned into ashes lol).

Asclepius definetly meddled with Hades' domain, thus angering the god of the dead and he 100% provoked Zeus.

But, not all the gods were agaisnt him. If we take the version where he resurrects people with gorgon blood, then Athena, who gave it to him, was in favor of his operations.

Then, there is Artemis who asked him to bring back Hippolytus and finally, quite obviously, his n°1 supporter is his own father Apollo (oh god, I could make a whole new post rambling just about Apollo and Asclepius).

So yeah, I really like this myth for many reasons and this is one of them : how it's tied to many other stories, how different figures behave and react to Asclepius' antics, how it puts the system of life and death into questions, etc...

Anyways, if you have anything to comment on about this myth, don't hesitate. I'd love to discuss it more !

Danganronpa Ultimate Categorization

Welcome back to another episode of: Jade is a nerd about something absolutely useless! Today's topic: Talent classification in Danganronpa/Fangans.

In the process of making my own fangan/s, I've created a classification system for the types of talents you can give characters. These classifications are...

Arts: Talents that are involved in the visual arts, performing arts, or fashion. Encompasses performers of all types, any type of visual artist, or anyone involved in fashion. (Ex. Actor, Abstract Artist, Model)

Practical: Talents that focus on a specialized skill or work with your hands. Also includes any talents that are religious or spiritual in nature. (Ex. Mechanical Engineer, Detective, Shrine Maiden)

Academic: Talents that are recognized by how much knowledge or experience a character has in an academic field. Covers most science, literature, math, and research based talents. (Ex. Chemist, Theologian, Archaeologist)

Sports: Talents relating to athletic skill. (Ex. Footballer, Kickboxer, Bowler)

Novelty: Talents given to a person who is special simply by existing. Can also be given to characters who win a contest for their talent. Includes Lucky/Unlucky Students, royalty, and non-human characters. (Ex. Lucky Student, Student, Princess)

This system of classification was based on my experience in the community over about three or four years, seeing many other people's original characters as well as creating my own. I found many fell into these categories. My "perfect" ratio, which my friends and I used as a guideline for making our fangan casts, is 4 arts : 4 practical : 4 academic : 2 sports: 2 novelty. I felt this ratio kept things even and grounded.

A few months ago, I began to wonder if my "perfect" ratio was more of my own creation than an actual pattern I saw. I thought, in the event it was, that I would come up with a mathematically accurate ratio that better represented the talent distribution of Danganronpa and its fan projects. This was my attempt at doing just that.

Data Collection

For this, I tried to collect as varied of a sample as possible. I included the three mainline Danganronpa games and sixteen fangans, ranging from very popular ones to very obscure ones. The fangans sampled for this analysis were...

I figured out the talent ratio for each individual game by looking through their casts and sorting them with my classification system. Ultimate ???'s were thrown out if possible (such as in the case of Akeda Amusements, where Hanari was thrown out due to the fangan having seventeen participants) and if not, they were counted as novelty.

Also, shout out to Yuki Maeda and Teruya Ōtori for managing to count for two different data sets despite my best efforts at finagling a way to keep them confined to one.

Observations

The first thing I noticed in looking at the ratios for canon Danganronpa was that Academic ultimates are underrepresented compared to what I initially remembered. It had been a while since I revisited the mainline games, and it was a shock to be reminded of that. I was also reminded, but not quite as shocked by the greater emphasis on practical ultimates.

In fangans, the focus on practical ultimates continues to be heavy, with none having less than two. There was also less focus on sports ultimates, with the majority having only one or two compared to the three that the mainline games had a majority of the time. They also tend to have more academic ultimates.

I think that this could be explained by looking at the types of people who make fangans. The majority of people I know who make fangans have very particular knowledge about certain fields due to experience or heavy research, and more often than not these fields do not include sports. They are more likely to make characters based on their experiences and knowledge that they can then insert into the story to make it seem more authentic.

I also, unsurprisingly, found that my "perfect" ratio was not reflected in many of the fangans I looked at. There was only one besides my own that followed that ratio.

Now, if my "perfect" ratio is not the mathematically perfect ratio, then what is?

According to the data collected for the canon games, this is.

This just so happens to also be the ratio for Trigger Happy Havoc.

According to the data collected from the fangans, this is the perfect ratio.

The only fangan that followed this ratio exactly was Akeda Amusements. V3 also had this distribution.

When considering both mainline and fan made games, the perfect ratio was this.

Ironically, not a single mainline game or fan game followed this ratio.

Out of curiosity, I also calculated the standard deviation for each data set.

Canon Danganronpa has little to no variation, conveying that talent ratios are quite consistent between games. The biggest variation would be in the novelty category, making sense as V3 scaled down the amount of novelty ultimates compared to the other two games.

The fangans are shown to have a much larger variation. Though I can't be surprised by this, as perhaps it is an unfair comparison. The mainline Danganronpa games were written by mostly the same team and had less to sample from, while the fangans have not only a larger sample size in which to deviate, but many different writers that think differently about talent distribution.

Final Thoughts

In putting this all together, I found that my classification system, while not perfect in any sense of the word, has some validity to it. If I wanted to, I could definitely make some improvements to it (especially in distinguishing between certain academic and practical fields from novelty), but as of now it works perfectly fine as an aide in cast creation for me.

My ratio is also not perfect, which was an expected outcome. Really none of the ratios I found are perfect, with none of them representing more than one or two of any mainline or fan made game. While ratios like the ones I found can be good for making sure you have a balanced distribution of talents, they aren't required to make a good cast. Personally, I'll continue using my personal "perfect" ratio as a baseline for any cast I make in the future.

König Character Analysis (Part 1)

the first installment of a multi-part character analysis for our beloved König

to convince you guys i know what I'm talking about, just look through my blog at my könig posts. I am confident that I have grasped most parts of his personality and backstory, but I will acknowledge that some of it may be projecting. obviously we do not know much about him, which is the point of this series. i also relate a lot to him

discussion of my interpretation is welcome in the comments, and if you disagree, there's no need to be hateful. he is, at the end of the day, not real

TW: bullying, social anxiety, other mental health disorders

We have very little information on könig's life before the military. his bio includes one sentence, just one, about his past:

König suffered from severe social anxiety throughout his life, often being bullied during his childhood.

while this information alone isn't striking, when put into more context of other parts of his bio, it says:

While he hoped to join as a recon sniper, his physical size and his inability to stay still made him an unsuitable candidate.

focus on those words: his inability to stay still. this crucial bit of information, tied to the fact that he was often bullied, leads me to conclude that könig has ADHD. not being able to sit still is not a stereotype, it is a real fact of life for those with ADHD, me included. people with ADHD are bullied much more than neurotypicals (people without ADHD, autism, etc). while each source is different, it is estimated that children with ADHD are 4-10x more likely to be bullied.

it is no wonder why bullying would cause social anxiety, since most of könig's interactions with his peers were negative. as someone with social anxiety, it is horrible. not knowing what to say or how to act, you end up either completely misreading the social context or not saying anything. either way, you can never win.

additionally, children with ADHD receive up to 20,000 more negative messages from parents and peers in their childhood than neurotypical children. because of this, it is common for people with ADHD to also be extra sensitive to rejection, and it can be so strong in some that a new term has been coined called "rejection sensitive dysphoria." research on this issue has revealed that 99% of people with ADHD also have and experience rejection sensitive dysphoria. therefore, it makes sense to conclude that König also experiences rejection sensitive dysphoria (rsd)

an aside on rsd: this isn't just feeling hurt when you're rejected by a crush or feeling sheepish or embarrassed you're scolded at work or school. rsd episodes make you question your entire life, your personality, your worth, and for many can even lead to suicidal thoughts just from a small incident of rejection. it can also lead to the person having low self-esteem, and they are also more likely to perceive rejection even when it is not there. it is an intense and overwhelming experience that no one should have to go through, yet people with ADHD experience it often

so, we've established, based on the evidence i've provided, that König has ADHD, social anxiety, and experiences rsd. i would say that i can't even imagine what König's childhood was like, but sadly I can since i too have adhd and was bullied. being mean is never okay, and bullying is not cute or quirky or sassy. bullying is when someone kicks your books across the floor, steals and destroys your belongings, when they spread false rumors, make fun of you, laugh at you, when they give you mean faces when you ask questions in class, when your only friend is the other "weird" kid who also has ADHD. it's when your teachers constantly criticize you and you get in trouble for every little thing. it's when you just wanted a friend and everyone else knew how to socialize, but somehow, you didn't. being bullied while also having ADHD is an experience i wish on no one. yet könig went through this. just sit with that for a minute. the big scary military man we love was also a child once, and went through this.

sorry to depress you guys, but this is the reality of his character. i firmly believe that könig has ADHD and experiences rsd despite his untouchable and stoic demeanor, and you're not gonna change my mind.

I read your yaoi theory essay and I'm just slightly confused- not about the theory. It's the fact that you say Gnosis hates the doctor. I'm sorry it's been awhile since I've checked out the story. Could you maybe elaborate on that?

Oh, certainly!

If you look at Gnosis's voice lines when you set him as assistant, there's a very stark contrast between them and the way he speaks and behaves in BI and RS. He's extremely blunt and cold towards Doctor, even in his new year's and anniversary lines, offering up only the most perfunctory, basic, and crisp greetings before retreating back into the lab. He gives off the impression that he doesn't want to talk to Doctor for more than absolutely necessary. He offers no personal information, and replies very curtly and shortly to the presumed questions that Doctor asks him, such about Enciodes's sisters, etc. In Enciodes's second oprec, Enciodes also comments that Gnosis has already made a name for himself within Rhodes already thanks to not just his talent but also his personality.

He's a lot more chill and much less snippy with Enciodes and Degenbrecher, to the point where if you were to listen to only his lines, you'd have a completely different impression of him as a character vs the way he really is in the story--and this is something I've noticed before when I read other peoples' impressions of him. There's a persistent image of Gnosis that lingers around the fandom that is very surface-level, reading him as someone extremely fixated on research and nothing more (as much as his file emphasizes it), but this is inconsistent and incongruous with the rest of his lore and something I believe is the image he chooses to project to Rhodes Island, he's put on a very reserved facade, particularly compared to how he is in RS.

Secondly, I also say that Gnosis dislikes Doctor because, well, he kinda says so. He does not speak nicely of Doctor at all in BI.

In BI-8:

Gnosis: Enciodes, your arrogance is truly loathsome. To wax admiringly about the actions of your enemy at a time like this.

Then later:

Gnosis: ...Having second thoughts now, Enciodes? Enciodes: What do you mean? Gnosis: You ignored my advice and brought that Doctor to Kjerag. Enciodes: Do you think we lost? Gnosis: Does this not seem like a loss to you?

In BI-ST-4:

Gnosis (angry sprite): You just didn't expect that the person you were trying to win over the most would almost sabotage your plan. [...] Gnosis: Also, I'd like to meet this Doctor for myself. Enciodes: Oh, are you interested? Gnosis: As if. I simply want to see whether your Doctor, who has already left a mark on this land, will end up becoming our enemy.

In addition, there is this conversation between the trio in RS-8:

Gnosis: This terrible habit of yours of neglecting the bigger picture when you take action... Forget it, you and Enciodes are pretty much the same. I'm not asking either of you to change your ways. Gnosis: All I ask is that next time, please go to the trouble of restraining yourselves, just for a little bit. You'll save me from having to wrack my brain to find ways to clean up your messes. Degenbrecher: Duly noted, Gnosis. What do you think, Enciodes? Enciodes: I have not the strength to casually cut apart a giant statue tens of meters high. Degenbrecher: Indeed. Degenbrecher: You merely invited that Doctor over, who then proceeded to nearly ruin our plans is all. Enciodes: ......

Not only is Gnosis uninterested in forging a personal connection with Doctor the way Enciodes is keen to do (something which Gnosis tells Doctor point-blank), I believe part of Gnosis's frostiness stems from the fact that he is holding a grudge over Doctor's interference during Break The Ice. Gnosis was against inviting Doctor to Kjerag, and Doctor nearly made them lose everything they've been working towards during their most important scheme, of which Gnosis himself repeatedly says there is no do-over and which could easily cost Enciodes his life (both of them, likely). Gnosis is also very aggravated and frustrated trying to outmaneuver Doctor in BI, which he doesn't manage to do. That's reason alone for Gnosis to be very cold to Doctor, regardless of Doctor being Karlan Trade's ally. By the conversation in RS, we also see that neither Degenbrecher nor Gnosis have forgotten that Enciodes inviting Doctor almost messed up everything, and they're still giving him flack for it three years later, Degenbrecher more bluntly and Gnosis complaining about having to clean up Enciodes's messes.

So with all that, namely Gnosis unhappily having to deal with the monkey wrench that was Doctor during BI and then his frigid and borderline rude demeanor within Rhodes Island, I believe that he simply does not like Doctor very much.

ok so the big issue for me with the way Ajaw is treated in canon is that you'll have lore showing up in world quests & all that about the 13 sovereign lords that very strongly implies that Ajaw is, in fact, telling the truth about having been a dragonlord (which I've believed since 5.0 because Genshin's lore puts importance on dragons and I thought that if a character was loudly claiming to be some big important dragon, there might be a grain of truth to it at the very least) and at the same time the other characters will be treating Ajaw like he's a spoiled pet throwing a tantrum.

And it's pretty clear that we're meant to think that Ajaw was one of the 13 sovereign lords, since only one is still alive and "not in the form that it would have wished to maintain". We're not supposed to think it's Ixlel because at this point she's already died in Open Your Heart to Me, so the one character we've already met who is definitely not in a form he wants to be in and also claims to be a dragonlord would be Ajaw. I think it's highly unlikely that this is referring to someone else and that Genshin's just gonna later go "this was actually referring to a completely different person and Ajaw is full of shit lol"

and like... yeah I get it, it's funny for a character with a big ego to not be taken seriously by others and Ajaw is meant to be a comic relief character. But it the Whirling Waltz event particularly bothered me because we just got huge new info about the 13 sovereign lords (and 2 very possible identities for Ajaw) in the patch immediately before that event and then during the event Ajaw was treated less like a person than Cacucu was. And yeah, Cacucu can canonically understand human speech perfectly fine and just can't speak it very well, something you can learn by talking to Cacucu while indwelling a saurian during Mavuika's story quest, but it's the fact that Cacucu is not only a fucking bird but also not even an adult qucusaur and yet he's treated with more dignity than Ajaw, who is canonically thousands of years old (Kinich Character Story 5: "According to reliable research by the Saurian Relics Association, Ajaw is a bona fide relic from the era of dragons, dating back several millennia.")

The tone change between Ajaw's lore and the way Ajaw is treated by other characters, and the game in general, leaves a bad taste in my mouth sometimes. Even outside of the lore found in world quests and stuff, it's been shown that Ajaw isn't 100% a mean, boastful little brat. Take Kinich's vision story for example:

Ajaw shows a side of himself here that we don't really see normally. That we aren't allowed to see because the game is too busy treating him like a yappy little dog, or a toddler throwing a tantrum. Ajaw is antagonistic definitely, but despite his sealed appearance he's not that 2d of a character.

Ajaw's treatment by other characters feels fitting of his current form almost, to me. He was robbed of his dignity by being sealed in a bracelet where he is now just a phlogiston projection (unknown if done by himself or not because we know very little about his sealing in the first place. If he's CL-10, then he was most likely sealed in the bracelet by Ixquieh and Ahpub, because the Ring of Yaxche's description describes those two sealing CL-10 under a mountain. If he's CL-04 then that carries the possibility of it having been done by himself, intentionally or not, because of something to do with the Phlogistonization of Life that he was researching. I think it's most likely that someone else sealed him somehow, no matter which identity you follow him having) and now not allowed the dignity of being treated like the once important dragon he was in the past, or really even the dignity of being treated like a person

It's also a bit strange that Ajaw is often treated like he's stupid because, to quote Kinich's Character Story 5 again "However, Kinich is well-aware that Ajaw is all too intelligent, has an all-round awful personality, and poses an immense threat, and has thus rejected them without hesitation. He knows that Ajaw is, without a doubt, dangerous — arrogant, cunning, chaotic, and wicked."

Ajaw isn't an idiot. Especially if, like me, you believe that he's CL-04, who we know was doing research into "the Phlogistonization of Life"

but even without that, Kinich says himself that Ajaw is "all too intelligent" and "cunning"

Speaking of Ajaw possibly being CL-04, I want to go over why I think that he is and also touch on the possibility of him being CL-10.

So. the 13 sovereign lords. We know 2 who are possibly Ajaw's past identity, as they both have fitting personalities to what we see from Ajaw (though being arrogant and rude seems to be pretty standard for all of the dragonlords, the others seemed to mostly agree on CL-10 being particularly so, and CL-04 is described by CL-02 as "disdainful, decadent, decrepit" and also suggested to be "merely looking for an excuse to neglect his duties") and who we additionally do not currently know the canonical living status of (other than that one of them is dead, as there is only one of the thirteen still alive following Ixlel's death)

and yeah we technically aren't told about CL-13's death either but he's definitely not Ajaw so we can ignore him when theorizing.

Now the evidence pointing to Ajaw being CL-10, other than the obvious detail of personality, is that it's a known fact that CL-10 was buried under a mountain, as told by the narrative in the description of the Ring of Yaxche

Kinich's Character Story 5 (which I keep bringing up bc it centers around him & Ajaw) tells us that Ajaw was in a ruin that was unearthed by an earthquake ("All this goes back to an ancient dragon ruin that was rumored to contain a "secret draconic treasure." It was unearthed due to an earthquake, and before long, had attracted much attention.")

Additionally, "Undying Wings of Lofty Isolation" is a title that fits Ajaw rather well, all things considered.

But really all the evidence pointing to CL-10 Ajaw is the ruins and the personality. That's not to say that he can't be CL-10 or that I think the people who think that he is are stupid or obviously incorrect. Truthfully if I woke up tomorrow and it was confirmed without a doubt that Ajaw is CL-10 I'd just be like "huh guess my theory was wrong. Oh well, this is cool too" because it's really not that deep.

I simply believe that CL-10 is a red herring for Ajaw's identity.

One detail that makes me believe in CL-04 Ajaw is Ajaw's claim of having "a grand castle at the highest point in the nation" while CL-04 is described as having a "lonely citadel atop the high cliffs". It's a small detail, but when it comes to theories it's the small details that matter

There's also the name. Aj Awaj K'umilal Kan. Firstly, at one point I was yapping to my bestie about the CL-04 Ajaw theory, and she was like "wait isn't that basically confirmed" when it came to the names after I sent my screenshotted list of the 13 sovereign lords, so there's that detail. Secondly, apparently CL-04's name and Ajaw's name share certain Chinese characters.

There's also the Phlogistonization of Life thing and how that possibly has something to do with Ajaw's current state ("His true form has been sealed within an enigmatic engraved wristband, his current one being a mere projection via phlogiston.")

It doesn't really matter if Ajaw is CL-04 or CL-10 because in the end he's still the same as he is in current day Teyvat, but I personally find CL-04 Ajaw to be more interesting than CL-10 Ajaw.

But as I stated before, if I woke up tomorrow to confirmation that Ajaw is 100% without a doubt CL-10 I would not be particularly upset (other than the usual "aw sucks that I was wrong" feeling when your theory is confirmed incorrect) because at least it would be confirmation of Ajaw's identity. And people are free to believe whatever theories they want to believe in

this is already getting super long and I have to start getting ready for bed soon so here's some Ajaw-related headcanons I have

-Ajaw is touch starved as fuck but if you were to give him physical affection (or just affection in general) he would be mean about it and call you pathetic and clingy. He would say all of this while clinging to you like a koala attached to you with velcro (I have mentioned this HC before)

-Ajaw's deal with Kinich extended the latter's lifespan to match a dragon's. This means Kinich cannot die of old age and he also ages very slowly. I also HC that their deal gave Kinich some draconic traits, though they haven't become particularly visible yet because it hasn't been a super long time since they made their deal (the dragon traits are as a result of Kinich's body being modified to be able to handle Ajaw's powers in the first place, both to fulfill Ajaw's part of their deal and also because Ajaw doesn't want Kinich's body causing him problems when he inhabits it after his death). Kinich is currently unaware of the modifications to his body and lifespan.

-Against his will, Ajaw is actually rather fond of Kinich. He is bad at showing this though, due to a combination of his personality in general and also an unwillingness to admit fondness for a mortal, let alone a human (this HC can be interpreted as either platonic or romantic, as I do happen to ship Ajawnich but I also just like them as a duo)

-Torn between wishing that people still knew his name and being fine that his old name was forgotten. He's the Almighty Dragonlord, K'uhul Ajaw now, who cares who he used to be! (For all his boasting of that name, he misses the past. He misses his home. He misses all the people he knew and cared about that died either before his sealing or during the long time that he was in those ruins. Ajaw is haunted by a past that he cannot return to and that he alone is the only one left to remember. Ajaw is so very very lonely, and he just wanted to see the sun again)

-Absolutely needs therapy but would not cooperate in the slightest if you tried to give him therapy. He swears that he is perfectly fine mentally and that nothing about his past or his time in those ruins he was sealed in has caused any damage to his mental health. (He hates being left alone and being in small, enclosed spaces. He would literally rather die than admit this to anyone and will continue to suffer in... well not silence because he will complain about it loudly, but he will continue to suffer nonetheless)

-Would actually probably get along decently with Sigewinne if the two of them ever met. They definitely wouldn't be the best of friends, but their interactions would also not be mainly negative. They would both think that the other is strange and interesting, for different reasons. Ajaw wouldn't be able to handle the taste of the milkshakes she makes, though

-Being a phlogiston projection currently, Ajaw doesn't actually need to do things like eat or sleep, at least while he's still sealed in the wristband. He certainly didn't do much for eating during his time in the ruin, though he did do a lot of sleeping. Despite not needing food or rest, he happily indulges in them anyways. Whether this is greed or just the comfort of normalcy that he hasn't had in a long time is not exactly clear to most. Kinich is aware that Ajaw doesn't actually need to eat or sleep, but he usually will somewhat go along with it anyways (he's not getting Ajaw expensive or hard to find/make foods, obviously, but if Ajaw wants to eat then that's his own business)

Hello 🤗, I’ve kind been following your project for months now and I have to say I’m glad people are still acknowledging Egyptian Mythology. I know it doesn’t really have all the drama and pizzaz I suppose Greek or Roman mythos does which is why people like it more, however I find your work refreshing because it seems like you actually care about Egyptian Mythos. I’ve been obsessed with it for years and I’ve even done my own research over the years myself and could never fully understood why people didn’t care for it as much. Even after watching Hollywood Blockbuster films like “Gods of Egypt” the movie frustrated me in so many ways but the biggest one being that it felt like a knockoff of Clash of the Titans. So I’m done with my little rant but I was curious on what sparked your interest in making this project? How often are you taking creative liberties with your story? Also how do you come up with such creative designs for your characters will also keeping the historical consistency of Ancient Egypt?

Second of all, let me reply to all of your questions in order so I don't forget anything lol

Ok so, as for what sparked my interest in making this project, It all started with me playing a mythology-themed video game called Dislyte. I've always been into Egyptian Mythology since I can remember, but when I was a kid, things were a bit different from now and I didn't have access to the Internet as I have now as my father would set up a limited screen time for me and my sister on the computer, and also at that time, I just didn't know how to research things properly lol. So, nostalgia led me to explore new and old media about Egyptian mythology and do some proper academic research to get to know the main and minor myths better. During this "research phase" I discovered the Korean manhwa Ennead, which inspired me and my character designs a lot. Afterwards, as I realized how little material exists about this mythology in particular, I decided to create something myself that could help fill that gap, something that could bring people together and spark their interest so that I could have someone to talk to about Egyptian Mythology lmaooo. But also, I always wanted to work on an original comic series and so I thought that this could have been the best time to start! And so, House of the Sun was born!

Now, talking about artistic liberty, it really depends on the comic we're talking about. In Thoth's Library, I try to be as accurate as possible to the actual myths, only taking some artistic liberty when I need to link some facts that would otherwise sound a bit random and incohesive to the narration, adding some motivations and sub-plots to link all the stories together while trying to stay true to the original sources. Although, this might change in some future arcs. In Young Horus, although some connections are accurate, I decided to fill all the gaps I could with an original coming-of-age story for Horus the Younger to create something new and have fun with it, so the majority of the things happening in the comic are purely fictional. Of course, I always make sure to put a disclaimer for that in every episode just in case ahahah

As for the inspiration behind the character designs, I wanted to create something very personal and somewhat accurate in terms of clothing and overall presentation without including those classic elements we all know, like the animal heads or masks we often see in other media. I was especially inspired by something I noticed in Ancient Egyptian art, like the fact that some gods like Ra have both a human and animal form, and so I was like, you know what? I'm leaving the animal iconography to other contexts, I'm going full human this time lmao. Well, kind of, since I still wanted to include some animal traits that are very iconic to Egyptian art, like the tails (often used in classic Egyptian iconography to depict power and royalty), the ears and sometimes the paws too because, why not? 😂

Summary: You were one of the unfortunate arcanists who got involved to "The Dream Recorder" as a test subject. But despite all of the nightmares you often have, that becomes your primary goal to control the nightmares to your advantage.

You known Joshua ever since you were tagged with him for an group assignment. Despite that you are him are the same age he has more knowledge than you, but your own talents as a programmer and engineer you manage to assist him easily in the project.

Because of you, Joshua got the reward but you insist on letting him take the credit for himself without him replying. At the end of the day, you went to a comatose state to re-continue your dream recorder project thanks to the group assignment. Heck you were secretly the reason to mention the word philia he got his new nickname.

Months or a year has passed and you were still comatose trapped in the dream, and you just happen to find Vertin who was lost, but you who knows the way and just refused to wake up just to observe the dream for research guided Vertin to wake up safely. Because of that Vertin invited you and assign you to her team, unbeknownst to you, Horropedia is also in the team.

Sooner enough you and Horropedia were reunited.

He was happy to see you alive and well while you were surprised and pet him to find out that its never a dream. Because of Vertin reuniting you and Horropedia to each other, the two of you decided to cooperate in the dream recording project. Horropedia as the observe and viewer to your nightmares while you alone do the nightmare exploring. But that can only happen during the days while chaos was happening outside of the case.

But since you were still awake, you slowly getting burned out from the project, your body did get the sleep but the brain didn't get the proper rest. Because of that your mind is utterly exhausted, and with having no other options aside from the medicine refusal the "other" method of medicine is to go to a different company for a different healing aka going to your best friend Horropedia, the same person who helped and supported you just like what you did back then to him.

He was grateful to you and did manage to get your attention to him.

When he sees that you are not feeling well to do the project, Horropedia took notice of that and decided to invite you to watch horror movies with him. Of course you were confused as to why did he go so far as to pull you away from the project, and yet your thankful for him.

During the horror movie, you and Horropedia were watching one of the baddest horror movies, Horropedia made the funniest joke in a scene that was so obvious but funny. You were stunned and yet.

"Hahahahahahh!!!"

You were laughing as Horropedia laughs with you, what you lost for a very long time feels great to have it. And yet you face him smiling, "You really are precious, you know that?" Not knowing that you said it out loud, Horropedia stares at you stunned and yet he felt his face flush red.

"Thank you Joshua-I mean... Horropedia."

Before he had a chance to reply, leaning closer to kiss him on the cheek before getting up. And yet Horropedia pulled you closer to him for a tight hug.

"No....I should be thanking you, (y/n)."

It was awkward but you don't mind it, embracing him back feels like part of you is healing. Nightmares continues to follow you but at the end of the dream is relief, comfort of harsh life, and human connections.

At the end of that day, you unknowingly took a nap in his arms as he cuddles you during the continuation of the movie. Feeling a small nuzzle on your head during your sleep, it made you feel very thankful for him.

You had no horrible dreams or nightmares ever since that cuddled sleep.

I started Homestuck a few months ago, yes i began reading it for the first time in the year of our lord 2025.. And i've been scrolling thru a lot of HS posts lately, so of course i ended up discovering that John Egbert is apparently a trans woman ? I tried to do my own research but i literally don't understand, someone asked for this because of a tablerone? (for some reason), but what was the reason for that person asking? Did they just want a trans character for no reason? Doesn't that diminishes the point of representation if there's no real motive and sentiment behind it? I'm in act 5, and atleast where i am now, i've never read John that way, i swear i'm not trying to be transphobic, i really don't understand, i just hope that doesn't ruin his character, John is by far my favorite and i relate to him so much, i hope they can give a good reason a good development to that.

It's fine. Parts of Homestuck's controversies or events that happened within the fandom aren't documented or recorded compared to other fandoms. Most of it has been lost to time or purged with only archived links and screenshots surviving. Some had think John is trans because of one glitch that happens in a flash called Alterniabound where we can see John looking like Vriska. Note however, it's part of a glitch that is called TRICKSTER MODE only in Karkat's section.

Despite being just a resprite or joke of John looking like Vriska, people took it a bit seriously and want John to be a girl. But genderbend in an alternate universe and timeline is out of the question. They want the base webcomic John character they have seen in Act 1 to fully change himself. Some also interpret Dad forcing in toxic masculinity onto his child is the reason why John couldn't connect with Dad Egbert, forgetting that most of John's life, he was mostly BRAINWASHED by Gamzee's chuckle voodoo to like clowns. As well as fans portraying Dad, one of the good guardians left, as an evil person since all the other parents like Bro, Mom, and Grandpa, were all portrayed in some negative light. Bro being an abuser, Mom being alcoholic, and Grandpa having flings with other women prior in his life (with Hiveswap implying he had left his other kids behind) before settling down with just Jade. The person who had wished for it only wants that trans representation, just like others have before her. They don't really care about John as his own being from his arc and personality. They just want a label to feel good about themselves. Despite the wish having been made in 2019, it has yet to become real compared to other wishes like Vriska being trans happening in Pesterquest within the same year (Vol 6 Pesterquest feat. Vriska was released on October 30 2019). James Roach claims that John becoming trans has been planned all along prior to the wish on a Reddit AMA years later on December 2023 after James Roach and his team took over HS2, renaming it Homestuck Beyond Canon. Aysha, another member of WhatPumpkin under Andrew Hussie's team, claim June was also planned all along in a tweet years before Beyond Canon was a thing.

The latest and closest we get to see hint of June Egbert in recent times is only in a glimpses of flashing images after Vriska Serket became Helltier in Homestuck Beyond Canon, where John sees a flash image of himself as a woman aka June Egbert.

However, HS2 would then be revealed to be part of a money laundering scheme. Andrew Hussie fell into debt with Viz Media due to underperforming sales in Homestuck Epilogues. He basically lied to freelance writers and artists that he would make a new Homestuck project. And when that failed too, he gives it all to James Roach and resigns himself from any Homestuck related projects, including HIveswap, which was a Kickstarter game he had made years back that made 2 million dollars.
