US, Russia to hold talks after Trump-Putin call
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia and the United States could hold talks “in the coming days” after US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he had “very good” phone conversations with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
It may not be Sunday itself. The final nuances are being agreed now, it’s the beginning of next week, the very beginning, that’s what will be known. Well, indeed, we are talking about the very next days.
Peskov stressed that Trump and Putin discussed the need for future talks during their conversation.
Indeed, we expect that the talks will continue at the expert level in the coming days.
On Wednesday, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov and White House national security adviser Mike Waltz also discussed who could represent Russia and the United States in expert-level talks on Ukraine, Peskov added.
The topic [the composition of negotiators on Ukraine] was mentioned, indeed. And yesterday [19 March] it was also discussed during a telephone conversation between Ushakov and his counterpart, Mr Waltz.
Peskov said that Moscow would “timely” inform who will represent Russia at the next talks with the US in Saudi Arabia.
Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation on 18 March, during which the US president put forward a proposal on mutual refusal of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine to launch 30-day strikes on energy infrastructure facilities. Trump subsequently held a conversation with Zelensky.
Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that much of his hour-long phone conversation with Zelensky focused on what was discussed the day before with Putin. The purpose of Wednesday’s conversation was to reconcile the positions of Russia and Ukraine “in terms of their requests and needs,” the US leader said.
He also said that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Waltz would soon release an “accurate description of the points discussed.”
European response
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that if Russia does not come to the negotiating table, “then we need to strain every sinew to ramp up economic pressure on Russia to secure an end to this war.” Outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Europe must continue to strongly support Ukraine, regardless of any negotiations between Washington and Moscow, to ensure that Kyiv is in a strong position.
That means Ukraine can defend its independence and sovereignty, that it decides its own path and chooses its own leaders, and naturally, that it has a strong army in peacetime.
He added that the debt package agreed by a likely future German coalition to finance increased defence and infrastructure spending was a key part of the initiative. At the same time, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas suggested that support for Ukraine should be demonstrated by action, especially in the form of ammunition, which Kyiv needs.
If you listen to the statements of the leaders, then the support is very much there, and that is why it should also be seen in deeds, in numbers, in actual ammunition that Ukraine needs. So I’m really hopeful that we will push this forward.
Bloomberg, however, noted that French President Emmanuel Macron’s desire to continue supporting Ukraine could lead to conflict with Trump, who is trying to end the war.
Zelensky’s reaction
After a roughly hour-long conversation with Trump on Wednesday, Zelensky told reporters that the “technical” Ukraine-US talks in Saudi Arabia this weekend would focus on deciding what types of infrastructure would be protected under the agreement. The Ukrainian leader has previously said he wants the partial ceasefire to also cover railways and ports.
One of the first steps toward fully ending the war could be ending strikes on energy and other civilian infrastructure. I supported this step, and Ukraine confirmed that we are ready to implement it.
According to a White House statement, during the conversation, Trump suggested that Zelensky consider transferring Ukraine’s power plants to US ownership to ensure their long-term security.
American ownership of those plants could be the best protection for that infrastructure.
Commenting on the future talks between the US and Russia, Zelensky’s administration said that Ukraine would not participate in the negotiation process. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian leader said that the future meeting of Russian and Ukrainian delegations would not be a “big problem.”
You know, it’s not a big problem. There would be a result. I believe that if the sides work out technical solutions, if there is political will, first of all on the part of the Russians … the meeting is not a problem.
While European leaders are hosting another round of meetings to provide security guarantees for Ukraine, the US and Russia will soon meet in Saudi Arabia for the next phase of talks to substantively discuss the details of ending the war and paving the way for a sustainable peace.

after two long years Ukraine is making major gains even after a massive slog in the south, it's the first major land invasion of Russia since the second world war! The funny thing is that Ukraine is abiding by international standards and not committing war crimes, not only that but there has been no major protests nir armed resistance against Ukraine troops in the kurk region and my best guest is that any people who would have fought are evacuating but then why wouldn't they do anything something like Ukraine citizens did during the invasion of their territory? With all that said however this is a major advantage for Ukraine for PR and negotiations, any talk going forward are no longer about begging but real negotiations since Russia risks losing territory. Wjth the November US election this kursk offensive this might also impact military aid in a positive way, despite pro-russia pundits crying about Ukraine's use of western weapons.

There is no cure for pro-r*ussian or so-called "polite influences" on social media.
I have recently been scrolling my YouTube and found a brand new video about food overconsumption. I read a few comments and, after putting a dislike, closed the video.
There was r*ssian coment, and of course, it was liked by an author. The message of the comment was that Americans eat the worst military food, bless the monarch of r*ssian empire, food should be nutritional, and so on.
First, as a Ukrainian, I saw many vids about r*ssian military food (made by r*ussians) where they were (so ironically) vomiting and telling this is just fat and porridge... It was the time I laughed.
Second, I am impressed how stupid the author is cause she liked it (btw she had a British accent, THE FOOK YER DOING A CHARAID?). Just because a terrorist loves flowers like you do it does not mean you have to support terrorism.
Third...Actually, it is not the first time I see how people like and are really impressed by comments like "as a r*ssian, I...", "I am from r*ssia and we...". You have never spoke to them, never seen the real r*ssia and you fucking forget there is the war in Ukraine — WHAAAATEVER, why not to like it, it is just a comment?
Because it is a lie and all the r*ssian users are just a piece of huge 150 million (less, I guess, whatever) shit making fun of you, pretending to be a better state. Instead of being ofenced and tell em to go to fuck themselves people are eating shit and are comfortable with a self-abasement.
Overconsumption is not the reason the USA is worse than an error state with no normal roads, houses, medicine, psychological health, but with huge half imperial half soviet ambitions, and so on.
And I do not even want to listen to your "bwbwbbababab r*ssians deserve for better lives you cannot be so mean, blah blah blah". They don't. They simply don't. Never deserved. Tell all the Georgians, Baltic countries, the Finnish, Polish people, Romanians, Moldovans (etc) r*ussians are good, and you will get your mouth stuffed with nails and crap.
аж полегшало, кулєги, ширте мої думки, поки я живий.

Russia News
As of approximately 05:15AM GMT; PMC Wagner has taken Rostov-on-Don and is engaging MoD forces in Voronezh; the former is the central HQ of Russian operations in Ukraine, effectively decapitating the Russian army in the region until command can be reestablished, and the latter is approximately halfway to Moscow from Wagner's starting positions.
Significant numbers of MoD forces have defected to Wagner, and there is some evidence Putin may have already fled the city.
We appear to be witnessing a military coup.

The newest nomination to the rank of Catholic cardinal, Australia-based Mykola Bychok, says he was shocked to learn of his appointment but believes it may be a message of support for Ukraine from the Vatican.
Bychok, who holds the title “head of the Eparchy of Saints Peter and Paul of Melbourne for the Ukrainian Catholics in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania”, said he would never forget the moment he heard the news of his nomination as a cardinal – the highest-ranking appointment in the Catholic Church below the Pope.
Tumblr media
The new appointees range in age from 99 to the 44-year-old Bychok, making him the world’s youngest cardinal when confirmed in December.
He said it was normal for the Pope to choose a cardinal from a region where there were fewer appointees, such as Oceania, where there were only three – Tonga, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
But he said his Ukrainian identity might have also been a factor.
“It will be some special sign for Russia as well,” Bychok said as he stood beside a Ukrainian flag that was carried into battle in 2014 during the Russian invasion of Crimea and Donetsk.
“This flag is a relic of bravery and bears the blood and marks of my fellow Ukrainians tortured in defending their homeland.
“It is a symbol of hope for all who suffer persecution, loss, displacement and the pains of war. It is also a stark reminder that the marginalised can never be forgotten.”
He referenced comments from the Pope made on Sunday in a plea for peace in the region.
“He said, please stop killing innocent people because winter is approaching. I support this message because it will be a difficult winter for all the Ukrainians, especially during this third year of the war,” Bychok said.

From the outside, it may seem like the Russia-Ukraine war is solely about land and power, but if you look closer at the role of the church, you’ll realize there is another parallel war being waged here.
👉Learn how the church became entangled in this conflict.

Countries tell Ukraine 'you are not alone' after UN adopts neutral stance on war
GENEVA, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Dozens of countries rallied behind Ukraine at a meeting at the United Nations in Geneva on Tuesday, a day after the U.N. Security Council adopted a U.S.-drafted resolution that takes a neutral stance on the conflict.
The event, held to commemorate "resistance to the Russian aggression", follows the resolution adopted in New York on the war's third anniversary that reflects President Donald Trump's upending of U.S. policy on Ukraine and his more conciliatory stance towards Russia.

Let it be known that Ukraine has and will continue to hold onto Russian land until Russia leaves Ukraine's internationally recognized territory. Most of all it's very telling that Putin and Russian state media had downplayed and ignored Kursk due to it being an absolute disaster for Russia, well when they aren't calling for those same Russian villages and towns to be homed into the ground. It's almost insane to think that people thought Ukraine wouldn't last a week much less several years, but never underestimate the fighting will of people opposing tyranny. Don't stop fighting until Ukraine is free!! 💛💙💛💙💛💙

Do Europeans (and do Ukrainians) criticize for low foreign language skills?
Today, I found a post of a non-European who complained about how the Spanish criticized foreigners for nor speaking Spanish. It reminds me of posts about how Europeans hate when Americans are not bilingual or are not speaking their mother tongue.
As an Eastern European, specifically, as a Ukrainian, I personally give no sheesh whether you speak Ukrainian or not. However...
First, not all Ukrainians speak English/Spanish/French/German etc.
You cannot simply come here and expect us to speak English fluently. Elder generations speak English badly, my generation (um...actually, I am not gen Z according to our generation theory...I am Y...uummmm...however!) also refuses to speak (but learns), the youngest gen Alpha cannot speak English yet. Why? Because we cannot practice it, we have no extra money to travel all around the world (even before the war, ye know), and as an English language teacher, I have to say the methods of teaching English in Ukraine are...particularly ineffective. Same situations with less spreaded languages.
Second, we want you to speak Ukrainian.
It is a common situation (especially before the war) when a foreigner surely learns French or German but thinks English will be enough in Ukraine. You may say that is because Slavic languages are hard to (at least) speak, but many of you choose russian to learn. Moreover, there are absolutely brainless and somehow pragmatic people (yeah, Chinese, I am speaking about you) thinking it is enough to speak russian in Ukraine, the mother language of Ukrainians does not matter.
We want you to speak Ukrainian. We do not really care how bad you speak. We will surely (try to) understand you and correct if it is necessary. Our language is unique, and we want not only all the Ukrainians to speak it but also foreigners to learn.
btw how did I learn English...? well...I am a philologist of English and Chinese languages, and I have a bachelor degree (yet).
теє-то, кулєги, поширюйте допис, я пітнів і без перекладача писав, як справжній профі!

[ 📹📸 A Russian military transport plane, was in the process of flying 65 Ukrainian POWs to a location in the Bolgorod oblast to facilitate a prisoner exchange when it was shot out of the sky by Ukrainian missile, killing everyone on board.]

UKRAINIAN MISSILE SHOOTS DOWN RUSSIAN MILITARY TRANSPORT PLANE FILLED WITH ITS OWN POWs
74 are dead, including 65 Ukrainian POWs, after a Russian military transport plane being used to facilitate a prisoner exchange scheduled for Wednesday was downed somewhere over the Bolgorod region of the Russian Federation, near the border with Ukraine. The prisoner exchange has since been called off by Russian authorities.
In an article published by Ukrainian Pravda, a Ukrainian news periodical, a source is cited as saying that the aircraft was downed by Ukrainian forces near the border with Russia's Bolgorod region, however they have since retracted the source, and are now claiming they cannot confirm the news. The Russian authorities have since confirmed that the plane was in fact downed by a Ukrainian missile, likely using either an American Patriot air defense missile or a German-made Iris-T.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Russian authorities say that the crash took place at approximately 11:15am (local time), when a Russian Il-76 military transport plane filled with Ukrainian POWs was downed near the Bolgorod region.
“At about 11:00 Moscow time, an Il-76 plane crashed during a scheduled flight in the Belgorod region. On board there were 65 captured Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, <including> six crew members and three accompanying persons,” the statement says.
In its statement, the Russian Defense Ministry slammed the missile strike, declaring the "Kiev regime committed a terrorist act" in downing the military transport.
According to Russian sources, the aircraft had been en route from the Chkalovsky military airbase in Moscow, and was shot down by air defenses stationed somewhere in the Kharkov oblast in the northeast of Ukraine, killing everyone on board.
The Russian and Ukrainian authorities had agreed to conduct a prisoner exchange later on Wednesday, with the exchange set to take place near the Russian village of Kolotilovka, also in the Bolgorod oblast, close to the border with Ukraine.
A second military transport aircraft carrying some 80 Ukrainian POWs was turned around before reaching the danger area, and was successfully diverted to another airbase after news of the downing reached Russian authorities.
The Ukrainian officials have so far refused to comment on the crash, remaining mum as news of the event spreads, although Andrey Yusov, a spokesperson for the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) confirmed a prisoner exchange had been scheduled for Wednesday, adding that the exchange has since been cancelled.
