My dietitian appointment today was super interesting.

We talked about how to show our previous bodies/body shapes love and respect. Because I sure as hell did not respect or love my body from 5-10 years ago. I despised it.

And what’s funny? I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and the most disabled I’ve ever been, but this is also the most I’ve loved and respected my body.

But my previous body didn’t deserve the hatred and loathing that it got from me. So how do I heal from that? How do I work on that?

We didn’t come up with a completely conclusive answer, but talking about it was incredibly interesting.

I love my job in that it supports me while I write and create and that working with kids is super rewarding and I’m genuinely grateful to have it.

But GOD my body dysmorphia/negative self image is NOT helped in that the clothing nannying requires means I look like a sloppy dog’s dinner on a good day. I know it’s part of child care but dammit I hate catching a glimpse of my reflection and hating how I look, from the shape of my body to what I have to wear. It blows.
