i think finally directly head-on tackling the concept of Vriska Serket as an abused, neglected child in incredibly direct ways is 1) the ballsiest thing Beyond Canon has done yet and 2) the single most important thing it could possibly have done

the conversation with Nannasprite is very clearly setting up the idea that Revenge Doesn't Make You Feel Better; in fact, Revenge Often Makes You Feel Worse. Nannasprite talking about being much more content with raising a child and loving than seeking revenge on the Condesce (and implying that Candy Jane's issues in no small part stem from her still wanting some kind of comeuppance for her own pain) really sets that up in a clever way.

and then the fucking conversation with Momfang. holy shit. this entire exchange is like. top-three scenes in the whole comic. up there with Dave and Dirk on the meteor or the money shot in [S] GAME OVER. Vriska gradually coming to the realization that nothing she can say or do will change what happened, and that moving on is the only way forward. fuck. fuck.

it's so poignant and powerful and earnest and just. god damn. easily the best HS:BC's been yet, completely justifies Therapy Hell's inclusion and nullifies my concerns about it being a pace-killer. and i for one welcome our eventual 30-something Vriska Serket sprites. i need someone to rip the newest ones so i can make all my profile pictures Vriska "L8erally Me To Every Self-Destructive Tgirl With Mommy Issues" Serket NOW

I understand that Beyond Canon's present schedule disruption is almost certainly due simply to its authors not realising how much work the latest batch of interactives would be, but imagine if it develops into an indefinite hiatus, and the whole goofy saga of the Homestuck media franchise lurches to a close with Vriska still stuck in Hell.
