I know that the whole "Dirk is transphobic" thing is played as a joke, but it is unironically going to be his downfall.

Or more exactly, the fact that he didn't see it coming will be.

Dirk being taken off guard by Roxy being non-binary and then transmasc is played as a joke (because it is funny he's such a loser lmao) but it is also foreshadowing. He mentions how he cannot look into Roxy's mind or control their thoughts, but then the joke plays, almost distracting you from the Chekhov's gun he just mentioned.

It's almost clever in a way. He has to let you know why he can't see into Roxy's mind, he has to be perfect, he has to let you know that it's not his fault, but he also doesn't want to let the reader (or anyone) realise that Roxy not being readable or controllable is one of if not his only weakness. So by making it into a joke, oh look how silly he couldn't see that they were non-binary what a loser, he's downplaying how much of a risk to him Roxy is. I'd wager that he already knew they were non-binary. Roxy and Calliope have clearly already talked about it. I think he's giving us the inch (seeing him slip up) so we can't take the mile (realise his Achilles heel).

I honest to god think that what is going to be Dirk's downfall, in part, are June and Rox, the trans duo, June with her Retcon powers, breath aspect representing freedom, and her "we have to kill Dirk" attitude, and Roxy with his void aspect protection and t-boy swag (look I wanted to make this a rule of 3 thing but really the only thing he's got going for him is the void protection. I guess they are going after Dirk and all but still, Dirk is Roxy's friend idk how quickly Roxy's gonna stab him in the back justified or no. This is famous centrist Roxy Lalonde after all)

He's gonna be blown to smithereens by two trannies and it's gonna be awesome <3
