It's been a minute so correct me if I'm wrong but has there been any canon description of what 'immortal' means? Like, Blitz calls Stolas that in a way that implies he (Blitz) is not. This is expanded upon with how Blitz (and other imps, hellbound, succubus, etc.) Can get hurt/killed with normal weapons (except human world fire) but it takes blessed weapons to hurt Stolas (and other Goetia).
But have we seen elderly imps?
The questions I pose are:
What if 'immortal' refers more to how easy they are to kill and not their lifespan?
Follow up: what if imps/other "lesser" hellborn would potentially live indefinitely so long as they didn't get shot or poisoned or whatever?
Also a follow up: What if imps/other "lesser" hellborn just live longer than the average human lifespan? They're in hell, why must we assume their standard lifespan is the same as ours?
Related: Why do Goetia get to be "immortal"? It can be stripped away by Satan as a punishment (assuming that is part of Stolas's punishment asit seems to be), so could it be bestowed in a similar fashion?
My thesis: We need to stop worrying about Stolas living a lot longer than Blitz because there are a lot of potential work-arounds and loopholes that have different, but related, trauma potentials.
Wouldn't it be funny if they other married and Stolas started sending his husband to work in bubble wrap?
#stolitz#speculation is speculation#and baby am i speculating#ive considered that a while just “what if immortal in this context just means immune to injury?”

Interesting that the Doctor says his adopted family is the reason he uses a title. Except thats not quite true is it?
Sure they are stuffy aristocrats who love ranks and titles but Tecteun, Rassilon, Borusa, Romana, Pandad, Andred, Rodan, Darkel, Flavia, and practically every other non-renegade timelord (and even some renegades like Drax) still use regular (if not human) names.
But you know who does often use titles? THE GODS. Those from before or beyond the universe's constraints. The Toymaker, The Guardians, The Maestro, The Trickster, The The Beast, The One Who Waits, The Gods of Ragnarok, The Entity, etc. Even those with 'names' often have descriptive ones like Time or Swarm.
Is it really the Doctor's adopted family that made them identify with titles? Or is it perhaps traces of their 'birth family' peaking through?
More than anything I just want to know if RTD is going anywhere with this. Did he just need a quick way to get new audiences on board with calling the main character the Doctor? Or does it mean something.
#this is not particularly researched btw i am just grasping at straws because rtd BESTIE what are you on about with this#i am on board with eldritch horror doctor tho :)#doctor who#dw spoilers#spoilers#dr who#season 14#series 14#fifteenth doctor#15th doctor#dw meta#dw speculation#the timeless child#timelords#space babies#also the doctor started of the renegade title game by calling themself the other. i said what i said

I know you don't like discussing the muses but i love your takes and perspectives and i had to ask you about this. after listening to ttpd, did you have the impression that she really loved matty more than any of her exes/previous relationships?. And listening to the whole album as a whole would you call it the ''matty album'' or do you think there are more prominent themes in there than their period together?. (hope this doesn't bother you, feel free to delete if you don't feel like answering it)
hey anon! You're right, I don't really like to get into the muses as I don't really think there's anything to add to the conversation at this point, and ultimately I don't think it matters.
That being said, and with the caveat that I am not Taylor and I do not know Taylor so I cannot speak to her thoughts and can only make relatively educated guesses based on being an avid consumer of her work and a student of the human condition (lol), no I do not think Taylor loved Matty more than anyone else. I think there was maybe a brief period in the thick of things where she *thought* she did because she was not thinking clearly and was in full-on denial, but to me the message that is loud and clear in the album (and more or less explicitly stated in the epilogue) is that it was not any kind of real love affair. It was certainly infatuation and lust and the promise of something more, and there may have been some love as well, but he was in no way the love of her life by any measure.
I would call it a "Matty album" insofar as they're about events in which he was present, sure. But I feel it much more as a Taylor album, if that makes sense, even though I know that's a cop out because every album is to a degree. I can't explain it well, but I don't see TTPD as a Matty (or Joe) album in the way that I would maybe say Red is a "Jake" album or 1989 may be a "Harry" album or even Lover being a "Joe" album whatever, because even if they don't figure in all the songs, that kind of heartbreak permeates so much of the material.
The thing about TTPD and the Matty situation is that the Matty situation is really a Joe situation (which in some ways is actually partially a Jake situation). I always say I hate treating Taylor like a character so I hate speaking about her and her work in this way, but you don't get the Matty situation without the Joe situation precipitating it. It's @taylortruther's now-infamous donut vs. hole analogy. The reason Taylor makes the choices she does with Matty is directly tied to what happened with Joe that made her feel she needed to. Which is not to say Taylor isn't responsible for her own actions or doesn't have agency in her own life, but I mean it in that the situation in which she found herself with Joe, and the pain it caused, is what made the alternative so comforting and perhaps even necessary in her mind. It's why it makes it so hard to "paternity test" the album, because the stories are inherently intertwined and you don't get the former without the latter.
The major "theme" of the album to me is the loss of a very specific, very personal dream, and the way in which she lost it, and the way in which grieving that loss drove her to make the choices she did. We're all talking very delicately about it because it's a sensitive topic, but it's late on Friday and few people are going to see this, so I'm going to say it: it's the give you my wild, give you a child of it all. The yearning she expresses both overtly and sub-textually for having a family in the album is palpable in a very iykyk kind of way, and it's the realization that those plans are not going to come to fruition in the way she had once imagined that drives a lot of the pain she experiences, and makes her jump at the chance to find that again with someone else.
I started a draft post about the theme of womanhood and motherhood on TTPD three months ago that I never finished because I ran out of time and ran out of steam, but it was the most striking thing to me on the album, not because I didn't know that she wanted those things because that's been obvious for years (definitely since Lover, and again, peace put it all on the table), but because the vulnerability she expressed about it on the album is incredibly moving, and it's so generous of her to trust listeners with those feelings and experiences.
Again, it's the thirtysomething of it all.
She is in relationship A which she at one point believes is forever, one which she at one point believes is going to lead to marriage and children. She is so committed to that dream that she either ignores or tries to fix serious issues that may otherwise lead others to think the two people in the relationship are incompatible, both because she loves the person deeply and because she feels that this is meant to be the way she achieves that dream. She gives it her everything, and it still dies a slow, painful, onerous death, and she feels like it may take her along with it. The dream of getting married and presumably having a family gets taken off the table: how we don't know and will likely never know because that is private between the parties involved. All that matters in the context of the album is that those plans never come to fruition and never would.
Then you have relationship B, an old flame who knows just enough buttons to push both to trigger and to flatter. A person who she presumably trusts with very sensitive, personal information as her life slowly crumbles, and this person is telling her all the things she wants to hear because he knows about what is happening in relationship A because she's told him. Person in relationship B doesn't get an "in" with her and sell her this dream unless what happens in relationship A precedes it. It's not a grand love affair for the ages, it's not a mutual decision on building their own dream together. It's Person B learning about what is happening with Person A and saying "I can do that!" even if he can't or doesn't. The dream he sells her is a rental car; it's not his own, he's just borrowing it from someone else and selling it back to her.
And the reason she falls for it is because it is what she aches for the most in her personal life, and she is grappling with it disintegrating, so she (unfortunately for her) falls for the easy way out, and in turn sells herself a story about how this must be fated, and this must be meant to be, because this person wants all the same things she does and she didn't even have to bargain for it! Well, yes, because she fed him the dream in the first place. (Like a mark falling for a sleeper cell spy.) It's too good to be true because it isn't true. IMO Person B doesn't come running out of the gate with the marriage/baby/dream life promises unless he knows that is what she most desires. But what's left unsaid out of all of it is that: those dreams were her dreams because they were her dreams with Person A. It was a whole life they had together, and a whole life they had planned for in some fashion, and a whole life that has to be dismantled in the aftermath.
So all this to say, yes, on the surface, Matty is a "main character" on the album, but truly he's a side character to Taylor as the narrator and person experiencing it and Joe as the ghost bit-player-who-haunts-every-scene. (Again, I hate referring to real people as characters, it gives me the absolute ick, but in this case it's the only way to answer the question.) I jokingly call it the Matty album for shorthand or when I want to say something out of pocket, but really, it's a disservice to the album to say that because it's not a muse album as in it's about the romance (like, say, Red often is), it's about a soul-crushing heartbreak that goes beyond it. The romance is the symptom, not the cause.
The loss of youth is tied in with all this: she's not 22 anymore. She isn't even 32 anymore. She had a very specific idea of what her life was going to look like at this point and had planned for that life, and it goes up in smoke. But again, to bring the womanhood into it all: there is, unfortunately, a deadline for these things. You're with someone for over half a decade you think is going to be your life partner and father of your children and and then he's not. You spent half a decade building this relationship for it to crumble, but now you're in your mid-30s and you don't necessarily have another half-decade to build that trust and faith in someone else before being ready to start a family. And maybe you're scared that anyone else who may become your partner will need that much time to build that trust and faith, because that's kind of all you've ever know in relationships. But lo and behold, someone comes into your life you once had feelings for and maybe now do again and is offering you everything you want and thought you'd have by this point in your life right now. It feels like an elixir that as we find out is actually poison.
That youth is not just the chance for motherhood, but it's also the hopes and idealism and belief in the future that often gradually erodes as we age. But for Taylor as well, it's also tied into the trauma of what she went through particularly in 2016, which kicks off a lot of things on the album as well (her retreat, her relationship with Joe, the pivoting in her career, etc.). That event caused a pretty clear before/after in her life (like a few other events, I suspect), and another major theme in the album is her finally grappling with the full weight of that. They're all different branches of the same tree of the story of TTPD and her life.
I could talk about this stuff forever, but I'm going to stop here because it's long enough and I should save stuff for one of the dozens of drafts I have half-baked lol. But this is just something I needed to get off my chest perhaps.
#Anonymous#the tortured poets department#again I am trying to be very sensitive in this#and am trying not to project or speculate too much on main#which is why I'm... cutting it off here#but it's just... there are very specific Things in TTPD and Things in general that you can pick up on in the last few albums#and we don't talk about them in public for good reason#but I think it's also sad that we can't speak generally about these very common experiences for women#because as I've said before I have SEVERAL friends who have gone through similar situations in their 30s#it's just-- all our friends smell like weed or little babies idk#it's tied in to society and expectations and pressures and desires and conflicting signals and--#ANYWAY#writing letters addressed to the fire#Pouring out my heart to a stranger but I didn't pour the whiskey#cause I know that it's delicate#<- new tag for ~sensitive~ things if I can remember to use it

I want all the sizzy as girl parents content (also a oops baby later in life that turns out to be a boy)
SIZZY OOPS BABY IS SOOOOOO REAL AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH, omggg
Okay, okay- for there family I kind of imagine Izzy wanting something similar with her brothers. So I can see her (personally) having four kids.
I always imagine the first set to be twin girls, which is 100% surprising to both Simon & Izzy. And than I can see them having another baby (aka girl number 3) and being like, okay this is enough. And than, a couple years later- Izzy pulls a Maryse&Max and has another little baby!! To both her and Simon’s surprise, and it’s a little boy!!!!
Btw Simon lewis is THE girl dad, and all the girls unite to make fun of him (endearingly) 💓💓

It just now occurred to me that Turbo had to have learned the Konami code before the Roadblasters incident.
Remember there's a 10-year gap where he was in hiding, (sugar rush was plugged in the year 1997) so how could he get the code and the napkin while being in hiding?
The point I'm getting at is, why would he write it down? His game was still popular.
In the flashback, Felix said, "Back when the arcade first opened, Turbotime, was by far the most popular game."
So what motivation could he possibly have to write it down prior to the Roadblasters incident?
Edit: now that I think about it, he could've got the napkin as litter when he was in hiding and wrote it down when learning. (But I like my conspiracy I mean speculation better)
Another question is how did he get it? Did someone willingly tell him? Or did he just happen to overhear it and just grabbed the nearest napkin to write it down on?
Hypothetically, if he got it from someone else, who was it?
No video game character in their RIGHT MIND would give out that kind of information! They're too scared to go against the program/change code which will cause a game to get unplugged.
Am I just slow to realize this? (Ok maybe) Or am I onto something here?! (Probably)
IDK which is which now, the brainrot is real.

okay, so @dangerpronebuddie made this post about the still of Eddie holding the door and that triggered some thoughts because buddie has this aspect of doors, and Buck's relationships as a whole, but like, they open the door for each other post-disaster, Buck opening the door after the tsunami, Buck opening the door for Eddie after the shooting, Buck opening the front door to the Diaz' house and breaking the door to Eddie's room after the breakdown, Eddie opening the door for Buck after the lighting.
BUT holding the door for themselves is the question here, Eddie closes the door for himself leaving the loft after the tsunami but that leads to the lawsuit, and Buck holds the door during the dinner in outside looking in, and that leads to the breakdown of it all.
My point is that they don't usually show them interacting with the doors unless Something™️ is happening/about to happen, sure there's the talk after the date with Ana and Eddie coming Back from therapy, but I would argue the start of the construction on sunset theory and the start of Eddie opening up to Buck in a way that Buck figures out how to help him are Something™️. But even then, the door is not an element of the scene, it's just a way to show Eddie is coming home and Buck is already there.
Because we see them inside the loft and the house a lot without the door, they're just dropped inside, usual tv show magic, there's no point in showing them coming in or out if they're not making a point.
But the door is very much an element of the scene here. And the door being an element of the scene means trouble.
And them opening the door for themselves???????? I don't like it. I am stressed. I am SO stressed.

Upon looking it up, the name of the podcast, Woebegone, is a word on its own to mean basically "to be filled with woe". However, my initial interpretation was that the podcast's name was Woe Be Gone, which I took as an interpretation of "to remove or be rid of ones woes".
I'm very curious to see if this play on words means anything, maybe foreshadowing the purpose behind the game? Or if I just don't have an extensive vocabulary lmao
After the first episode, this seemed like it might have been the case: you do something that is distressing to ultimately reverse a largely distressing scenario. The game giveth woe but also taketh away
But now that I'm on episode 8 this feels less like the case, so unless something Very Big is happening behind the scenes, my initial theory is up in the air
#in speculating knowing FULL WELL that there are 160 other episodes i havent listened to#and all the wbg people seeing this are probably like “yayyy babys first theory” while Other More Important Shit is going on#so anyways! uhhh who knows! im bad at this speculation thing#woe.begone#pleasr no spoilers i am going into this as blind as can be#alloe speaks

the emperor is clearly setting up fan xian to take over the country but not, i think, as next emperor...i think he's hoping that the next "phase" of societal development will be kicked off by fan xian. like, the monarchy will be abolished and fan xian will be in charge. he thinks monarchy is stupid and the only person he trusts to abolish it right is the guy whose consciousness is a partial copy of his own. why else would he be assisting fan xian in consolidating power (or rather, sort of forcing power onto fan xian from all sides, even though all fan xian wants to do is live a carefree life and not have anyone trying to kill him) while at the same time allowing fan xian's gross breaches of etiquette and respect toward the emperor, and not only allowing them but bringing attention to them in front of everyone and being like, aw, you kooky guy, not kneeling to me. you're so funny. live your truth. like that's actually insane?? bixia i am obsessed with you.
#joy of life#i can't stop thinking about the emperor he is consuming me...who is he...what is he doing...#sadly i no longer think it's possible for him to be fan xian's mom :( but i am embracing the possibilities inherent in the other major#contender for his identity...that he's fan xian (or rather that fan xian is him in some way)#my posts#jol emperor#i also want to know what is up with all of fx's daddy figures. he's got: his actual dad; his FIL; chen pingping who was in love#with his mom; the emperor; his laoshi; and wu zhu shu#wu zhu and chen pingping's utter devotion to him makes sense because they were devoted to his mom#laoshi helped to raise him so obviously they're close. but who really sent him? was it dad fan? was it chen pingping?#his FIL supports him because he lost his heir and needs a new one and fan xian is nice to his other kids#(speculation) bixia has his back because the emperor created him in a lab for the express purpose of abolishing the monarchy#and also like. general egotistical reasons bc they're kind of the same person (or at least that's how the emperor would see it)#so really it comes down to his actual dad. what is the deal with that guy#was he ever actually with fan xian's mom? was he a sperm donor. why does he treat fan xian with so much respect#he was close buddies with chen pingping right? when did chen pingping become paralyzed? can he have children?#was the original plan for chen pingping and fan xian's mom to have a baby implanted with bixia's consciousness#but chen pingping was paralyzed and his bff fan-xiong stepped in to provide the dna?#or is dad not biologically fx's dad but for political reasons they all agreed that he would be fx's dad?#like who all is in on this and what is the agreement they actually have#and does FIL know anything about it or is he just there like. i'm just happy to have a SIL <3

So I found this on Google, and I accidentally ended up having a megabrainstorm session with my dad about if Vulcans were actually photosynthetic, or really just how photosynthetic humanoids would work in general and how they'd function on a Starfleet ship? It was more like me ranting excitedly at my dad for a few minutes, but there were some cool ideas in there. (I mean I think they're cool, hopefully you guys do too)
Warning: EXTREMELY long (and nerdy) bullet point list follows under the cut
green skin because chlorophyll
possibly even leafy skin, which might end up looking more like scales, but with patches of softer more leaf-like areas where we'd have more body fat and/or body hair
(they can still have that Vulcan hair though, since it's sort of a defining trait/style of the species in Star trek)
This means they have to absorb sunlight through their skin, and convert it into energy in the form of glucose, like trees
Therefore they'd have to have glucose (not copper) based blood (but the melting point of sugar is really high? Hadn't quite worked that part out)
Their blood would be white then? Amber, like tree sap. Wait actually don't some flowers/green stemmed things have white sap in the stems? (Maybe their blood would change from white to amber as they age? I know flowers aren't younger versions of trees, but it would be cool)
and they'd have to drink water just as much as humans because plants need water (as Chekhov is panicking about) but maybe since Chekhov is worried about "watering" spock, their hair can function like roots or something to soak up extra water as well. Idk if it rains much on Vulcan but when it did they'd all be going outside like the worms do on Earth lol
They wouldn't really have to eat if sunlight is their primary energy source. Their mouth would be just for water, breathing, and speaking. In which case they'd have ALL different organ systems, seeing as our digestive system takes up a good chunk of space in the torso, what would they fill it with? Being humanoid, they'd still need lungs, as well as a heart to circulate the (glucose based?) blood. They can still have a liver as a toxin filter and whatever else livers do (trees have to deal with not-so-clean water, so the photosynthetic Vulcans could probably deal with pretty muddy/questionable water as well. And maybe that connects to a very basic digestive system (liver-filters > short and singular intestine > rectum) which is mostly just for getting rid of the mud (yes, pooping.) And the liver can also deal with dusty/sandy air probably. Oh they might not need to eat (maybe even CAN'T eat since they wouldn't need or have the organs to deal with it) but they could drink liquids other than water, and it might be helpful/necessary to drink sugary fruit drinks if it's been cloudy for a few days, because humanoids expend a LOT more energy than plants probably do. They probably have a "stomach" which acts as a storage and distribution-into-bloodstream area for water and sugar, a little like how a camel's hump works, so it might not only be "OMG did anyone water Spock today!?" But also "OMG Spock fainted, somebody get him fruit juice!" *frantic running to the mess hall* *20 ccs of sugar* "I told you to drink more sugary stuff, our artificial light here just can't give you as much energy as your THREE ENTIRE SUNS back home, you ****ing idiotic hobgoblin!" *definitely not crying over Spock's wellbeing*
Idk what would make up the rest of their torso since they don't need as much space for organs. Heart, lungs, liver, one intestine + waste management, storage stomach, and the rest of ours is primarily taken over by about 15 feet of scrunched intestines, so maybe for them it's all leg, or they could maybe have a redundant extra pair of lungs, and/or another heart, especially to lessen the workload since tree sap is significantly thicker than human blood? Or maybe all the water would thin it out? Or one heart is more connected to the skin where they absorb light energy and cycles the glucose-based blood (which goes from white to amber as they grow up) and the other heart connects more to the water/fruit juice storage stomach and cycles water as well as somehow sends old water off to get peed out? And they should also have an organ that somehow counters sunburn and helps then deal with their world's elevated levels of radiation.
So: two pairs of lungs (for no real reason), two hearts (and two circulatory systems?), one for water and one that's more for the nutrients of glucose from sunlight, a storage stomach, a liver, an organ that deals with radiation and sunburn, a short intestine for the undrinkable parts of potentially muddy/contaminated water, the rectum to poop out the mud, the kidneys/bladder/urinary system for old water, and I think that's it.
I've been occasionally researching (googling) during the process of writing this, and I found that trees actually do have 2 different kinds of sap! Phloem is the "more nutrient rich form, and flows from the leaves bringing sugars and hormones to nutrient-hungry parts of the plant," while Xylem "consists mostly of water" so it's perfectly reasonable for them to have 2 hearts, one for each kind!
But how can we design starships to be more Vulcan-friendly then, if they need so much light? Well first of all, having sugar as an option for hyposprays in the medbay/sickbay, as well as plenty of sugary drinks available in the replicators, and the sugary fruit drinks shouldn't "cost" as much in rations since the Vulcans sort of need it as much as they need water when they aren't able to access direct sunlight. Speaking of which, all the hallways should have strips of light off to the side (one on the floor and another shining down from the ceiling above it) that the Vulcan crewmembers can walk through, and there should be a solarium room which does its best to replicate at least the lighting and radiation conditions of Vulcan (the planet). This solarium should have the light panels be able to slide away to reveal actual windows, and starships with any Vulcans in their crew should be required to spend a minimum amount of time every so often in orbit of an actual sun or star system so that the Vulcans can have genuine sunlight. It would be really funny if Spock just had a spotlight that follows him around like Olaf's snow cloud in Frozen, but it would be more practical if his station on the bridge just had extra light panels which are positioned in some way so as not to shine in his eyes. Also, this photosynthesis sort of depends on their skin actually being exposed to light, so the uniform would probably be modified for Vulcans to be short sleeves and shorts despite how weird that would be, or it would be designed like tinted glass somehow, or... some other way of letting the light in without being immodest, idk
And now for a very important question: some trees are deciduous, yes? Oh dang it I just googled whether Vulcan has seasons and the answer was no. Scrolling down pointed out that Vulcan is a desert planet and so they'd naturally be able to go without water for longer periods of time than humans. That second one is okay, that's why they have a water storage organ sort of like camels, and I guess maybe they wouldn't need so much water after all. More like cacti than trees. But the no axis tilt / no seasons thing sort of cancels out what I was about to write :(
I'll write it anyway. Let's pretend for a second that Vulcan has seasons, because this whole thing can really apply to "photosynthetic humanoids" in general, not just photosynthetic Vulcans in particular. So, I was about to talk about deciduous trees :) When the seasons shift towards winter, the sunlight is weaker, trees go red before losing their leaves and sort of hibernating, right? Well what if Vulcans start going pale, then yellowy, and eventually taking on a pale reddish hue, and since they can't lose their skin to conserve energy, they consume as much sugar/fruit juice as they can over a period of a few weeks, before going into hibernation like bears?
This means that your Vulcan crewmate is kind of useless for at least a quarter of every year, which isn't really a problem unless they're a senior officer, but if they ARE a senior officer, they better have an apprentice or someone who can cover for them while they hibernate. Maybe another Vulcan from the opposite side of the planet, who would naturally hibernate during the opposite half of the year.
Would this Vulcan and their opposite-side-of-the-planet counterpart be best friends, or bitter rivals? Who knows!
Now, starships do not actually have seasons, so the hibernation cycle wouldn't be technically necessary. The Vulcan has two options: either slowly adjust to the year-round availability of sunlight over a period of multiple years so that they don't have to abandon their crew for a few months out of every year (and be SEVERELY messed up if they ever retire and go back to the hypothetical version of Vulcan which has seasons), OR, make sure that the availability of light mimics the seasonal cycle of pretend-Vulcan-with-seasons so that they can have their hibernation cycle properly. (Clearly the better option if they aren't a senior officer, especially if they don't plan to spend the rest of their life on the ship.)
Also it would be really cute to see what kind of pillow fort nest Spock would probably end up making in his quarters to hibernate in. I wonder if they'd visit him.
DO NOT WAKE THE HIBERNATING SPOCK. Google says waking up an animal from hibernation too early can have fatal consequences. On the other hand, it also said bears can wake themselves up immediately to protect cubs if necessary or if they're startled awake, so maybe he can respond to red alerts. However going based off the first point, it might be necessary to completely soundproof his quarters and make sure he remains undisturbed. And yet another possibility is that photosynthetic Vulcans wouldn't need to hibernate at all if they come from a part of the planet which is mostly friendly year-round (which would technically be true, since it doesn't actually have seasons at all, and they would choose to have civilizations in the most habitable areas. Maybe civilizations closer to the poles would have Vulcans that are naturally paler or more reddish, like how the Aenar on the Andorian homeworld are blind and paler.)
Animals coming out of hibernation can have lost up to 30% of their body weight (over a QUARTER), so Vulcans coming out of hibernation would look so sick and weak, and they'd probably take a while to get their full green color back, and the more soft leafy areas of higher body fat would have shriveled into just the small scale-like leaves that make up the majority of their skin, and their uniforms would be all baggy on them, and the human crew would probably be so so so worried for them, especially the first few hibernation cycles
*Spock stumbles onto the bridge for the first time in several months, pale orange-red and extremely skinny* "Oh my god, Spock!" (overjoyed at his return) -- "Oh my god Spock you look like crap, are you alright?" (softer and full of concern upon actually noticing what he looks like) -- "This is perfectly normal, I'll be fine, you need me on du-" *faints*
#HI OKAY so I have a lot more like this: branch-off ideas about their reproduction and blood functionality and cute baby stuff and all that#and all of them are tagged “photosynthetic vulcans” so if you want to search for them that should work (it's worked for me)#vulcans#photosynthesis#photosynthetic humanoids#photosynthetic vulcans#hibernation#star trek#star trek tos#spock#biology theorization#speculative biology#(I am not a botanist or a biologist but I'd love to talk about SPECIFICALLY how this would work with someone who is haha :))#disclaimer: this is indeed extremely long and nerdy#I didn't realize at first that this got saved as a draft#so for a devastating few hours from roughly 2 in the morning until a couple hours after I woke up#I genuinely thought ALL of this was GONE. Deleted.#and I tried to start recreating it but I was just so damn heartbroken over losing literally hours worth of work that I just couldn't do it#so I am extremely grateful for the fact that it got saved as a draft#but A LITTLE WARNING WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE#because I had gone to a different site to do research and then stepped away to unplug the phone and plug in a portable charger instead#and when I came back#the post was EMPTY#just blank. The “create a new post” screen. I was in shock and denial and very upset.#it was probably 1:30 in the morning and I was unprepared to deal with it#so I know none of that matters but if you are reading these tags then THANK YOU because a fuck ton of emotions went into this

insectober day 5
The twin-tailed dustwing; a common generalist, which feeds on various fluids as an adult (it's not picky ; nectar, sweat, juice, blood, urine, you name it). Its larvae, on the other hand, eats food waste.
Due to the larvae's alimentation, finding them inside a house or communal kitchen is often an early sign there's a hygiene problem and scraps aren't cleaned properly.
They're a common compost pile sight as well, and are generally appreciated for their intricate wing patterns. In symbolic okaliss (sorry link from my other blog i need to make an actual post about it on this blog but im doing my best here), they may represent the act of cleaning/removing the last bits of food from the table after a large meal.
