Such a shame power of friendship didn't last long once he wears the Black Queen's Ring and becomes Bec Noir. Jack Noir mindless kills as he had no remorse killing Karkat's dream self.

Karkat himself seemed to already let his feelings about him go despite the shared moment of having the same red blood as he never brings up any conflicted issues on killing him by Act 6 and Post Retcon. Dude never even realizes he was still alive after [S] Collide. Candy Karkat probably isn't aware Jack Noir lived in Earth C and died immediately in [S] 8r8k. Meat Karkat having read it too, that means he was fine that Jack Noir would be killed in there and didn't feel a thing that he might still be around in Meat Timeline.

Jade has more of a connection to Jack than Karkat ever could. Sure it could because of Bec's love for Jade, but Jack Noir seems to have done a lot more as he had express sadness on her death that he would kill his own subordinate (Courtyard Droll) that killed her.

slick was so insane for this i need to get inside his head. like imagine meeting some weird alien kid with an inferiority complex and the second thing you do after stabbing him is cut open your own hand to show him that his blood color is nothing to be ashamed of and thus allowing him to begin his arc of self-acceptance. and then he imprints on you like a baby bird and you spend the next couple of months learning about the power of friendship together

"Grand metamorphosis"/"morphday" seems to be some equivalent of a birthday? But clearly not in the traditional sense considering they seem to number their "years" in a very different way (tidal turns?) Grand metamorphosis is also not given a number the same way egeberts birthday number is 13 or karkats is 6

Unsure of how the epitaphic hex works exactly (I literally don't know what it is or does?) (Why is it so slimy?) but here's the dictionary definition of an epitaph

"Ancient satyrical thermal weaponry" seems to sort of confirm that the name satyr is a joke on the word satire the same way the trolls were a joke about internet trolls. I also don't remember if it was the name of the nymph or the satyr species that was confirmed beforehand (was it both??) but if we did only have one confirmed before then this does also confirm the other one as correct too

"Upper organon" nymph biological term. Not very interesting but I know how the community goes crazy for alien terminology. Presumably equivalent of a heart but that's my guess?

"Epileptic scrawlcels" again, not very interesting, just cartoons, but also again, it's nice to know the alien terminology. It does also seem even there cartoon is the more common word and Ly'lac is just being kinda pretentious which honestly mecore

"Writhe like a flagellum and puke in your shell" (note this is written in terezi's quirk I just couldn't be bothered) OK apparently a flagellum is is a thing on tiny stuff like bacteria and other microorganisms to help them move. OR specifically *swim*, which could be potentially relevant to this waterbased species. That's not important I don't think I just like to know stuff

ok ive been combing thru the various homestuck tags since reading the upd8 and i have seen no one really talk about rose. which, given everything else is kind of fair. like look karkat and vriska being the most competent people in the room. june egg cracking.

but im so so so interested in what rose has going on. she's a seer of light. she saw everything that was going to play out. it was going to go right for the revolution. she wasn't going to have to receive consequences for her shitty actions (yeah yeah jade is culpable in some way too, but we're focusing on rose here).

and vriska, another light player, steals it from her. she takes the information rose saw and literally does not give a fuck, and yet again makes her own luck out of everyone elses.

and the way this breaks rose

ohhh my god. i genuinely don't think rose has had anything contradict her seer vision the entire 20ish years of candy. which would explain why she's losing her shit so much.

this is why i think light as an aspect has way a bit more to do with luck than information. rose was seeing what would be her luckiest timeline to escape consequence. she knew kanaya would have to forgive her because she saw it, so it'll be so.

and all of what she knows is now broken.

imagine you're able to know everything that will happen before it happens, and there's only one person who could possibly change it, but she's been gone so long you don't even register her as someone who could disrupt what you see. and for rose this has all come crashing down immediately, at one of the most tumultuous parts of her life post-game.

she doesn't see the future anymore. maybe she never did. one of the main things rose finds comfort in, at least in candy, is that she's in control of her situation. she knows whats happening at near all times. and vriska gives her a true reality check by taking her luck.

so she breaks, has a panic attack. kanaya hasn't forgiven her (presumably), she's not in a bullet induced coma or dead. her mental break isnt coming from just having to face her consequences, its coming from a complete upset of everything she thought she knew
