The Asklepieion of Epidaurus, Greece

Epidaurus was a sacred healing place devoted to Asklepius, the god of medicine. An Asklepieion was the temple of Asklepius, where people would go with the hope to be cured. There were many such sanctuaries in Greece, but Epidaurus was especially famous and visited by people from all over Greece because this was a place where Asklepius was born, according to the myth. To find out the right treatment for them, people spent the night in a sleeping room and the god himself would come to their dreams and tell them what to do in order to be cured.

I want to ask why, but I know you don't have an answer either. It's alright love. I can't blame you. The years pass, and the ruin stays in your eyes, in mine, in my husband, in our sons. The Greeks make their way to our Scaian gates.

Real quick explanation time! Since Asclepius is an Argonaut alongside Nestor, a man who is still alive (though old) by the time of the Iliad, and Asclepius' sons fight in the Trojan War, is seems possible, if not likely, that Asclepius was killed within a decade of the start of the Trojan war. This means that Hector, who was middle aged by the war, had to have been born before Asclepius' death. If you follow the versions of the myth that call Hector Apollo's son, this means that Apollo had already been with Hecuba, and seeing as they had a second son, Troilus, after Asclepius' estimated death date, they were likely still close. How might Hecuba have felt when she heard the news? When Apollo was punished and she could not pray to him? When a man who was her children's half-brother was killed by the king of Olympus? Especially when at this point, multiple prophecies had been made that foretold her kingdom's destruction? Idk I think about her a lot and I think about them a lot and I think about Troy a lot, so I made this.

had to look up who he was, I wasn't familiar with him. But now that I am, here's the design

tried giving him a very friendly and chill aura. Like, you'll look at him and know everything's going to be ok. So he has round shapes, curves and a cute appearance to reflect on that.

his color palette is what I always had in my mind when I thought of the word medicine. So pastel, pale tones and fluorescent teal. Very reminiscent of hospital colors now that I think about it. Though I think he looks a little too pale here, so I might change some of the hues later.

In general I really liked how his design turned out. He looks very graceful, the pose flows really nicely (the snake helps a lot) and I'd trust my life to this man.

Hey, morning all, before I get ready for education- Peak lords as the greek gods (mainly the twelve olympians): - Shang Qinghua = Hermes - Liu Qingge = Ares - Shen Qingqiu = Athena - Wei Qingwei <3 = Hephaestus - Mu Qingfang = Asclepius (I would choose Apollo, but it doesn't vibe well enough for me - plus, Apollo is one of those shifty wide range gods) - Qi Qingqi = either Aphrodite or Hera (maybe Artemis but, despite popular belief spawned by PJO, the Hunters of Artemis was not purely limited to girls - take Orion for example) - Yue Qingyuan = now, even though he's like the head n shit, I don't think he'd be Zeus for...obvious reasons - let me introduce you to Themis, Greek goddess of justice (kind of like his peak n shit!) - Zui Xian Peak Lord = Dionysus (giggles and kicks my feet - that's right, catch me with the most violent form of autism - Making My Two Hyperfixations Kiss And Stuff)

If it's okay, may I request some art of Asclepius (Aesculapius? I've seen both names used) please? I'm a big fan of your designs for the Greek Gods, and I've been praying specifically to Asclepius in hopes of a quick recovery from a surgery I had about a month ago

My take on Asclepius is a mix between Hermes and Apollo, due to his association with those gods. I’m not exactly sure how he would look, but this is my first draft of him, following my typical trend of putting heavy cloaks on characters.

Perse: [to Apollo] Hey, sunshine! I’m back! ... [to Dionysus and Asclepsius] Hi, kids.

Dionysus & Asclepius: Hi, Mom.

Perse: [to Apollo] I’m sorry I’m late. There was a last-minute mission in Underworld, and I had to deal with some prophecy thing. The traffic down there was terrible...

Apollo: Give me a break.

Perse Athenide: Huh?

Apollo: Don’t ‘Huh?’ me! You waltz in here centuries late and expect sympathy? Huh!

Perse : Well, I didn’t know...

Apollo: [as he walks over to the table and serves ambrosia onto everyone's plates] I’ve been trying to keep the camp running smoothly, training the kids, and handling a bunch of rowdy demigods. I even missed my lyre practice! I took Dionysus to his wine-making lesson, and Asclepius to his healing clinic. Do you realize I’ve been juggling all of this so you could do your prophecy stuff? Huh?! Hmm-hmm-hmm?

Perse: Apollo, I’m sorry.

Apollo: ‘Sorry��? Hmph! ‘Sorry’! ‘Sorry’ doesn’t change the fact that my ambrosia is ruined! [showing it off] Ruined! It’s all dried out! But do you have the decency to call and let me know you’d disappear for centuries? NO! Well, I’m not a babysitter! ... Oh my gods, what’s happening to me? I’m turning into a housewife!

Perse: You’re a great father! Apollo, the first day is always the hardest. Hey, my bright star, this will cheer you up. I’ve got a perfect plan for Asclepius’s healing lessons. I talked to some of the best doctors, and in the next two weeks, we’re setting up a new hospital just for him.
