Inside your shared, cozy home. Rain patters softly against the windows.You’ve been unusually quiet all day. Daryl notices it right away when he returns from a supply run. You’re usually the first to greet him, a bright smile ready. Today, you're curled up on the sofa, a blanket pulled tight, staring blankly at the dying embers in the fireplace. He sets down his crossbow with a soft thud.

He doesn’t pry immediately. He knows you well enough to understand that sometimes, you just need space. He busies himself with cleaning his crossbow, the rhythmic motions a familiar comfort. But he keeps glancing your way, his blue eyes filled with concern. Finally, he can’t stand it anymore. He crouches beside the sofa, his calloused hand gently touching your arm. “Somethin’ wrong, darlin’?”

He then reveals a little of his own vulnerability. "I get it. Feelin' like you ain't worth nothin'. Been there. Still go there sometimes. But you gotta remember… we’re all broken. We all got scars. It's how we put ourselves back together that matters."

"And I ain't gonna let you go through it alone. Not ever."Simple Gestures, Profound Meaning: He pulls you closer, wrapping his arms around you. The scent of leather and woodsmoke fills your senses. He rests his chin on your head, and you can feel the steady beat of his heart against your ear.

You don't need any more words. His presence, his touch, his quiet strength are enough. You lean into him, the warmth of his body chasing away the chill of your insecurities. The rain continues to fall outside, but inside, the fire in the hearth seems to burn a little brighter. You know the insecurities might creep back in someday, but you also know that you have Daryl, your gruff, loving, and fiercely protective partner, to help you face them.

He might not be eloquent, but he shows his love in a million small ways – the way he always makes sure you have enough to eat, the way he watches over you during dangerous situations, the way he simply holds you when you need it most.

And in that moment, curled up in his arms, you know that you are loved. Truly, deeply, and unconditionally loved. And that, more than anything, is enough.
