Unless they explicitly confirm that in the show, I am going to ignore it. As a person in cancer remission, I know there is a disconnect between what people think they'd do if they got that diagnosis, or the possibility of it, and what people with stage IV cancer actually DO.

People think they'd go whoopdeedo crazy with all kind of grand shenanigans. "LIVE!!!" "Experience!!" What they do is much more mundane. Live from scan to scan. Learn what words like "paclitaxel" and "apoptosis" mean. Write wills. Seek out current relationships and favorite places. Go through their things. Find a hospice. Write down their passwords. Wonder if they'll be around for the release of a favorite piece of media or concert. They hang out with people a lot, really. Take pictures. Bucket lists things are much, much smaller

Maybe Malibu Terry was doing some of that, but Terry is behaving like someone with a delayed midlife crisis, not someone with stage IV cancer.

And if he is on a maintenance regimen, some people are in stage IV for years. Still, when they first get this diagnosis, most people go on a round of sick heavy chemo and radiation and even if you're the fittest person on earth you're unlikely to regain TIG's fitness. The reason why they go on a heavy treatment regimen first is when you're diagnosed with stage IV and you do nothing, the prognosis is weeks, not years.

If Terry has "terminal cancer" it's like Miguel's spinal injury, which is to say medically bullshit writing, and any fan who wants to reject that headcanon, can.

If TIG wants to use it as motivation, sure, but this is how people without cancer think, and I'm glad he doesn't really know what people in that situation do.

I'm worried about the rising rate of young adults getting cancer.

For what it's worth, we've actually made a shocking amount of progress against cancer - especially the most common cancers like breast cancer, and especially in the past 30 years.

Cancer rates have been falling, often dramatically (x, x, x, x, x, x). One of the best examples it that breast cancer deaths in the United States dropped 58% between 1975 and 2019 (x).

Right now, we're at the beginning of an absolute revolution in cancer care that promises to increase survival rates even further. This revolution has been going on to a lesser degree since the first human genome was successfully sequenced in the early 2000s (and in fact, the first gapless sequencing of a human genome was finally finished just two years ago, in 2022), and to a greater extent since CRISPR DNA-editing technology was first successfully tested in 2013, and since medical digitzation/digital communication and vaccination were massively spurred ahead in 2020, by the COVID pandemic (x, x).

Right now, the results of this revolution are only beginning to trickle out into actual treatments. But I guarantee you, in the next one to three decades, the way we fight cancer will be massively transformed.

We're talking personalized genome sequencing for each person with cancer - not just for early and better detection, but even to figure out what types of treatments will work best. (x, x, x, x)

We're talking using CRISPR-based DNA editing to literally cut cancer-causing mutations out of your DNA, to edit the genes of immune cells to better detect and kill cancer cells, and to kill cancer-causing viruses. (x, x, x, x)

We're talking using CRISPR-based screening to figure out how chemotherapy resistance works, so that we can overcome it - and even weaponize it. (x, x)

We're talking using CRISPR to edit immune cells so that they recognize and target the mutations of a single individual's specific tumor. (x)

We're talking new types of testing that can predict if cancer will return years before it shows up on scans. (x)

We're talking using (non-generative) AI to massively increase the accuracy and earliness of cancer detection - which by the way is already starting to happen, there are several AI-based systems that detect cancer earlier and more accurately than doctors do. (x, x, x, x, x, x)

Also, the more we transition to a green, sustainable, and ethical future, the fewer cancer-causing substances will be in the environment (fossil fuels, oil drilling, and mining are massive sources of carcinogens at every point in the process).

Cancer is awful. That is a massive understatement. But the fight against cancer is one where there are so many reasons for hope.

Thinking about Wade collared, hands tied, blind folded, and sitting in a really dark room with his legs bound to the chair. A single light is swigging above him as from another room, he can hear screams of agony. They keep getting closer. Sounds he recognizes.

"Ooohh.. He's not going to like that.." he moans, flinching to be hit again only for a certain SNKT noise to run through his ears. It only takes a second.

"Don't you fuckin' dare." He snarls, kicking the body away, going from panting, sniffing and growling to a steady breath of concentration, ripping the ropes and pulled off the blindfold.

"Hey, kitten." Wade smiled confidently at him, proud. "What took you so long?"

"Hey.. Tch.. You ever gonna stop getting yourself into trouble?"

He shook his head, smiling. "Nu-uh."

"Mmh.." Clipping the collar off, Logan threw it across the room, taking his cheek in his hand. "You okay?"

Putting his head back, Logan kisses him widely, like a starving jungle cat taking a chunk out of a freshly killed gazelle that he had to work hard to catch. Licking the blood off his lips, the beast settled with a smirk as Wade giggled, pushing his face away from him playfully, only for his hands to be grabbed as he picks him up, princess style.

"You little freak!" He teased, knowing stomach acid did NOT make for good kisses.

Anyway regardless of how you feel about the Royals, even if you’re like me and think they’re all parasites, here are some things to remember:

The UK taxpayer is funding Kate’s high-end treatments whilst millions of citizens are on years-long NHS waiting lists for their own treatments and waiting hours upon hours to be seen in A&E when they’ve had a severe incident; so much money that could be going towards funding the NHS properly is instead going to the Royals. Kate is very likely going to be perfectly fine. Millions of regular tax-paying UK citizens will not.

HOWEVER. Kate isn’t going to see your memes making fun of her on tumblr dot com — but other people whom have suffered because of cancer will. If common decency won’t stop you from posting crab rave GIFs celebrating the illness of a mother to three young children, hopefully the chance of someone else with cancer or with a friend or relative with cancer seeing it will.

Seriously does no one else think Kensington’s PR nightmare is kind of fucked up like the fact they were so Weird about all this and let a sick woman in their “family” take all the blame for their shitty Photoshop skills. Royalist stan blogs I’ve seen you on here and I ask you: is THAT not some kind of indication as to how fucking evil they are if absolutely nothing else is. Please tell me you’ve seen the light by now I can’t cope anymore
