respect to people who do (especially quadrobics, it looks so difficult lol) but it doesn’t feel very appealing to me at all.

i personally feel like my therianthropy is much less outward expression (like aforementioned things) and much more…. laying in bed, completely still, closing my eyes, and feeling a deep, painful yearning for something beyond the human experience.

honestly, with the big wave of people on here talking about doing quadrobics and gear and whatnot, it has me kind of feeling a bit insecure.

like am i not doing enough to “prove” that i’m a therian? should i want to make myself a mask and learn how to run on all fours? should i want to buy a tail i can wear?

i know this is a silly question but, like, for those beings who date humans, do you have preferences that somehow connect to your nonhumanity/alterhumanity etc?

for example, if you're a bear therian, if you like more humans that reminds you of bears or are hairy or kinda chunky?

or if you are for example bumblebee like me, if you are fuckin happy that someone also like sweets and flowers?? or if they remind you of bumblebee again? 🪦

or if you're therian dating therian, if you have some kintype you prefer??

There is a rabbit who made your sandwich.

An elderich being teaches a math course.

The local werewolf takes care of the elderly.

Rams make up the staff at a pub nearby.

Dragons make excellent library workers.

Your favorite cashier happens to be a lion.

Your overly punctual classmate is a moth, and your less than punctual classmate is a hummingbird.

A goldfinch shops at a gift shop.

A catfish tours you through a historical site.

Across the street is a banshee who is walking their dog.

Cats work on their computers in small cafes.

And you move through your life as you are.

We are unique but certainly not alone. Your community is around you, even if you do not see it outright.

Why can't people do snuggle piles. If you look at social animals, they usually sleep in piles. Mice, rats, meerkats, wolves... I miss that. I need that. I feel so cold and alone without my packmates neetly stashed on and around me.

Why did human society restrict this kind of physical contact to romantic partners? I want my 5 spooning buddies, now.

no, i’m not confused and lonely. no, i’m not just searching for a sense of belonging. no, i am not just a kid pretending to be an animal for fun. no, i am not going to grow out of being a therian.

it’s real, and it’s important to me, and it’s my lived experience. all i ask is that you don’t diminish that.

by the way, you can and should project your experience onto fictional characters and headcanon them as alterhuman/otherkin/therian/etc.

It is not cringe or "chronically online." Our incredibly complex and profound identities have been boiled down to cat masks and doing quadrobics online, therianthropy is seen as something akin to being a furry, when in reality it is something far deeper. It is ok to project that onto characters you like, it is ok to see characters' complex stories and identities and see them explained through therianthropy. If someone is unwilling to see the nuance in your identity and think you're doing the next Miku binder Thomas Jefferson or whatever then it is their fault for not listening to your experiences and perspectives, It's not your fault for existing in a way that has been misinterpreted. (Note. i am not saying that there is anything wrong with being a furry, or enjoying cat masks, or doing quadrobics. all im saying that boiling down alterhumanity to the commonly portrayed "tiktok therian aesthetic" gets old and is not an accurate representation of what being alterhuman feels like for alot of people)
