I just found out they’re statues where apollo appears more feminine and I’m automatically like
YASSS, WORK THAT DRESS, WORK IT, SHOW THE HATERS
LMAOOO 😂😂😂
Trueeee 🤣. You're so right and you should say it. I mean, look at THIS :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there are the other depictions reminding us that Apollo is, in fact, a man 😂 :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A man who always strikes the pose, but still a very manly man.
Seriously, look at some of his other depictions because some of them are really cool
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apollo giving us some concerts. Look at his nice lil' bun and toga on the first. And the second looks like he's actually playing his music on a decorated stage.
Tumblr media
This is my favorite. Look at this diva ! Riding his swan, ready to give Marsyas the worst defeat he has ever known.
Tumblr media
The whole Delian family looking fabulous (left to right : Leto, Artemis, Apollo, Asteria).
Here's another one of Leto and her twins being stylish :
Tumblr media
And while we're looking at Artemis :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How Artemis is often depicted : menacingly holding her bow and arrow
How Apollo is often depicted : strikes a pose with his lyre
I love both of them so much.
Another comparison that I already mentioned but still find funny is this one :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apollo looking way younger than his own son will never not be funny🤣🤣. Even when deified. Imagine, out of context, this middle-aged man pointing to that pretty boy posing with a lyre being like : "This is my father". Lol
Tumblr media
Why does Asclepius still look older than his father even without the beard 🤣🤣.
Also, the fact that Apollo was never portrayed with a beard despite the fact that other youthful deities like Hermes or Dionysus sometimes are, is remarkable. I'd say it's because he represents young men in general, whereas all the others mentioned don't.
To conclude : Apollo statues are a vibe and I want an adaptation depicting Apollo in any of these poses ASAP (especially the swan).

My headcanon is that each generation of Apollo's children has a literal copypaste of Apollo hanging around (two of three ended in disaster)

If it's okay, may I request some art of Asclepius (Aesculapius? I've seen both names used) please? I'm a big fan of your designs for the Greek Gods, and I've been praying specifically to Asclepius in hopes of a quick recovery from a surgery I had about a month ago
Tumblr media
My take on Asclepius is a mix between Hermes and Apollo, due to his association with those gods. I’m not exactly sure how he would look, but this is my first draft of him, following my typical trend of putting heavy cloaks on characters.
And I hope you have a good recovery! 💚

Hey, morning all, before I get ready for education- Peak lords as the greek gods (mainly the twelve olympians): - Shang Qinghua = Hermes - Liu Qingge = Ares - Shen Qingqiu = Athena - Wei Qingwei <3 = Hephaestus - Mu Qingfang = Asclepius (I would choose Apollo, but it doesn't vibe well enough for me - plus, Apollo is one of those shifty wide range gods) - Qi Qingqi = either Aphrodite or Hera (maybe Artemis but, despite popular belief spawned by PJO, the Hunters of Artemis was not purely limited to girls - take Orion for example) - Yue Qingyuan = now, even though he's like the head n shit, I don't think he'd be Zeus for...obvious reasons - let me introduce you to Themis, Greek goddess of justice (kind of like his peak n shit!) - Zui Xian Peak Lord = Dionysus (giggles and kicks my feet - that's right, catch me with the most violent form of autism - Making My Two Hyperfixations Kiss And Stuff)

On a quiet night, my lord, my love, you came with tears in your eyes, and told me your son had been slaughtered.
For hours you wept at my side, before sorrow turned to rage and innocents were brought to dust by your bloodied hands.
I held our child close as Olympus shook. I felt his breath, I heard his heartbeat. I held him and watched as the clouds filled with thunder. I imagined our child dead in my arms as your son had been, and it felt like the fates whispering in my ears.
I saw ruin in your eyes that night, love, and I saw it every night after. He was doomed from the start, wasn't he? And we were doomed as well. They'll storm our walls soon, as well. They'll tear us apart before your eyes, as well.
I want to ask why, but I know you don't have an answer either. It's alright love. I can't blame you. The years pass, and the ruin stays in your eyes, in mine, in my husband, in our sons. The Greeks make their way to our Scaian gates.
On a quiet night my lord, my love, I came with tears in my eyes, and told you our son had been slaughtered.
(explanation under the cut!)
Real quick explanation time! Since Asclepius is an Argonaut alongside Nestor, a man who is still alive (though old) by the time of the Iliad, and Asclepius' sons fight in the Trojan War, is seems possible, if not likely, that Asclepius was killed within a decade of the start of the Trojan war. This means that Hector, who was middle aged by the war, had to have been born before Asclepius' death. If you follow the versions of the myth that call Hector Apollo's son, this means that Apollo had already been with Hecuba, and seeing as they had a second son, Troilus, after Asclepius' estimated death date, they were likely still close. How might Hecuba have felt when she heard the news? When Apollo was punished and she could not pray to him? When a man who was her children's half-brother was killed by the king of Olympus? Especially when at this point, multiple prophecies had been made that foretold her kingdom's destruction? Idk I think about her a lot and I think about them a lot and I think about Troy a lot, so I made this.

Countdown to the Vengeance Saga: 3 DAYS
Fun Fact Time!!!!!
One of Hermes symbols is his caduceus, which is a staff with two serpents intwining it, with wings at the top. Often times this caduceus is mixed up with the rod of Asclepius (the Greek god of healing), which only has one snake!

Apollo/Lester would absolutely cup faces of his children/his loved ones into his so warm hands and kiss them in the forehead.
And Meg. She is his honorary little sister.
(Oh, and he would cup the ash that was left of Asclepius, his beautiful son with kind hands; and I am so sorry I didn't save you, I tried—, and put it near his heart, shaking in grief and despair).
(And Hyacinthus while he was bleeding out. Apollo would cup his face into his trembling hands that were stained with blood, weeping and murmuring over and over and his love would be fine - you will live— - and that everything is going to be okay.
And Apollo kissed him on the forehead, ignoring his love's glassy eyes.)
