Hello! We wanted to make this post in regards to the banning of TikTok in the United States, and the potential influx of TikTok users onto Tumblr! We've heard that individuals may be curious as to what a physical alterhuman is, and as a system who is bodily physically alterhuman, we are more than happy to explain it by revamping our original explanation.

So, that being said

What is a physical alterhuman?

A physical alterhuman, as the namesake implies, is someone who identifies as alterhuman on a physical level. There is NO set experience for this, just like every other way of experiencing alterhumanity.

Examples of this include, but aren't limited to;

Being able to transform into an alterhuman being, a headmate in a system who may see the body as a physical alterhuman when they front, the "human" appearance being a veil or a glamor, the body simply being alterhuman, etc

Personally, we fall under the category of believing our body's "human" appearance is a veil, and we speculate we are, in reality, a shapeshifter.

A common misconception that's around the alterhuman communities are that ALL physical alterhumans are delusional. And your first instinct may be to try to defend by saying "not all of them are delusional!"

Well, I wanted to say that, even if someone's physical alterhumanity is caused or influenced in any way by delusions, they are still 100% valid and shouldn't be shunned away due to experiencing something like this.

Someone being physically alterhuman for ANY reason doesn't give anyone the right to try to "reality check" them, identity police them, ridicule them, or hate on them. Even if you're trying to do these things in "good intent", you're most likely doing more harm than good! You're talking to a stranger on the internet that you don't know the full story of, and you definitely don't know what's on their kind.

And you may be uncomfortable with physical alterhumans, but if you are, then just steer clear of us! No one is forcing you to be around us, and your discomfort doesn't give you a right to try to push us out of the community. You may think we are "scary" or "too weird", and to that, I say open your eyes.

The genetic disability includes physical traits that appear “nonhuman” in some sense, leading to a belief that you are physically nonhuman.

Yes, because of ancestry or ethnicity

Examples:

Family lore/legend alludes to nonhuman ancestry

Ancestry can be directly or indirectly linked to nonhumans (i.e. an Irish person with a last name close to or within Ossory, leading them to believe they descended from Faoladh [Irish Werewolves aka the Wolves of Ossory])

You believe you are a direct descendant of a nonhuman creature, whether it be a known one from a legend or an unknown one

Yes, because my parents are/were nonhuman which means I’m genetically nonhuman

Note: can also include grandparents if you feel this fits. Generally supposed to describe recent DNA/Ancestry rather than the above option.

Examples:

One or both birth parents identify as nonhuman, and you identify as nonhuman as well, and because of this you believe you are genetically nonhuman

You are adopted and believe either one or both of your birth parents are nonhuman, meaning you are genetically nonhuman

You believe your parents carry a nonhuman gene, and while they aren’t necessarily nonhuman the gene expressed in you making you genetically nonhuman

Yes, because I’m genetically a fae/changeling/etc affected by a veil/glamour

Note: if you don’t believe you are affected by a veil/glamour, feel free to choose this option regardless

Examples:

Hi, we made a post like this long ago on our now defunct althuman blog, but we feel the need to redo and reconstruct this post as we realise that there are still misconceptions to things.

What is a physical alterhuman?

[ DISCLAIMER: please do not take our words as the definitive fact. We are aware we could be wrong in some areas and appreciate corrections as long as they are in a civil tone. ]

Well, for starters; a physical alterhuman is someone who identfies as an alterhuman on a physical level, much like the name entails.

This can be experienced in many forms, and includes (but is not limited to!): being able to transform into an alterhuman being, the body being alterhuman, the "human" appearance being a veil or glamour, an alter in a collective who views the body as them when in front, etc.

A common misconception is that ALL physical alterhumans stem from delusions. This is not the case! However, those who are physically alterhuman due to delusions are still 100% valid and do not deserve to be ridiculed, hated, shunned, or any other harmful thing.

Physical alterhuman experiences are not all the same, it's always going to be a spectrum. Personally, for our collective, we are physically alterhuman but are unsure of specifics. This stems from many childhood traumas as well as things like our mental disabilities such as autism and attention deficit hyperactive disorder. The "human" everyone sees from us is a glamour, or a veil, that we cannot remove, but that does not make us any less of a physical alterhuman.

I don't like how this has to be constantly said but; no, someone being physically alterhuman does not give you the right to shun them out of the community, to try to police their identity, or come to harmful conclusions. It isn't anyone's right to meddle into another being's business, especially when you are a stranger on the internet. As much as some of you may come from good intent, you're not really doing a nice thing by telling others to get help or trying to "reality check" them for who they are. We personally find it ridiculous that this statement has to be said.

hai baby hi!! what is 'holothere'? I've been meaning to ask and ur post reminded me about itt SJDHH

boyfriend ask!! yippee!!!! i'll try to explain it in my own words because i am a holothere so i feel that i can, but essentially it is someone who is entirely physically nonhuman, and that is how i'd describe myself for the most part. it can be used instead of other alterhuman terms or alongside them, and can refer to one aspect of someone's identity and not another (ex: i am a (were)coyote/wolf holothere, but i am just a wolverine therian and do not usually view myself as a wolverine).

maybe there are those who identify with the term who are still partially physically human, i'm unsure, but that's the consensus i've heard and how i personally use the term. i also prefer to use it in place of therian when referring to myself (i will still use it when referring to certain types, but i don't like therian much as a label on its own), as i feel it fits a lot more with how i see myself. i think holothere, transspecies, and were/werecoyote/werewolf are how i like to refer to myself the most :3
