there's something so compelling about stories where a character's virtues intensify into flaws that lead to their downfall. loyalty and love becoming so all-consuming that compassion outside of them ceases to exist. duty overwhelming any moral compass until order becomes more important than justice. selflessness so intense it becomes self-destruction. let me watch while whatever saved the hero in the beginning destroys them. let me see them fall to their own worst impulses disguised as what once made them good.

Continuing my ttrpg rambles! This one is a shorter one cause I can't find the rulebook for free, and all my knowledge comes from the Dungeons and Daddies oneshot(ish): It's Bluebeard's Bride!

Ok so first of all. Feminism. slay. games for forever have been he/himing the players and its OUR turn to take over. In the rulebooks the players are referred to by she/her pronouns for reasons that will be apparent soon. but yeah. feminism

The replayability of BBB is... questionable. to me. It is the exact same plot every time, the main difference is the rooms that the bride goes through. Context: The story is that the players are the bride of a rich and morally questionable man, and they go through "rooms" of his castle, exploring the horrors and trying to survive creatures and entities in your husband's haunted house. Replayability? Hm. Questionable, as I said. But you want to know what makes up for it? THE PREMISE.

EVERY SINGLE PLAYER is playing the Bride. All of them. Simultaneously. How does this work? Well, each player gets to play an *aspect* of her. One player might play the concept of selflessness, one player might play the concept of lust, one player might play the concept of deception. All of them are different "maidens" of the bride, with their own individual goals and abilities. Which is so neat?????? I love that?????? Only one maiden has 'control' over the bride at any given time, using the glorified version of the talking stick. Once a maiden's turn is done, the talking stick is given to another maiden to do things. The seduction maiden tries to seduce the horrors, uh oh. that fails. well, since she can't do anything else the talking stick is now given to the violent maiden, and everything about her incentivizes brawling so the bride might take a swing! very funky stuff.

Another way for the maidens to switch out? If enough traumaaa is receiveeeed!!! The maidens, instead of health, have trauma points. If they receive enough trauma, they are no longer in control, and another maiden takes over. If a certain maiden gets *enough trauma*, she dies through the idea that that aspect of her is repressed forever. If the selfless maiden is taking the helm too frequently and putting the bride in dangerous situations, then she's probably going to take more trauma. She takes enough of it, and it makes sense! Being selfless is not beneficial to the bride, so she's going to repress that shit forever! And thus that maiden is dead. Thats so so cool AUGH the concept is driving me bonkers

Now dndads kind of homebrewed it i think so im gleaming from the wiki rn, but the ending is tied to whether the bride goes down a "loyal" or "disloyal" route. the horrors encountered will either convince the bride that she actually loves her husband, or it will convince her of the opposite. Which is kinda funky! Neat stuff! If the characters don't die, they either get a loyal or unloyal ending and thats real silly

I don't know much else but pretty neat, I'd like to play someday
